• ASP.NET website not working properly in mobile

  I have created a simple app with a page having a server side form, three fields and a button that submits and performs two operations - 1) adds the form fields to the database table 2) sends an email. Now everything works fine on the web browser on my machine but when I access the app through my mobile, the page does not seem to work. the UI and all are set but the button click functionality doesnt seem to be working and also the label which is set after a successful submit is already visible and showing the "thank you" message. Am i doing something wrong here? I have checked the app on Nokia Smartphone browser, android phone, and iphone simulator.

• iphone - button outside MPMoviePlayerController window not responding

  I have created a MPMoviePlayerController to play a movie. As the movie likes to play landscape in full screen, when the movie is about to play, I grab its window and resize it to be smaller. At the same time, I add a view to the movie's window and this view contains several buttons, that are supposed to be around the movie. As the movie's window is reduced in size, I have to scale the buttons' view up, so the buttons do not reduce in size. I ended with this What you can see here is this: four buttons (green rectangles), the reduced movie's window and the application's window, that now is visible because the movie's window was reduced. The problem is that the buttons just work if you click on their regions inside the movie's window (A). If you click them on the region outside (B) they don't work. WHen you click on B, TouchesMoved on the main view controller receives the touch and the button doesn't do its action. How can this be solved? thanks for any help

• KeyboardWillShow with UITextView

  Here's the setup: I have a textView (txtReply) where the user puts information I have a UIView that contains a scroll view and some labels, as well as the textView (ChatView) When the user selects the textView, then it brings the keyboard up. I use 'keyboardWillAppear' to move the 'ChatView' up so that the text view is still visible. I then have a reply button that submits the message, draws it into the ChatView, and calls [textView resignFirstResponder]. However, when I do this, it calls the keyboardWillHide, my view resizes, then the it brings the keyboard back up again. Is there something special you have to do to get the keyboard to stay hidden? • How can I bind a winforms Opacity to a TrackBar (slider)

  I've got a winform with a BindingSource that has an int property named Opacity in its DataSource. I also have a TrackBar on the winform that I want to use to control the Opacity of the winform. I've bound the Value property on the TrackBar to the Opacity and that functions just fine, sliding the TrackBar will change the variable from TrackBar.Minimum (0) to TrackBar.Maximum (1). I've also bound the Opacity property of the winform to this value, however, since the TrackBar's values only go from Minimum to Maximum in +/-1 rather than +/- .1 or so (like Opacity does), it doesn't properly fade the winform. Instead, 0 will turn it opaque and 1 will turn it fully visible. I need a way to work within the architecture described above, but get the TrackBar to change its value from 0 to 1 in defined increments smaller than 1.

  Hello, all! I have a WPF view that displays a Shipment entity. I have a textblock that contains an asterisk which will alert a user that the record is changed but unsaved. I originally hoped to bind the visibility of this (with converter) to the Shipment.EntityState property. If value = EntityState.Modified Then Return Visibility.Visible Else Return Visibility.Collapsed End If The property gets updated just fine, but the view is ignorant of the change. What I need to know is, how can I get the UI to receive notification of the property change. If this cannot be done, is there a good way of writing my own IsDirty property that handles editing retractions (i.e. if I change the value of a property, then change it back to it's original it does not get counted as an edit, and state remains Unchanged). Any help, as always, will be greatly appreciated. Cory

• Modal View Controller Undesirably Hides Tab Bar

  I am working on an application that requires user authentication to access a profile. The profile section is located solely under one tab (and all others tabs do not require authentication). I currently present a authentication view controller modally (and then dismiss on success) when the user selects the profile tab. However, this approach prevents the user from deciding not to register / login (that is, all tabs are hidden once the authentication screen is presented modally). I don't want the user to be able to dismiss the modal view controller, but rather have it modal only for the profile tab. Is this possible? Can I have tabs visible while having a modal view controller? What is the best approach here. Thanks.

