  • Alt + # shorcut, how to remove?

    Being a World of Warcraft player, I use keyboard combinations to cast spells and "alt + #" is one of the combination, # being the key just before the 1 2 3 4 [...], under "escape" and on top of "tab" (I have a "French(canada)" keyboard). I've searched in the keyboard options, the shorcuts parts and I found nothing, I even tried to assign it randomly, hopping it'll overwrite the real shorcut but it didn't. When I press "alt + #" I have a "alt + tab" like but just for one type of window. For exemple it'll make me navigate through many instances of folder, but it won't switch to another application. It just cycle through the open windows of one application. Help me get rid of this annoying shorcut please ! Thanks in advance.

  • SSMS Tools Pack 3.0 is out. Full SSMS 2014 support and improved features.

    With version 3.0 the SSMS 2014 is fully supported. Since this is a new major version you'll eventually need a new license. Please check the EULA to see when. As a thank you for your patience with this release, everyone that bought the SSMS Tools Pack after April 1st, the release date of SQL Server 2014, will receive a free upgrade. You won't have to do anything for this to take effect. First thing you'll notice is that the UI has been completely changed. It's more in line with SSMS and looks less web-like. Also the core has been updated and rewritten in some places to be better suited for future features. Major improvements for this release are: Window Connection Coloring Something a lot of people have asked me over the last 2 years is if there's a way to color the tab of the window itself. I'm very glad to say that now it is. In SSMS 2012 and higher the actual query window tab is also colored at the top border with the same color as the already existing strip making it much easier to see to which server your query window is connected to even when a window is not focused. To make it even better, you can not also specify the desired color based on the database name and not just the server name. This makes is useful for production environments where you need to be careful in which database you run your queries in. Format SQL The format SQL core was rewritten so it'll be easier to improve it in future versions. New improvement is the ability to terminate SQL statements with semicolons. This is available only in SSMS 2012 and up. Execution Plan Analyzer A big request was to implement the Problems and Solutions tooltip as a window that you can copy the text from. This is now available. You can move the window around and copy text from it. It's a small improvement but better stuff will come. SQL History Current Window History has been improved with faster search and now also shows the color of the server/database it was ran against. This is very helpful if you change your connection in the same query window making it clear which server/database you ran query on. The option to Force Save the history has been added. This is a menu item that flushes the execution and tab content history save buffers to disk. SQL Snippets Added an option to generate snippet from selected SQL text on right click menu. Run script on multiple databases Configurable database groups that you can save and reuse were added. You can create groups of preselected databases to choose from for each server. This makes repetitive tasks much easier New small team licensing option A lot of requests came in for 1 computer, Unlimited VMs option so now it's here. Hope it serves you well.

  • How to Export a Contact to and Import a Contact from a vCard (.vcf) File in Outlook 2013

    vCard is the abbreviation for Virtual Business Card and is the standard format (.vcf files) for electronic business cards. vCards allow you to create and share contact information over the internet, such as in email messages and instant messaging. You can also use vCards to move contact information from one email or personal information management program to another, as long as both programs support the .vcf file format. vCards can contain name and address information, as well as phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, images, and audio clips. We will show you how to export a contact to and import a contact from a vCard, or .vcf file, in Outlook. First access the People section by clicking People at the bottom of the Outlook window. To view your contact in business card format, click Business Card in the Current View section of the Home tab. Select a contact by clicking on the name bar at the top of the business card. To export the selected contact as a vCard, click the File tab. On the Account Information screen, click Save As in the list of options on the left. The Save As dialog box displays. By default, the name of the contact is used to name the .vcf file in the File name edit box. Change the name, if desired, select a location for the file, and click Save. The contact is saved as a .vcf file. To import a vCard, or .vcf file, into Outlook, simply double-click on the .vcf file. By default, .vcf files are automatically associated with Outlook, so the file is opened in Outlook as a Contact. Make any changes or additions to the contact in the contact editing window. To save the contact, click Save & Close in the Actions section of the Contact tab. NOTE: Notice that because this contact is new, the full contact editing window displays rather than the Contact Card that displays when double-clicking on a contact. You can open the full contact editing window instead of the Contact Card when editing a contact or searching for a contact. The contact is added to the Contacts folder. You can add your contact information to a signature in business card format, and it will display as shown above in emails. We have covered how to create signatures and will be discussing more about signatures and business cards in Outlook.

