• Rotating WebLogic Server logs to avoid large files using WLST.

  By default, when WebLogic Server instances are started in development mode, the server automatically renames (rotates) its local server log file as SERVER_NAME.log.n.  For the remainder of the server session, log messages accumulate in SERVER_NAME.log until the file grows to a size of 500 kilobytes.Each time the server log file reaches this size, the server renames the log file and creates a new SERVER_NAME.log to store new messages. By default, the rotated log files are numbered in order of creation filenamennnnn, where filename is the name configured for the log file. You can configure a server instance to include a time and date stamp in the file name of rotated log files; for example, server-name-%yyyy%-%mm%-%dd%-%hh%-%mm%.log.By default, when server instances are started in production mode, the server rotates its server log file whenever the file grows to 5000 kilobytes in size. It does not rotate the local server log file when the server is started. For more information about changing the mode in which a server starts, see Change to production mode in the Administration Console Online Help.You can change these default settings for log file rotation. For example, you can change the file size at which the server rotates the log file or you can configure a server to rotate log files based on a time interval. You can also specify the maximum number of rotated files that can accumulate. • Video works with 'Try me' but not after install. What is the difference? U12.04LTS,

  My hard drive got corrupted so I did a reinstall. Tested Youtube in FF during 'try me' and it worked - jerky, but it worked. Instal without all the updates (576 outstanding now) in order to get ff installed as per the demo - to no avail. In 'try me' mode ff NEVER crashed! After install ff crashed whilst I was typing in 'youtube' in the address field. When I finally got to youtube - no video. What is the difference between ff in try me and ff after install? Off to try some selected updates now to see if I can see it for myself. In previous installation I had several profiles and aliased ff with -safe-mode switch to simplify startup of most stable ff. Also found that ff startup in graphic mode worked better (but still without video) with all of the extensions disabled and all of the plugins set to "ask" and always denied ... I have SiS graphic card in SiS Motherboard for XP and ancient Hyundai ImageQuest QV770 monitor. I have Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS 1 day after install with only the immediate upgrades requested to language pack (English UK). Using FR Alternative keyboard. Connected with domestic wifi network from Orange (FT) I really want to use Skype, but won't bother installing it (again) without video as I can do my sms on FB - whilst ff is not crashed ... Update ... Is something overflowing? I have just had to reboot in order to get ff to restart in any way shape or form - restart on crash form generates new crash form, etc. It was however a good half hour before it crashed so some improvement over conditions before disk corruption. I have now installed all of the critical updates (332 recommended updates still outstanding) which included some relating to ff. Still no video. Still crashing - especially when on Grepolis website. Since the re-install I have had a lovely 1024x768 screen, but after last ff crash and reboot I got a message about 'low graphics mode' and 'setting things myself'. I was not sufficiently tuned in at the time to take proper note - I have no doubt I shall see it again and shall report accordingly. I still have only laptop options for my screen and do not know how to rectify this. Spent a few days with ubuntu on a different, newer machine which has now suffered a graphics breakdown. Returned to this old one again, but with new flat screen Monitor. Found SIS drivers for my graphics BUT it is intended for Red Hat 7.2. I chose this over the version for 7.0 because I thought what the hell, I might not be able to do anything with either of them but this is the later one ... The file will not open with software manager - found a similar problem on Overclock but it has not helped me to install this driver. File name is sis_drv.o-410 and it is currently idling away in my Downloads folder ... I have tried the solution offered on another sis problem, but this shows that my xserver-xorg-video-sis driver is up to date. I am now at a loss as to how to proceed if I can't install the latest sis driver from sis ... Does nobody know how FF changes from "try-me" to "installed"? Any time I MUST have video I reboot from the disk again, but this is tedious! Also one of the things I mock most about MS is the constant rebooting ... UPDATE 10/6/2014 I have installed chromium-browser - worse, crashes even more often than ff.I have installed epiphany - better; Video works but not the associated soundtrack.FireFox is version 14.01 in 'try me' and version 29.0 from my install. Would it be useful to try to downgrade FireFox in order to get video?