• How to add a view on top of a UIPopoverController

  I've got an iPad app with a “drawer” table displayed in a popover. The user can tap-and-hold on an item in the drawer to drag that item out of it and into my main view. That part works fine; unfortunately, the view being dragged appears under the popover, and is too small to be visible until it's dragged out from underneath it. If I add the view as a subview of the view controller in the popover, it gets clipped by the popover's frame, and as I can't access the UIPopoverController's view, I can't disable its layer's masksToBounds—and that probably wouldn't be a great idea anyway. I suspect that I could use an additional UIWindow with a high windowLevel value to force the dragged view to appear on top of the popover, but this seems like overkill. Is there a better solution?

  Hi all, I'm trying to use Interop to manipulate MS Project 2003 (MPP) files. My problem is that MS Project reports that the files is already opened by another user (me!) and that I can open it only as read-only. Obviously, I've tried to restart studio, then windows (xp) but with no effect. The file attribute for Readonly is cleared on the file. Any suggestions for what I might try?! • DTF CustomAction to WiX

  Hi All, I'm using a DTF immediate custom action. The Custom Action takes minimum of 5 minutes to perform its operation. Until that in the progress dialog, only the progress text is visible. The progress bar doesn't move at all. I set the ProgressText in the WiX file. How can i make the progress bar to move, so that it will be much user friendly. Now its just idle. It makes the feeling that the installer is struck in that action. Could someone please help me, how to give value to the progress control from C# DTF Custom Action. Thanks, Varun

• ASP.net 2.0 Gridview with Expanding Panel Rows -- How to build Panel "on the fly"

  I'm currently building a Gridview that has expandable rows. Each row contains a dynamically created Panel of Form elements. Right now, I have a javascript function that expands (or in my case, makes visible) the panel when an Image is clicked on the Gridview row. My question is... is there a more efficient way of doing this. Instead of pulling all my data to begin with and building each new row as I Databind, is there a way to simple create the row with the Panel full of textboxes and dropdownlists on the fly when the user clicks the Expand button?" I'd like to limit the server calls by doing it that way instead of how I'm currently doing it, looping through every row and creating a new panel with form elements and inserting that into a row that is hidden.

• How can I prevent tab characters etc. from being pasted into an asp.net textbox?

  Hello, I'd like to have an asp.net textbox that people can paste content into and it works like notepad, i.e. no formatting or special characters will get entered. I take text and pass it to a web service which manipulates it and converts it into a tab delimited file. The problem I've experienced is sometimes people copy from MS Word and paste that content in and somehow even the tab characters etc. get passed to the web service. I run routines now to strip that information out but it would be so much easier if the textbox on the web page didn't capture anything but the text itself, i.e. visible characters (numbers, letters, punctuation). Anyone have a suggestion to have a textbox that doesn't capture formatting and non-visual characters? Thank you.

• How to make a table in Silverlight ?

  So I'd like to make a visible table, with a border around each cell and a different background color for the header. I'd like to eventually insert controls into this. For example, put a textfield inside one of the table elements, or some radio buttons, etc. Is there a control for this? I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, but they both seem kind of "meh": use the Grid Control - I like this but is there a way to color the border on the cell (I did not find this) use the DataGrid Control - this control is just way too complicated for what I need. I'm just looking for an html style table in silverlight, any ideas?

• Can you do icon overlays using Java on Windows OS

  I would like to manupilate badges or icon overlays using Java on windows. Basically some files on the drive to have overlays depending what state those files are in. This should be visible through windows explorer. Something simillar to how DropBox does things. Is that possible? I've seen several articles on this topic but none of them use Java. They all seem to use C++ or C# or COM objects. I was looking for a Java solution for windows. Of course I'd like to have a Java solution on Mac's too. Not sure if this is possible but before I give up I thought I ask.

• IE7 left:%; bug

  I'm working on a project, I use the latest IETester, and I bumped into a IE7 specific alignment bug. view this in IE7 and then in any other browser, for example Firefox, IE8 and even IE6. Notice how the little "|" between the lower links is not visible in IE7, yet it looks fine in the other browsers. Removing the left:-100%; from on line 61 fixes the bug as seen here, but i need this "left" for positioning. Any help on what is causing this bug, or potential ideas on how to fix it much needed.

