• MVC: On partial page start validation from JS without postback

  How do I start validation from the client/javascript using the MS MVC Validation library? Using MS ASP.Net MVC, I have a page with a PartialView in a modal dialog (change password). When the user selects 'save', I need to validate this on the client side without a full page postback. I am able in JS to post and refresh the partialView, however I am unable to start client validation. The MS MVC validation starts on postback (Input type='submit'). How can I start this in JS? • Windows Server 2008 network speed slow, Xen 3.4.3 HVM ISO

  I've setup a VM running Windows Server 2008 on a host node running Xen 3.4.3-5 and the following kernel: 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Mar 7 05:38:01 EST 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux The network speed on the VM is very slow--using the online speed tests I can only get it up to 8-9mbps. The line is 100mbps burstable and the host node has no problem achieving those speeds. If it setup a VM running CentOS, it too has no problems achieving those speeds. I've done some pretty exhaustive troubleshooting, but nothing has helped: New VM installations of Win2k8 do have the same network problem. Upgrading to most recent kernel-xen did not help (2.6.18-308.1.1.el5xen). Upgrading from xen 3.4.0 to xen 3.4.3-5 did not help. Disabling Windows firewall, etc did not help. Changing network card device config from auto negotiation to manually be 100mbps full duplex did not help. Changing the network receive buffer packet size did not help (tried all combos from 64k to 8k). At this point I'm pretty much out of ideas--any help would be appreciated!

• C# ASPNET MVC - How do you use ModelState.IsValid in a jquery/ajax postback?

  From what I've seen ModelState.IsValid is only calculated by the MVC frame work on a full postback, is that true? I have a jquery postback like so: var url = "/path/to/controller/myaction"; var id = $("#Id").val(); var somedata = $("#somedata").val(); // repeated for every textbox $.post(url, { id: id, somedata: somedata }, function (data) { // etc }); And the controller action looks like: public JsonResult MyAction(MyModel modelInstance) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { // ... ModelState.IsValid is always true, even when there is invalid data } } But this does not seem to trigger ModelState.IsValid. For example if somedata is 5 characters long, but the DataAnnotation says [StringLength(3)] - in this case ModelStae.IsValid is still true, because it hasn't been triggered. Is there something special I need to do when making a jquery/ajax post instead of a full post? Thanks!

• SQL CLR not properly enabling

  We have a SQL server running SQL 2005 Workgroup 64 bit (9.0.4273), on Windows 2003 server 64 bit. We have run sp_configure and reconfigured the server which indicates that the clr is now enabled. exec sp_configure 'clr enabled', '1' go reconfigure go However, when trying to call CREATE ASSEMBLY the server completely dies on us and we have to do a full reboot of the machine. A little more diagnostic information, even though clr enabled is set to 1 and we have rebooted the full server, running the following statement select * from sys.dm_clr_properties returns directory version state locked CLR version with mscoree which is what it says when the CLR is not enabled on another machine. On a correctly enabled machine (after reboot) this function reads directory C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\ version v2.0.50727 state CLR is initialized

  I've recently become a little frustrated with Django as a whole. It seems like I can't get full control over anything. I love Python to death, but I want to be able (and free) to do something as simple as adding a css class to an auto-generated form. One MVC framework that I have really been enjoying working with is Grails (groovy). It has a FANTASTIC templating system and it lets you really have full control as you'd like.   I have enabled query caching to use the NHibernate.Caches.Prevalence.PrevalenceCacheProvider provider. This is running on IIS 7, WCF service. I have limited rights to what I can do, but I'm getting an exception about releasing cache locks. I've created the following 2 directories in the system32/inetsrv directory and given full control to the account IIS is using. NHibernate.Cache.StandardQueryCache Some other cache dir I can think of right now This doesn't happen in my local environment so I'm thinking this is somehow related to caching. Do I need to give the IIS account full control to the inetsrv dir as well?

