Hi all,
I'm new to both OpenManage and System Center, but it sounds as if they're geared towards similar problems/goals. Are the features comparable enough that OpenManage can be forgone completely in favor of System Center products?
Specifically I'm hoping to achieve storage monitoring and remote administration, although if someone with experience with both wants to provide a quick compare/contrast (objective, of course) I won't complain.
Thanks!
I love using Dropbox to sync files between all my machines, and I've heard it uses rsync internally to keep files synced.
Sometimes I need to sync very large things, and I don't necessarily want to pay for storage space on someone else's server when I have my own. So does anyone know of any nice cross-platform (pref. open source) automatic file-sync applications out there for this?
I just bought a domain name for my web site from GoDaddy.
the content of the site is available at a public IP address.
how do I link my domain name to the IP address ?
how do I make it so that when someone types in my domain name, the content of the web server is displayed ?
thanks.
Hi. I installed CentOS via unetbootin and USB stick. Unfortunately, I can not now start my system w/o my USB usb drive.
Can someone provide me with some information how to fix this?
Thanks.
Today I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on one of my notebook machines and I noticed that I can't access BIOS settings if I use the "Shut down" Windows option on Settings/Power menu. If I use the "Restart" option, my BIOS allow me to enter on it's settings over "F2" again.
Is this happening to someone else? I looked over Windows 8 oficial forum and couldn't find such event. Is this something foreseeable to the new Windows 8?
Hi Folks,
does someone knows an elegant way to replace an string in alle Subversion repositorys ?
Something like: Search for "Facebook" replace it by "Twitter" ? Or is the only possible solution to check out alle projects, change it, and commit it?
Thanks for your help.
A while back, I came across a random password generator for the command line that displayed a grid of "memorable" passwords. Output was something like this:
adam@host:~$ CantRememberThisCommand
lkajsdf aksjdfl
kqwrupo qwerpoi
qwerklw zxlkelq
The idea was that you could run this utility while someone was looking over your shoulder, and still pick a password with some level of secrecy due to the large number of choices.
I cannot remember what this utility was called. Oh interwebs, can you help?
I am trying to install the drivers for my HTC Magic (2.1) and my iPod Touch "3G" 8GB (4.1), but when I plug them in, neither of them successfully install their drivers.
They work perfectly fine when running on Windows natively, why are they behaving like this on Virtual Box?
I am using Windows 7 (AMD64) - Natively & Non Natively.
Ubuntu 10.10 - Also Natively
Virtual Box 4.0.0
Hopefully someone has encountered this before and has an answer XD
Everywhere I turn, I keep seeing the term "cloud computing". I've done the usual drill of reading Wikipedia, searching around a bit, but it's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Can someone provide a buzzword-free definition of clouding computing? It's a bit of a struggle given that seemingly every tech company uses the term now, probably incorrectly.
Can someone point me to clear directions for a Dual-Boot system using Windows 7 on #1 SSD and Linux Ubuntu on SSD #2? And then configuring 2 HDD's in RAID 1 for Data (NTFS)? Clean Install all around. Or what other set-up would be preferable to achieve a similar goal?
I have this USB flash drive which has two partitions separated by the manufacturer. The interface included doesn't allow me to merge them and I was wondering if someone has come across such problem.
Hi, I would like to be able to serve a local webpage (on a LAN) when someone connects to a WiFi network. This happens quite often in libraries, cafes etc, so i'm sure it can be done, but I have no idea how and can't seem to find much through searching the web. That, and my very limited networking knowledge means I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. Many thanks!
i am stuck with a big problem.
I have encrypted my linux drive with LUKS and now I can't remember it. During boot, it prompts me for the passphrase, but I went into troubleshooting mode and deleted the entry from /etc/crypttab so at least I can boot now into my account but that doesn't solve the problem. I can't access my drive /dev/sda5.
Can someone please show me a way to crack the passphrase or is there no way around it.
For reasons I won't get into, I need to copy directories so long as the average system load is low. Can someone help me write a BASH script that will copy the contents of a directory, but check to make sure the average system load is below X before copying each file, and if not, wait Y seconds and try again?
My computer is booting but has no display. The optical drive has power, but the USB doesn't, so I figured that I had a broken motherboard. However I tried to boot my computer again laying flat, and it worked fine for two seconds, and then froze like it did the first time. It had no display after that. I have come to the conclusion that it is a connection problem (someone had a similar problem on one of the online forums).
i have a collection of word files with lots of formulas objects made in MathType.
i know there's a way to mass convert doc files to open office format, but it doesn't guarantee that formulas will be transfered smoothly.
i was wondering if someone already figured out how to do that
thanks in adnvace
Hello,
A professor at the university asked me if I could install some software for him on his laptop that runs SLES 11. I'm not familiar with SUSE (I typically work with debian based machines) so I'm having some trouble finding/installing some software.
Here's the list of software he needs installed:
-xv (plotting software)
-xmgrace
-LaTeX
Can someone point me toward some rpms for the above-mentioned software?
Is there a legitimate technical difference between malware and viruses? I have looked at the Wikipedia entries but I am not really seeing the difference.
Currently, I kind of feel like this is just Symantec's way of getting more money for products (features). But maybe someone involved more deeply in this area can explain this.
I am running tomcat server on Fedora machine.

i could use a little help with rewrite and nginx...
Basically the structure of my App looks like this
Headdirectory --
-APPBase
-SomeMoreStuff
-WWWDirectory
.htaccess
So i need to redirect into the WWWDirectory when i open the Headdirectory.
In Apache its done with a htaccess and the following Content :

RewriteRule ^(.*) www/$1
I already tried in Nginx :

}
And i tried to create an Alias but that didnt work...
Would be nice if someone could help me out.
Have a nice Day
I'd be following the procedure outlined here (unless of course someone has a better way to do it), and I'm wondering if I could just have some help being pointed in the right direction on how to start.
Basically I need help first on HOW to create functions, and general tips on making it adjustable for varying number of columns etc. This may be a very complicated task, as I have no previous experience making SQL functions, so please let me know if this is a difficult task for an SQL noobie working with MS SQL 2005.
Goodday,
I have never cleaned the servers at my work but they are now running 5 times a week for 5 years.
Now they asked me to clean it with the tape that has come with it.
My qeustion is how do you clean it? Just put the tape in but then what?
Hope someone gives me an answer.
I'm trying to sanitize this output from it's metadata to plug this output into GreekTools, but I am getting stuck on sed.
curl --silent www.brainyquote.com | egrep '(span class="body")|(span class="bodybold")' | sed -n '6p; 7p; ' | sed 's/\<*\>//g'

Could someone help me along on this track?
