    I have a custom web part in SharePoint that has one property. Here is it: // Specify report path private string _report_path = string.Empty; [WebBrowsable(true), Personalizable(true), WebDisplayName("Enter Path"), WebDescription("Embeds an OBIEE Report in the portal"), SPWebCategoryName("Report")] public string ReportPath { get { return _report_path; } set { _report_path = value; } } The problem is that, I have to refresh the page manually a second time for the property to get set. Apparently, I need to put the method inside a PreRender event. Does anyone know how I can do this? Thanks.

    Morning, I am inputting data from an XML file into my database, but have any isse with German words (that are in the XML by mistake) For example the word für appears in my XML as für and thus appears the same in my database. I know I could do a simple search/replace for that exact phrase, but I was wondering if there was a smarter way to do it as I can't predict if any other German words may one day appear in the XML?   • How can I save and read to XML the new C++ style matrix objects in OpenCV?

    The old, C style cvMat matrices could be passed to the cvSave() function for easy writing to an XML file. The new C++ style cv::Mat and cv::Mat_ matrices are not accepted by this function. The OpenCV reference has a section on XML persistence, but the three classes (FileStorage, FileNode and FileNodeIterator) lack any description or example and I can't figure out how to use them from the interface.   • How can I synchronize database access between a write-thread and a read-thread?

    My program has two threads: Main execution thread that handles user input and queues up database writes A utility thread that wakes up every second and flushes the writes to the database Inside the main thread, I occasionally need to make reads on the database. When this happens, performance is not important, but correctness is. (In a perfect world, I would be reading from a cache, not making a round-trip to the database - but let's put that aside for the sake of discussion.) How do I make sure that the main thread sees a correct / quiescent database? A standard mutex won't work, since I run the risk of having the main thread grab the mutex before the data gets flushed to the database. This would be a big race condition. What I really want is some sort of mutex that lets the main thread of execution proceed only AFTER the mutex has been grabbed and released once. Does such a thing exist? What's the best way to solve this problem?

  • vim - how am I suppose to read this command to remove all blanks at the end of a line

    I happened across this page full of super useful and rather cryptic vim tips at http://rayninfo.co.uk/vimtips.html. I've tried a few of these and I understand what is happening enough to be able to parse it correctly in my head so that I can possibly recreate it later. One I'm having a hard time getting my head wrapped around though are the following two commands to remove all spaces from the end of every line :%s= *$== : delete end of line blanks :%s= \+$== : Same thing I'm interpreting %s as string replacement on every line in the file, but after that I am getting lost in what looks like some gnarly variation of :s and regex. I'm used to seeing and using :s/regex/replacement. But the above is super confusing. What do those above commands mean in english, step by step?

    Hi All: I am having a problem with my sql query in c#, basically it's inline query with parameters, but when I run it it tells me that parameter 1 or parameter 2 is not there here is my query declared on top of the page as public: public const string InsertStmtUsersTable = "insert into Users (username, password, email, userTypeID, memberID, CM7Register) " + "Values(@username, @password, @email, @userTypeID, @memberID,@CM7Register ); select @@identity"; this is my code for assigning the parameters, I know I am having problem so I am assigning the params twice: Username =(cmd.Parameters["@username"].Value = row["username"].ToString()) as string; cmd.Parameters["@username"].Value = row["username"].ToString(); In 1 methopd it calls this query and tries to insert to table, here is the code: Result = Convert.ToInt32(SqlHelper.ExecuteScalar(con, CommandType.Text,InsertStmtUsersTable)); Exact error message is: Must declare the variable '@username'.

  • How do I create a thread-safe write-once read-many value in Java?

    This is a problem I encounter frequently in working with more complex systems and which I have never figured out a good way to solve. It usually involves variations on the theme of a shared object whose construction and initialization are necessarily two distinct steps. This is generally because of architectural requirements, similar to applets, so answers that suggest I consolidate construction and initialization are not useful. By way of example, let's say I have a class that is structured to fit into an application framework like so: public class MyClass { private /*ideally-final*/ SomeObject someObject; MyClass() { someObject=null; } public void startup() { someObject=new SomeObject(...arguments from environment which are not available until startup is called...); } public void shutdown() { someObject=null; // this is not necessary, I am just expressing the intended scope of someObject explicitly } } I can't make someObject final since it can't be set until startup() is invoked. But I would really like it to reflect it's write-once semantics and be able to directly access it from multiple threads, preferably avoiding synchronization. The idea being to express and enforce a degree of finalness, I conjecture that I could create a generic container, like so: public class WoRmObject<T> { private T object; WoRmObject() { object=null; } public WoRmObject set(T val) { object=val; return this; } public T get() { return object; } } and then in MyClass, above, do: private final WoRmObject<SomeObject> someObject; MyClass() { someObject=new WoRmObject<SomeObject>(); } public void startup() { someObject.set(SomeObject(...arguments from environment which are not available until startup is called...)); } Which raises some questions for me: Is there a better way, or existing Java object (would have to be available in Java 4)? Is this thread-safe provided that no other thread accesses someObject.get() until after it's set() has been called. The other threads will only invoke methods on MyClass between startup() and shutdown() - the framework guarantees this. Given the completely unsynchronized WoRmObject container, it is ever possible under either JMM to see a value of object which is neither null nor a reference to a SomeObject? In other words, does has the JMM always guaranteed that no thread can observe the memory of an object to be whatever values happened to be on the heap when the object was allocated.

How can I parse this binary string? Or maybe there is a better way to send matrix from PHP to Silverlight?

  • Android - cant read TXT files from SDcard on real mashine?

When I run the code bellow in the virtual android (1.5) it works well, TextSwitcher shows first 80 chars from each txt file from /sdcard/documents/ , but when I run it on my Samsung Galaxy i7500 (1.6) there are no contents in TextSwitcher, however in LogCat there are FileNames of txt files.     Hi, I am using - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation{ return YES; } to allow rotation, which works fine - except that the landscape view jumps backwards up the page that is being displayed. I can't figure out what I should be looking at to fix it. I just want the page to rotate where it is. Any pointers would be great. Am a noob, as is probably clear. Thanks Jonathan

    hello i have a java applet application in which i use rich text area . i write URDU the national language of PAKISTAN. i managed to do so with uni codes. the problem is, when i write urdu in text area and select a font and color for each line it do all of this but when i save this file using UTF-8 encoding and then open it again it shows all text formatted as i choose format of last line. my requirement is to open file as it is saved. i mean each file should have same formatting as i done before saving.
