  • Can the features of Dell OpenManage be replaced by Microsoft System Center?

    Hi all, I'm new to both OpenManage and System Center, but it sounds as if they're geared towards similar problems/goals. Are the features comparable enough that OpenManage can be forgone completely in favor of System Center products? Specifically I'm hoping to achieve storage monitoring and remote administration, although if someone with experience with both wants to provide a quick compare/contrast (objective, of course) I won't complain.   • Alternative to Dropbox (on my server)?

    I love using Dropbox to sync files between all my machines, and I've heard it uses rsync internally to keep files synced. Sometimes I need to sync very large things, and I don't necessarily want to pay for storage space on someone else's server when I have my own. So does anyone know of any nice cross-platform (pref. open source) automatic file-sync applications out there for this?

  • After Windows 8 installation I can't access BIOS settings anymore

    Today I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on one of my notebook machines and I noticed that I can't access BIOS settings if I use the "Shut down" Windows option on Settings/Power menu. If I use the "Restart" option, my BIOS allow me to enter on it's settings over "F2" again. Is this happening to someone else? I looked over Windows 8 oficial forum and couldn't find such event. Is this something foreseeable to the new Windows 8?

    A while back, I came across a random password generator for the command line that displayed a grid of "memorable" passwords. Output was something like this: adam@host:~$ CantRememberThisCommand lkajsdf aksjdfl kqwrupo qwerpoi qwerklw zxlkelq The idea was that you could run this utility while someone was looking over your shoulder, and still pick a password with some level of secrecy due to the large number of choices. I cannot remember what this utility was called. Oh interwebs, can you help?

  • Virtualbox - USB Devices don't install correctly using Windows 7

    I am trying to install the drivers for my HTC Magic (2.1) and my iPod Touch "3G" 8GB (4.1), but when I plug them in, neither of them successfully install their drivers. They work perfectly fine when running on Windows natively, why are they behaving like this on Virtual Box? I am using Windows 7 (AMD64) - Natively & Non Natively. Ubuntu 10.10 - Also Natively Virtual Box 4.0.0 Hopefully someone has encountered this before and has an answer XD

    Everywhere I turn, I keep seeing the term "cloud computing". I've done the usual drill of reading Wikipedia, searching around a bit, but it's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. Can someone provide a buzzword-free definition of clouding computing? It's a bit of a struggle given that seemingly every tech company uses the term now, probably incorrectly.

  • Forgotten LUKS passphrase

    i am stuck with a big problem. I have encrypted my linux drive with LUKS and now I can't remember it. During boot, it prompts me for the passphrase, but I went into troubleshooting mode and deleted the entry from /etc/crypttab so at least I can boot now into my account but that doesn't solve the problem. I can't access my drive /dev/sda5. Can someone please show me a way to crack the passphrase or is there no way around it.

  • Computer no display from connection problem.

    My computer is booting but has no display. The optical drive has power, but the USB doesn't, so I figured that I had a broken motherboard. However I tried to boot my computer again laying flat, and it worked fine for two seconds, and then froze like it did the first time. It had no display after that. I have come to the conclusion that it is a connection problem (someone had a similar problem on one of the online forums).

Basically the structure of my App looks like this Headdirectory -- -APPBase -SomeMoreStuff -WWWDirectory .htaccess So i need to redirect into the WWWDirectory when i open the Headdirectory. In Apache its done with a htaccess and the following Content : RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(.*) www/$1 I already tried in Nginx : location /Headdirectory { rewrite ^/(.*) /www/$1; } And i tried to create an Alias but that didnt work... Would be nice if someone could help me out. Have a nice Day