• C# Class Library wont register for COM

  Hello All, I am trying to gain access to a .NET class library in Microsoft Excel. To do this I know that the .NET class library must be registered with COM. So I tried going to my Assembly Info and Setting COM Visible to true. Then on the build tab I set Register for COM Interop for true also. I checked the AssemblyInfo.cs file and it does contain [assembly: ComVisible(true)]. But for some reason when I try to add a reference to the Class Lib in Excel the namespace does not show up in the list. I made a quick test Class library with nothing in it and did the same thing (set COM Vis = true , and Register For COM Interop = true) and that one does show up on the list of available references. I can't figure out what the difference is between the two classes. I am not sure if my class is actually being registered for COM interop or not. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this???

Javascript is currently reporting that: '$.listHidden[...] is null or not an object'. It's an error that appears in IE. I found this code on the internet somewhere. Is there a way to fix it, or should I look for something else? Thanks

• Customizing the Superfish drop-down menu

  I've been tinkering around with the excellent Superfish drop-down menu to fit my needs. Here's the result. Still, there are two oddities I need to fix. Since I changed the font family and font size used for the items in the menu bar, the drop-down menus are aligned incorrectly a few pixels lower than where they should be. Secondly, when I hover over a menu item that has a submenu, an arrow to the right is displayed but it's not as visible as it should be due to the light background color. Can I change this quickly without making a new arrow image?

• Starting to make progress Was [MediaRecorder prepare() causes segfault]

  Folks, I have a situation where my MediaRecorder instance causes a segfault. I'm working with a HTC Hero, Android 1.5+APIs. I've tried all variations, including 3gpp and H.263 and reducing the video resolution to 320x240. What am I missing? The state machine causes 4 MediaPlayer beeps and then turns on the video camera. Here's the pertinent source: UPDATE: ADDING SURFACE CREATE INFO I have rebooted the device based on previous answer to similar question. UPDATE 2: I seem to be following the MediaRecorder state machine perfectly, and if I trap out the MR code, the blank surface displays perfectly and everything else functions perfectly. I can record videos manually and play back via MediaPlayer in my code, so there should be nothing wrong with the underlying code. I've copied sample code on the surface and surfaceHolder code. I've looked at the MR instance in the Debug perspective in Eclipse and see that all (known) variables seem to be instantiated correctly. The setter calls are all now implemented in the exaxct order specced in the state diagram. UPDATE 3: I've tried all permission combinations: CAMERA + RECORD_AUDIO+RECORD_VIDEO, CAMERA only, RECORD_AUDIO+RECORD_VIDEO This is driving me bats! :))) UPDATE 4: starting to work... but with puzzling results. Based on info in bug #5050, I spaced everything out. I have now gotten the recorder to actually save a snippet of video (a whole 2160 bytes!), and I did it by spacing the view visibility, prepare() and start() w.a.a.a.a.a.y out (like several hundred milliseconds for each step). I think what happens is that either bringing the surface VISIBLE has delayed processing or else the start() steps on the prepare() operation before it is complete. What is now happening, however, is that my simple timer tickdown counter is getting clobbered. Is it now that the preview and save operations are causing my main process thread to become unavailable? I'm recording only 10fps at 176x144. Referencing the above code, I've added a timer tickdown after setPreviewDisplay(), prepare() and start(). • interesting network or git problem

  I have a setup my own git repository with gitosis on dedicated debian server. The server is visible via port 22 from outside (the port 22 is forwarded from my router to my git server). On the local network the git repository works perfectly. The problem happens once I try to do "git clone.." from remote server. So once I do "git clone.." from remote I am getting git clone hung after cloning around 20-30% of the repository (small around 2MB) and I think this is the random percentage. I can do scp to and from the git server without any problems. Also as I mentioned the git clone, push, etc works perfectly within my internal network. Any idea how to debug this problem? thanks
