  • MVC how to implement two different post actions

    I'm developing this really important squirrel application. There is a wizard where squirrels are added to the database. So say there are three screens to this wizard: Squirrel name details Height and weight Nut storage So at each step of the wizard I'm wanting to save the details to the database. The Height and weight view looks like: @model HeightWeightViewModel @{ ViewBag.Title = "Height and weight"; } <h2>Height and weight</h2> @using (Html.BeginForm()) { <h3>Height</h3> <div> @Html.EditorFor(model => model.Squirrel.Height) </div> <h3>Weight</h3> <div> @Html.EditorFor(model => model.Squirrel.Weight) </div> <input type="submit" value="Previous" /> <input type="submit" value="Next" /> } So I'm hoping that Previous and Next buttons will save these details. The Previous button while saving will also take the user to the Squirrel name details page. The Next will save and take the user to the nut storage page. I got the Next button working using: public ActionResult Edit(SquirrelViewModel squirrelViewModel) { _unitOfWork.SaveHeightWeight(squirrelViewModel); return RedirectToAction("Edit", "NutStorage", new { id = squirrelViewModel.Squirrel.Id }); } So the Next button saves the details and sends the user to the NutStorage page. The Previous button does the same as Next but I actually want it to send the user to the first step of the Wizard after saving. I'm not sure how to do this. Would I have another method to post to for Previous? I can't image how to implement this. Maybe I should be using ActionLinks instead of submit buttons but that would not post the details to be saved. Can anyone suggest how to get the previous button to save and send the user to the first page of the wizard while still having the Next functionality working?

    Hello, I'm trying to make a script that will download search results from a HTTPS website using POST. So far, I'm able to download the web page before the submission but not the response page containing the search results. The problem seems to be that curl isn't waiting long enough for the response page to appear. The website behaviors likes this. Website appears- input form data - click submit - progressing icon appears - returns new web page with search results( new data but the url doesn't change ) My code: curl -d "postData" -k url

    For the warehouse work under progress, we have a single solution with multiple projects in it OLTP Database Project Warehouse Database Project SSIS ETL project After the SSIS project is built, I want to move the binaries (XML, really) from the Bin folder to "C:\AutomatedTasks\ETL.Warehouse\" and "C:\AutomatedTasks\ETL" I cannot find the Post-Build events to do that for the SSIS project. Where are they? If they aren't available, how do I achieve this?

    I'm planning to have a desktop app interact with some .ASP or .ASPX pages on a server. I've only done a little bit with .asp pages and I'm thinking I'd just Post or Get a URL with some variables: MySite.com/Functions.asp?FunctionName=?Paramater1=somevalue?Parameter2=... I'm wondering if there is any better way to go about this? Am I missing something? Is there perhaps a better way to go about this?

    I have basically this on a page: <script type="text/javascript"> function refresh_context() { $("#ajax-context").html("Searching..."); $.get("/ajax/ldap_search.php", {cn: $("#username").val()}, function(xml) { $("#ajax-context").html($("display", xml).text()); $("#context").val($("context", xml).text()); }, 'xml'); } $(document).ready(function() { $("#username").blur(refresh_context); }); </script> <input type="text" name="username" id="username" maxlength="255" value="" /> <input type="hidden" name="context" id="context" value=""/> <div id="ajax-context"></div> What it should do (and does fine on Firefox) is when you type a username in to the #username field, it will run /ajax/ldap_search.php?cn=$username, which searches our company's ldap for the username and returns it's raw context and a formatted version of the context like this: <result> <display>Staff -&gt; Accounting -&gt; John Smith</display> <context>cn=jsmith,ou=Accounting,ou=Staff,ou=Users,o=MyOrg</context> </result> The formatted version (display) goes to the div #ajax-context and goes to the hidden input #context. (Also, the - are actually - "& g t ;" (without spaces)). However, on IE the div stays stuck on "Searching..." and the hidden input value stays blank. I've tried both .get and .post and neither work. I'm sure it's failing on the .get because if I try this, I don't even get the alert: $.get("/ajax/ldap_search.php", {cn: $("#username").val()}, function() { alert("Check"); }); Also, IE doesn't give me any script errors. Edit: Added "$(document).ready(function() {", the .blur was already in it in my code, but I forgot to include that in my post.