• Problem displaying custom error page in ASP.NET MVC 2

  This is customErrors section from my web.config file <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="HTTP500.aspx" /> </customErrors> HTTP500.aspx is the same as standard /Views/Shared/Error.aspx page. When I get HTTP 500 error I see this page: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "RemoteOnly". To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines, please set "mode" to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. But when I change the above customErrors section like this: <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="HTTP500.htm" /> </customErrors> then HTTP500.htm page is displayed when HTTP 500 error occurs. • Silverlight nested RadGridView SelectedItem DataContext

  Hi, I'm developing a Silverlight 4 app and am using the 2010 Q1 release 1 RadGridView. I'm developing this app using the MVVM pattern and trying to keep my codebehind to a minimum. On my View I have a RadGridView and this binds to a property on my ViewModel. I am setting a property via the SelectedItem. I have a nested RadGridView and I want to set a property on my ViewModel to the SelectedItem but I cannot. I think the DataContext of my nested grid is the element in the parent's bound collection, rather than my ViewModel. I can easily use codebehind to set my ViewModel property from the SelectionChanged event on the nested grid, but I'd rather not do this. I have tried to use my viewModelName in the ElementName in my nested grid to specify that for SelectedItem, the ViewModel is the DataContext, but I cannot get this to work. Any ideas?   I have a datagrid in silverlight with child datagrid nested in it. Also I have a DataPager on the outer datagrid. My problem is it works fine except for the first row for the first time. When I click on it, it doesn't fire the dgData_RowDetailsVisibilityChanged event. Also, when I click on second row, firstly first row fires the event and then the second row fires it and shows the nested grid. Please help.

• How can I sort a DataGridTemplateColumn on a WPF Toolkit DataGrid?

  I have a WPF Toolkit DataGrid with one DataGridTemplateColumn. I've specified in a grid attribute that I wish all columns to be sortable, but the DataGridTemplateColumn won't allow it. All other columns do allow sorting. I've even tried explicitly setting CanUserSort to true for that column, but no luck. Is it even possible to sort a template column?   The Pragmatic Programmer recommends that you should use one text editor for everything. My chosen weapon editor is Vim. So I want to collect all the ways in which Vim (and the Vim keybindings) can be used and setting up your computer to make Vim work well. This includes how to embed Vim in your IDE, web browser, email client, command shell ... But I don't want Vim tips - there are other questions for them. I want tips to get into Vim, or Vim mode. Though tips about Vim mode not in an editor would be allowed (e.g. tips for vi mode when using Bash). Update: Going quite well so far, with ways to edit in Vim/gVim, or to get vi mode in Firefox, Safari, Thunderbird, many IDEs and command line applications, MS Outlook and Word. But I'm wondering if there are more. Particular applications I wonder about include OpenOffice.org KOffice Kmail Evolution Internet Explorer GIMP and Photoshop ... (only joking ;)

  I am looking for a comparison of Fingerprint reader SDKs available for .NET (we are using .Net 3.5). My requirements are 1. Associate more than one fingerprint with a person. 2. Store the fingerprints it self. (So I do not have to change the Database for my program.) 3. Work in both event and no-event mode. (Event Mode: Give notification if someone swipes a finger on the reader; No-Event mode: I activate the reader in synchronous mode). 4. Should provide API for either confirming a user or Identifying a user. (Confirm API: I send the person's ID/unique number and it confirms that it is the same person; Identifying API: The sdk sends the person's ID after it looks up the person using the fingerprint) I would also like to get a comparison of Fingerprint readers if anybody knows of one available on the internet. • iPhone Safari does not auto scale back down on portrait->landscape->portrait

  Hi, I have a very simple HTML page with this META tag for the iPhone: <meta name="viewport" content="height=device-height,width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no" /> When the page loads in portrait mode it looks fine and the width fits the screen. When I rotate the iPhone to landscape mode the web page is auto resized to fit the landscape width. Good, this is what I want. But when I rotate back to landscape, the page is not resized back to fit the portrait width like it was before. It remains in the landscape width. I want the iPhone to set it back to the right width automatically, just like it did for the landscape mode. I don't think this should involve orientation listeners because it is all done automatically and I don't have any special styling for the different modes. Why doesn't the iPhone resize the web page back in portrait mode? How do I fix this? Thanks! Tom.

