• Unknown protocol when trying to connect to remote host with stunnel

  I'm trying to set up a stunnel for WebDav on Windows. I want to connect 80 port on my local interface to 443 on another machine in my network. I can ping the machine remote machine. However when I use the tunnel, I'm getting this error all the time SSL state (accept): before/accept initialization SSL_accept: 140760FC: error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol There is nothing in the logs on the other machine and here's my stunnel connection config [https] accept = 127.0.0.2:80 connect = 10.0.0.60:443 verify = 0 I've set it up to accept all certificates so this shouldn't be a problem with a self-signed certificate remote host uses. Does anyone knows what might be the problem that this connection cannot be eastablished?

  I'm in need of an application that can manage multiple Internet Explorer instances (to be precise nomerge sessions) like you can in Remote Desktop Manager with RDPs. This app should host them in single window and arrange IE instances e.g. in tabs or lists. OK, in Remote Desktop Manager you can create Web session, but in embedded mode you cannot set the nomerge option - all windows and tabs share the same session. I've been searching the web, but with no results. So I put this question whether anyone know of such application or any workaround. Or I have to write my own app?

• EC2 instance store cloning or to ebs via guy management console

  I have found similar questions here but the answer are either outdated or are from the command line. The case is this. I have an EC2 instance using instance store (this was the only AMI available for Debian 6 in Ireland). Now through the AWS GUI I can do a snapshot of the instance volume and/or even create a volume. But an image made from the snapshot doesn't boot. What is the best solution to either clone an EC2 instance that uses instance store OR from the created snapshot of the instance store to launch a new EBS instance (identical clone) FROM the gui aws management console and not command line ? Before turning this down consider that there is not similar question on how to do it via the aws management console. hint can't be done is not an appropriate answer. As you can create a snapshot of the instance store backed instance and/or a volume and create an AMI from that snapshot.

• Color Management, Linux, Photoshop C2 via Wine

  I am new to Color Management CMS, so doing it on Linux, and then throw Wine into the mix ... and I am a little lost. However, I have Photoshop CS2 running okay with Crossover Professional on Ubuntu 9.10. I have a Canon 450D (Rebel XSI) and I imagine I will be able to find a profile for my printer. I ordered a Huey Calibrator (yet to come). I guess I will run into problems with Nvidia Twinview, but one calibrated monitor is good enough for now. Am I going to be able to get color management from Camera -- Monitor -- Print? Most specifically, when I get the Monitor profile loaded with something like xcalib, will Photoshop CS2 run through wine (crossover Pro) understand that? Will I need to select specific things / profiles in photoshop under the edit::Color Settings menu? I found several pages on http://jcornuz.wordpress.com/ helpful, but am wondering about the Wine issue, and anything else anyone can do to help.

Situation we have a remote Windows Server 2008R2 VPS and i just installed the Active Directory Domain Services Role. A DNS Server was also configured by default at the end of the Active Directory installation. Problem I can't get my Windows 7 machine to register itself to the domain i have just created Question What are the steps i have to take to test my Active Directory configuration, and how do i connect clients to this Domain? • Get sessions' remote IP from Teamviewer log file

  I'd like to know who has logged in to my machine and when. I have two TeamViewer log files: Connections_incoming.txt and TeamViewer7_Logfile.log. The first one is quite plain and lists, as its name says, the incoming connections to the machine, reporting the local name of the remote host, login time, logout time, and some ids. e.g.: 173274362 MYLAPTOP 20-02-2012 17:32:16 20-02-2012 17:50:42 Master RemoteControl {C5AAE483-ED0B-54B8-9235-7AE597CAD342} This is almost all what I need, but unfortunately no remote IP address is reported here, so I checked for IPs in TeamViewer7_Logfile.log but it is really messy. It indeed contains some IP addresses but I can't understand which one is bound with the items in the first log file. Is there a way to interpolate the two logs to get what I need? Should I search the second file for some particular text? What do you suggest?

  I am trying to check if an IIS application pool exists on a remote server using a PowerShell script. The command I am running is: test-path "IIS:\AppPools\DefaultAppPool" If I run this script directly on the IIS server in question I get a response back of "True" so this tells me that I have IIS management correctly configure in PowerShell. However when I run the following script from a remote server I get a response of "False" invoke-command -ComputerName IISSERVER -ScriptBlock { test-path "IIS:\AppPools\DefaultAppPool" } I know that PowerShell remoting is correctly configured because I can run the following command and get a list of files invoke-command -ComputerName IISSERVER -ScriptBlock { get-childitems "c:\" } So why am I getting the wrong response about the existence of the application pool?

