    Help! I'm getting a File Not Found error when trying to rename a file w/a variable. The variable is string. I can look at the variable and it's the exact filename that is there, but when I run the code, it says not found!     Here is data structure w/ variables: struct Part_record { char id_no[3]; int qoh; string desc; double price: }; --- (Using "cin" to input data) --- Part_record null_part = {" ", 0," ",0.0}; --- --- file.seekg( -(long)sizeof(Part_record), ios::cur); file.write( ( char *)&part, sizeof(Part_record) ); The three variables, qoh, Id_no & price, write out correctly, but the "desc" variable is not right. Do I need to initialize Part_record some other way? It should be 20 characters in length. If you have enough info here, pls share your advice,thanks.

There are additional associations throughout the registry.     I wanted to do a full text search across several related tables in SQL Server 2008. From browsing this site I've realised the best option is via a view, but initially I thought I was meant to add several tables to the same full text index via Management Studio. I started to do this and realised the index would have no idea how they were related, so my question is: when would I want to have a full text index covering several tables in this way? Apologies for the vagueness, I am just trying to satisfy my curiosity after Google let me down.

    I am using Python. What is the best way to open a file in rw if it exists, or if it does not, then create it and open it in rw? From what i read, file = open('myfile.dat', 'rw') should do this, no? it is not working for me (python 2.6.2) and im wondering if it is a version problem, or not supposed to work like that or what. The bottom line is, i just need a solution for the problem. I am curious about the other stuff, but all i need is a nice way to do the opening part. thanks in advance

    I have an ASP.Net Application that sends text messages to mobile phones. It does this by sending an email. For instance, if your phone number is 555-555-5555 and your wireless carrier is Verizon, you can send an email to [email protected] and it will show up as a text message. I want to be able to include a newline in the body of the message. How do I do this? Also please note that my ASP.Net program gets the message from a database (MS SQL Server) so what I really need to know is what characters to include in the message body when I store it in my database. I already tried \n but it just showed up in the text message as \n

  • Calling class in Java after editing file used in as source for table

    I'm currently working on a project, I'll try to subrscibe first. I save data into text file, that I use as a source for browser of that data. The browser is based on table that contains the data. I have to rewrite the source file everytime I delete or edit data. That's where the problem comes in. After deleting or editing data I call a method to create the table again, but the table never creates. Is it possibly made by editing the file and calling the method right after that? If I restart my app the table is successfully created with right data. Take in note that I don't get any error message.   • How to give 'Everybody' full rights to a file (programmatically)

    I'm modifying an old C++ program to run on Vista. It does not require Admin privileges. I've changed the code to put logfiles in \ProgramData\MyApp\. These logfiles are written with the stdio functions (fopen, fprintf, fclose). Here's the problem: UserA runs the program first, it creates \ProgramData\MyApp\MyLogFile.txt UserB runs the program next, it tries to append to MyLogFile.txt and gets access denied. I tried creating a null SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR and passing that to CreateFile(). That does create a file with "no permissions assigned", but it seems as if the first user to write to the file takes ownership and afterwards all the other non-admin users are out of luck. It's important that all users share the same logfiles, but it's also important that I change as little code as possible.

  • Programatically determining file "size on disk" in advance

    I need to know how big a given in-memory buffer will be as an on-disk (usb stick) file before I write it. I know that unless the size falls on the block size boundary, its likely to get rounded up, e.g. a 1 byte file takes up 4096 bytes on-disk. I'm currently doing this using GetDiskFreeSpace() to work out the disk block size, then using this to calculate the on-disk size like this: GetDiskFreeSpace(szDrive, &dwSectorsPerCluster, &dwBytesPerSector, NULL, NULL); dwBlockSize = dwSectorsPerCuster * dwBytesPerSector; if (dwInMemorySize % dwBlockSize != 0) { dwSizeOnDisk = ((dwInMemorySize / dwBlockSize) * dwBlockSize) + dwBlockSize; } else { dwSizeOnDisk = dwInMemorySize; } Which seems to work fine, BUT GetDiskFreeSpace() only works on disks up to 2GB according to MSDN. GetDiskFreeSpaceEx() doesn't return the same information, so my question is, how else can I calculate this information for drives 2GB? Is there an API call I've missed? Can I assume some hard values depending on the overall disk size?

In one project, I can use File.WriteAllBytes(path, Resource1.Image); to dump the resource to disk. In another, Resource1 is does not exist. I've done this before but all I can find is information about localizations (?) when I search MSDN for how to work with Resources.

What would be the best way to do this? Would I read one line from the file and then split each characters separately and transfer it to the new array?     There are obvious counterparts for some of file systems' basic operations (eg. ls and rm), but how would you implement not straightforwardly RESTful actions such as cp or mv? As answers to the question REST services - exposing non-data “actions” suggest, the preferred way of implementing cp would include GETting the resource, DELETing it and PUTting it back again with a new name. But what if I would need to do it efficiently? For instance, if the resource's size would be huge? How would I eliminate the superfluous transmission of resource's payload to client and back to the originating server? Here is an illustration. I have a resource: /videos/my_videos/2-gigabyte-video.avi and I want copy it into a new resource: /videos/johns_videos/copied-2-gigabyte-video.avi How would I implement the copy, move or other file system actions the RESTful way? Or is there even a proper way? Am I doing it all wrong?

  • TXT file not showing properly in Android

    I developed an app for Android, that loads some data from some .txt files I created. Until now, everything went fine. Today I updated these texts to add some stuff, and now Android comes out with this error in the LogCat: 06-06 23:16:03.925: W/System.err(7999): java.lang.NumberFormatException: Invalid int: "?72" It never happened before. If I read the txt from my computer, I can see that all seems in the right place. But if I read it from the Android editor, I see strange symbols (close to that 72). I don't know how to remove them, because I cannot see them on the pc!
