  There are two ways to specify lists of values in XML. Variant 1: <Database Name="myDatabase"> <Table Name="myTable1" /> <Table Name="myTable2" /> <Table Name="myTable3" /> ... </Database> Variant 2: <Database Name="myDatabase" Tables="myTable1 myTable2 myTable3 ..." /> Clearly, Variant 1 is cleaner and can be extended more easily, but im many cases Variant 2 is more readable and "user-friendly". When using Variant 2, what should be used as the separator? The XML Schema standard seems to prefer whitespace, whereas some real-world examples use commas instead. Is there a particular reason to choose one over the other (assuming that the values contain neither whitspace nor commas)?

  I have a little Java Applet and I have an annoying issue. I have signed my JAR with my own keystore using jarsigner tool (following these instructions). The Java Applet downloads a signed JAR and tries to launch it with an extended class of URLClassLoader. This JAR tries to execute this line of code: ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResource("aResource"); It fails with a large stack trace finished by: Caused by: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied ("java.lang.RuntimePermission" "getClassLoader") at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:366) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:555) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:549) at java.lang.Thread.getContextClassLoader(Thread.java:1451) ... 21 more When the Java Applet is launched, the user is prompted to accept the certificate if he/she trusts the publisher: Even if I accept it, the exception occurred.   When i am trying to download a file whose name has characters from languages like chinese japanese etc...... non ascii... the downloaded file name is garbled. How to rectify it. • Python: How would i write this 'if' statement for a word of arbitrary length?

  This is what I currently have: wordlist = [fox, aced, definite, ace] for word in wordlist: a = len(word) if (ord(word[a-(a-1)] - ord(word[(a-a)])) == ord(word[a-(a-2)])-ord(word[a-(a-1)]: print "success", word else: print "fail", word What I'm trying to do is calculate the ASCII values between each of the letters in the word. And check to see if the ord of the letters are increasing by the same value. so for fox, it would check if the difference between the ord of 2nd and 1st letters are equal to the ord difference of the 3rd and 2nd letters. However, with my current 'if' statement, only the first 3 letters of a word are compared. How can I rewrite this statement to cover every letter in a word of length greater than 3? Sorry if I can't present this clearly, thanks for your time.

• Serializing Python bytestrings to JSON, preserving ordinal character values

  I have some binary data produced as base-256 bytestrings in Python (2.x). I need to read these into JavaScript, preserving the ordinal value of each byte (char) in the string. If you'll allow me to mix languages, I want to encode a string s in Python such that ord(s[i]) == s.charCodeAt(i) after I've read it back into JavaScript. The cleanest way to do this seems to be to serialize my Python strings to JSON. However, json.dump doesn't like my bytestrings, despite fiddling with the ensure_ascii and encoding parameters. Is there a way to encode bytestrings to Unicode strings that preserves ordinal character values? Otherwise I think I need to encode the characters above the ASCII range into JSON-style \u1234 escapes; but a codec like this does not seem to be among Python's codecs. Is there an easy way to serialize Python bytestrings to JSON, preserving char values, or do I need to write my own encoder?

  I have a question that may be quite naive, but I feel the need to ask, because I don't really know what is going on. I'm on Ubuntu. Suppose I do echo "t" > test.txt if I then file test.txt I get test.txt:ASCII text If I then do echo "å" > test.txt Then I get test.txt: UTF-8 Unicode text How does that happen? How does file "know" the encoding, or, alternatively, how does it guess it? Thanks.

  Hi, Recently I have joined a new project team where in the java application logs have logged messages in a non-formal way[can't think of suitable word]. here how they look :-) <message> for info messages :-| <message> for warn :-( <message> for error besides there's also ASCII art drawing , different one for each log when that particular service starts up or is killed .And there many more styles for certain application events. iam not sure if it has any significant overhead on the application or not. I would like to ask you folks if you come across such unique styles of logging messages or do you also practice any styles.what is your opinion about it. BR /jon

• Can't use FAXCOMEXLib in VS 2010 anymore?

  I'm just in the process of moving from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010. One of my projects use the Microsoft Fax Service Extended COM Type Library. After converting the project to VS 2010 I get the following compiler error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1558,9): error MSB3648: The Keycontainer-path "VS_KEY_812A0248FF872DEC" ist invalid. KeyContainer must point to an existing file. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1558,9): warning MSB3283: Wrapperassembly for type library "FAXCOMEXLib" not found. I tried to remove FAXCOMEXLib from the project and adding it again, but it did not help. I got a similar problem with other COM references. How do I resolve this?

  To generate a valid pairwise master key for a WPA2 network a router uses the PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA1 algorithm. I understand that the sha1 function is performed 4096 times to derive the PMK, however I have two questions about the process. Excuse the pseudo code. 1) How is the input to the first instance of the SHA1 function formatted? SHA1("network_name"+"network_name_length"+"network_password") Is it formatted in that order, is it the hex value of the network name, length and password or straight ASCII? Then from what I gather the 160 bit digest received is fed straight into another round of hashing without any additional salting. Like this: SHA1("160bit digest from last round of hashing") Rise and repeat. 2) Once this occurs 4096 times 256 bits of the output is used as the pairwise master key. What I don't understand is that if SHA1 produces 160bit output, how does the algorithm arrive at the 256bits required for a key? Thanks for the help.

