  • Tool to migrate a repo with only read access?

    I have a subversion repository located on our school servers from a project my friends and I worked on the past semester. We want to take the project and polish it and make it more of a portfolio item and I'm not quite sure that the repo will stay intact on the school servers (they usually wipe it after a few semesters). I don't have access to dump the repo, although I've sent an email to see if I can get one - which would be the best solution. I tried svnsync but the school server doesn't support the replay command (probably turned off), so that won't work for me. Now, theoretically, wouldn't it be possible to (manually or programmatically) checkout each revision of the repository and check it in to a new repository on our own server? I think it would work - there's only 3 of us, and there's no working copy conflicts that we'd have to worry about, just want a copy of all the history in the repo in case we need to go back and look at it. That being said, before I go and reinvent a wheel by writing a script to do it - does something like this already exist? I have to figure there's already a tool to do it, or that someone has wrote a script to do it.

  • How to optimize a postgreSQL server for a "write once, read many"-type infrastructure ?

    Greetings, I am working on a piece of software that logs entries (and related tagging) in a PostgreSQL database for storage and retrieval. We never update any data once it has been inserted; we might remove it when the entry gets too old, but this is done at most once a day. Stored entries can be retrieved by users. The insertion of new entries can happen rather fast and regularly, thus the database will commonly hold several millions elements. The tables used are pretty simple : one table for ids, raw content and insertion date; and one table storing tags and their values associated to an id. User search mostly concern tags values, so SELECTs usually consist of JOIN queries on ids on the two tables. To sum it up : 2 tables Lots of INSERT no UPDATE some DELETE, once a day at most some user-generated SELECT with JOIN huge data set What would an optimal server configuration (software and hardware, I assume for example that RAID10 could help) be for my PostgreSQL server, given these requirements ? By optimal, I mean one that allows SELECT queries taking a reasonably little amount of time. I can provide more information about the current setup (like tables, indexes ...) if needed.

    Hi, When consuming a webserice with CXF 2.1.4 (the generated client) I am having problem getting the response based on the following XSD snippet in the WSDL. CXF Generates a List representing it, but when I execute the service, the response comes null. I used wireshark to what I was reciving and indeed the response XMl is coming as expected, but CXF just give me null object. Below the XSD of the response object.   • How can I enable true anonymous/everyone access to a Window share?

    I recently discovered that turning off "password protected sharing" in Windows 7 requires having the guest account enabled, named as such, and with a blank password. While Windows seems to automatically attempt to use guest when connecting, Ubuntu does not, requiring anyone trying to access my share to know to use guest and a blank password. I really don't want to have the guest account enabled, either. So is there a way to allow true anonymous access to a Windows share that doesn't require credentials? Or a way to allow any credentials at all?

I've looked through the nice example in this thread but it writes the remote file to a local file.   • How to increment the string value during run time without using dr.read() and store it in the oledb

    Here is my code, everything is working fine the only problem is with the ReadData() method in which i want the string value to be increment i.e AM0001,AM0002,AM0003 etc. This is happening but only one time the value is getting increment to AM0001, the second time the same value i.e AM0001 is getting return.
