  • Resharper intellisense confusion

    - by Mystere Man
Today I had something weird happen in my copy of Resharper 5. I have a class that looks like this: public class Foo { public string Username { get; private set; } public Foo (string userName) { Username = userName; } public void Bar() { DoWork(Username); } public DoWork(string userName) { } } When I start to type DoWork(us I get the following from intellisense: Notice that it's pulling up the constructor argument, and it ends with a colon: userName: What's going on here?

  • Assignment in conditional operator

    - by DuoSRX
I've seen a lot this kind of code recently : if ($foo = $bar->getFoo()) { baz($foo); } Is this considered good or bad practice ? For example, Netbeans IDE give a notice if you use this kind of code : Possible accidental assignment, assignments in conditions should be avoided What do you think ?

  • How to get attributes from parent?

    - by bribon
Hi all, Let's say we have these classes: class Foo(object): _bar = "" def __init__(self): self.bar = "hello" def getBar(self): return self._bar def setBar(self, bar): self._bar = bar def getAttributes(self): for attr in self.__dict__: print attr bar = property(getBar, setBar) class Child(Foo): def __init__(self): super(Child, self).__init__() self.a = "" self.b = "" if I do something like: child = Child() child.getAttributes() I get all the attributes from parent and child. How could I get the attributes only from the parent? Thanks in advance!

  • any stl/boost functors to call operator()

    - by Voivoid
template <typename T> struct Foo { void operator()(T& t) { t(); } }; Is there any standart or boost functor with the similar implementation? I need it to iterate over container of functors: std::for_each(beginIter, endIter, Foo<Bar>()); Or maybe there are other way to do it?

  • How to quickly parse a list of strings

    - by math
If I want to split a list of words separated by a delimiter character, I can use >>> 'abc, foo, bar'.split(',') ['abc', 'foo', 'bar'] But how to easily and quickly do the same thing if I also want to handle quoted-strings which can contain the delimiter character ? In: 'abc,"a string, with a comma","another, one"' Out: ['abc', 'a string, with a comma', 'another, one'] Related question: How can i parse a comma delimited string into a list (caveat)?

  • Can this be done in 1 line? [PHP]

    - by Angelo
    Can this be done in 1 line with PHP? Would be awesome if it could: $out = array("foo","bar"); echo $out[0]; Something such as: echo array("foo","bar")[0]; Unfortunately that's not possible. Would it be possible like this? So I can do this for example in 1 line: echo array(rand(1,100), rand(1000,2000))[rand(0,1)];

  • XML allows for external entities; what about XHTML?

    - by xtofl
This question about web page 'inclusion' triggered my curiosity. The XML allows you to specify a reference to an 'external' portion. Can you do the same in XHTML, then? XML example: <!ENTITY foo SYSTEM "http://www.mydomain.com/logo.gif" NDATA GIF87A> ... <SOMETHING>&foo;</SOMETHING>

  • CodeContracts: How to fullfill Require in Ctor using this() call?

    - by mafutrct
I'm playing around with Microsoft's CodeContracts and encountered a problem I was unable to solve. I've got a class with two constructors: public Foo (public float f) { Contracts.Require(f > 0); } public Foo (int i) : this ((float)i) {} The example is simplified. I don't know how to check the second constructor's f for being 0. Is this even possible with Contracts?

  • Ruby parse order

    - by bresc
Hi, given this code: class Foo def bar return Bar.new end end class Bar ... end I get this error: NameError: uninitialized constant Bar This obviously works if I put Bar before Foo but that is not a real solution though. Any ideas on how to solve this without considering the order? Many thanks.

  • creating proxy object in groovy

    - by IttayD
Hi, I am looking for how to write a method that accepts some value and returns a proxy to that value where the underlying value can be retrieved with an accessor: def p = toProxy(1) assert p == 1 assert p * 2 == 2 assert p.underlying == 1 def p2 = toProxy(objWithMethodFoo) p2.foo() p2.underlying.foo() I want to do this per object instance (not for all objects of some class) and without the need to use special 'use' constructs.

  • Serialize the @property methods in a Python class.

    - by ashchristopher
Is there a way to have any @property definitions passed through to a json serializer when serializing a Django model class? example: class FooBar(object.Model) name = models.CharField(...) @property def foo(self): return "My name is %s" %self.name Want to serialize to: [{ 'name' : 'Test User', 'foo' : 'My name is Test User', },]

  • Deleting document attachments in CouchDb

    - by henrik_lundgren
In CouchDb's documentation, the described method of deleting document attachments is to send a DELETE call to the attachment's url. However, I have noticed that if you edit the document and remove the attachment stub from the _attachment field, it will not be accessible anymore. If i remove foo.txt from the document below and save to CouchDb it will be gone the next time I access the document: { "_id":"attachment_doc", "_rev":1589456116, "_attachments": { "foo.txt": { "stub":true, "content_type":"text/plain", "length":29 } } } Is the attachment actually deleted on disk or is just the reference to it deleted?

  • How do I branch if message.properties-code exists

    - by skurt
I want to branch if a message-property-code does exist or not. <g:if test="${message(code: 'default.code.foo')}"> true </g:if><g:else> false </g:else> should answer true if there a message property named default.code.foo and false if not. It fails because it answers the code if there is no property for it.

  • Python indentation in "empty lines"

    - by niscy
Which is preferred ("." indicating whitespace)? A) def foo(): x = 1 y = 2 .... if True: bar() B) def foo(): x = 1 y = 2 if True: bar() My intuition would be B (that's also what vim does for me), but I see people using A) all the time. Is it just because most of the editors out there are broken?

  • best scala idiom for find & return

    - by IttayD
This is something I encounter frequently, but I don't know the elegant way of doing. I have a collection of Foo objects. Foo has a method bar() that may return null or a Bar object. I want to scan the collection, calling each object's bar() method and stop on the first one returning an actual reference and return that reference from the scan. Obviously: foos.find(_.bar != null).bar does the trick, but calls #bar twice.

  • Are PHP5 objects passed by reference?

    - by morpheous
I cant seem to get any consistent info on this. Different sources appear to say different things and trhe venerable php.net iteslf (appears) not to explicitly state this - although I must admit, I only had a quick look. In cases where I am passing around 'heavy' objects, I need to pass by reference, but I dont want to keep typing: function foo(TypeName& $obj) if I can get away with simply, function foo(TypeName $obj) So what does the standard say?

  • In Vim, how to swap 2 non adjacent patterns?

    - by ThG
I have lines of text, all with the same structure, and would like to make a permutation of 2 elements on all lines: 1257654 some text (which may be long) #Foo 1543098 some other text #Barbar 1238769 whatever #Baz 2456874 something else #Quux I want to obtain : #Foo some text (which may be long) 1257654 #Barbar some other text 1543098 #Baz whatever 1238769 #Quux something else 2456874 This is where I am stuck : :%s/\(\d\{7\}\)\(#.\{-}\)/\2\1/ Where did I go wrong ?