  • Why compiz or unity refresh screen by every movement I do? [closed]

    It's getting me crazy! compiz or unity refresh screen (like I run compiz --replace or unity --replace) by every movement I do (e.g ctrl+tab, super+w) and somehow unexpectedly! sometimes it failed to reload title bar and keyboard functions like ctrl+tab and alt+F2 stop working, and I had no chance but reboot! Sometimes it work without any problem. I couldn't found any reason why this happen. I wanted to report a bug but I don't have enough information about it.

  • Playing audio stream not showing in pavucontrol

    My Pulse Audio Volume Control (pavucontrol) is not shown volume bar which present below the volume control slider for right and left channels in the Play tab . However, I can hear audio,and the pavucontrol Play tab shows the name of the application(any media player vlc,mplayer etc.) which is running and volume control for right and left channels (FROM LEFT & FROM RIGHT Volume slider) I guess there may be a change in the system configuration/setting? How to reset it? I have reinstalled Pulseaudio, but the problem remains. I am using ubuntu 12.04 with default pulse audio.

  • Compiz features stopped working when an external monitor is attached

    Running 12.04 on a thinkpad T520 with nVidia NVIDIA Quadro NVS 4200M graphics. Just updated to the lasted nvidia 310 driver. Everything works great. However, as soon as I attached an external monitor using nvidia twinview, compiz features such as scale (moves all the active windows in one page) stopped working, as well as alt-tab to list all opened programs. Any ideas how i can fix this? never had this problem with 11.04. I can post my xorg.conf if that's of use to you. Thanks much! edit 1: I am using gnome3 classic edit 2: alt-tab works -- compiz application switcher (by default for gnome3 / unity) will crash gnome-classic, by changing to "static application switcher" in compiz seemed to solve the problem, but the scale still does not work when an external monitor is attached.

  • Missing Firefox app icon

    I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 (upgraded from LTS 10.04) and Firefox (version 11) doesn't show it's icon in the Window List panel, in the Firefox window top left corner (system menu) nor when using ALT+TAB to switch applications. I'm using unity 2D since I'm running ubuntu as a guest in a VMWare virtual machine (Host is windows 7) Instead of the Firefox icon I get what appears to be a generic icon that looks like an app window in the window list and a black rectangle with a curl in the bottom right corner in the ALT+TAB window. How do I fix this so that the proper Firefox icon gets displayed? EDIT: Depending on the icon set chosen in the Appearence settings window sometimes I get the icon, sometimes I don't. When using Ubuntu classic none of the icon sets provide the icon for Firefox.

  • I have a new file type that I would like to handle in gnome how to get file properties?

    I have a new file type that I would like to handle in gnome. Establishing a new mime type, a new thumbnailer and a new application to display the file type is done. But I need a new tab on the file properties page. This tab is analogous to the tabs for exif information for jpg files or for encoding information for video codecs, that says how long the video is. The files concerned are embroidery files and the file properties needed to be displayed are things like phisical dimentions of the design, how much thread will be used and how many colours. My belief is that with current gnome 3 this is not possible, am I right? Or should I take a wider view that in Ubuntu, anything is possible, just may be a bit difficult?

  • Which Qt4 Widgets whould I be using? [closed]

    I'm using Qt 4 to design an IDE but I'm having a hard time with the GUI design. On the left side I want to put a widget that shows the files on the current project and on the left side a similar one but with the classes, methods, etc... Which widget should I use the Tree view or the tree widget? Also, I want to have a tab widget in the center with a text edit and this items the tree widgets and the tab widget to move and resize according to the window size. How can I accomplish this?

    I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share.   • Social Media Talk: Facebook, Really?? How Has It Become This Popular??

