• Remove all references to a DLL across all application domains

  I have a web application that dynamically loads assemblies based on database configuration entries to perform certain actions (dynamic plugin style architecture). The calls to the objects are in a Factory Pattern implementation, and the object is cached (in a static dictionary< within the Factory) as the calls can be made many thousands of times in a minute. The calls to this factory are made from both the main web application and a number of webservices, some in different assemblies/projects. When I need to update one of these DLLs, I have to recycle IIS to get the DLL released. As this has an impact on another application on the server, I wanted to know if there was a way I could release the DLL without restarting IIS?

  I'm trying to integrate an animation by using the bezier path plug-in and I can't seem to implement it right. • Custom capistrano task for working with scm repository

  Is there any way to create a custom capistrano task for performing other actions on a scm repository? For instance, I would like to create a task that will checkout a particular folder from my repository and then symlink it into the shared/ directory of the main project on my server. I know this can be done by creating a task and explicity defining the "svn co ..." command along with the scm username, password, and repository location. But this would display the password in plain text. Are there any built-in capistrano variables/methods that would help in this process?

• Rails Full Engine using a Full Engine

  I've got this full rails engine Foo with functionality X. I want to make another engine, engine Bar, that is pretty much the same, but override funcitonality x with y. (it basically does the same, but a few controller actions and views are differently implemented). (I might split this later in several mountable engines, but for now, this will be the setup: project Baz, using engine Bar, which uses engine Foo) I would like to know if there are any pitfalls. It doesn't seem like a pattern that is often used? Anybody else using this 'some sort of engine inheritance'?

  At the moment I am using the below query: $claims = ClaimQuery::create('c') ->leftJoinUser() ->withColumn('CONCAT(User.Firstname, " ", User.Lastname)', 'name') ->withColumn('User.Email', 'email') ->filterByArray($conditions) ->paginate($page = $page, $maxPerPage = $top); However I then want to add columns manually, so I thought this would simply work: foreach($claims as &$claim){ $claim->actions = array('edit' => array( 'url' => $this->get('router')->generate('hera_claims_edit'), 'text' => 'Edit' ) ); } return array('claims' => $claims, 'count' => count($claims)); However when the data is returned Propel or Symfony2 seems to be stripping the custom data when it gets converted to JSON along with all of the superflous model data. What is the correct way of manually adding data this way?

• Faking user interaction on CMS

  I'm working with a CMS and need to import data to it using typical html forms. The data itself is in csv files with one page per row. Such is the CMS that importing directly to db isn't possible due to the complexity of the design. It's pretty important that i "fake" usual user interaction because the CMS does a lot of background work that's crucial for the import. Basically, for each row in the csv file, I need to copy a csv column to a html textfield, or select a checkbox, or click a certain button. One major issue is mapping the data in the csv to actions in the CMS. So if one column contains the string 'foobar' is really means "set the firstName dropdown widget to 'foobar'". Is there a tool to automate this? I´ve been looking at AutoHotKey, Selendium, Web-Harvester and many other tools but I'm not convinced they are the correct tools. The main problem is being able to interact with the html pages in a easy way.

• How do I display data in a table and allow users to copy selected data?

  Hi I have a long list of data that I want to display in table format to users. The data changes when the user performs certain actions in my app, but it is not directly editable. So the user can create a reasonably big table of data, but he can't change individual cells' values. However, I do want the data to be copy-able. So I want it to be possible for the user to select some or all of the cells, and do a ctrl-C to copy the data to his clipboard, and then a ctrl-V to paste the data to an external text editor. At the moment, I'm displaying the data in a ListView with a GridView and this works perfectly, except that GridView doesn't allow one to copy data. What other options can I try? Ours is a WPF app, coding in c#.

• Jquery background overlay/alert without .onclick event - php responder?

  Hi guys, I have no experience with jquery or javascript for that matter. I am trying to implement this technique to respond to users for errors or messages in general. lights-out-dimmingcovering-background-content-with-jquery This method uses the onclick event and that's not what im after, I have tried to replace .onclick with .load but that doesn't seem to work. I'm after a quick fix as I really don't have the time to learn jquery or its event handlers. The goal is to catch any errors or message's and once these are called the alert box is called without any further actions such as .onclick.   Im looking for a way to moniter system statistics, here are my main points of interest: CPU Tempature CPU speed, (Cycles per second) CPU Load (Idle percent) GPU Tempature Some other points of interest: Memory useage Network Load (Traffic Up/Down) My ultimate goal is to write an application that can be used for easily running in the backround, and allow setting many events fr certain actions, for instance When processer temp gets to 56C -> Do _Blank_ etc. So this leaves me two main points. Is there a framework already out there for this sort of thing? If No to #1, How can i go about doing this?

