  I have a requirement according to which I have to create a central Login system.We have 2 things Corporate and Brand each represented by tables "Corporate" and "Brand". When a corporate gets registered,corporateID is given,When a user under that corporate gets registered there is a table corporateuser in which corporateID is a foreign key and CorporateUserID is a primary key.Similarly in the case of a brand. So we have CorporateUserId and BrandUserID. Now i have a table called RegisteredUsers in which i want to have corporate as well as brand users.UserID is a primary key in this table which is a foreign key to both corporateuser as well as Branduser. now when i enter a corporateuser,I do an entry to corporateuser as well as RegisteredUsers.When i enter CorporateUserID in userID for RegisteredUsers.It gives foreign key violation error. I fully understand this error.How can i achieve this.This requirement is very rigid.Please tell a workaround

• Creating compound applications in Windows 7

  I need to port a suite of Windows applications (running under XP with little security turned on) to Windows 7 with various levels of security, depending on how our clients may configure it. Each functional area is a seperate executable or DLL that is downloaded and registered by a central 'compound' application. This means that the different parts are all joined together to form in effect a large single application. My problem is that the compound application knows about the other applications via COM registery, either as a typelibrary or as OCXs, where appropriate. I have tried several questions here to try and solve the problems I am getting, but I don't seem to be able to get around the problem of needing elevated access to register applications and access the registry. Our clients will be expecting the same (relatively) seemless download and activation process as current under XP. So does anyone have a solution for registering typelibraries and OCX controls without need to go through an elevation process. Thanks in advance

• Components inside a repeater not resizing as expected

  I have an mxml panel in which I'm using a repeater. The panel can be resized horizontally and I would like for the repeated components to resize together with panel. Here is a simplified example of how things look like: <mx:TitleWindow xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical" ...> <!-- scripts and some controls --> <mx:VBox width="100%"> <core:Repeater width="100%" dataProvider="model"> <ns1:MyItemRenderer width="100%" /> </core:Repeater> </mx:VBox> </mx:TitleWindow> When I resize the component, the width of the repeated items does not change. There also buttons and event handlers, which add and remove items from the model. When this is done, the repeater updates to display the correct number of items and all the items are resized correctly. I have not been able to get the items to resize when the root panel is resized. I can see, that the VBOx around the repeater is getting a resize event. However, the repeated items are not getting the event. I tried to dispatch a resize event to the repeated items manually from a resize handler I hooked up to the VBox but that didn't help. I also tried adding and removing a dummy-item from the ArrayCollection which is the dataProvider (because that triggers a correct resize otherwise as mentioned above) However, doing this in the resize handler of the VBox just leads to the repeater not showing any items at all. Is there any way to get items in a repeater to resize with their enclosing container?

  Hello there, so here is my problem: I have several different configuarion servers. I have different calculations (jobs), I can predict how long approx. each job will take to be caclulated. Also I have priorities. My question is how to keep all machines loaded 99-100% and shedule the jobs in the best way. Each machine can do several calculations at the time. Jobs are pushed to the machine. Central machine knows current load of each machine. Also I would like to to assign some king of machine learning here, because I will know statistics of each job (started, finished, cpu load etc.). How to distribute jobs(calculations) in the best possible way, also keep in mind priority. Any suggestions ? Ideas ? Algorithms ?

• Microsoft chart images are not loaded from MOSS server

  hi, i have webpage in which a webpart contains a Chart control. the problem is chart control is rendered perfectly when i login as central admin. but when i login as another user with contribute permisson following problems occur. when i change webconfig as --- add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=file;timeout=20;dir=c:\TempImageFiles\;"--- page is not at all loaded. i get error like YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO VIEW THIS PAGE. when i change the wbconfig as --- add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=memory;timeout=20;URL=/_layouts/Images/MicrosoftChartControls/" --- the page loads fine but image is not rendered. A red mark appears in place of image. I tried all optins got by googling.. any more suggestions/help will be welcomed

These tests are run at several sites and they get automatically backed up into a central server. ii. They already have perl scripts which post process them and generates excel based reports. iii. They need a web based interface for comparing those reports and they need to mark and track issues which might be present in those data. • Is it possible to do have Capistrano do a checkout over a reverse SSH tunnel?

