• Any exprience with Castle ActiveRecord?

  Hi all, I was searching for a light data access framework based on NHibernate. I needed simple CRUD and some simple HQL or LINQ-to-NHhibernate queries. Performance was not an important issue and applications which I'm working on have simple table structure but many tables. This data access framework is going to be used in a ASP.NET Webform application. Once a time I found S#harp architecture, but it was developed for ASP.NET MVC. Just today I found Castle ActiveRecord. But I'm wondering: If any one has any experience with it? Is it suitable for me? Should I consider any specific matter? What about its future? Is Castle ActiveRecord supposed to be developed and be active in coming years? Thanks in Advance

• Unable to set relative path for flash file in ASP.NET MVC using AC_FL_RunContent

  Hi, I have a website using asp.net mvc in which I need to embed a flash file in view. I am unable to set the relative path for the flash file. Given below is the code I am using: AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase', 'http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0', 'width', '487', 'height', '359', 'menu', 'false', 'movie', 'images/butterfly', 'quality', 'high', 'allowscriptaccess', 'sameDomain', 'pluginspage', 'http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' ); where I copied butterfly.swf in a directory called images. images directory resides in the views folder. If I use code behind( default.aspx default.aspx.cs) in a different solution with the same folder strucuture, browser is able to load the flash file. • Objective-C : enum like Java (int values and many others for each enum)

  In Java, you can make an enum having multiples values. In objective-C, this cannot be done easily. I've read many pages about this but I didn't found anything satisfying that would allow me to use enums by a simple way and to keep the enum declaration and their different values in the same file. • Is there an existing solution to the multithreaded data structure problem?

  I've had the need for a multi-threaded data structure that supports these claims: Allows multiple concurrent readers and writers Is sorted Is easy to reason about Fulfilling multiple readers and one writer is a lot easier, but I really would wan't to allow multiple writers. I've been doing research into this area, and I'm aware of ConcurrentSkipList (by Lea based on work by Fraser and Harris) as it's implemented in Java SE 6. I've also implemented my own version of a concurrent Skip List based on A Provably Correct Scalable Concurrent Skip List by Herlihy, Lev, Luchangco and Shavit. These two implementations are developed by people that are light years smarter then me, but I still (somewhat ashamed, because it is amazing work) have to ask the question if these are the two only viable implementations of a concurrent multi reader/writer data structures available today?

• Action Controller: Exception - ID not found

  Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting the hang of Rails and thanks to a few people I now have a basic grasp of the database relations and associations etc. You can see my previous questions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2714621/rails-database-relationships I have setup my applications models with all of the necessary has_one and has_many :through etc. but when I go to add a kase and choose from a company from the drop down list - it doesnt seem to be assigning the company ID to the kase. I have the following code: myADC = 128 maxVoltage = 5.0 maxADC = 255.0 VoltsPerADC = maxVoltage/maxADC myVolts = myADC * VoltsPerADC print "myADC = {0: >3}".format(myADC) print "VoltsPerADC = {0: >7}".format(VoltsPerADC) print VoltsPerADC print "myVolts = {0: >7}".format(myVolts) print myVolts This outputs the following: myADC = 128 VoltsPerADC = 0.0196078 0.0196078431373 myVolts = 2.5098 2.50980392157 I have been searching for an explanation of how the number of significant digits is determined by default, but have had trouble locating an explanation that makes sense to me. This link link text suggests that by default the "print" statement prints numbers to 10 significant figures, but that does not seem to be the case in my results. How are the number of significant digits/precision determined? Can someone shed some light on this for me. Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

• Proxy calls across a DMZ

  We need to determine a quick way for our web application deployed in a DMZ to communicate to our SQL server that lives in the protected network. Only port 80 is open and available, and no direct SQL traffic is allowed across the firewall. So take the following simple system. A web page (default.aspx) makes a call (string GetData()) that resides in an assembly (Simple.DLL). GetData() uses ADO.NET to open a connection, execute a SQL call, retrieve the data, and return the data to the caller. However, since only port 80 is available and no SQL traffic is allowed, what could we do to accomplish our goal? I believe a .NET remoting solution would work, and I have heard of an architecture where a remoting layer proxies the call from Simple.DLL in the DMZ to another Simple.DLL that runs on the protected side. The remoting layer handles the communication between the two DLL’s. Can someone shed some light on how WCF/remoting can help us and how to get started with a solution?

• IE 8 Errors for Group Permissions for access

  Hello, The company I work for is about to begin testing for a transition from IE6 to IE8. One of our main concerns is about using permissions to control intranet access to internal sites,etc. This was a problem we encountered during testing for IE7 and scrapped it all together. However, IE6 has more than its foot in the grave, its head is peeking out. Microsoft is only supporting IE6 until 2014 when they also abandon support for Windows XP. IE7 just came up with a box asking for you to enter your credentials. It didn't matter if you had permissions, it always said access denied. We have yet to begin testing but I was hoping someone has encountered this issue as well and may be able to shed some light on the subject.

• Drag Rotate UIImageView by touch

  I have an UIImageView that is a subview of an UIView. I'm trying to create a drag rotate effect with the UIImageView similar to spinning a bottle but I'm having trouble calculating the radians to rotate the image by. My code below seems like it should work because I've seen a similar calculation in Flash examples. Can anyone shed some light on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. • WPF TreeViewItem deselected item still lightly highlighted

  Hello WPF fellows, I have multiple expander controls with a ViewTree control within each expander control. When I select a ViewTreeItem from one ViewTree and then select another ViewTreeItem from another ViewTree, the newly selected ViewTreeItem is highlighted in dark blue, but the last selected item is now highlighted in a very light shade of blue. Please look at www.zunjaa.com/public/images/screen.jpg to see what I'm talking about. How do I make it so that no longer active item does not show the lighter blue? Thanks.

