    This is my query SELECT Fullname, rank, id_no, TIN, birthdate, hair, eyes, Blood, height, weight, marks, name, address FROM [******_DOMAIN\****_*****].*******view Problem is, source table has too many duplicates, how do I my limit query to the latest row on the database? I'm using SQL Server 2008. Thanks In advance My next problem is that the view shows me a birthdate string format of yyyymmdd, I need to change it to mm/dd/yyyy can please provide me a function? using the same string above?

    Hello everyone, When we met with such error message from store procedure, Message 1205, Level 13, State 52, the process Pr_FooV2, Line 9 Services (Process ID 111) and another process is deadlock in the lock | communication buffer resources, and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. I am wondering whether such messages are stored in log files? I searched log folder of my SQL Server 2008 installation root (in my environment, it is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log), but can not find such files. thanks in avdance, George

However, no matter what I try, the installation will not change from the trial to using my new license. I have completely removed the Visual Studio, but still it will not upgrade.   • Editing code in Visual Studio 2008 in debug mode

    I am curious to know if there is a way to edit code in VS 2008 right when it has hit a breakpoint and I am walking thru the code... can I modify the code (such as the value in a variable or if my stepthrough line is about to hit an if statement ... can I modify the if statement....etc)? So far, I have to stop running VS, modify the code, then hit F5 and wait till the breakpoint is hit again.

    I'm a developer that has a Windows Service that runs on a production server that sends emails that are entered into a database on a database server. Although the service is set to start automatically, whenever the web server gets patched (which happens every other week), for some reason the service fails to start and various emails don't get sent. I don't actually have access to the server, so I have to request a build administrator to start the service. What I want to know is whether there is any reason for the service to fail to start when the server is patched?

    We use Visual Studio 2008, with visual source safe v8. Lately, I seem to be getting a lot more crashes than usual, mainly when viewing history (comparing, etc.).     i have made columns in some of the tables encrypted in sql server 2008. Now as i am a db owner i have the access to encode and decode the data using the symmetric key and certificate. But some other users have only currently datareader and datawriter rights ,and when they execute any SP referring the logic which uses the key and certificate "User does has not right on the certificate to execute". What rights / exact permission should i grant them just to solve this problem

My resolution that I am working on is 1024x768..but the computer that I am going to be running this program on is a wide screen..1280x768. I try to change it in properties but it keeps defaulting back to 1036x760.

This account exists in administrators role. after a few days I removed sadegh user from Windows and now I am using administrator user.   • How do I track down sporadic ASP.NET performance problems in a production environment?

    I've had sporadic performance problems with my website for awhile now. 90% of the time the site is very fast. But occasionally it is just really, really slow. I mean like 5-10 seconds load time kind of slow. I thought I had narrowed it down to the server I was on so I migrated everything to a new dedicated server from a completely different web hosting company. But the problems continue. I guess what I'm looking for is a good tool that'll help me track down the problem, because it's clearly not the hardware. I'd like to be able to log certain events in my ASP.NET code and have that same logger also track server performance/resources at the time. If I can then look back at the logs then I can see what exactly my website was doing at the time of extreme slowness. Is there a .NET logging system that'll allow me to make calls into it with code while simultaneously tracking performance? What would you recommend?

    I have created a table named as ABC. It has three columns which are as follows:- The column number_pk (int) is the primary key of my table in which I have made the auto increment feature on for that column. Now I have deleted two rows from that table say Number_pk= 5 and Number_pk =6. The table which I get now is like this:- Now if I again enter two new rows in this table with the same value I get the two new Number_pk starting from 7 and 8 i.e, My question is that what is the logic behind this since I have deleted the two rows from the table. I know that a simple answer is because I have set the auto increment on for the primary key of my table. But I want to know is there any way that I can insert the two new entries starting from the last Number_pk without changing the design of my table? And how the SQL Server manage this record since I have deleted the rows from the database??

  • Is Windows XP Pro not a good Hyper-V guest citizen?