  I am developing an application that resides on a public host but whose source I must keep in a Git repository behind a corporate firewall. I'm getting very tired of the slowness of deploying via scp (copying the whole repository and shipping it over SSH on each deploy) and would like to have the remote host simply do a git pull to update. The problem is that the firewall prohibits incoming SSH connections. Would it be possible for me to set up an SSH tunnel from my computer to the deployment computer and use my repository as the source for the git pull? After all, git is distributed, so my copy is just as valid a repository as the central one. If this is possible, what would the tunnel command and the Capistrano configuration be? I think the tunnel will look something like ssh -R something:deployserver.com:something [email protected]

  Hi all, There are these 2 frameworks out there in the same "cloud application" space as GWT: Sproutcore and Cappuccino. Cappuccino is Cocoa for the web, Sproutcore is Cocoa-like and one very central idea in both is Key Value Observation where the framework itself provides the glue to change all dependencies of an object when it changes, and you only have to declare those dependencies. If that was too poorly expressed please see this presentation: http://www.infoq.com/presentations/subelsky-sproutcore-intro Since the pattern reduces the amount of code you type it reduces the number of bugs. Maybe it's too much to ask but I would like to have that and all the benefits of Eclipse/compiler that come with GWT. Is there support for this in GWT, or a library already developed?   I have a local git repository a "central" repo at github. I'm working on a part of a project, while a friend is working on a related piece that is its entirely seperate repo, is it possible for me to simply link directly to my friends repo? For example, the app is called widgets. I have all my code in widgets/app/mycode and my friend is writing code that goes into widgets/plugins/awesome/hiscode. I want to be able to always have http://github.com/mycode/widgets/plugins/hiscode to be a direct link or clone to http://github.com/hiscode/awesome ? It could be possible i'm missing something basic in my question or knowledge of git, if so please ask, and i'll be happy to try to fill in the blanks. I am deploying to my production site via capistrano, so maybe a script of some kind may be easier?? I don't know (that's why i'm posting)!!

• "variable tracking" is eating my compile time!

If I inline all the functions automagically into their respective cases using my script, the build time is cut in half. GCC 4.5.0 says ~50% of the build time is being taken up by "variable tracking" when I use -ftime-report. What does this mean and how can I speed compilation while still maintaining the superior cache locality of pulling out the functions from the switch? EDIT: Interestingly enough, the build time has exploded only on debug builds, as per the following profiling information of the whole project (which isn't just the file in question, but still a good metric; the file in question takes the most time to build): Debug: 8 minutes 50 seconds Release: 4 minutes, 25 seconds

• Associating logging from two or more processes

  I have two processes that I have up and running and I am doing logging from. One is a client the other is a webservice. I want to setup a central log system where I can track logs and interactions between processes -- for instance I want to be able to associate calls made from the client to the webservice when I look at the logs. I guess this means that somehow the processid of the client process needs to flow over to the webservice in some way for it to be trackable? Is this possible with current logging frameworks such as Enterprise Library or Log4Net? Is there anyone that has looked into something like this? Any help would be appreciated. • How to define a batching routing service in WCF

  I have designed a custom silverlight wcf channel that I want to leverage to selectively batch calls from the client to the server and possibly to cache on the client and short circuit calls. So far I'm just using this channel as a transport and sending the generic WCF messages that result to the WCF router service example here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc500646.aspx?pr=blog to prototype this on the server side. So my scenario looks like this: IFooClient-MyTransportChannel-IRouterService-IFooService-Return I now need to be able to send more than one message per call through the router and carve them up and service them on the server side. Since this is just an experiment and I'm taking baby steps I will dispatch and service all the messages right away on the server side and return the batch of results. Immediately I noticed that simply making the router interface take Message[] instead of Message doesn't work due to serialization problems. I guess this makes sense. I'm not sure soap envelopes can contain other soap envelopes etc. Is there a simple way to take a collection of WCF Message objects and send them to a single method on a service where they can be split up and forwarded as appropriate? If not I'd love suggestions on how I should approach this. I want to have minimal work to do on the router service side so the goal should be to get as close to being able to "slice and forward" as possible.

For this I read that I have to modify the web.config from Central Administration and web.config from my site with the membership and roleManager tags configured properly. Problem is, if the work done in the background is suddenly insignificant for whatever reason, process() receives a huge list of objects (I have seen 1,000,000, for instance) and by the time you process each object, you have spent 20 seconds on the Event Dispatch Thread, exactly what SwingWorker was designed to avoid. In case it isn't clear, both of these occur on the same SwingWorker class for me - it depends on the input data, and the type of processing the caller wanted. Is there a proper way to handle this? Obviously I can intentionally delay or yield the background processing thread so that a smaller number might arrive each time, but this doesn't feel like the right solution to me.

• All sites give Error 500 under Sharepoint Foundation (SP2010)

  I've just installed Sharepoint Foundatuion on my W2008 64bit server and got it up and running as far as being able to access the Central Admin etc just fine. I did have to disable 32 bit apps in the application pools for all the SP sites and also, following a tip on here, add a config option for bitness64 as a prerequisite for the services. However whenever I try to access the "Sharepoint - 80" site itself (or another site collection I created in the admin tool), I am getting an unhelpful 500 error. The log doesn't add anything - I can't find anything to give me a clue as to what it's complaining about. The server is a hosted VPS and all services like SQL are running locally (and are OK). Any ideas where I look next? M
