• Getting ssh to execute a command in the background on target machine

  This is a follow-on question to the How do you use ssh in a shell script? question. If I want to execute a command on the remote machine that runs in the background on that machine, how do I get the ssh command to return? When I try to just include the ampersand (&) at the end of the command it just hangs. The exact form of the command looks like this: ssh user@target "cd /some/directory; program-to-execute &" Any ideas? One thing to note is that logins to the the target machine always produce a text banner and I have ssh keys set up so no password is required.

• Git append the current commit hash to result of a commit command

  I want to append the hash of the ongoing commit to its result. I can retrieve the hash using this command: git log --format=%H | tail -1 Then I try to merge a commit with command above and make an alias in '.gitconfig', like this: [alias] ci = !git commit && git log --format=%H | tail -1 But this does not work; parameters of alias are send to tail command, not git commit. How should I create this alias?

I'm creating a model instance (using MVVM pattern) in the code behind file in the constructor of page as MainViewModel model = new MainViewModel(); I have a button in HomePage.xaml which I want to bind to the command inside MainViewModel called GetData() and want to populate the data in datagrid. MainViewModel has an ObservableCollection which I would use to bind the data in datagrid. Populating the data in datagrid without binding command works fine. I'm binding the button as: <StackPanel x:Name="stkPanelInput" Orientation="Horizontal" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center"> <Button x:Name="buttonGetData" Width="70" Content="GetData" Command="{Binding GetData}" Click="buttonGetData_Click"/> </StackPanel> How shall I bind the command using MVVM? This is very strange. And then it is copying 'i' into 'eax' and doing things that are beyond me. I have heard that the compiler implements some jump table for switch..case. Is it what this code is doing? Or what is it doing and why? Because in case of less number of cases, the code is pretty similar to that generated for if...else ladder, but when number of cases increases, this unusual-looking implementation is seen.   My Nutch directory lies in /home/myserv/nutch/nutch-1.0/ My php applictaion is in the diretcory /home/myserv/www/ Theres a a php file in my /home/myserv/www/ diretcory that runs a exec command to run a nutch command.PHP code is like : $output = exec("bin/nutch all"); When I run the command from the command line I need to be in the "/home/myserv/nutch/nutch-1.0/" directory When i'm trying to run it through the php exec() ,I just can seems to make it execute.   How is it possible to execute a direct SQL command to an ADO.NET connected database? I want to send a DBCC SHRINKDATABASE to the SQL server, to compress the current datafile after a big deletion process. The function ObjectContext::CreateQuery returns a parser error after the DBCC command. Is there any other way to shrink the database file, or another way to send the SQL command directly to the SQL Server?

  I'm attempting to use the Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R command within Visual Studio 2008 to rename a variable. I get an error message at the bottom saying that "The key combination (Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R) is bound to command (&Rename...) which is not currently available." I am not running it or anything I can think of which might prohibit modifications of the file and the F2 command allows a rename to happen. Anyone know how to fix this?

  I'm pretty experienced with Perl and Ruby but new to Python so I'm hoping someone can show me the Pythonic way to accomplish the following task. I want to compare several lines against multiple regular expressions and retrieve the matching group. In Ruby it would be something like this: STDIN.each_line do |line| case line when /^A:(.*?)$/ then puts "FOO: #{$1}" when /^B:(.*?)$/ then puts "BAR: #{$1}" # when ... else puts "NO MATCH: #{line}" end end My attempts in Python are turning out pretty ugly because the matching group is returned from a call to match/search on a regular expression and Python has no assignment in conditionals or switch statements. What's the Pythonic way to do (or think!) about this problem?

• WPF : Command routing for Keyboard shortcuts.

  Basically I want to create a keyboard shortcut which is valid within the scope of a window, and not just enabled when focus is within the control that binds it. in more detail.... I have a window which has 3 controls a toolbar textbox Custom Control The toolbar has a button bound to the Command CustomCommands.CmdA and linked to 'Ctrl-T'. My Custom Control can process CmdA. When I run the app and click on my custom control CmdA is enabled and works fine. Also Ctrl-T cause the command to fire. However when I select the text box, my custom command CmdA becomes disabled. I can rectify this by setting the command target for CmdA's button. Now when I select the textBox, CmdA is still enabled. But the Keyboard shortcut Ctrl-T does nothing. Is there any easy way to change the scope of keyboard shortcuts? Or do I need to catch the keypress somewhere lower down, and work out which Command it relates to and route it myself (if so is there a framework within which to do this?) Many Thanks Simon

It knows the interface and all 3 implementations. I want some way of letting the class user say in which harvester it wants to use. And in the code select that implementation, without a switch-case implementation. Can reflection save my day?   I am reading a text file which contains numbers in the range [1, 10^100]. I am then performing a sequence of arithmetic operations on each number. I would like to use a BigInteger only if the number is out of the int/long range. One approach would be to count how many digits there are in the string and switch to BigInteger if there are too many. Otherwise I'd just use primitive arithmetic as it is faster. Is there a better way? Is there any reason why Java could not do this automatically i.e. switch to BigInteger if an int was too small? This way we would not have to worry about overflows.

  I usually work with BASH, but I'm trying to setup a cronjob from a machine and user account that is configured with zsh. When the cronjob runs, the date variable does not contain the date, just the string for the command to return the date. DATE=$(date +%Y%m%d) 55 15 * * 1-5 scp user@host:/path/to/some/file/$DATE.log /tmp I've tried using backticks rather than $() around the command, but that did not work either. Is there a special way to do command substitution in zsh?
