  Can I use JavaScript to check whether JQuery is (already) downloaded (cached) on the target web browser (user) or not? For Example: If (JQuery-from-Microsoft-CDN-downloaded) Then use http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jQuery/jquery-1.4.4.js Else if (JQuery-from-Google-APIs- downloaded) Then use http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js Else if (JQuery-from-code.jquery.com- downloaded) Then use http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.4.min.js Else use jQuery from my own website. Means that using the ability of javascript to check whether one of them is downloaded on the target User (Web Browser), if not then use jQuery from my own website otherwise if true then use that version of JQuery that is downloaded on the target User.

• Django, javascript and code ruse problem

  Hi, I have some sort of a design problem with my Django AJAX application. I have a template where I initialize js variable from django context variable like so: var test = "{{ test }}"; This variable is than used in a number of js functions that are needed for interface to work properly. So now I'm trying to reuse some content from this page in another page that loads it dynamically on some user interaction using jQuery.load(..), and I don't see any way how I can initialize that variable, so js functions don't work now. Is there any solution for this or may be I'm doing it wrong? Thanks.

• Controlling a browser from Python

  I am looking for a way to control a browser from Python, i.e. fill out form fields and submit them, possibly call JS functions. I've looked around a bit, but as far as I could see PyWebKitGtk only lets you show the browser as a GUI element, not interface with it. Is there a way to do this easily? I wrote my program logic in Python, and I would hate to port it to JS. Besides that, even if I'd use pure JS "bookmarklets", those wouldn't be able to read/write to my local filesystem, would they? P.S. to quell your suspicions, I'm not trying to automatically fill out forum account creation forms or something similarly spammious, though the task is technically similar. I need to crawl/scrape sites for my research project.

• Using Components.utils.import in a firefox extension

  I am trying to create some global variables in a firefox extension. In my content folder, I have two javascript files: 1) Main JS file that holds the functions for the different events, etc 2) A file that stores only an object with the pieces of state I want to maintain. Also, I set the array EXPORTED_SYMBOLS. I am having issues with the following line found in my main JS file: Components.utils.import("resource:///globalVariables.js"); When it is at the top of the file, nothing seems to work. If I move it into the function where I need the variable, the rest of my code works, but the function with this line does nothing. Any advice that would help me with this problem would be great. • How do I make my horizontally scrolling page work in IE?

  I am using a horizontal scroll for a page on my website ~ works great in FF but not in IE, how can i get it to work in IE? But if string is defined directly in the index.html, then it is not a problem. Can anyone suggest a solution on how to keep the text in the separate .js file?

  I need to use: JSON.stringify() which should be supported by chrome, safari, and FF (I think). I think IE8 also has support for the JSON object. • Starting an ASP.NET MVC 4 project. Is it necessary to use RequireJS if I'm using bundling?

  If RequireJS makes it so that multiple js files are combined into a single main.js file, is it essentially the same as ASP.NET's script bundling functionality? Would the only bonus of using RequireJS in addition to bundling be the ability to have certain scripts be loaded according to RequireJS configuration? I'm very new to both bundling and RequireJS, but after doing some reading, it seems like bundling takes care of multiple requests to load several js files. Are there any other things I might be missing out on with regards to using RequireJS with bundling?

I am passing the data to a C# method, through an Ajax request: someObj.AjaxRequest(argsData1 + "|" + argsData2 + "|" + argsData3) Finally, I need to obtain the data in my C# code: string data1 = [JS args.Data1] string data2 = [JS args.Data2] string data3 = [JS args.Data3] My question is what's the best solution for this? As i am concatenating bits of user input, I don't think it's best to use "|" as a delimiter. Also, it's not clear to me how to actually parse the data in my C# code to populate the three variables with the original data.

• Detect EXIF Orientation of an image in javascript

  In my mobile web application, I have a need to examine the EXIF orientation tag of an image file selected using an input type=file control, and this needs to be done on the client side in javascript, before the selected image file gets uploaded to the server. I have seen several threads similar to this but most of them say to use a library called binaryajax.js to be able to access the EXIF data from the file object. Unfortunately, simply including binaryajax.js in my project causes an Access Denied error in jQuery 1.7.1, and I have no idea why this is happening. This error precludes me from using this jquery library. So I am looking for a solution that does not use this library. Another library I have tried to use is jquery.exif.js and I also get an Access Denied Error Trying to use it.

• Is putting the javascript before the closing body tag okay on an asp.net website?

  I pretty much stated what I have to ask. But is taking all of your external .js files and putting them before the closing body tag on your master pages okay on an asp.net website? I'm just going off of what yslow and google speed have been showing. I can't combine these javascripts, so I'm trying to load them "after page load", but doing so makes them useless; some of my jquery things don't work. I moved my .js files above the opening body tag, and they work. What am I doing wrong? And what could I do to load my .js files after page load? Thanks for any advice anybody can offer!

  I am trying to get the value of base_path variable in PHP (on lamp server) . I have kept the code insider beta_test directory inside www directly. i.e, base path function should return " /beta_test/ " . But it is returning just single slash ( "/" ) .   It's common to want browsers to cache resources - JavaScript, CSS, images, etc. until there is a new version available, and then ensure that the browser fetches and caches the new version instead. One solution is to embed a version number in the resource's filename, but will placing the resources to be managed in this way in a directory with a revision number in it do the same thing? Is the whole URL to the file used as a key in the browser's cache, or is it just the filename itself and some meta-data? If my code changes from fetching '/r20/example.js' to '/r21/example.js', can I be sure that revision 20 of example.js was cached, but now revision 21 has been fetched instead and it is now cached?

  I need to match html tags(the whole tag), based on the tag name. For script tags I have this: <script.+src=.+(\.js|\.axd).+(</script>|>) It correctly matches both tags in the following html: <script src="Scripts/JScript1.js" type="text/javascript" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/JScript2.js" /> However, when I do link tags with the following: <link.+href=.+(\.css).+(</link>|>) It matches all of this at once(eg it returns one match containing both items): <link href="Stylesheets/StyleSheet1.css" rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="Stylesheets/StyleSheet2.css" rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" /> What am I missing here? The regexes are essentially identical except for the text to match to? Also, I know that regex is not a great tool for HTML parsing...I will probably end up using the HtmlAgilityPack in the end, but this is driving me nuts and I want an answer if only for my own mental health!

But I want if there is an error generated by jquery.validate.js then I know the how many errors generated by validate.js in application.php. • Possibly simple PHP/MYSQL issue with retrieving and showing data

  I have been racking my brains over this for a while now. Here is the data i have in the sql data base as an example: ID | TYPE | DATA 1 | TXT | TEST 2 | PHP | php 3 | JS | JAVASCRIPT That is just an example, there are multiple listing for TXT, PHP and JS throughout the table. What I want to do is retrive all the data and display it all into separate drop down/select boxes. Meaning, select box one would list all data with type TXT, select box two would list all data with type PHP and select box 3 would list all data with type JS. The only way I have came about doing this is doing individual sql queries for each different type. I know there is a way to do it all in 1 query and then display it the way I want to but I just can't seem to figure out how and I know its going to drive me nuts when someone helps and I see just how they did it.