• Dynamically add files to visual studio deployment project.

  I've been desperately looking for the answer to this and I feel I'm missing something obvious. I need to copy a folder full of data files into the TARGETDIR of my deployment project at compile time. I can see how I would add individual files (ie. right click in File System and go to Add-File) but I have a folder full of data files which constantly get added to. I'd prefer not to have to add the new files each time I compile. I have tried using a PreBuildEvent to copy the files: copy $(ProjectDir)..\Data*.* $(TargetDir)Data\ which fails with error code 1 when I build. I can't help but feel I'm missing the point here though. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Graeme

I was given a solution but, AFAICS, it only takes into account orientation and position but NOT scaling : node_new_local_position = node_parent.derivedOrientation().Inverse() * ( world_position_to_match - node_parent.derivedPosition() ); The node in question is a child of node_parent; node_parent local and derived properties (orientation, position and scaling) are known, as well as its full matrix transform. All the positions are 3d vectors; the orientation is a quaternion; the full transform is a 4x4 matrix. Could someone please help me to modify the solution to support scaling in the node hierarchy?   I am trying to do a search with some criteria FullTextQuery fullTextQuery = fullTextSession.createFullTextQuery(finalQuery, KnowledgeBaseSolution.class).setCriteriaQuery(criteria); and then page it //Gives me around 700 results result.setResultCount(fullTextQuery.getResultSize()); //Some pages are empty fullTextQuery.setFirstResult(( (pageNumber - 1) * pageSize )); fullTextQuery.setMaxResults( pageSize ); result.setResults(fullTextQuery.list()); I suspect Lucene return full result of the full text search without taking the criteria into account and then hibernate search applies the criteria after, therefore some page are empty (after filtering by criteria) What is proper way to do fullTextSearch with some criteria, is it possible to apply the criteria before the lucene search? Or do I have to use pure Lucene (if so what's the point of Hibernate Search?) Thanks in advance

• SSIS DTS Package flat file error - "The file name specified in the connection was not valid"

  I have a pretty basic SSIS package that is attempting to read a file hosted on a share, and import its contents to a database table. The package runs fine when I run it manually within SSIS. However, when I set up a SQL Agent job and attempt to execute it, I get the following error: Executed as user: DOMAIN\UserName. End Error Error: 2010-05-03 10:14:17.75 Code: 0xC001401D Source: DataAnimalImport Description: Connection "Data File Local" failed validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 10:14:17 AM Finished: 10:14:17 AM Elapsed: 0.594 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed. This leads me to believe it's a permissions issue, but every attempt I've made to fix it has failed. What I've tried so far: Run as the SQL Agent account (DOMAIN\SqlAgent) - yields same error. DOMAIN\SqlAgent has "Full Control" permissions on both the share and the uploaded file. Set up a proxy account with a different account's credentials (DOMAIN\Account) - yields same error. Like above, "Full Control" permissions were given over the share to that account. Gave "Everyone" full control permissions over the share (temporarily!). Yielded same error. Manually copied the file to a local path and tested with the SQL Agent account. Worked properly. Added an ActiveX script task that would first copy the remotely hosted file to a local path, and then have the DTS package reference the local file. Gave a completely nondescriptive (even by SSIS standards) error when trying to run the script. Set up a proxy account, using my own personal account's credentials - worked correctly. However, this is not an acceptable solution as there are password policies in place on my account, as well as being a bad practice to set things up this way in general. Any ideas? I'm still convinced it's a permissions issue. However, what I've read from various searches more or less says giving the executing account permissions on the share should work. However, this is not the case here (unless I'm missing something obscure when I'm setting up permissions on the share).

