• Apache ErrorDocument not working for PHP 500 error

  I have a number of ErrorDocuments setup in my .htaccess file for errors such as 404, 401, 403 etc which all redirect to my error page but the ErrorDocument set for a 500 error is never displayed when PHP reports a 500. The 500 code is sent to the browser and the output is blank. Is there something special I need to do to enable 500 error documents for use with PHP? My directives look like this: ErrorDocument 401 /errorpage.php?error=401 ErrorDocument 403 /errorpage.php?error=403 ErrorDocument 404 /errorpage.php?error=404 ErrorDocument 500 /errorpage.php?error=500 I've looked through the php.ini and can't see anything that would obviously override the Apache settings and there are no ErrorDocument directives in my httpd.conf either. Anywhere else I should be looking? Thanks in advance.

• Tomcat - Redirect to Error Page when ServletContextListener fails

  When Tomcat starts it calls my ServletContextListener to obtain a database connection, which I will later use in other servlets with getServletContext(). It is called in my web.xml as: listener listener-class org.ppdc.database.DBCPoolingListener /listener-class /listener (I removed the < because they wouldn't display properly in this message. If I cannot connect to the database when Tomcat starts up I get a 404 error, because Tomcat cannot start the application. How can I redirect the user to a custom error page at this point? I tried the following in my web.xml (I have the < brackets in the original): (error-page) (error-code404/error-code) (location/file_not_found.html/location) (/error-page) Any ideas on how to redirect a user to one of my error pages when Tomcat tries to start the application? • How to properly use CoreData validation & error framework ?

  I've created a model in Xcode, and for various attributes I have minimum & maximum values defined and that are enforced by coreData at runtime. I'm using NSManagedObject validateValue:forKey:error to check for user input values. I was a bit disappointed to see that the localized error message is not specific, and I get a "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 1620)" for too small values and a "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 1610)" for too large values. It's written in the coreData documentation that "you can localize most aspects of a managed object model, including entity and property names and error messages". Unfortunately it's not very detailed on how you implement it for error messages. So How do you customize error message ? How do you localize them ? Is it possible to customize it in a way where it will mentioned the reference value ex: "Value should be lower than %@" or "Value should be higher than %@" ?

• I have been told to accept one error with Memtest86+

  Bought a new computer back in August with 4x4 GB RAM. Had problems with the RAM. They sent me four new sticks, which also generated errors. Singled out four sticks (from the eight I now had) that didn't generate any errors. Discovered by coincident a new RAM error last week (this time no BSOD). Contacted the company. According to them there have been issues with a bad stock from last summer so I got two tested 8 GB sticks sent to me. Been running Memtest86+ over the weekend. After 20 hours I got an error (see attached photo). The test has now been running for 37 hours but so far only this one error. I contacted the company where I bought the computer. They wrote back: I wouldn't worry about hat one fail. We have had similar situations here whereby it passes numerous times but then fails once. We think it's an issue with memtest, after all memory is faulty or it isn't so you can't really have it pass a few times, fail the next time around and then pass again! Please trust me on this and continue with the memory we sent you and if your problems continue we'll look at getting it replaced again. I gather from other forum posts that many people do not accept a single error. What could this single error signify, faulty RAM or a glitch in the MEMTEST program (or other)? Update: From the helpful comments below I conclude that an occasional (and rare) "random" error could occur and be acceptable, but repeated errors at the same address would indicate malfunction. Memtest has now run for 45 hours and I still have only one error. For everyone's information, I will keep running the test. In less than two days I am going away for a month. I will most likely leave Memtest running. As I do not have a UPS there is a risk that a power outage will ruin the experiment. The computer is a desktop so I cannot bring it with me (which would curiously have exposed it to more cosmic rays as I will be flying ;)).

• Error whenever a java applet is loaded

  Hi. For the past few months or so, I've been getting an error whenever I attempt to use a java applet. I'm getting this error on every browser I use, and I get the error occasionally in linux, too. The java applet loads for roughly 5 seconds or so, then it stops and I get two error messages, stating that an exception occurred (java.io.EOFException). This seems to happen regardless of what website I'm using. Going to the website shows I'm running java 6 update 20, and I get no error. Googling the error turns up nothing useful - I'm not a java developer, so most of the results don't apply to me at all. My question is this. What's causing this error, and what can I do to fix whatever issue is causing it?

