• Where should I put some code for loading application data?

  I have a tab-bar and navigation controller application (like Youtube app or Contacts app). Where is the correct place to have the code for loading some data from the web? These data are necessary for all the tabs of the Tab Controller and the app can't display anything before all data are downloaded and parsed from the app (except a loading indicator view of course). Up to now I put it in the AppDelegate but it somehow doesn't feel right.. What's the correct way to do it? Thanks!

  With combo box controls, I'm used to being able tab to them, click the down arrow key to open up the options, and then use the up and down arrow keys to navigate those options. In an Access form I've designed, pressing down while a combo box is active moves to the next control. I already have tab for that, so how can I get the down arrow to behave as I expect? These combo boxes are the only thing between me and a mouse-free form, which I consider essential for data entry. Thanks in advance for your help!

  I am working on a .NET 2.0 application targetting the WM5 SDK, what is the correct way to disable the gesture functionality when running on a WM6.5.3 device that only affects the forms I am using? This is causing an issue when I have a signature capture control inside a tab control - when the signature is entered it's quite common for the tab control to switch tabs as WM6.5.3 picks it up as a gesture. I don't want to disable the gesture functionality device wide, nor can I upgrade the application to target the WM6.5.3 SDK as it still needs to work on older devices. Cheers

  No nib/IB, so I've inserted "myAppDelegate" in main and deleted the reference to main.xib in info.plist. Debug continues nicely through all five tab controllers; they seem to have gotten properly loaded into the nav controller. In fact, control passes out of the last "}" in applicationDidFinishLaunching. But there was no (visible) response back at [window addSubview:[tabBarController view]]; and [window makeKeyAndVisible]; statements, much less to the loadView within the first tab (program execution never gets there). The last line is, UIApplication _performInitializationWithURL:sourceBundleID:]. I missed a step? I executed a step improperly?

• jQuery ajax request to php, how to return plain text only

  I am making an ajax request to a php page and I cannot for the life of me get it to just return plain text. $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: '/shipping/test.php', cache: false, dataType: 'text', data: myData, success: function(data){ console.log(data) } }); in test.php I am including this script to get UPS rates. I am then calling the function with $rate = ups($dest_zip,$service,$weight,$length,$width,$height); I am doing echo $rate; at the bottom of test.php. When viewed in a browser shows the rate, that's great. But when I request the page via ajax I get a bunch of XML. Pastie here: http://pastie.org/1416142 My question is, how do I get it so I can just return the plain text string from the ajax call, where the result data will be a number?   My accordion is working properly, but I'm having a few CSS and JS issues that are prohibiting it from displaying correctly. http://jsfiddle.net/frEWQ/ The JS is applying .ui-corners-all to the H3 before the "kwick" div below it has finished collapsing, giving an odd cut-off border during the animation The margin-bottom applied to the "kwick" div to give spacing between each tab disappears when the tab is set to display:none, getting rid of the spacing... but I can't apply the margin-bottom to the header because it disconnects the header from the "kwick" div below it. Any suggestions? Modification to the JS/CSS? Thanks

In order to properly pass credentials from the client, thru the WCF service back to the SQL back end the domain account used to run the service must be configured in Active Directory with the setting "Trust this user for delegation" (Properties - "Delegation" tab). Using C#, how do I access the settings on this tab in Active Directory. I've spent the last 5 hours trying to track this down on the web and can't seem to find it. I think it is tied to the "Account Options" section on the "Account" tab, which is not what we're looking for but this is the closest I've gotten so far. The justification for all this is: We do not have permission to setup the service in QA or in Production, so along with our written instructions (which are notoriously only followed in partial) I am creating a tool that will audit the setup (WCF and SQL) to determine if the setup is correct. This will allow the person deploying the service to run this utility and verify everything is setup correctly - saving us hours of headaches and reducing downtime during deployment.

