  • Center content of UISCrollView when smaller

    - by hgpc
    I have an UIImageView inside a UIScrollView which I use for zooming and scrolling. If the image/content of the scroll view if bigger than the scroll view everything works fine. However, when the image becomes smaller than the scroll view, it sticks to the top left corner of the scroll view. I would like to keep it centered, like the Photos app. Any ideas or examples about keeping the content of the UIScrollView centered when smaller? I am working with iPhone 3.0. The following code almost works. The image returns to the top left corner if I pinch it after reaching the minimum zoom level. - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; // set up main scroll view imageScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; [imageScrollView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [imageScrollView setDelegate:self]; [imageScrollView setBouncesZoom:YES]; [[self view] addSubview:imageScrollView]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"WeCanDoIt.png"]]; [imageView setTag:ZOOM_VIEW_TAG]; [imageScrollView setContentSize:[imageView frame].size]; [imageScrollView addSubview:imageView]; CGSize imageSize = imageView.image.size; [imageView release]; CGSize maxSize = imageScrollView.frame.size; CGFloat widthRatio = maxSize.width / imageSize.width; CGFloat heightRatio = maxSize.height / imageSize.height; CGFloat initialZoom = (widthRatio heightRatio) ? heightRatio : widthRatio; [imageScrollView setMinimumZoomScale:initialZoom]; [imageScrollView setZoomScale:1]; float topInset = (maxSize.height - imageSize.height) / 2.0; float sideInset = (maxSize.width - imageSize.width) / 2.0; if (topInset < 0.0) topInset = 0.0; if (sideInset < 0.0) sideInset = 0.0; [imageScrollView setContentInset:UIEdgeInsetsMake(topInset, sideInset, -topInset, -sideInset)]; } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return [imageScrollView viewWithTag:ZOOM_VIEW_TAG]; } /************************************** NOTE **************************************/ /* The following delegate method works around a known bug in zoomToRect:animated: */ /* In the next release after 3.0 this workaround will no longer be necessary */ /**********************************************************************************/ - (void)scrollViewDidEndZooming:(UIScrollView *)scrollView withView:(UIView *)view atScale:(float)scale { [scrollView setZoomScale:scale+0.01 animated:NO]; [scrollView setZoomScale:scale animated:NO]; // END Bug workaround CGSize maxSize = imageScrollView.frame.size; CGSize viewSize = view.frame.size; float topInset = (maxSize.height - viewSize.height) / 2.0; float sideInset = (maxSize.width - viewSize.width) / 2.0; if (topInset < 0.0) topInset = 0.0; if (sideInset < 0.0) sideInset = 0.0; [imageScrollView setContentInset:UIEdgeInsetsMake(topInset, sideInset, -topInset, -sideInset)]; }