  Hi All, From 4.0 apple has extended their api support to access the videos and photos from the phone. I am using only iPhone 4.0 simulator to test my application. When I try to save the video as apple has mentioned in their api docs, its giving the error something like "Error Saving the Asset". • URLCallback with JAAS on WAS?

  I extended the JAAS javax.security.auth.spi.LoginModule, and installed it into a WAS server. It works; all logins go through the code in this new class, and if it says to not let them login, they're prevented from logging in. The root problem: I don't want it to filter logins for the admin console (/ibm/console), but I do want it to filter logins for other things on the server. I think that with the available setup, the login module applies to everything installed on the server, including the administration screens. I'd like to solve that by getting the URL of the page that triggered the call to the LoginModule. If I were using WebLogic, I'd use a URLCallback to get the URL. Does anyone know if Websphere Application Server has any parallel functionality to that, or if there's another workaround?

However, I've just noticed that when regexec fails to match, it returns != 0 and I have no idea of what was wrong :-(.   Over the last few years F# has evolved into one of Microsoft's fully supported languages employing many ideas incubated in OCaml, ML and Haskell. Over the last several years C# has extended it's general purpose features by introducing more and more functional language features: LINQ (list comprehension), Lamdas, Closures, Anonymous Delegates and more... Given C#'s adoption of these functional features and F#'s taxonomy as an impure functional language (it allows YOU to access framework libraries or change shared state when a function is called if you want to) there is a strong similarity between the two languages although each has it's own polar opposite primary emphasis. I'm interested in any successful models employing these two languages in your production polyglot programs and also the areas within production software (web apps, client apps, server apps) you have written in F# in the past year or so that you would previously have written in C#.   To find an Assembly programmer is very hard to help me I'm a established Delphi programmer that has an old copy of Delphi that is not .net And I have a *.dll that I'm converting into Delphi code for .net I'm on a big learning curve hear as i know little of .net yet. I've just got a computer with .net today!!!!!! I've run the *.dll through a dissembler and started putting jump links in as writing in Delphi assembly you do not do any addressing, just reference links. The file has fixed string structures (i think C++) ASCII & ANSI strings 1/ I do not know how to identify how the code references these structures 2/ and I do not know were the functions begin and what shape they look like The code is free for any one to look at their is not many functions in it. but I have to email it as stack over flow will not allow me to display it. • In Android (on JB), how can I add an action to a custom rich notification?

  I've been playing with the new rich notificaitons in Jelly Bean, and everything works as expected when I set up a new notificaiton using the templates Notification.BigPictureStyle, Notification.BigTextStyle, or Notification.InboxStyle. I can use the Notification.Builder.addAction() method, and the action buttons show up at the bottom of the extended notification. But when I try to create a cutsom notification using Notification.bigContentView, the action buttons never show up. Just to clarify, if I never set bigContentView, the buttons do show up. But as soon as that field is set to a custom RemoteViews object, the buttons are gone. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

• TcpListener.Start() does not open the port

  Hello, I have a class that inherits from the TcpListener, this class Shadows the Start method just to call the base Start() and the base BeginAcceptTcpClient(). From time to time the method is called but the port is not opened (netstat does not show the port open). As the Start() is called without exception I expected to find the port always opened (the log is always written). Extra information: when the Start method works fine it works each time until app is restarted. When the Start method does not work it won't work again until the app is restarted.

• Write data to an xml file.

  My aim is to write an XML file with few tags whose values are the regional language. I'm using Python to do this and using IDLE(Pythong GUI) for programming. While I try to write the words in an xmls file it gives the following error. UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode characters in position 0-4: ordinal not in range(128) For now, I'm not using any xml writer library instead I'm opening a file "test.xml" and writing the data into it. This error is encountered by the line: f.write("\t\" + data + "\"). If I replace the above write statement with print statement then it prints the data properly on Python Shell. I'm reading the data from an excel file which is not in the UTF8,16, or 32 encoding formats. Its in some other format. cp1252 is reading the data properly. Any help in getting this data writtent oan xml would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Bob

• FBA site owner encounter access deny in sharepoint 2007

  I created a sharepoint 2007 publishing site first using windows authentication, then extended it to another site using FBA. I created a FBA user and set it as site collection admin as well as top site owner. I also make application pool which the FBA site is running in to run with a user account which is within administrator group. But I encounter access deny error when browsing certain links using this site owner account. Is there other settings I need to configure? I found in the web.config, the impersonation is set to true. How does this affect the access rights?

I want to check if there are actually available data then receive else do not wait.. (Note the current receive method waits until the server sends a message)
