  How can i make a cached object re-cache it self with updated info when the cache has expired? I'm trying to prevent the next user who request the cache to have to deal with getting the data setting the cache then using it is there any background method/event i can tie the object to so that when it expires it just calls the method it self and self-caches.

  I want to mimic the functionality of Google Chrome/FireFox for example, when rearranging your bookmarks, when you are dragging the menu item, it creates a black line at the proposed drop point, like this: I've already implemented the Drag/Drop functionality to rearrange the menu, but I would like to add these separator lines as an additional feature. Is there a way to do this within the .NET Framework (3.5) or shall I have to resort to Win32 api calls? Just wanted to ask before I went down that path.

  While debugging in instruments using 'ObjectAlloc' I'm noticing 7megs of memory being allocated for the renderInContext call, but it never is released. When I comment out the renderInContext call this doesn't happen, and future renderInContext calls does not continue to increase the memory allotment.   I created a web application in which one .aspx page calls an AJAX-enabled WCF service (created with Visual Studio 2008 Add New Item - AJAX-enabled WCF Service). when I test the application in Visual Studio, it works and the page can call the service from Javascript but when I "publish" (code precompilation using Visual Studio) it to the local IIS Server, I get an error : "service ThunServ is undefined" in my .html page. I've been spending quite a time to solve this problem but to no avail. Attarea.

Is it truly faster to have users load (a hopefully cached) copy of jquery from Google's repositories? Does using jQuery for AJAX calls improve/reduce efficiency over basic javascript xmlHTTP requests? Is there a practical way to cut down the number of included scripts? For example, I include jQuery and jQuery UI from google, table sorter, and a growl plug-in.

• sudo taking long time

  On a Ubuntu 9 64bit Linux machine, sudo takes longer time to start. "sudo echo hi" takes 2-3 minutes. strace on sudo tells poll("/etc/pam.d/system-auth", POLLIN) timesout after 5 seconds and there are multiple calls(may be a loop) to same system call (which causes 2-3min delay). Any idea why sudo has to wait for /etc/pam.d/system-auth? Any tunable to make sudo to timeout faster? Thanks Samuel

• JSF Ajax refresh issue

  In my JSF page, I have a dropdown that needs to be populated onload of the page which is set in request scope, now I have a Ajax call that refreshes a part of the page. The Ajax piece works fine but the issue is on refresh it also calls the getter for the Dropdown and returns null ( because its in request scope). To me it makes no sense to call the getter for a component that's not part of the Ajax refresh. Am I doing it correct , please suggest.