  • Using the PayPal API in an iPhone application

    - by jaynaiphone
Hello I want to use Paypal in my iphone application, I have find the soapRequest to integrating the paypal API. My code is NSString *soapMessage = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>\n" "<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:xsi= \"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:SOAP-ENC=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\" xmlns:SOAP-ENV=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\" xmlns:xsd=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema\" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\">\n" "<SOAP-ENV:Header>\n" "<RequesterCredentials xmlns=\"urn:ebay:api:PayPalAPI\">\n" "<Credentials xmlns=\"urn:ebay:apis:eBLBaseComponents\">\n" "<Username>api_username</Username>\n" "<Password>api_password</Password>\n" "<Signature/>\n" "<Subject/>\n" "</Credentials>\n" "</RequesterCredentials>\n" "</SOAP-ENV:Header>\n" "<SOAP-ENV:Body>\n" "<specific_api_name_Req xmlns=\"urn:ebay:api:PayPalAPI\">\n" "<specific_api_name_Request>\n" "<Version xmlns=urn:ebay:apis:eBLBaseComponents”>service_version</Version>\n" "<required_or_optional_fields xsi:type=”some_type_here”>\n" "</required_or_optional_fields>\n" "</specific_api_name_Request>\n" "</specific_api_name_Req>\n" "</SOAP-ENV:Body>\n" "</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>\n"]; NSLog(@"Soap message===%@",soapMessage); NSString *parameterString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"USER=%@&PWD=%@&SIGNATURE=%@&VERSION=57.0&METHOD=SetMobileCheckout&AMT=%.2f&CURRENCYCODE=USD&DESC=%@&RETURNURL=%@", userName, password, signature, donationAmount, @"Some Charge", returnCallURL]; NSLog(parameterString); NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:paypalUrlNVP]; NSMutableURLRequest *theRequest = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; NSString *msgLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [parameterString length]]; [theRequest addValue: msgLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [theRequest setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [theRequest setHTTPBody: [parameterString dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSURLConnection *theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; if( theConnection ){ webData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; // [self displayConnectingView]; }else{ NSLog(@"theConnection is NULL"); } But here I am not getting the value of paypalUrlNVP. How can i get it?? And if possible then please give some example of paypalAPI integration in iphone. I also want to use checkout functionality.I am new in this field so I have no idea about it. So, kindly give me whole sample code. Thanks in advance.

  • iPhone HUD style progress bar

    - by Alexander
I've been wanting to create a HUD style loading bar like the SMS app on the iPhone used to have (http://www.jonokane.com/images/blog/iphoneFixProblem.jpg) but don't know how. I was wondering if anyone has done this before or if there is a tutorial somewhere for it? I just think it looks so nice and would like to use it rather than the built in loading progress bar. Thanks a bunch!

  • iPhone static libraries: How to hide instance variable

    - by Frenzy
I'm creating a static library to share using the following guide: http://www.amateurinmotion.com/articles/2009/02/08/creating-a-static-library-for-iphone.html In one of the functions, I return a "SomeUIView" which is a subclass of UIView and is defined in the public header, however I don't want to expose the internal instance variable of SomeUIView in the public header. I've tried using categories for a private internal header file for SomeUIView, but I keep running into "Duplicate interface declaration for class 'SomeUIView'". Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

  • UITabBar without labels (like Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone)

    - by John Biesnecker
I'd like to build an app with a tabbar in the style of Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone (that is, images with no labels). I can't see a way to do it with normal UITabBarController/UITabBar, and my current thinking is that it's actually a UIToolbar with a custom view controller that is pushing and popping views from an array to simulate the UITabBarController's default behavior. Is this the approach that you all would recommend, or is there something more elegant that I'm overlooking?

  • Preventing sleep in Titanium for iPhone

    - by Morten J
I'm trying to read the accelerometer for a longer period of time (between one and two hours). However, when the iPhone goes to sleep and locks, the reading of the accelerometer readout is paused. My setInterval timer seems to be running fine though. I can also play sounds. I see two solutions a) Find a way to read the accelerometer while locked b) Find a way to prevent the lock I'm using Titanium with JavaScript.

  • UIModalPresentationFormSheet and MPMoviePlayer on iPhone/iPad OS 3.2?

    - by user325699
I have a UIModalPresentationFormSheet which has a movie player inside of it. When the user hits the button to play it in full screen, my UIModalPresentationFormSheet is still there ontop of the video while it's playing in full screen, behind the window and behind the shadow. What do I need to do to get rid of the dim so the video is playing in fullscreen with being able to select buttons and not having an annoying dim ontop of it?