    On my Windows Server 2008 R2 w. the Hyper-V role, I have these guest VMs: 3 x Windows Server 2008 R2 2 x Windows Server 2003 x86 2 x Windows 7 x64 1 x Windows XP Pro x86 In general, all machines are very fast and responsive. However, the Windows XP Pro guest is very sluggish. It can take up to 2 minutes to connect to the console/or a RD session. Sometimes it can "go into sleep" for several minutes. I have tried to add a 2nd CPU and more memory, but it doesn't help. When the issue happens, it's more or less impossible to get a responsive Task Manager up to analyze which process is hogging the CPU. But I have noticed that it can be various processes; lsass.exe, crss.exe etc. Integration Services is installed. Microsoft Security Essentials is installed, but I have tried without it, no difference. Any ideas?

    I would like to understand some fundamental VS version differences, What is the difference between Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 Team System? Does the Team System 2008 include VS2008, TFS 2008 & Team Explorer 2008? Furthermore, what is the difference betwene Team System 2008 and Team Suite 2008? I beleive there are no more Team Suites or Team Systems in 2010? Does Visual Studio Ultimate 2010 include all Team System components, like TFS 2010 & Team Explorer 2010, so in effect it is like an upgrade of Visual Studio 2008 Team System? Or does TFS 2010 & Team Explorer 2010 need to be installed separately?

  • Win2008 DC in a Windows 2000 domain: can I keep the old DC?

    Will be putting a new Windows 2008 SE Server into a single domain network with two domain controllers, both running Windows 2000 Server. The functional level of the domain is mixed mode/2000. Until a second 2008 DC can be purchased, I'd like to leave the current Win2k operational master DC as a backup DC as the other member servers running 2003 have either accounting/SQL or Exchange on them. Eventually all the w2k servers will be decommissioned, but until then, I need another DC for redundancy. Following the standard process for adding a new DC, can I leave the old operational master DC (or the other backup DC) running after I transfer the FSMO roles to the new server? Will this cause any issues?

    SO i have a server running windows server 2008 r2 and i just installed Microsoft sql server 2008. I used the manager thing to create the database and the tables, etc and now i want to connect to it via my visual studio which is on a different machine. so how do i do that? do i need to "turn on" the sql server, do i need to do port forwarding? do i have to modify the iis or change those settings? is there a good article someone can me point me to? just to further help you help me, i understand how to connect to a datasource in visual studio my problem is more with the sql server and understanding how to properly set it up once installed. Sorry for the noob question, i got it all installed and i know how to use it once its all going i just don't know the in-between. thanks in advance dave

    I have One Server (Srv1) which holds data with file shares and the storage is full. Now I have second Server (Srv2) which has alot more space. No I would like to transfer all the data von Serv1 to Serv2 and have links to the new destination. I found mklink very useful here but unfortunately it does not work over the network. Which also points the docu out. People heavily rely on the path's so it would be helpful if somone has a pointer for me... how to handle symbolic links a cross the network with Windows Servers.     I've got a Windows Server 2008 Standard installation here that I'm trying to upgrade to Windows Server 2012 Server, using the evaluation version. (The scenario is essentially that I need to test the upgrade, and specifically the upgrade process, before we spend the money on going ahead with the actual upgrade.) When I try to upgrade, it fails with the message: "Windows Server 2008 Standard cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2012 Standard Evaluation (Server with a GUI). You can choose to install a new... (etc., etc.)" Is this (non-upgradability) a known limitation of the evaluation version? (Unfortunately, I haven't found a clear answer on this point.) And if not, any thoughts on where else I might look for the problem and solutions to it?

  • Can Ping but Cannot Telnet directly to SQL Server 2012 Cluster Nodes

    We have a monitoring tool (Solarwinds Orion) that needs to connect to a 2-node failover SQL Server Cluster. For reasons outside of our control -- we cannot monitor the CLUSTER IP directly at this time, so we have fallen back to monitoring each cluster node IP directly. This is not working. Upon troubleshooting, we tried to test that the cluster node was listening on the proper (fixed) port by using telnet to the cluster node IP/port -- and the telnet failed. However, telnet'ing to the Cluster IP/Port was SUCCESSFUL! Each node has its own IP. Each node is listening on the identical FIXED port. Each node has Dynamic Ports disabled. Each node can be PINGED successfully from the monitoring tool. Windows Firewall is DISABLED. How can I troubleshoot why I cannot telnet to the listening port on the cluster nodes?
