  Hi; I have a network with almost 2000 pc, on each of them i have an application installed for monitoring and mgmt, i need to check a specific value in each agent on the 2000 pc, which cant be checked unless you enter each pc and check the properties of the application ! is there any way to automate a process, script to do this.

• Can't access to access to my web server inside a network with Firewall on

  I set up a Web server with the following: There is the Internet Router, configured to Port Foward port 80 to my computer assigned to my PC's IP: 192.168.1.128 My PC is connected to that wireless router from wlan0 Then, my PC is also connected to my device (which is the webserver) with a crossover-cable usign eth0 having this anohter IP: 10.42.43.1 Finally, my device (the webserver) is connected with eth0 with this IP: 10.42.43.55 As you can see, I need to install a reverse-proxy to be able to resolve to my device's webserver. I installed pound (proxy server) in my PC and configured properly to make 192.168.1.128 resolve to 10.42.43.55 So, I just typing my ISP provided IP 200.x.x.x resolves to my device webserver. But there's a problem: I HAD TO STOP MY FIREWALL. I don't know how I need exactly configure the firewall in SUSE YAST2, or at least iptables. Stopping it is not an option, not for security reasons, just because there's port fowarding rule that is needed to give Internet access to my device too. I'm using openSUSE 12.1

• Computer runs but monitor is on power saving mode?

  This stuff rarely happens, but when it does I simply restart my PC then it works fine. But today after several restart attempts it seems to be stuck. I tried removing the video card then switched to onboard video, same thing: The PC runs, (there's power and fans are working) but the monitor is stuck on power saving mode (blank screen). Is this a monitor or PC problem? Any ideas what might be the problem? I'm Windows 7 btw.

  I'm reinstalling a Windows 7 PC and want backup all the system, application and users data to latter decide what data can be useful. What directories I must backup? I will format the PC and all importante data must be saved. I have doubts particularly about C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData and how save it using a Ubuntu live CD in case I don't have access to the Windows 7 PC. AppData have a lot of syslink inside!

• User Group Policy in Server 2008 to set Default Profile settings

  I have computers to deploy and want to apply changes to the default user policy on these PCs automatically. What's the best way to do this? Our current procedure is: Create the computer account in an OU called "Deployment" on our server Unbox the PC Login as the user who will be receiving the PC Change settings (pre-configure outlook, authorize Office, etc.) move computer account to correct OU Place the PC on the users desk. I would like to make as many of the changes in step #4 with Group Policies applied to the Deployment OU if possible since they're largely repeated for every computer. There are a dozen policies created and the computer ones apply correctly but the user policies do not. I understand this is because the end user is not in our "Deployment" OU. I don't want to apply these settings to the user at their current station just the new PC I'm working on. I believe I have the desired effect with Group Policy Loopback Replace enabled on policies that need user policies changed but this just feels wrong/inefficient/complicated to maintain. Am I doing this correctly? Is Group Policy Loopback the only way to change user accounts on one computer? What do you do to setup a user on a new PC?

• Windows xp blinking under score after bios

  so this is for an older pc I have to repair for a friend. The pc has an hdd of about 60 something gb, It uses win xp and let's say 60-70% of the boots it hangs on showing only an underscore bilking line after bios screen, rest of the times it boots fine or the computer shuts down on xp loading screen. Sometimes if you let it alone while the underscore is blinking, it will boot after a while, like a few minutes, some times it won't boot at all even if you give him more time, like one hour. When it boots successfully the pc seems to work fine. I think it's a bad hard disk and i'm about to suggest buying a new one and switching it but I don't have enough experience and i would hate making him buy a new hdd and not solving the problem. anyone has any tips? I know there are other topics about blinking underscores or cursors while xp is booting but the issues about the pc shutting itself down or sometimes booting really freaks me out. Can't format everything and re install until about 10 days from now, cause the dude has some program for his business on this pc and I have to migrate it when the next computer arrives, however he needs to use it until then. so please advise, thx.

• Video adapter problem on new motherboard

  Something bad happened to my PC several days ago. I wasn't near my PC, so I have no idea about what happened it was just halted. When I tried to boot it was entering infinite loops of a few seconds power up (cpu, hdds, etc) and then power down. I've tried to boot the system with no additional components (that includes hdd, video, network adapters and even memory) connected and that didn't solved the problem, so I've made a decision that most likely it's either some a problem with power unit or with motherboard. I've tried to replace my power unit by another one (which was expected to be working) and the problem didn't resolved again. I've bought a new MB (ASUS P5KPL-AM SE) and tried to get it running with my old CPU and memory (I hope it's still alive). Since this MB include on-board video I've tried to run the PC without installation of mine video. The PC wasn't running and the BIOS was beeping one long signal following by two short (Does it means a video problem?). After that I've installed my video adapter to PCI-E slot and tried to boot the system again and the BIOS was beeping the same. I don't get it. I may expect some problem with CPU and/or memory since I don't know what happened to my PC (maybe some power failure or something different), but not with video and not with on-board video on newly bought MB. How can I understand what's wrong with my system now?