• Re-deploy only the reports on SCOM Management Packs

  I've migrated Reporting Services on a SCOM 2007 R2 install, and noticed that the reports have not being copied. I can create a new report, but the ones I've had because of the management packs are gone. I've tried re-applying the Management Packs however it doesn't re-deploy them and when I try to access for example: Monitoring - Microsoft Windows Print Server - Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Print Services - State View - select any item and click Alerts on the right menu. I get the following error: Date: 12/24/2010 12:40:35 PM Application: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Application Version: 6.1.7221.0 Severity: Error Message: Cannot initialize report. Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: The item '/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Library/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Alert' cannot be found.   I have a windows server which I can access locally or remotely over the internet through remote desktop connection, etc. I want to set up a git repository (something similar to "trunk" in subversion), that can contain a series of repositories for multiple projects. Does anyone know how I go about doing this? I want to do it using a GUI if possible. I have followed this Git Bash Tutorial but it's very long winded and not exactly what I'm after. I'm using a Git client called MSYSGIT. Using this I just want to be able to set up remote repositories and start committing source code. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In our environment the end user Remote Desktop Client settings take precedence. If printing is disabled on the client but enabled in the user's AD profile then printing is not available. Is this working by design or can I change something to allow the user environment settings in AD to override the end user settings RDC settings?

  I am considering opting for a VPS solution, with the server running Ubuntu server. I am pretty new to this, and I need to come up with a backup policy for my server data. Initial data is likely to be about 80Mb, and I expect the data to grow at approximately 5Mb to 10 Mb a day. Can anyone recommend: A backup/restore policy (best practises for a small startup) Which tools to use for backup? Another thing that is not clear to me is - where are the files backed up to normally (in the case of remote servers). If the files are backed up to the same machine (or even to another machine but with the same host), there is potentially, a single point of failure). How do people normally backup their server data, and is the probability of machine meltdown or the host company server farm "catching fire" so remote as not to be worth worrying about - especially for a small (read one man) startup like me?

I open the run window type mstsc /multimon and press enter, also "use all my monitors for the remote session" is checked.By this way RDC is opening but only in one monitor.Do I need to do any changes on host too?   I've posted this here as its more of a mysql questions than c#, I have written some software that runs a local instance of mysql when it first starts, now once mysql is up I would like to synchronize the data between the remote database table and the local database table that the software runs (it shouldn't sync any other databases / tables as there are a lot). I have replication setup to synchronize the entire database to another server which works unless the server goes down then it never comes back up, so based on that I don't think replication will work as when the software is closed it also closes MySQL. So what would be the best method of synchronizing the remote and local databases?

• IBM storage ds3400 Cant connect to management using fiber

  i have a problem with a DS3400 IBM storage system we bought a few years back. when i try to manage the storage using its IBM storage management i cant find it using automatic detection even though its connected directly using the fiber and i can see the Logical drives connected and working properly. when i tried to connect the two management Ethernet wires and manage the storage directly by entering the IP address manually i am able to connect however after i make several changes to the controller configuration one of the controllers stops responding and i am not able to ping it directly (since you cant make any changes without being connected to both controllers this is a problem) whats more bizarre is that when i change the IP of the controller that doesn't respond it starts working .. i have found some articles over the web explaining stuff about LUN31 being missing and causing similar problems however all my attempts to manually configure it failed . *link to an example http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5075711 in short im trying to get my storage to appear in the storage manager when directly connected using only the fiber cable directly attached. thanks in advance

  Hi all, When I installed MySQL server in Windows, there was an option "Allow root connection from remote machine". I checked that option and I had no probs when using it. I installed MySQL server in Ubuntu 9.04 using apt-get install. I can connect to the sql server from the same machine but when I try to connect from a virtual machine, it doesn't work. My guess is that I should allow root connection from remote machine. How to do that?

Is there a way to force the display to appear on the monitor of the local machine (a.corp)?

  I have a remote location that has constant internet access using DSL. The remote location only has three Linksys cameras that use the internet access with a router. There is no computer on the network. The router is configured to use the DYN.org service to keep the IP address updated if the internet provider assigns a new ip address. The problem I am having is the router after a period of time stops responding to incoming ping requests and the cameras are shown offline. However, if I keep one of the cameras constantly streaming data then the connection to all the cameras works just fine all the time. How can I keep the router from appearing to be sleeping and not responding to incoming requests? The router is the Linksys WRT300N.

  I have a Netgear ProSafe UTM. I set the Gateway local ID to it's WAN IP. But I'm not sure what to put for it's Remote ID. I want to be able to connect to it from a laptop across the internet. I can chose between: Remote IP FQDN Client FQDN Cert DN Frankly I've tried them messing around with them all but I'm just shooting in the dark, and the help desk docs are worthless.
