Hi Guys,
Can someone point me to some instructions for configuring multiple monitors in Ubuntu 10.04 using the generic drivers (nv)? I can't seem to find this online.

I am facing a company that have a fairly recent Microsoft Dynamics NAV (C/Side) setup that comes with a non-SQL storage system called the native database server. I would need to be remotely connect to this database, and perform what would equate to SQL queries with very modest needs (no join, no complex filtering).
I am rather ignorant of this technology, does someone knows to how make remote queries to this ERP?
I'm using a new terminal emulator. Terminology is the E17 default terminal, and it have a great command, $ tyls with is a "graphical" $ ls
I want to create an alias just for this terminal, because the command "tyls" don't make sense to konsole, rxvt or other terminals.
I'm thinking in some kind of "if" in ~/.bash_profile to test if I'm on terminology and then run the following command:
alias ls="tyls"
But how can I test if I'm in terminology but not xterm? Can someone help me?
Thanks!
For some reason, the timestamp in my Tomcat logs is off. The system clock is correct, and set to PST, but the Tomcat logs appear to be using GMT. I haven't been able to find this setting anywhere...hoping someone can shed some light.
Thanks
I make regular small edits to a 150 page document and find it frustrating that word does not remember what part of the document I last edited. Is there some option I can set in word so that it does remember, or if not, can someone suggest an easy trick to help with this problem.
The version of Apache shipped in RHEL 5.4 is very old. A feature I need only shipped recently. It seems Apache upstream only ships tarballs, and omits binary packages. Obviously I could build from source, but what's the canonical way to upgrade a single package like this?
Is it common procedure to drop a newer tarball in the existing SPEC, or does someone already do all this with an eye towards RHEL?
I wanted to buy some domain already owned by someone else. So I contact it's registrar, negotiated the price and came to a deal. Everything was done via e-mail.
Now what? How the actual domain ownership is transfered to me? What information should I asked for before giving any money to the registrant?
Note: the registrar is a well known domain name registrar, accredited by the ICANN and everything.
How can i block a sub-site of a website as e.g. http://example.com/someSite
unfortunately the hosts file is not an option since you can only block whole domains there and any "/" just destroys these rules.
this is just for my personal protection against visiting some sites too often, while i still have to be able to get to the other sites of that domain (as e.g. example.com/someOtherSite)
would be great if someone knows a solution regarding this topic
When I create (or some one else) creates a google group and adds my email id [email protected], then I am told that the email id is blocked. Can someone suggest what could be wrong.
Thanks.
Hi all!
I don't get that: as soon as I open a Webpage, whether it's with Firefox or Chrome (I hate so much IE that I didn't test with it), there are tons of TCP connexions between "localajaxchat" and a supposed google ("1e100") domain.
I've already read this topic, but my problem seems strange because there are so many TCP connexions for only one page... I don't get it.
If someone could explain this problem to me...
Thanks a lot!
A frined of mine asked me to help him with an Alienware m15x laptop that had a little service history.
It was bought in june 2008, serviced in january 2009 for a random fps drop problem, Alienware returned it saying nothing was wrong. The laptop still had hiccups, but after juggling a few drivers and settings, the fps drops weren't as noticeable.
Eventually it died in Sept. 2009. It would not boot up locking itself on a white/gray screen. (i think it was overheating .. clocking in 100 degrees Celsius).
So back to Alienware it went. They replaced the GPU and all was fine.
Up until these blue screens started showing up.
One other thing that was updated was the HDD and a Windows 7 reinstall, in August. From then on it seems to have started its BSOD. Could this be the culprit? Why? 0_o
The original Windows was Vista but it was upgraded with a digital download/purchase of Windows 7 Home Premium and activated after installing windows. No errors on the old HDD, just on the latest installation.
LE:Due note that now the old HDD is used to see if issues re-occur.
So please, I am in need of someone who can interpret these windows dump files:
Minidump
I may have come to some conflicting conclusions.
So if someone can clarify each dump/date and the probable cause/error it had; and a final conclusion or solution, we would be very grateful.
Also please consult report for other system info I omitted: same link, code: XRWIVLWG
If I missed something or if you have any other questions I'll be happy to answer them.
Thank you. Good day.

