  • NSURLConnection still calls delegate AFTER cancel method has been called

    Hi All, Having a problem with NSURLConnection, if I create a NSURLConnection and call [connection connectionWithRequest] let it load a little then call [connection cancel] most of the time that works fine. However occasionally even after I call [connection cancel] the connection's delegate still gets called (which crashes the app). Googling around it looks like the problem here is a race condition in the runloop, I cancel the connection and release the delegate but before the runloop cycles it calls the delegate functions - crash. Is there a way for me to, after I call [connection cancel] confirm the connection has actually canceled? Even a crappy while() loop will do :(

  • UITableView resizing rows problem

    Hi All, Hope to get solution to this problem. I have been stuck on it since a long time now. I have a a tableView which has custom labels drawn upon the cell using CGRect. I receive the data from a web service in arrays. Initially i display a line of data on the cells. When the user selects a cell, I call reloadsRowAtIndexPath to increase the height of selected row. In the process, cellForRowAtIndexPath gets called again. I keep track of this by a flag, and when cellForRowAtIndexPath gets called again, I display the two more lines of data from arrays, on the cell. What i am getting is all overlapping data on one other. I tried to remove already placed labels in didSelectRowAtIndexPath, but to no avail. Please help me on this Thanks in advance.

The view isn't huge but it has a few other UIImageViews as subviews and it might be related to memory, but I can't find anything on this message. Any ideas?

  • UITableView titleForHeaderInSection prints headers to console twice then crashes

    In the method below titleForHeaderInSection, for some reason the NSLog prints out the headers twice and then the app crashes in objc_msgSend. I can't understand why this would cause the app to crash? It would seem from research that crashes in objc_msgSend are caused by sending messages to already freed objects, but is that the case here?   • Stop All Started Services on App Close / Exit

    Is it possible to stop all started services when the user hits the Home Button? I use: startService(new Intent(ClassName.this, ClassName2.class)); stopService(new Intent(ClassName.this, ClassName2.class)); This means I will have to somehow add the 'stopService()' for 7+ of my app classes I've researched this topic and I think there's 'onTerminate' but still not sure how this should be implemented.     Regarding the SMS compose view as show in the picture below: I have two questions: 1) How is the text entry box implemented? There are no standard control from the API and the box is smart enough to resize when you press enter OR when the text is too long. Also the bar resizes with it. How is this done with the least coding? 2) How to code it such that when the keyboard shows up the whole view shifts up? Typically when the keyboard shows, it goes over your current view.

  • passing user from UITableView to UIWebView based on selection

    Hello, I'm trying to pass the user on to the interface based on their cell selection in the UITableView, ie, if the user selects cell 1, they are taken to view model 2, containing UIWebView. UIWebView then displays local file, cell1.html. Currently, I've manage to get placeholder using: selectedCellText.text = selectedCell; to display the name of the cell selected. How do I get it to directly pass to the UIWebView, stick UIWebView in the interface and link it using: UIWebView *myWebView = [[UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; NSBundle *mainBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *stringUrl = [mainBundle pathForResource:@"selectedCell" ofType:@"html"]; NSURL *baseUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:stringUrl]; NSURLRequest *urlRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:baseUrl]; [myWebView loadRequest:urlRequest]; My other issue is that some of the cell names have spaces in them, and for simplicity, I'd like to ensure that there are no spaces (actually, will it even work with spaces in the name, I assume with %20 ?   • Testing MPMoviePlayerViewController in iPad simulator

    I have a view that shows a MPMoviePlayerViewController modally. When testing it in the iPad simulator it works well on the first try. If I dismiss the video and then show the view again, the player only plays the audio, but not the video. Is this a simulator quirk or am I doing something wrong?   • Problem with DWR and Android-Browser

    Hello everyone, I am experiencing a problem with accessing an application from the Android-browser. The application uses DWR to persist connections to the clients that are connected with it. Everything works fine for me, except that if the application does not send any data to the client on the Android-phone for 2 minutes, the connection seems to be lost and no data arrive at the client. The same scenario works just fine on Firefox, Opera and Chrome. If the pause between two data transfers is less than 2 minutes, it works just fine. So, now my question: Is there some timeout setting for the android browser that I am missing? Or is this some built-in bug/feature/whatever that I cannot circumvent? I know that I could prevent this from happening with some sort of heartbeat, I would just like to why this is happening. Thanks in advance, Max btw: Everything (server, clients) runs on my machine and I am testing this on the android emulator with Windows XP Android emulator version 1.10 (build_id CUPCAKE-150240)

  • Need help with creating complex UITableView items (like the Settings app).

    I hoping to create a custom Settings view, similar to the Settings application, but with more control over the UI and access to some settings (i need to lock some of the settings). Obvously, there are a variety of UI elements mixed in each row of application's UITableView. For example, the 'Airplane Mode' setting shows a UISwitch, while the 'Wi-Fi' setting has a text value adjacent to the disclosure symbol (''). Further complicating matters, is the grouping of these settings. I have some general questions about the approach I should take: Seems like i need to save the name of the setting, its current value, its grouping, and the type of UI element(s) needed to modify its value. i would like to make use [NSUserDefault standardUserDefaults], but not have these settings appear in the Settings application. I'm guessing that I will need to create my own settings-persistence class. is it better to build each one of these complex UI-element combinations in code or to create a series of custom views based on the UITableViewCell and load the appropriate one? i'm guessing the latter. some of the setting require that i load another view to select its value. assuming that the application is based on the Utility pattern, should the SettingsView manage the navigation stack, rather than having the app delegate do so?   • Install multiple iPhone apps at once from Xcode to device

    Supposing we have an Xcode iPhone project with 2 targets, is it possible to build and install both of them on the device with one click? Of course, I understand we will not be able to "build and run" both, but can we at least install them? And to extend this concept a bit a bit: are there any scripts to achieve the same thing but with multiple iPhone projects instead of multiple targets in one project? This would be useful when you want to load all your apps on a new development device and don't want to go through all your projects one by one and install.