The problem is that the RollBack method is not called. I don't see the expected entry in the event log. I want to mention that if i let the installation to complete , I do see the "Install" message in the event log and If i then uninstall , I see the "uninstall" message in the event log. But if stop the installtion process in the middle , by pressing the "cancel" button , I do see the progress bar going backward , but the rollback method is not called. what am I doing wrong ? thanks in advance for any help. Edit: Providing more details... The installer is an MSI package. The package is built in vs2009 using a setup project. The installer class is used as a custom action by the setup project. Since this is a MSI Package I have an option to run it in silent mode or in user-interactive more . When I wrote "Full GUI mode" , I ment User-Interactive mode.

  I have the following models set up: class Contact < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :band belongs_to :mode validates_presence_of :call, :mode validates_associated :mode, :band validates_presence_of :band, :if => :no_freq? validates_presence_of :freq, :if => :no_band? protected def no_freq? freq.nil? end def no_band? band.nil? end end class Band < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end class Mode < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end When I enter a frequency on my new view it allows for no band to be specified if a freq is entered. This creates a problem in my other views though because band is now nil. How do I allow for band not to be specified and just show up as empty on my index and show views, and then in the edit view allow one to be specified at a later point in time. I have been able to get my index to display a blank by doing: contact.band && contact.band.name But I'm not sure if this is a best approach, and I'm unsure of how to apply a similar solution to my other views. However, when calling UpdateItem in edit mode, the container that gets passed into the ExtractValues method of the template, does not contain the TextBox anymore. It did in view mode! I have found some questions on SO that relate to this problem but they are rather dated and they don't provide any answers that helped me solve this problem. How do you think I could solve this problem? It seems to be such a simple requirement but apparently it's more like opening a can of worms...

• Remove clear button (grey x) to the right of UISearchBar when cancel button tapped

  Right, to begin my question, here's some screenies of the problem already solved by the Spotify app: Spotify's Step 1: Standard UISearchBar not in editing mode. Spotify's Step 2: UISearchBar now in editing mode. Search term entered. Cancel button slides in from the right, and the clear button (grey x) appears. Spotify's Step 3: Cancel button pressed; keyboard slides out and the search bar is no longer in editing mode. Search term remains and the grey x button is now hidden. At present, the following code fires off when my cancel button is pressed: - (void)searchBarCancelButtonClicked:(UISearchBar *)searchBar { [searchBar resignFirstResponder]; [searchBar setShowsCancelButton:NO animated:YES]; } Which results in: My Step 3: Search bar now not in editing mode. Cancel button and keyboard has slid out. Search term remains but so does the grey x. So, my question is this: given that -resignFirstResponder (and -endEditing:, FYI) does not hide the grey x button when a search bar has had text entered into it, how does one hide it? • Git Diff with Beyond Compare

  I have succeeded in getting git to start Beyond Compare 3 as a diff tool however, when I do a diff, the file I am comparing against is not being loaded. Only the latest version of the file is loaded and nothing else, so there is nothing in the right pane of Beyond Compare. I am running git 1.6.3.1 with Cygwin with Beyond Compare 3. I have set up beyond compare as they suggest in the support part of their website with a script like such: #!/bin/sh # diff is called by git with 7 parameters: # path old-file old-hex old-mode new-file new-hex new-mode "path_to_bc3_executable" "$2" "$5" | cat Has anyone else encountered this problem and know a solution to this? Edit: I have followed the suggestions by VonC but I am still having exactly the same problem as before. I am kinda new to Git so perhaps I am not using the diff correctly. For example, I am trying to see the diff on a file with a command like such: git diff main.css Beyond Compare will then open and only display my current main.css in the left pane, there is nothing in the right pane. I would like the see my current main.css in the left pane compared to the HEAD, basically what I have last committed. • Inactive area after device rotation

