• MPMoviePlayerController fullscreen quirk in iPad

  I want to show a MPMoviePlayerController in a view controller and let the user toggle full screen with the default controls, like the YouTube app. I'm using the following code in a bare-bones example: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] init]; self.player.contentURL = theURL; self.player.view.frame = self.viewForMovie.bounds; self.player.view.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight; [self.viewForMovie addSubview:player.view]; [self.player play]; } This works well until the user makes the video full screen, rotates the device and taps on the screen. I've only added the viewDidLoad above, the view variables and an UIView in the XIB to show the movie player. What am I doing wrong?

• Howto I get the user domain\username and Display name From SharePoint People Picker InternalId?

  I have been trying to user sharepoint designer to retrieve the user's full name and even the domain\username from the people pucker field but the problem is I tend to get numbers. It looks like the intetrnal Id. In my case I am getting 14 instead of domain\username from the list form's field. Any idea on where I can get the dmain\username or even better the full name? Thanks !! I am using SharePoint Designer and Windows Sharepoint Services 3/SharePoint 2007. Update : I have managed to get the domain\username now. I just had to change the people picker's show field to ID. However now I am getting a weird prefix on my domain\username. I am getting this -1;#domain\username instead of just domain\username. Anybody know how I can overcome this? Thanks !!

  I have a Cisco 891W NATing Voice and Data to the internet over a 10mbit/2mbit connection. Voice traffic gets degraded when I upload large files. Pings time out as well. I tried to configure a QoS policy but it's basically not doing anything. Voice traffic still degrades when upload bandwidth gets saturated. • Android drawCircle's are not always 360 degrees

  When I call drawCircle (ex. canvas.drawCircle(x, y, r, mPaint);) and I use Paint Style STROKE to initialize param #4 mPaint, the result doesn't quite make a full 360 degree (2*PI radian) circle in all cases. Sometimes you get a full circle (as I would expect) and sometimes only an arc. Does someone have an idea what would cause this to happen? I don't know what cases work and which don't (yet). I've noticed the ones that don't work seem to be the larger circles I'm drawing (100.0 radius). Could be size related. I am using floating point for x, y and r. I could try rounding to the nearest int when in the drawing code.

  Hello. I am trying to push an app to heroku and I am getting the error detailed here. So I am trying to determine the corrupt objects using git fsck -full but it isn't returning anything. Nothing happens: Ryan@Ryan-PC ~ $ git fsck --full Ryan@Ryan-PC But I get the object error when I try to push the object to heroku. Is there anyway I can go about repairing the corrupt repository, or can I just delete it and start over? How do I go about doing this?

• Home Networking Questions

  Hello: I'm looking to wire my home with CAT-X (where X is probably going to be CAT-6, unless someone can convince me differently. ;) ). I'm seeking advice on what equipment I'll need for the job, and any things I should watch out for. It's a two story half-duplex I'll be wiring, roughly about 1800 sq ft. Here's what I believe I need so far: Bulk CAT-6 Ethernet cabling CM Rated Gigabit switch(es?) Patch panel Equipment for cutting, terminating wire, fishing through walls, etc Wall outlet covers, etc. Questions I have: Does it matter the MHz rating on the Ethernet cable? If so, why? I have two gigabit switches currently, an 8-port and a 5-port. Should I buy one massive switch to cover all the connections I need, or should I just chain the two together and buy a switch for however many other connections I need? Do I really need a patch panel? I understand it keeps the cables looking cleaner than coming out of a hole in the wall, but is there some other product I can use, perhaps combining a switch with a patch panel or some such? Ideally I'll have all this running out of a relatively small closet, so the less components (or smaller) the better. Any advice, links, or suggested product to use/avoid would be appreciated!

• UIScrollview doesnt resize in NavigationController when rotated

  Hey, I have been dealing with this issue for 2 days now, not able to find a solution. I have a navigationcontroller as a root view controller. This one pushes a UIViewcontroller which in turn has a UIScrollview I created with IB. Additionally there is the Navigation bar. My problem arises, when I rotate the IPhone to Landscape mode. In -(void) didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation I want my scrollview to take up the full width (480 px) which it doesnt. I am able to set the frame of the navigation bar to full width perfectly fine, but not the scrollview. I have read that this might be because of the autoresizing masks set in the rooviewcontroller but I have tried out a couple of solutions - none worked for me. Any ideas on how to challenge the problem? Dont know where to start looking.