• Getting Windows XP colours in .NET

  I am trying to get a specific colour used by Windows XP in my .NET application. In Windows XP, if you go the Control Panel in 'category view', on the left hand side you have some 'See Also' options (Windows Update, Help and Support, Other Control Panel Options). The colour I'm trying to get is the light blue background colour shown behind these options. I don't need the hex/RGB value of the colour, as it can change depending on the style settings used on the desktop. My question is - is it possible to programmatically get hold of this colour in a .NET app? The colour doesn't appear to be in SystemColors, although it's very similar to SystemColors.InactiveCaptionText (and I think I can probably get away with using this). I'm just wondering if there is a way to get hold of the exact colour.

• Interface Builder - XCode link broken with iPad-converted xib

  In porting my app to a universal iPhone / iPad app, the xibs I created by using Interface Builder's "Create iPad Version" will not link to the project properly: They don't pick up on classes and images from the project file. IB tells me that "there is no xcode project associated with this document" with a gray light in the status bar. Yet the xib is in the project, was launched by double-clicking in xcode, and both are open. The old xibs work fine though. I don't understand what could be causing this. So, my question is, how do I restore the link?

• What static analysis tools are available for C#?

  What tools are there available for static analysis against C# code? I know about FxCop and StyleCop. Are there others? I've run across NStatic before but it's been in development for what seems like forever - it's looking pretty slick from what little I've seen of it, so it would be nice if it would ever see the light of day. Along these same lines (this is primarily my interest for static analysis), tools for testing code for multithreading issues (deadlocks, race conditions, etc.) also seem a bit scarce. Typemock Racer just popped up so I'll be looking at that. Anything beyond this? Real-life opinions about tools you've used are appreciated.

I have gotten suggestions from people stating that I should perform logging using handlers in the application and use a "logger" object for logging from the API.   Let's say I have the MSP430 assembly segment below: r15: 439c Memory map: 4390: 6045 0200 9c43 6400 8844 5044 363a 0000 Code: 448a: cmp #0x363a, 0x0(r15) 4490: jnz $+0x1c 4492: Code continues . . . 44ac: Jump to location The goal is to have the Z flag high. To do this with a cmp, both src and dst must be equal. If I have 363a in the memory location of r15, why is it that the resulting cmp does not trigger the Z flag? Through experimentation, I found that putting 3a36 in the memory location of r15 did in fact trigger the Z flag, but I don't understand why. If anyone could bring this to light, I would greatly appreciate it. If more information is needed, I will gladly provide it.

• Problem with a SQL statement

  I'm trying to enter values into a database table using a form and a PHP function. The PHP seems to be fine as the SQL statement it creates looks okay, but the database always throws up an error. This is the SQL statement that my code has generated (with arbitrary values): INSERT INTO Iteminfo ('itemName', 'itemSeller', 'itemCategory', 'itemDescription', 'itemPrice', 'itemPostage', 'itemBegin', 'itemEnd', 'buynow', 'itemPicture') values ('gorillaz album', 'ben', 'music', 'new one ', '5.00', '1.00', '2010-03-15 14:59:51', '2010-03-16 14:59:51', '0', 'http://www.thefader.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/gorillaz-plastic-beach.jpg') This throws up an error both when I use the PHP function to evaluate the query and also when I use phpMyAdmin to enter the query manually. However, I can't see anything wrong with it. Can anyone shed some light on this? All of the fields are VARCHAR values, except for itemPrice and itemPostage (which are stored as DECIMAL(4,2)) and the itemBegin and itemEnd, which are stored as DATETIMEs.

However, the HQL parser seems to be ignoring my parenthesis, thus changing the meaning of my statement. Can anyone shed any light on the matter? • How to get Jquery form plugin and Jquery validation to work together.

  Hello guys, I was hoping someone can shed some light on what might be occurring on my page. Okay what I currently have on my page is a simple form that collects first name, last name, city, state and email. Once submitted it will hit a PHP page that updates our DB and echo's back to the designted div with a class of .response. I am using jquery.validation and placing that dynamic function within the submitHandler like so: submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit({ target: '.response', // target element(s) to be updated with server response resetForm: true, success: function() { $('#commentform').hide(); $('.response').show(); } }); So what I am getting is a div that is not being populated with the echo from my php file in FF and in IE I am getting the message of thank you but the page is taking me to the update.php script in which I have the form action pointing to.   From the preface of the second edition of Kernighan and Ritchie's "The C Programming Language": As before, all examples have been tested directly from the text, which is in machine-readable form. That quote threw me for a loop. What exactly does it mean? Was the original manuscript written as a literate program? My first thought was that this book, published in 1988 (original, first edition in 1978) predates literate programming, but now I'm not so sure. Can anybody shed some light on this?

• Two windows fullscreen on two different screen.

  Hi! I'm actually working on an app to display an image onto a Dome. The dome projection system is constitued of two projector and a pc running a GentoO Linux and KDE, with nvidia TwinView system. Since here i've used SDL to display a fullscreen windows, and it display my app onto the two screen. But i just figured that i need to project two different images, one on each projector. That's why i search for a solution to display a fullscreen window on the first screen (projector) and another on the second. But SDL fullscreen just extend the window to the two screens. I can use any librairie (since it light and free, as i will wrap it into my small "API"), or change display setting. BTW it would be nice to have openGL support, since SDL manage only one window ^^"

• CSS Jquery - When I change background color the text becomes fuzzy in IE6 ?

Any idea why a simple change in background color messes up the text. Thanks