  Hi all, I don't understand what's wrong in my very simple application with device rotation : I built my view with interface builder. (See screen capture here) I specified <key>UIInterfaceOrientation</key><string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight</string> in my info.plist file. I had a (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation {return YES;} in my root view controller. The area on the left (shown in red on the capture), around 20 pixel width, keeps inactive (nothing append if I hit a button in this area). In fact the full screen is active only in portrait mode, in landscape right mode there is this 20 pixels width inactive area, in landscape left mode this inactive area is on the right, in portrait upside down mode this area is on the bottom. I read lots of posts and documentation about UIView rotation, but I did not find anything to solve this problem (I tried to play with view.frame and view.bounds without any success).   My question: how can I set an ActiveX object's property via JavaScript to an enum value found in a non-ActiveX DLL? Problem description: I am instantiating an ActiveX object with the following object tag: <object classid="clsid:F338193D-2491-4D7B-80CE-03487041A278" id="VideoCapture1" width="500" height="500"></object> (This is the guid for the 3rd party ActiveX I'm using, "VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.VFVideoCapture4X") I have example C# code for using this ActiveX, which I am porting to JavaScript. Code like this works just fine: VideoCapture1.Debug_Mode = true; var devcount = VideoCapture1.Video_CaptureDevices_GetCount(); var devs = []; for (var i =0; i < devcount; ++i) { devs[devs.length] = VideoCapture1.Video_CaptureDevices_GetItem(i); } ... etc ... However, VideoCapture1 has some settings which refer to a DLL enum, like so (C# code): VideoCapture1.Mode = VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.TxVFMode.Mode_Video_Preview; I can see in Visual Web Developer that TxVFMode.Mode_Video_Preview is value 1 in the enum. However, the following JS does not appear to set the Mode properly: VideoCapture1.Mode = 1; Does anyone know how I can set VideoCapture1.Mode to the enum value found in the TxVFMode? PS: In Visual Web Developer, when I "Go to definition" on TxVFMode, I get the Guid for the enum. I thought I could create an with this Guid or instantiate a VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.TxVFMode in JS, but neither gives me a usable object.

• How to handle activity life cycle involving sockets in Android?

  Hello all, I have an Android activity which in turn starts a thread. In the thread I open a persistent TCP socket connection. When the socket connects to the server dynamic data is downloaded. The thread sends messages using Handler-class to the activity when data has been received. Now if the user happens to switch from portrait to landscape mode the activity gets an onDestroy call. At this moment I close the socket and stop the thread. When Android has switched landscape mode it calls onCreate yet again and I have to do a socket re-connect. Also, all of the data the activity received needs to be downloaded once more because the server does not have the ability to know what has been sent before, i.e. there is no "resume" feature. Thus the problem is that there is alot of data which is resent all the time when landscape mode is changed. What are my options here? Should I create a service which handles the socket traffic towards the server thus I always got all the data which the server has sent in the service. Or should I disable landscape mode all together perhaps? Or would my best bet be to rewrite my server which is a VERY BIG job :-) All input is welcome :-) / Henrik

  Hello, I'm designing event loop for asynchronous socket IO using epoll/devpoll/kqueue/poll/select (including windows-select). I have two options of performing, IO operation: Non-blocking mode, poll on EAGAIN Set socket to non-blocking mode. Read/Write to socket. If operation succeeds, post completion notification to event loop. If I get EAGAIN, add socket to "select list" and poll socket. Polling mode: poll and then execute Add socket to select list and poll it. Wait for notification that it is readable writable read/write Post completion notification to event loop of sucseeds To me it looks like first would require less system calls when using in normal mode, especially for writing to socket (buffers are quite big). Also it looks like that it would be possible to reduce the overhead over number of "select" executions, especially it is nice when you do not have something that scales well as epoll/devpoll/kqueue. Questions: Are there any advantages of the second approach? Are there any portability issues with non-blocking operations on sockets/file descriptors over numerous operating systems: Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, MacOSX, Windows. Notes: Please do not suggest using existing event-loop/socket-api implementations