  • NSString drawAtPoint Crash on the iPhone (NSString drawAtPoint)

    - by Kyle
Hey. I have a very simple text output to buffer system which will crash randomly. It will be fine for DAYS, then sometimes it'll crash a few times in a few minutes. The callstack is almost exactly the same for other guys who use higher level controls: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7949746 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1978997/iphone-app-crashed-assertion-failed-function-evictglyphentryfromstrike-file It crashes at the line (below as well in drawTextToBuffer()): [nsString drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(0, 0) withFont:clFont]; I have the same call of "evict_glyph_entry_from_cache" with the abort calls immediately following it. Apparently it happens to other people. I can say that my NSString* is perfectly fine at the time of the crash. I can read the text from the debugger just fine. static CGColorSpaceRef curColorSpace; static CGContextRef myContext; static float w, h; static int iFontSize; static NSString* sFontName; static UIFont* clFont; static int iLineHeight; unsigned long* txb; /* 256x256x4 Buffer */ void selectFont(int iSize, NSString* sFont) { iFontSize = iSize; clFont = [UIFont fontWithName:sFont size:iFontSize]; iLineHeight = (int)(ceil([clFont capHeight])); } void initText() { w = 256; h = 256; txb = (unsigned long*)malloc_(w * h * 4); curColorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); myContext = CGBitmapContextCreate(txb, w, h, 8, w * 4, curColorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast); selectFont(12, @"Helvetica"); } void drawTextToBuffer(NSString* nsString) { CGContextSaveGState(myContext); CGContextSetRGBFillColor(myContext, 1, 1, 1, 1); UIGraphicsPushContext(myContext); /* This line will crash. It crashes even with constant Strings.. At the time of the crash, the pointer to nsString is perfectly fine. The data looks fine! */ [nsString drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(0, 0) withFont:clFont]; UIGraphicsPopContext(); CGContextRestoreGState(myContext); } It will happen with other non-unicode supporting methods as well such as CGContextShowTextAtPoint(); the callstack is similar with that as well. Is this any kind of known issue with the iPhone? Or, perhaps, can something outside of this cause be causing an exception in this particular call (drawAtPoint)?

  • How to generate Perlin Noise on an iPhone

    - by Andre
Hi, I want to create an animated perlin noise on the iPhone, so I can ultimately do something like this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1977230/example.png I've looked and looked, but can't find anything similar or a way to actually display a Perlin Noise. I've been told to look at OpenGL ES, but even searching for an example of Perlin noise or a lava/plasma effect doesn't result in anything. I'd really appreciate some help on this one. Thanks guys, Andre

  • Compiling NyARToolKit on iPhone 3.0

    - by Vivas
Hi, Has anyone here succeeded in getting NyARToolKit to run on iPhone 3.0? I'm fighting with this but I am at least down to a couple of errors: Duplicate symbol _spriteVertices (referring to the 3DGraphicsView & NyARToolKitCrossCompileAppDelegate). glView.delegate = self; (error in NyARToolKitCrossCompileAppDelegate.m) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Youtube video processing on iPhone

    - by Chonch
Hey In my iPhone app, I want to load a video from youtube, perform some basic image processing on it and display it to the user. I am using openCV to do my image processing, and I know I can use it for grabbing all of the frames from the video as well (cvRetrieveFrame). My only problem is that cvRetrieveFrame expects to get its source of type CvCapture* which can be created either by a camera source or by a file name. How can I set a youtube video file as the source for CvCapture*? Thanks,

  • Does iPhone support "greying out" inactive controls?

    - by iter
I have a control that goes inactive under some conditions in my iPhone app. I can [setUserInteractionEnabled: NO] on it and it doesn't respond to touches. Its appearance does not change however. Other environments I am familiar with "grey out" inactive controls. I wonder what is the idiomatic way to hint to the user that the control is inactive.