What roles do the Xorg server and a window manager, for example, metacity, play in displaying windows? Does the window manager communicate with the OS or Xorg? Does Xorg then use OpenGl to display things? Can someone explain what exactly the Xorg server does, and what exactly the window manager does, and the differences between the two. Also, if you could show me the Windows equivalent, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance, ell.
I am watching a Flash stream. I can watch the same stream in two different players (set up by someone else), but I don't like any of them.
Is there a way I can find/get/extract the direct link to the flash stream that those two players are playing? So that I can watch it using a different player?
Edit: The player is streaming an RTMP stream, not an FLV video file.
If I make a VPN connection to a server (say myvpn.com; assume this server is not behind any router/firewall) via a TUN device and open a port (say 5555), will someone else be able to connect to me via myvpn.com:5555? If not, is there a tunneling software that does exactly this in a transparent manner? i.e. run any TCP/UDP-based server instance behind a router without NAT using another remote server.
It looks likesomeone is using my server and hosting my application on different URL. When I visit this other URL an exact working copy of my website is present, though the browser objects when I attempt to access an HTTPS page. What has this person done?
A while back, I came across a random password generator for the command line that displayed a grid of "memorable" passwords. Output was something like this:
adam@host:~$ CantRememberThisCommand
lkajsdf aksjdfl
kqwrupo qwerpoi
qwerklw zxlkelq
The idea was that you could run this utility while someone was looking over your shoulder, and still pick a password with some level of secrecy due to the large number of choices.
I cannot remember what this utility was called. Oh interwebs, can you help?
Today I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on one of my notebook machines and I noticed that I can't access BIOS settings if I use the "Shut down" Windows option on Settings/Power menu. If I use the "Restart" option, my BIOS allow me to enter on it's settings over "F2" again.
Is this happening to someone else? I looked over Windows 8 oficial forum and couldn't find such event. Is this something foreseeable to the new Windows 8?
I have an issue with the ACL configuration of an LDAP server (slapd). The following ACL entry is active as the first rule that applies:
{0}to dn.subtree="ou=some,ou=where,ou=beneath,dc=the,dc=rain,dc=bow" attrs=entry,children by users write
Now the strange thing that happens is that given that rule I can add an entry to the respective DN but if I want to modify it with the very same user, then I get
0x32 (LDAP_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS)
Can someone give me a hint what the problem could be?
How would someone go about setting up wildcard sub-domains with the suggested Tornado deployment? Specifically for SaaS apps that would allow users to have http://username.example.com/ As well as letting them point their own domain to that URL.
I just recently installed eaccelerator and switched php to dso everything was fine on server Server load was about 1-2 (4 cpus) and after some time server got overloaded (Server load increased to 250) and server stopped.
In suphp mode server was overloading by traffic so i decided to switch it to eaccelerator and now i am lost... Can someone explain that?
Hi all,
I'm new to both OpenManage and System Center, but it sounds as if they're geared towards similar problems/goals. Are the features comparable enough that OpenManage can be forgone completely in favor of System Center products?
Specifically I'm hoping to achieve storage monitoring and remote administration, although if someone with experience with both wants to provide a quick compare/contrast (objective, of course) I won't complain.
Thanks!
Hi all
The title says it, I searched the net but not even in the microsoft technet they mention what features I must activate for SQL Server 2005. Can someone help me out?
In our cluster, RedHat4 & 5 machines, if someone locks the computer and walks away no body can use it. Is there a feature in RedHat5, Gnome, KDE etc that would allow for the option of switching users at the lock screen, so more than one person can be logged in?
Thanks,

I have the following backup batch file:
xcopy C:\test.txt \server\Data\user\"data test" /e /y /i
The issue is why does it not only copy the file listed but proceeds to copy the whole root directory? When i remove the switches it only copies the file. There is nothing in the description of those switches that seems to cause the behavior... They are there because I'm picking up where someone else left and all the batch files use these 3 switches.
Thanks