  I've a webpage with one text-box and one button. Click on button will show a popup for searching. On popup page,has 2 buttons, "Search" and "Close". Input the text and click Search, the result will display on a list on this popup, click on a row will close the popup and fill the value to text-box on main-page. On Destop browser, it works fine On Safari on iPad, it will open new tab instead of a popup but work fine. UIWebview in my app, on main-page, click the button, I will go to Search page, but when click Search button and close button, nothing happened, I know because 2 buttons will close the popup or the tab, but I don't know how to handle on my Webview, and also I can fill data to main-page or not? • dijit hovering MenuItem issue

  I have a dijit.layout.TabContainer on my form. I resize the browser window in such a way that all tabs won't fit in a single screen. In this case dijit automatically adds a drop-down button at the right end of the TabContainer (I get this for free). If I click on the drop-down button then I get the full List of Tab Names. Hovering over the List of Tab Names (which is in fact a collection of menu items) it blanks out the menu item name which I'm currently over. e.g. Full List: Tab1 Tab2 Tab3 Hovering over Tab2 I get: Tab1 Tab3 I get the same issue with any other dijit.Menu, dijit.MenuItem AND I get the same issue on IE, Firefox, Chrome. I haven't tested on any other browser. Thanks.

Each module in application could create own tab in Ribbon. And each tab may have many groups. How can it be done? Where do I need to place each group's definitions (what controls to use (buttons, textboxes, comboboxes, etc) and command bindings and how? Do I need to write XAML somewhere in Module, or all it can be done by code? And last question, how to notify Ribbon (in Shell) to add these tabs to Ribbon? • Delphi : Restore a pre-design tabsheet after user has closed it...

  Hello, I have a tPageControl on a form, and have made a nice 'welcome page' as a new ttabsheet at design time for the user to start off with. However, if the user closes this tab, I would like the option to bring it back, as it was in originally (much like the welcome page in the Delphi IDE). This seems like a simple problem... When the tab closes, the original sheet is freed and set nil. I tried creating the sheet again by name (e.g. tabsheet1 := ttabsheet.create) and assigning it to the pagecontrol, but none of the original components from the sheet are there anymore... I know designing the welcome page as a separate form, creating it when I need it and slapping it into a new tabsheet would work... but I was just wondering if there was a way to do it with the design time tabsheet. One of the pre-requisite is obviously to color the current tab differently, so the user can know on which tab is currently is.   I got an app with tabs and a notification bar entry, when I send it to background (click on home button) and try to re-open the application via click on the notification bar, the app restarts (last selected tab is lost). When I hold the home button if the application is in the background and select it from there or click the app's icon on the homescreen, the previous state is restored per default (the correct tab is selected) IMO the intent of the notification is wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it. In short: How to get a background application back to foreground when I click the notification entry? thx!

  I would like a hotkey to Save All in Notepad++ then switch to the browser and refresh the page. I have to do this thousands of times a day and doing the Save All hotkey, then Alt-Tab to the right window, then F5 to refresh again and again, there must be a better solution? I am open to switching editors if there is another that can do this. I have tried using run commands but the problem is although it allows you to make something like [firefox.exe "current file"], if you come down to wanting to open it at a web address like localhost because it needs to run server side, then you have to manually specify the other part of the string, like [chrome.exe "custom var(web address) / filename"] and it always opens a new tab, then creates lots of clutter. Also, if you are editing an include file then it will try to open that instead of the page you want to see when you use the run command, a refresh would be the only realistic method I can think of using.

• How to record when user follows external links without slowing user down

  I want to track when user clicks external links for analytics purposes. The simplest solution is to replace all external links with links to special record-and-redirect controller, but that would slow the user unnecessarily. The second idea would be to override click event and within in $.post a message to record controller, then let the main event handler happen, which will usually be either click (open link in same tab) or middle click (open in new tab) - good either way, and the user won't have to wait for wait for my server to record it, it's fire-and-forget. (I don't care if users without Javascript don't get tracked) Is that a reasonable way to go? Or what else would be the best way to track all external link clicks?

  I have a very strange bug, which I believe is caused by some code we have executing, but I'm not sure where. We can reproduce it to the point it happens whenever we click Tab, but short of putting a break point at the beginning of every method in the project to find out what is executing. Is there a way to set visual studio to break whenever anything executes? For those curious about the problem, every now and then, we have a few Rich Text Boxes that refuse to lose focus. You can't click out of it or tab out of it. We have no On Validation or On Text Changed events attached to the control, and believe it's an event attached somewhere else to something we just aren't noticing.

(this represents a machine and all elements need to be interactable..) It takes 3/4 seconds for drawing this for the first time..After the first draw it should be done.. The problem is if i switch to another tab and comeback, it takes atlease 2,3 seconds to show the tabpage with drawing again.. Since there is no redraw, why should it take so much time..?