  • iPhone SDK: Audio Queue control

    - by codemercenary
Hi all, I am new to the audio queue services so I have taken an example from a book called iPhone Cool Projects where it describes how to stream audio. I want to extend this to being able to play a continuous playlist of links to mp3 files like an internet radio. The problem with the example code it that it does not detect when a stream ends and does not call AudioQueueStop at any point, so I added a counter to number of buffers added to the queue, and then decrement this counter each time audioQueueOutputCallback is called by the queue. This works fine except if when the buffer count goes to 0, and then I add a call AudioQueueFlush(audioQueue) and then AudioQueueStop(audioQueue, false) I get an error. If I only call AudioQueueReset, it continues to load the buffers again, but plays them out faster then it loads them... getting stuck in a loop and then crashing. 2010-04-14 13:56:29.745 AudioPlayer[2269:207] init player with URL 2010-04-14 13:56:29.941 AudioPlayer[2269:207] did recieve data 2010-04-14 13:56:29.942 AudioPlayer[2269:207] audio request didReceiveData 2010-04-14 13:56:29.944 AudioPlayer[2269:207] >>> start audio queue 2010-04-14 13:56:29.960 AudioPlayer[2269:207] packetCallback count 2 2010-04-14 13:56:29.961 AudioPlayer[2269:207] add buffer: 1 2010-04-14 13:56:29.962 AudioPlayer[2269:207] did recieve data 2010-04-14 13:56:29.963 AudioPlayer[2269:207] audio request didReceiveData 2010-04-14 13:56:29.963 AudioPlayer[2269:207] packetCallback count 1 2010-04-14 13:56:29.964 AudioPlayer[2269:207] add buffer: 2 2010-04-14 13:56:29.965 AudioPlayer[2269:207] packetCallback count 13 2010-04-14 13:56:29.967 AudioPlayer[2269:207] add buffer: 3 2010-04-14 13:56:29.968 AudioPlayer[2269:207] done with buffer: 3 2010-04-14 13:56:29.969 AudioPlayer[2269:207] done with buffer: 2 2010-04-14 13:56:29.974 AudioPlayer[2269:207] done with buffer: 1 So this loop continues some 20 - 30 times and then it crashes. The first time it plays an audio file it queues up the buffers and then plays sound, but doesn't callback to delete them until some 100 or more have been played. Can anyone explain this behavior? I read that there was a limit of 1 audio queue for MP3 playback for the iPhone. Is that still true? If not then I suppose I should use another audio queue for the next mp3 stream. I've had a look through the apple docs but it doesn't explain this in any particular detail. A better insight into this would be great. TIA.

  • iPhone Key-Value Observer: observer not registering in UITableViewController

    - by Scott
    Hi Fellow iPhone Developers, I am an experienced software engineer but new to the iPhone platform. I have successfully implemented sub-classed view controllers and can push and pop parent/child views on the view controller stack. However, I have struck trouble while trying to update a view controller when an object is edited in a child view controller. After much failed experimentation, I discovered the key-value observer API which looked like the perfect way to do this. I then registered an observer in my main/parent view controller, and in the observer I intend to reload the view. The idea is that when the object is edited in the child view controller, this will be fired. However, I think that the observer is not being registered, because I know that the value is being updated in the editing view controller (I can see it in the debugger), but the observing method is never being called. Please help! Code snippets follow below. Object being observed. I believe that this is key-value compliant as the value is set when called with the setvalue message (see Child View Controller below). X.h: @interface X : NSObject <NSCoding> { NSString *name; ... @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; X.m: @implementation X @synthesize name; ... Main View Controller.h: @class X; @interface XViewController : UITableViewController { X *x; ... Main View Controller.m: @implementation XViewController @synthesize x; ... - (void)viewDidLoad { ... [self.x addObserver:self forKeyPath: @"name" options: (NSKeyValueObservingOptionNew | NSKeyValueObservingOptionOld) context:nil]; [super viewDidLoad]; } ... - (void)observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { if ([keyPath isEqual:@"name"]) { NSLog(@"Found change to X"); [self.tableView reloadData]; } [super observeValueForKeyPath:keyPath ofObject:object change:change context:context]; } Child View Controller.m: (this correctly sets the value in the object in the child view controller) [self.x setValue:[[tempValues objectForKey:key] text] forKey:@"name"];