• How to export SQL Server data from corrupted database (with disk write error)

  IT realised there was a disk write error on our production SQL Server 2005 and hence was causing the backups to fail. By the time they had realised this the nightly backup was old, so were not able to just restore the backup on another server. The database is still running and being used constantly. However DBCC CheckDB fails. Also the SQL Server backup task fails, Copy Database fails, Export Data Wizard fails. However it seems all the data can be read from the tables (i.e using bcp etc) Another observation I have made is that the Transaction Log is nearly double the size of the Database. (Does that mean all the changes arent being written to the MDF?) What would be the best plan of attack to get the database to a state where backups are working and the data is safe? Take the database offline and use the MDF/LDF to somehow create the database on another sql server? Export the data from the database using bcp. Create the database (use the Generate Scripts function on the corrupt db to create the schema on the new db) on another sql server and use bcp again to import the data. Some other option that is the right course of action in this situation? The IT manager says the data is safe as if the server fails, the data can be restored from the mdf/ldf. I'm not sure so insisted that we start exporting the data each night as a failsafe (using bcp for example). IT are also having issues on the hardware side of things as supposedly the disk error in on a virtualized disk and can't be rebuilt like a normal raid array (or something like that). Please excuse my use of incorrect terminology and incorrect assumptions on how Sql Server operates. I'm the application developer and have been called to help (as it seems IT know less about SQL Server than I do). (see the corresponding Event Log entry below). Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date: 5/18/2010 Time: 7:41:16 PM User: N/A Computer: DKHA-IPSA Description: Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.5512, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x0004eaa9. Shortly after this error pops up, the computer pretty much grinds to a halt (e.g. some UI elements on the desktop simply do not respond). And I have to do a hard reboot. How do I troubleshoot this type of thing? P.S. The PC has all the latest patches and nothing is missing in the Device Manager.

• Can't get PHP Errors in IIS7.5

  I've tried the previously answered questions regarding this to no avail. Just installed PHP5 and IIS on my Windows 7 machine and I'm having trouble getting PHP Errors displayed instead of 500 Errors. In PHP; error_reporting = E_ALL display_errors = On In IIS I have htmlErrors set to Detailed which shows a detailed IIS 500 Error page. If set to Custom it shows a basic 500 Error page. If I set it to PassThrough I get a blank page (view-source reveals no code). My PHP log file is showing a Fatal PHP Runtime Error.

• IIS 8 Random 503 service unavailable

  We migrated a busy website to Windows Server 2012 with IIS 8. The website randomly gives the error "503 service unavailable" after an user presses F5 the error is gone again. The website is build in ASP.NET MVC 3. The website runs on one application pool, with default settings There are around 500 to 900 concurrent users on the website during the day, and the error happens more often when there are more 650 users. The CPU and the memory use on the server is stable. There is nothing about the 503 errors in the application log, the IIS log and the event log. Does anyone has any clue what the problem can be or how we can trace the the problem?

  Google Chrome stopped working for me today. When I launch Chrome, I see the following error: Windows - Application Error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application. It fails to load the New Tab Page. After a moment, I see the following error: Google Chrome The following page(s) have become unresponsive.   I often get a "premature end of script headers" error in my apache log which results to an internal 500 error. I understand what the error message means - that my application did not give the browser the headers it needs (and maybe nothing at all), but the odd thing is that this does not happen all the time. It actually usually happens the first few times I go to my website after a deploy. Could this be a memory issue? Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this? My apache log isn't really telling me anything. I am running a ruby site using the rails framework on ubuntu hardy. thank you!

• Initiate a PHP class where class name is a variable

  I need some help with an error I have not encountered before and can't seem to find anywhere. In a PHP mvc framework (just from a tutorial) I have the following: // Initiate the class $className = 'Controller_' . ucfirst($controller); if (class_exists($className)) { $controller = new $className($this->registry); } $className is showing the correct class name (case is also correct). But when I run it I get this in the apache error log (no php error) [Wed Mar 31 10:34:12 2010] [notice] child pid 987 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Process id is different on every call. I am running PHP 5.3.0 on os x 10.6. This site seems to work on 5.2.11 on another Mac. Not really sure where to go next to debug it. I guess it could be an apache setting as much as a php bug or a problem with the code... any suggestions on where to look next?

• Windows Login Failure

  I'm getting an error in the Event Viewer, which is also generating a lot of Logon Failure messages on our syslog server. Pretty much stuck on how to resolve. EventID: 536 Logon Type: 3 Reason: The NetLogon component is not active This is for a Windows Server 2003 system. I have checked here We're using Shavlik Protect 9 to scan and deploy patches. Shavlik stores the credentials for the systems and uses those stored credentials to deploy patches. This system is able to scan and deploy to other systems on the network using those credentials and no errors are generated. When installing to the local system that Shavlik is physically on then this error is generated. Whats interesting is that it doesn't generate during a scan, and the patches install fine. We've contacted Shavlik to get the response that they are unable to help since it's a Microsoft error. Has anyone seen this?

• Include page url in php error_log

  I'm working on sorting out all my php errors. I've just setup so that all errors go into one log so I can view them. The problem is that I can't really see what page someone trying to access that gave them an error. Of course I can see the file where the error was generated, but these are often includes used on other pages - so I can't really see what URL a person was attempting to view when this error was displayed, so I can't really replicate the problem. Any suggestions? Is it possible to include the actual page URL?