I also noticed I'm getting the SEC7118 message: XMLHttpRequest for https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/qywzeXowktA?v=2&alt=json required Cross Origin Resource Sharing (CORS). That wouldn't be affecting it, would it?

• Cisco SR520w FE - WAN Port Stops Working

  I have setup a Cisco SR520W and everything appears to be working. After about 1-2 days, it looks like the WAN port stops forwarding traffic to the Internet gateway IP of the device. If I unplug and then plug in the network cable connecting the WAN port of the SR520W to my Comcast Cable Modem, traffic startings flowing again. Also, if I restart the SR520W, the traffic will flow again. Any ideas? • Facebook Application Tab URL

  I have a facebook application that can be added to fan pages as a tab. The application requires that users are authenticated in order to use it. This can be accomplished by using requirelogin=1 in a link which is visible only to users who have NOT added the application. This part works fine. However, after the user has given my application permission from the dhtml pop up that requirelogin opens, I want the tab to reload. In order to do that, I need the full URL to be included in the link as follows: <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_NAME/PAGE_ID?v=app_APP_ID" requirelogin=1>Authorize</a> I cannot figure out how to get the full url or, at least, the PAGE_NAME to build this url dynamically. Seems like the app should be able to know where it is without any special permissions.

• Cisco 891w multiple VLAN configuration

  I'm having trouble getting my guest network up. I have VLAN 1 that contains all our network resources (servers, desktops, printers, etc). I have the wireless configured to use VLAN1 but authenticate with wpa2 enterprise. The guest network I just wanted to be open or configured with a simple WPA2 personal password on it's own VLAN2. I've looked at tons of documentation and it should be working but I can't even authenticate on the guest network! I've posted this on cisco's support forum a week ago but no one has really responded. I could really use some help. So if anyone could take a look at the configurations I posted and steer me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful.   I have a Wordpress website that needs to display a 3rd party newsletter signup form. This sign-up form has lots of fields and takes up its own full page. I want to display a simple "enter email address, hit submit" form at the top of every page. When the user hits submit, it should take them to the full form, where their email address is already pre-populated in the appropriate field. What's a good way to pass the input value from the short form to the long form? I'm inclined to use the URL somehow, but I've never approached it before. (My skills: expert XHTML/CSS. competent with WP theme hacking. comfortable enough with PHP and Javascript to move things around, but not enough to write them from scratch.) Thanks!

  I have a lite version of an application that uses a SQLite database. I want to copy that database over to the full version of the application when the user installs the full version. I have written some code to perform the file copy, but the lite database file always comes up as unreadable. The file is there and I can point to it, but I can't read it to perform the copy. In the Android documentation, we read: You can save files directly on the device's internal storage. By default, files saved to the internal storage are private to your application and other applications cannot access them (nor can the user). Note the words, "by default". Is there a way that I can override that default and make the SQLite file readable by my other application? Thank you.

• External USB attached drive works in Windows XP but not in Windows 7. How to fix?

