  • VMware server 2.0 SYN/ACK repeating issues

    VMWare Server 2.0.0 Build 122956 I am having some issues with connecting into a guest VM (Ubuntu linux 4.4.3-4 lucid) running under VMware 2.0 on a windows server host. All connections to and from the VM's work fine, except for FTP. I thought the issue was the FTP daemon at first but it has been ruled out that it is not the daemon or the server itself. When you try to connect to the FTP server from outside of the host OS it fails with a "421 Service not available" but when you try and connect from the local VM or from the host OS the connection goes through fine. I have ran many packet sniffs using wireshark/tcpdump from the VM, the host OS, and the client connecting, the most informative is the host OS. I have attached a PNG of the relavant packets that were captured. I viewed some other network traffic that was sniffed (WWW specifically) and it seems to do the same syn/ack repeating but the user doesnt see any issues. I have disabled the firewall and the issues persisits, I have tried with specific allow rules to ensure the data is allowed and no changes. It appears like VMware attempts to do the ICMP redirect and it works, but then it vmware repeats the packets sent so you get 3 syn/ack's for every one syn from the client. Also VMWare appears to be attempting to establish an FTP connection between the HOST OS and the GUEST OS, because I see the second SYN sent from the HOST OS to the GUEST to initiate a new connection, and it get the appropriate SYN/ACK followed by an ACK, but the client never sees any of this from its end. EG. syn from client syn/ack from host OS to client syn/ack from guest OS to client syn/ack from host OS to client The same thing happens when the connection reset is attempted, RST's start being sent and repeated, the server responds with a valid header to continue the FTP handshake but the RST acknowledgement is allready issued and things are closed. I am not 100% if this is a bug in VMware or possibly a VMNetwork missconfiguration. Does anyone have any thoughts on where exactly the issue could be, things to try to verify or rule out?     Oracle Master Data Management had a great showing at OOW 2012 ! Special thanks to our customers and partners for presenting with us, sharing their use cases and successes as well as co-sponsoring events.  Almost every session at the show featured a customer and the tremendous success or transformation Oracle MDM resulted in at their organization.  At the DemoGrounds, Oracle MDM saw tremendous interest with many individuals enquiring to see demos, and have their technical questions answered.  The demos provided a perfect opportunity to showcase technical enhancements as well as what features are on the horizon.The MDM customer appreciation dinner event was a smashing success as cusotmers and partners enjoyed a spectacular water view, fine dining and cocktails and one of San Francisco's finest restaurants - The Water Bar.  In a short while the planning for next year's OpenWorld will be under full swing and we can't wait to get started.  See you at OOW 2013!!

  • Setting Up and Running Summary Advisor on an Exalytics Machine (Oracle-by-Example)

    If you are running Oracle BI on an Exalytics machine, you can use Summary Advisor to identify the aggregates that will increase query performance. Summary Advisor intelligently recommends an optimal list of aggregate tables based on query patterns that will achieve maximum query performance gain while meeting specific resource constraints. Summary Advisor then generates an aggregate creation script that can be run to create the recommended aggregate tables. Aggregate tables reduce query times by storing precomputed results for queries that include rolled-up data. This tutorial covers steps to set up, configure, and run Summary Advisor on an Exalytics machine using TimesTen database as a target for storing aggregates. You can find the Oracle By Example (OBE) in the Oracle Learning Library (OLL). The content in OLL is available to all customers, partners, and employees.

  • Rendering of Oracle Secure Global Desktop's Administration Console on Modern Browser Versions

    For customers using Oracle Secure Global Desktop version 4.6x, one of the issues reported is the improper rendering of the administration console when using modern browser versions such as Safari 5, Firefox 4+ or Internet Explorer 9. We are pleased to provide a fix for use of these modern browser versions when using Oracle Secure Global Desktop 4.6x. Please refer to Doc ID 1367923.1 on My Oracle Support. The solution involves a new .jar file, oracletheme.jar and following a few simple instructions. Download the new oracletheme.jar to /tmp and backup the existing one located at  /opt/tarantella/webserver/tomcat/<tomcat_ver>/webapps/sgdadmin/WEB-INF/lib/oracletheme.jar Stop the webserver  /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella stop webserver Copy the new oracletheme.jar to the correct directory cp /tmp/oracletheme.jar /opt/tarantella/webserver/tomcat/<tomcat_ver>/webapps/sgdadmin/WEB- INF/lib/oracletheme.jar Verify permissions for the file -rw-r----- 1 root ttaserv 280449 Sep 9 2010 oracletheme.jar Finally, restart the webserver /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella start webserver

    Hi, I want to move 500 table from Database to other with their data and constraints all the tables have column who has default value, I used SSIS using "Transfer SQL Server Object Task" and I choose to copy all tables, copy data and primary keys, it copies the table except the default bindings I tried in SQL Server 2008 CopyAllDRIObjects Property but still the same result. How can I copy all tables from database to other with their data and maintaining their constraints.

Here's the error I'm getting: The TCP/IP connection to the host <instance_name>, port 1433 has failed. Error: Connection refused: connect. Is the firewall blocking my access or what? Should I dedicate a different port for this application?

  • sql server: import operation won't copy full schema

    I recall that the import tool in sql server 2000 would copy indexes, relationships, etc. In sql server 2005/2008 the import tool in SSMS will only create the tables, copy the data, but the keys, indexes, relationships are missing. I can find no option in the import wizard to enable this? What am I missing here? Is this not possible anymore for any good reason?

  • Remove Downed Exchange Server from First Administrative Group

    I had a server die. It is gone forever. It is still listed in the servers folder of the first administrative group in the Exchange System Manager. When I click "all tasks Remove Server" I get the following error: The Server "SERVERNAME" cannot be removed because: -One or more users currently use a mailbox on this server. These users must be moved to a mailbox store on a different server or be mail disabled before uninstalling this server. Facility: Exchange System Manager ID no: c103f492 Exchange System Manager Any help would be MUCH appreciated. I cannot access the mailbox stores anymore and I do not care about the lost mailboxes. We deleted the inactive and old users as well. So I am stumped on this one. I just need to remove the old machine. THANKS!

    Hello, I have two machines: A: Win 2008 server B: Windows 7 They are on the same workgroup, and I enabled network discovery. So on the server, I have SQL Server installed with a SQL Server account (mixed mode is enabled). I'm trying to connect to this server from the win 7 machine in the workgroup, but no go. Do I have to reference the server by something else than machine name? How do I successfully establish that relation? I am a n00b to this type of thing... Thanks.