• Cannot Ping PS3 Using a Wired Connection

  PS3 is using the inbuilt wireless network adapter (I cannot change this) When I try to ping the PS3 from ANY computer which is on a wired ethernet connection, I get Request Timed Out errors. Whenever I ping from a computer with a wireless connection, it works just fine. To be clear: Pinging from Wireless PC to Wireless PS3 works Pinging from Wired PC to Wireless PS3 fails I have tried this on several PC's and Laptops all with the same results. As an attempted solution I have set up static IP's on all related devices. More information: Default Gateway = 192.168.2.1 PS3(wireless) = 192.168.2.100 PC(wired) = 192.168.2.99 Subnet Mask(for both devices, I have made sure) = 255.255.255.0 Thanks

  I'm trying to establish a connection between this app and my Win 8.1 Pro PC, but every guide I've found so far skip steps such as what to put under PC name or under Gateway. Also, should the User name be my email or something else? I've also no idea how to find or add a user in the step 6 of this guide because the only location listed is my PC and I don't even know what am I supposed to search for. I'm not even sure whether I have to add a user or this is an step I can skip. A comprehensive guide for people without experience in networking would be highly appreciated. Both my android tablet and PC are connected to the internet through a home router, in case this matters.

• UBUNTU 12.10 loaded. after that boot sector changed from win to grub

  After installing Ubuntu 12.10, to my pc and giving a patjh in the external HD, its root dir only went into that and all files on the hd of my PC.Now i required the Ex HD everytime to go to either Win or Linux. I deleted the partition made by linux from disk management of Win, and now want to change the boot sector of my HD of PC back to win. Pc is not starting up and showing Grub failure. I have the original win 7 os. I tried with that going to the command line, but what is the command that takes me to DVD. I ve tried 'cd dvd' and 'cd/ dvd'. Plese help.

  I'd like to be able to SSH to my Ubuntu 10.04 office PC from the outside. I am thus thinking to start up an SSH daemon on the PC. What are the security issues, possible glitches, specific configuration settings, etc. I should be aware of? In case it matters: this is essentially for my own use only, I don't think there will be other people using it; it's an Ubuntu 10.04 PC in a mostly Windows 7/Vista/XP environment.

Now, I sometimes face an issue where both machine PC and machine MAC have different versions of the same code, and I would like them to share a common source. • What are the reasons why outlook looses configurations?

  Can't seem to establish any logic why outlook suddenly looses its profile coniguration settings intermittently. I work for an IT Contact Centre but it hurts when someone asks me why they loose their outlook profiles suddenly, and some most of the time. I know there are lots of reasons but I'm not sure which ones are the best. Could it be that the PC in a hurge corporate organization will not be connected to the network properly so the profile gets corrupted for outlook? But they don't usually shut down the PC after office hours due to the fact that its a 24 hours operations. On top of that, when users are migrated to Windows 7 / Office 2010 and then logs on to this pc, then opens outlook, then logs off then goes back to a Windows XP PC and opens outlook 2003 the profile is again lost. Again why is this? Is there anyone out there whose facing same connection/outlook profile issues getting lost for no apparent reason?

  The advantages of using the Oracle Metadata Services Repository as a central storage for the metadata. SCA has been available since the release of the Oracle SOA Suite 11g. This technology combines and orchestrates several SOA components inside an SCA composite, making design, development, deployment, and maintenance easier. SCA development is metadata-driven, meaning that metadata artifacts, such as Web Services Description Language (WSDL), XML Schema Definition (XSD), XML, others, define the composite's behavior. With the increased number of composites and the dependencies among them, it became necessary to manage all the metadata in an adequate way. This article will address the advantages of using the Oracle Metadata Services (MDS) repository as a central storage for the metadata. The MDS repository is a central part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware landscape, managing the metadata for several technologies, such as Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF), Oracle WebCenter, and the Oracle SOA Suite. This article is divided into three parts. The first part provides an overview of SCA and MDS. The second part describes some MDS tasks that help in the management of the SCA metadata files inside the repository. • stress testing opencl/Ati GPU on 12.04

  What does people normally use to stress test their GPU on ubuntu 12.04? I tried installing Phoronix Benchmark suite ubuntu .deb but it tries to install freeglu3-dev and at the same time complains about $ phoronix-test-suite benchmark pts/opencl The following dependencies are needed and will be installed: freeglut3-dev This process may take several minutes. Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... Reading state information... freeglut3-dev is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 90 not upgraded. There are dependencies still missing from the system: - OpenGL Utility Kit / GLUT 1: Ignore missing dependencies and proceed with installation. 2: Skip installing the tests with missing dependencies. 3: Re-attempt to install the missing dependencies. 4: Quit the current Phoronix Test Suite process. Missing dependencies action: 4 so even if it is installing freeglu3, it still complains about missing GLUT. You can't win against GLUT it seems So, what does people use for this? i mean, really, because i have tried googling for an hour and it is not paying up Thanks!

A very interesting session because everyone had a very clear view on the Oracle SOA Suite and a technical background. What we wanted to do was creating a common view on what a Service-Oriented Architecture is, what the benefits are that can be achieved and what is needed to create a Service-Oriented Architecture. During this very interactive session we moved from a clearly technology view on the matter (Oracle SOA Suite) to an architectural view slicing from business to technology.   This terms is often used with many meanings.  For example, some people consider Flash 'open' and 'multi-platform' .  But Flash is a product of Adobe systems, locked down, copy protected and distribution restricted.  And versions for other than standard PC, home use, may carry licence fees. For the avoidance of doubt, and by example only, you may not use an Adobe Runtime on any (a) mobile device, set top box (STB), handheld, phone, web pad, tablet and Tablet PC (other than with Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and its successors), game console, TV, DVD player, media center (other than with Windows XP Media Center Edition and its successors), electronic billboard or other digital signage, Internet appliance or other Internet-connected device, PDA, medical device, ATM, telematic device, gaming machine, home automation system, kiosk, remote control device, or any other consumer electronics device, (b) operator-based mobile, cable, satellite, or television system or (c) other closed system device.