  Earlier this week I purchased this "N52300 EZQuest Pro" external hard drive enclosure from here. I can connect the enclosure using USB 2.0 and access the files in both NTFS partitions on the MBR partitioned drive when I use either Windows XP (SP3) or Mac OS X 10.6. So it works as expected in XP & Snow Leopard. However, the enclosure does not work in Windows 7 (Home Premium) either 64-bit or 32-bit or in Ubuntu 10.04 (kernel 2.6.32-23-generic). I'm thinking this must be a Windows 7 driver problem because the enclosure works in XP & Snow Leopard. I do know that no special drivers are required to use this enclosure. It is supported using the USB mass storage drivers included with XP and OS X. It should also work fine using the mass storage support in Windows 7, no? FWIW, I have also tried using 32-bit Windows 7 on both my desktop, a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 with a Pentium Dual-Core E6500 @ 2.93GHz, and on my early 2008 MacBook. I see the same failure in both cases that I see with 64-bit Windows 7. So it doesn't appear to be specific to one hardware platform. I'm hoping someone out there can help me either get the enclosure to work in Windows 7 or convince me that the enclosure hardware is bad and should be RMAed. At the moment though an RMA seems pointless since this appears to be a (Windows 7) device driver problem. I have tried to track down any updates to the mass storage drivers included with Windows 7 but have so far come up empty. Heck, I can't even figure out how to place a bug report with Microsoft since apparently the grace period for Windows 7 email support is only a few months. I came across a link to some USB troubleshooting steps in another question. I haven't had a chance to look over the suggestions on that site or try them yet. Maybe tomorrow if I have time ... ;-) I'll finish up with some more details about the problem. When I connect the enclosure using USB to Windows 7 at first it appears everything worked. Windows detects the drive and installs a driver for it. Looking in Device Manager there is an entry under the Hard Drives section with the title, Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 USB Device. When you open Windows Disk Management the first time after the enclosure has been attached the drive appears as "Not initialize" and I'm prompted to initialize it. This is bogus. After all, the drive worked fine in XP so I know it has already been initialized, partitioned, and formatted. So of course I never try to initialize it "again". (It's a 1 GB drive and I don't want to lose the data on it). Except for this first time, the drive never shows up in Disk Management again unless I uninstall the Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 USB Device entry under Hard Drives, unplug, and then replug the enclosure. If I do that then the process in the previous paragraph repeats. In Ubuntu the enclosure never shows up at all at the file system level. Below are an excerpt from kern.log and an excerpt from the result of lsusb -v after attaching the enclosure. It appears that Ubuntu at first recongnizes the enclosure and is attempting to attach it, but encounters errors which prevent it from doing so. Today I recieved a 1394b 9 pin to 1394a 6 pin cable which allowed me to connect the "EZQuest Pro" via Firewire. Everything works. • Can't connect two PCs to a Network Switch at the same time (Windows 7)

  I have two computers connected to a network switch and every once in a while one of the computers will lose its internet connection. It's almost always the same computer every time. However, if I play around with the control panel, I can switch it, so that now the other computer is not connected. Restarting either of the computers does not help either. In Windows, the worlds-greatest-trouble-shooter tells me that a network cable is unplugged and that I should try plugging it in...Disabling and re-enabling my NIC does not fix this problem, neither does swapping cables around. When rebooting, the BIOS complains about how the Ethernet Cable is not plugged in. If it's in any way important, My set up at the office is like so: Modem - Routher - Network Switch 1 - Network Switch 2. I have tried turning off the energy saving option for my NIC, and I tried manually setting the link-speed to 100Mbps Full Duplex without any luck. Also, I have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller on both computers Does anyone have any idea why this is happening every 5-10 days? EDIT: I have also tried using a completely different Network Switch and the problem still persists as before.

  Having just set up a test framework for a new web application, I realized I missed one of the big questions: "How do I make tests independent from each other?" Years ago I have set up some complicated Ant scripting to do full cycles of deleting all database tables, creating the schema again, adding test data, starting the application, running one test and then stopping the application. That was a pain to maintain and restricted us to nightly tests due to the time it took to run the full suite. It was still worth it, but I wonder if there is an easier way. Are there alternatives to this approach? The main criterion is that each test should not be affected by any other test in the suite, no matter if it failed or succeeded.

  I tried to add a second LAN addresses in CentOS 6.3 on a brand new install and it's not working. I installed a new copy of CentOS 5.7 and tried the same and it worked right away. • Cisco ASA: How to route PPPoE-assigned subnet?

  We've just received a fiber uplink, and I'm trying to configure our Cisco ASA 5505 to properly use it. The provider requires us to connect via PPPoE, and I managed to configure the ASA as a PPPoE client and establish a connection. The ASA is assigned an IP address by PPPoE, and I can ping out from the ASA to the internet, but I should have access to an entire /28 subnet. I can't figure out how to get that subnet configured on the ASA, so that I can route or NAT the available public addresses to various internal hosts. My assigned range is: 188.xx.xx.176/28 The address I get via PPPoE is 188.xx.xx.177/32, which according to our provider is our Default Gateway address. They claim the subnet is correctly routed to us on their side. How does the ASA know which range it is responsible for on the Fiber interface? How do I use the addresses from my range? To clarify my config; The ASA is currently configured to default-route to our ADSL uplink on port Ethernet0/0 (interface vlan2, nicknamed Outside). The fiber is connected to port Ethernet0/2 (interface vlan50, nicknamed Fiber) so I can configure and test it before making it the default route.