  I'm creating a table called news_feed, this will log all the actions a user performs. Lets say I want to store user1234 deleted article412 at midday I then need a table like so timestamp | user_id | subject_type | subject_id | method . there would be 5 potential methods to log, methods = add/edit/delete/update/report and lets say 2 possible subject_type subjects = article/comment I know i could make my own key where 0=add, 1=delete etc etc but this would make my queries cumbersome to use/write as i'd need to keep consulting the key. Is there a MySql type which can read lots of identially values quickly? is this ENUM? how do i use it?!!

I'm using custom tags, but it's the same behavior if I use the default column tags. I've noticed a very strange effect: when clicking the actionlistenercolumn, the actionevent is handled 3 times. If I remove the 2 action columns then the actionevent is handled only once.   What's the best way to check if the view is visible on the window? I have a CustomView which is part of my SDK and anybody can add CustomView to their layouts. My CustomView is taking some actions when it is visible to the user periodically. So if view becomes invisible to the user then it needs to stop the timer and when it becomes visible again it should restart its course. But unfortunately there is no certain way of checking if my CustomView becomes visible or invisible to the user. There are few things that I can check and listen to: onVisibilityChange //it is for view's visibility change, and is introduced in new API 8 version so has backward compatibility issue onWindowVisibilityChange //but my CustomView can be part of a ViewFlipper's Views so it can pose issues onDetachedFromWindows //this not as useful onWindowFocusChanged //Again my CustomView can be part of ViewFlipper's views. So if anybody has faced this kind of issues please throw some light.

However when I try to create a song I get the following error:No action responded to 1. • Assigning a view controller to be the delegate of a subview which is not directly descendent?

  I am writing an iphone app where in numerous cases a subview needs to talk to its superview. For example: View A has a table view that contains photos A has a subview B which allows users to add photos, upon which I want to auto append them to A's table view So far I have been creating a @protocol in B, and registering A as the delegate. The problem in my case is that B has a subview C that allows users to add content, and I want actions in C to invoke changes in its grandparent, A. Currently I am working around this by passing around a self pointer to my base view controller (C.delegate = B.delegate), but it doesn't seem very proper to me. Any thoughts? (and/or general advice on code organization when all sort of subviews needs to talk to superviews would be greatly appreciated) Thanks!

  What are some different solutions to wrapping access to functionality within a .NET MVC application? For example, I have six tabs that represent different areas of the application and within area 1, there is the ability to add, edit, upload, whatever. I need a central way to say: Build some dictionary of what the user can do Wrap tabs, buttons, links, etc, validate the user can access this piece of functionality and show/hide appropriately. I know I can restrict access to actions via action filters and roles, but what about from the UI? Any help would be appreciated. I am sure I am not the only one who has needed to do this, thanks!

  Hi, I want as my application to be structured in 2 parts: the logic code and the UI. I've tried to implement that using a controller class(here I keep the logic code) inside of each activity. The activity send messages to controller and receive the answer in two ways: the answer is returned immediately (if the action is not complex and it can be done in a verry short time) the activity set some listeners and the controller fire this listener when the action is complete. The problems appears when the controller have a lot of objects(each object should handle a set of actions and for each action I have to set & trigger a listener): it is hard to keep the code syncronized. I'm asking if you know a better way to implement this mechanism. Thank you.

• Generating Dynamic web pages without server side scripting

  Hi guys, I am trying to control a media device which has lot of multimedia content that it can play using another device(remote control device) like an ipad connected to the LAN. (UPnP) I want the media device to be able to send the content listing to the remote device so that it will be rendered as a webpage on the remote controller. And actions on the webpages needs to be sent to the the device as commands to execute (like play, pause, next etc). The media device is an embedded device, hence can't have any server side scripting, all has to be done on the client side. I want the page rendered to be HTML5. So, is it possible to generate dynamic HTML5 pages using just client side scripting? Thanks a lot. I am an embedded systems developer hence clueless about the web designing stuff.

• How to run an executable as a system service?