• Can I have 2Gbit over 1Gbit Nics

  So this really baffles me. Apparently because 1Gbit can transmit data in both directions simultaneously it should be possible to get 2Gbit of data transfer on a single NIC (1Gbit flow seend and 1Gbit receive). People claim that because 1Gbit is full-duplex (almost always) it is exactly 2Gbit in total. My intuition and electrical background tells me that something is not right here 4 twisted pairs 250Mbit capacity each gives 1Gbit. Unless it is really possible to transfer data in both directions simultaneously. I did a test with iperf. Ubuntu server 12.04 <-- MacBook Pro. Both with decent CPU speed. Tested speed of connection individually and on Mac I can see 112MB/s regardless which direction data is going. On Ubuntu with vnstat and ifstat I got 970Mbit speeds. Now, launching iperf in server mode on both machines at the same time and sending data using 2 iperf clients shows that I'm for example on Ubuntu box sending at 600Mbit, and receiving 350Mbit. which adds up to pretty much 1Gbit link. So to me there is no magical 2Gbit. Can someone confirm that or tell why I'm wrong? Another thing that confuses me i the fact that e.g. 24-port switch has for example: Throughput»up»to:»50.6Mpps Switching»capacity:»68Gbps Switch»fabric»speed:»88Gbps Which would suggest thay can handle 2GBit per port.

  I have a GridView, inside a UserControl, inside an UpdatePanel on a page. There's a button in the GridView which needs to fire a postback. What happens is: User clicks button - RowCommand Fires - Custom event is raised on UserControl - Page detects this and changes the active view index for a multiview and also the page title and some other controls outside the UpdatePanel. The problem is, the page posts back asyncchronously, the page title changes, but the actions requireing a full postback don't happen because a full postback doesn't occur.   I have several 3750X Cisco switches that, according to our Solarwinds NPM, are producing billions of transmit discards per day. I'm not sure why it's reporting these discards.   I'm maintaining a Windows CE app built with the .NET Framework that has about 45 forms. There are 5 'sections' which lead to the function you want. The application is 100% full screen and it is important that it can't be minimized. Since there are so many forms, it's difficult to keep track of which form should be displayed after one is closed. For this, I'm setting the form owner property before showing it, and showing the owner when closing it. I've also been advised that it is best to instantiate all forms when the application loads, and not dispose them to save processing time. I'm not sure about this. My question is, what is the best way to go about showing, hiding forms where you want any 1 form to be in front, full screen all time?

  Hi, I want to generate a custom report in "Nagios-3.2.0". I have defined the work-hours in "timeperiods.cfg" as follows: 'workhours' timeperiod definition define timeperiod { timeperiod_name 0800-2000 alias full time monday 08:00-20:00 tuesday 08:00-20:00 wednesday 08:00-20:00 thursday 08:00-20:00 friday 08:00-20:00 saturday 08:00-20:00 } Now, if I replace "saturday" with "2010-03-27" or "march 27" as shown below: 'workhours' timeperiod definition define timeperiod { timeperiod_name 0800-2000 alias full time monday 08:00-20:00 tuesday 08:00-20:00 wednesday 08:00-20:00 thursday 08:00-20:00 friday 08:00-20:00 2010-03-27 08:00-20:00 } Nagios is not generating report for the given date (2010-03-27). How can I modify "timeperiods.cfg" so that I can generate reports for the given dates ?

• Why is Magento 1.4 including javascript files by filesystem path?

  I am in the process of testing a Magento 1.3 site using Magento 1.4. I am seeing very weird and inconsistent behavior. Instead of including the URL of my javascript files, Magento is creating tags with the full filesystem path of the js files, as so: <script type="text/javascript" src="/home/my_username/public_html/js/prototype/prototype.js"></script> I believe this is related to the new "Themes JavaScript and CSS files combined to one file" function. In fact, when I log into the admin and click "Flush JavaScript/CSS Cache", then the first page load is successful, and I see a single JS include similar to: <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/js/5b8cfac152fcb2a5f93ef9571d338c54.js"></script> But subsequent age loads load every single JS file, with the full path names. Which obviously isn't going to work. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong or how to fix this issue?