    If you have read some of my previous posts over the past few years either here or on my personal blog David's Journal on Tap you will know I am a Social Media enthusiast. I use various social media sites everday in both my work and personal life. I was surprised to read today on Mashable.com that Facebook now Commands 41% of Social Media Trafic. When I think of the Social Media sites I use most, the sites that jump into my mind first are LinkedIn, Blogging and Twitter. I do use Facebook in both work and in my personal life but on the list of sites I use it probably ranks closer to the bottom of the list rather than the top. I know Facebook is engrained in everything these days - but really I am not a huge Facebook fan - and I am finding that over the past 3-6 months my interest in Facebook is going down rather than up. From a work perspective - SM sites let me connect with candidates and communities and they help me talk about the things that I am doing here at Oracle. From a personal perspective SM sites let me keep in touch with friends and family both here and overseas in a really simple and easy way. Sites like LinkedIn give me a great way to proactively talk to both active and passive candidates. Twitter is fantastic to keep in touch with industry trends and keep up to date on the latest trending topics as well as follow conversations about whatever keyword you want to follow. Blogging lets me share my thoughts and ideas with others and while FB does have some great benefits I don't think the benefits outweigh the negatives of using FB. I use TweetDeck to keep track of my twitter feeds, the latest LinkedIn updates and Facebook updates. Tweetdeck is a great tool as it consolidates these 3 SM sites for me and I can quickly scan to see the latest news on any of them. From what I have seen from Facebook it looks like 70%-80% of people are using FB to grow their farm on farmville, start a mafia war on mafiawars or read their horoscope, check their love percentage, etc...... In between all these "updates" every now and again you do see a real update from someone who actually has something to say but there is so much "white noise" on FB from all the games and apps that is hard to see the real messages from all the 'games' information. I don't like having to scroll through what seems likes pages of farmville updates only to get one real piece of information. For me this is where FB's value really drops off. While I use SM everyday I try to use SM effectively. Sifting through so much noise is not effective and really I am not all that interested in Farmville, MafiaWars or any similar game/app. But what about Groups and Facebook Ads?? Groups are ok, but I am not sure I would call them SM game changers - yes there is a group for everything out there, but a group whether it is on FB or not is only as good as the community that supports and participates in it. Many of the Groups on FB (and elsewhere) are set up and never used or promoted by the moderator. I have heard that FB ads do have an impact, and I have not really looked at them - the question of cost jumps and return on investment comes to my mind though. FB does have some benefits, it is a great way to keep in touch with people and a great way to talk to others. I think it would have been interesting to see a different statistic measuring how effective that 41% of Social Media Traffic via FB really is or is it just a case of more people jumping online to play games. To me FB does not equal SM effectiveness, at the moment it is a tool that I sometimes need to use as opposed to want to use. If a process around getting software to do something is broken (like most actually are), then we should acknowledge it and move on. We are professional. We are helpful beyond the normal call of duty. We live and breathe making the lives better for those apps being active in the world. But above all--the shocker: We are SERVICE. In a service frame of mind, all perspectives shift to what is best overall for system stabilization vs. what must be in production to meet business objectives. It doesn't matter how much you like or dislike the creator of said software. It doesn't matter what time you went to bed last night or if your mate appreciates your Death March attitude. Getting a product in and when is an age-old dilemma in a software environment where more than, say, 3 people are involved. We know this. Taking a servant's perspective eliminates the drama surrounding what a group of half-baked developers forgot to tell each other in the 11th hour about their trampling changes before check-in. We, my counterparts in society, get paid to deal with that drama. I get paid to diffuse that drama and make everything integrate as smoothly as possible. At the end of the day, attacking someone over a minor detail not only makes things worse, it's against the whole point of our real existence. Being in support or software integration means you are to keep your eyes on the end game. That end game? It's making a solution work for all stakeholders, not just you or your immediate superior. Development and technology groups exist because business groups need them to exist and solve their issues. The end game? Doing what is best for those business groups ultimately. Period. Note: That does not mean you let your business users solely dictate when and if something gets changed in an environment you ultimately own. That's just crazy. Software and its environments are legitimately owned by those who manage it directly, no matter how important a business group believes it is to the existence of mankind. So, you both negotiate the terms of changing that environment and only do so upon that negotiation. Diplomacy is in order. So, to finish my thoughts: If you have no ability to keep your mouth shut in a situation where a business or development group truly need your help to make something work even beyond a deadline, find another profession. Beating up someone verbally because they screw up means a service attitude is not at the forefront of your motivation for doing what is ultimately their work and their product. Software, especially integration, requires a strong will and a soft touch to keep it on track. Not a hammer covered in broken glass.

  • MailEnable - Configuring TLS for secure SMTP (Gmail)

    I have the latest version of MailEnable Pro installed on a new server that I'm setting up. Sending & receiving works fine with a new email account that I have set up, however I am now trying to configure GMail to use the mailserver for outgoing SMTP. I've done the following so far: Creating a self-cert SSL certficiate Ticked "Enable TLS" on the General tab of the SMTP connector properties Ticked "Send using TLS if remote server supports it" on the Outbound tab of the SMTP connector properties Selected the new self-cert SSL certificate on the SSL tab of the localhost server properties. Given permissions to IME_System on the new certificate However, Gmail is still giving me the following error: Authentication failed. Please check your username/password. [Server response: 454 TLS not available due to temporary reason code(454) ] I'm trying to connect on port 25, (someone told me you can still do this and you dont have to connect on 465). Is this right? Or do I need to tell MailEnable to use port 465? Am I missing something? Thanks, Chris.