  I've got a file and data distribution application written in .NET 2.0 I've written similar to Steam. This application will need to run in Windows 7 and will need to be able to run and install applications that require administrator rights. However the users will not have admin rights. My thought was to run the application as a Local System Service. I figured by doing this the application could perform admin rights actions (registry edits, launching apps, etc) when the user isn't an admin. Are my assumptions correct? What steps do I need to take to have this app install as a Local System Service? An Administrator will be installing the application but it will be run by a user without Administrator rights. • Using asp.net mvc model binders generically

  I have a hierarchy of classes that all derive from a base type and the base type also implements an interface. What I'm wanting to do is have one controller to handle the management of the entire hierarchy (as the actions exposed via the controller is identical). That being said, I want to have the views have the type specific fields on it and the model binder to bind against a hidden field value. something like: <input type="text" name="model.DerivedTypeSpecificField" /> <input type="hidden" name="modelType" value="MyDerivedType" /> That being said, the asp.net mvc model binders seem to require the concrete type that they will be creating, because of that reason I would need to create a different controller for every derived type. Has anyone does this before or know how to manipulate the model binder to behave in this way? I could write my own model binder, but I'm not wanting anything past the basic model binding behavior of assign properties and building arrays on the target type. Thanks!

  I need some advice, what is the rule of the thumb when creating Rails controllers names? Should controller be all be verbs or a combination of nouns and verbs (or adjectives)? This is the example provided on creating controllers in Rails, ./script/generate controller CreditCard open debit credit close # which is a combination of nouns and verbs (unless credit and debit is made into a verb) However, if I create a scaffold, the default controller actions would be index, show, new, edit, update, destroy, which has 1 noun and all verb. Should nouns and verbs be separated completely for sake of consistency also providing a clearer project goals? Or should I mix them together?

I have a controller named "Account" (singular), which should handle various settings for the currently logged in user. class AccountController < ApplicationController def index end def settings end def email_settings end end How would I set-up the routes for this in a proper manner? At the moment I have: match 'account(/:action)', :to => 'account', :as => 'account' This however does not automagically produce methods like account_settings_path but only account_path Is there any better practice of doing this? Remember the Account controller doesn't represent a controller for an ActiveModel. If this is in fact the best practice, how would I generate links in my views for the actions? url_to :controller => :account, :action => :email_settings ? Thanks!

• Why is a menu item disabled when using SWTBot?

  I've written up a GUI test using SWTBot to test the Extract Method refactoring. I use editor.selectRange() to select a statement to extract into a method. But, when I run the unit test, the Extract Method refactoring menu item is disabled. Thus, SWTBot fails to invoke the refactoring. When we change org.eclipse.jdt.ui.actions.ExtractMethodAction so that the "Extract Method..." menu item is always enabled, our SWTBot passes. But, SWTBot should let us select the menu item without hacking the org.eclipse.jdt.ui plugin. The whole project containing the above unit test is available at github. I've also reported the problem on the Eclipse forum for SWTBot. But, we haven't received a solution from the forum.

• How to install Multiple ActiveX Controls per one step?

  My .ocx contains two ActiveX controls and I use both of them on one page. When user comes to page he gets two install confirmations for the same binary. After the first installation and page reload he gets one control displayed and “the website wants to run the following add-on...” yellow bar with control’s run confirmation for the other. I have only two possible solutions: Adding my CLSID’s to IE’s pre-approved control list, but I guess I cannot do it in the case of Non-Admin installation. Besides I consider this way as unreliable. Use the third control-container for hosting all other controls. It seems to my too complicated. Actually I’m not sure it can be done. Controls are used from the WEB, so I cannot use any administrative tools for installation. Is it possible to do all installation actions with one step without twice installation or run confirmation? Are there any “Best practices” for my case?

• MooTools - Programmatically fired events not working with event delegation

  Would really appreciate if anyone can help me figure out why I am unable to fire events programmatically when using event delegation in MooTools (from the Element.Delegation class). There is a parent <div> that has a change listener on some child <input> elements. When the change event is triggered by user actions, the handler on the parent div gets triggered, but when I fire it programmatically with fireEvent on any child input, nothing happens. The basic setup is: html <div id="listener"> <input type="text" id="color" class="color" /> ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????</div>??????????? js $("listener").addEvent("change:relay(.color)", function() { alert("changed!!"); }); $("color").fireEvent("change"); // nothing happens The event handler on the parent div does not get called.
