• SharePoint 2010 slow page response time suddenly !

  Hello, One of my customers faced a problem that suddenly their SharePoint portal was loading extremely slower than usual. After some basic troubleshooting I did not find anything suspicious in the ULS logs, IIS logs or even Event logs. After that, I came to the part that I like most which is capturing a memory dump for the IIS process and analyzing the threads running. I searched for any common mistakes like looping a large list, calling a remote web service but couldn't find any. After a deep analysis of the memory dump (Which was done by an Escalation Engineer for SharePoint), it seems that the farm root certificate was missing and therefore was trying to validate it from the internet every time the user requests to load the page and this was the resolution http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2625048 Cheers,

  I am getting unusually large calls on my app. I have implemented CSRF Check over ajax and its working but am still getting so many calls. My guess is that someone has a script that is 'logged' in and making all these calls. Could someone please share a good iptables script for blocking ip's that run 10 calls to /controler/action in a second. • How to Automate Checking for Stolen Content?

  So I know about tools like Copyscape and Google Alerts.. great tools, but it's quite tedious for me to copy and paste an URL or phrase for every one of my pages in my sites. Is there any tool out there that monitors your website and emails you or alerts you whenever someone has stolen content from your site? The only service I know is CopySentry and honestly, it's too expensive for me since I got thousands of pages I want to monitor... Anyone else have this problem? or is it just me?   I own a domain containing a trademarked word. I don't want to get into trouble with the trademark owner so my plan is to use the domain to display information (wiki-style) about the service the trademark owner provides. My question is whether I can display ads on this website to make money. For example, let's say I own Google.org (Google being a trademark). On this domain I would write about the real Google (history, business etc.) Can I get into trouble for having ads on this page including ones that promote other search engines (Yahoo, Bing, etc.).

I will do this in winforms, perhaps in a Windows Service, running on the server. Are there dotnet commands to loop through URLs, where I can run the URL, then wait for its response, then run the next one... in a loop. I am just unclear on the call to run the URL, and the waiting...

  I am running 12.04 LTS on a VM. I encountered a problem with the screen being black and the familiar orange background showing for a fraction of a second when clicking or resizing the screen. I had to shutdown the machine and now I have no GUI. I only get a black command-line interface.   I'm senior C++ developer, I have also programmed professionally j2me some years. I'd like to make some apps and widgets for Android and I'd like to read up a bit on this new java stuff Android is using. I have (of course) checked out some tutorials and so but it seems I miss the basics, I can compile some stuff (read: examples) in eclipse but I just don't know how to, for example, add a service or what an 'intent' is, why my widget isn't called but successfully launches the main app when clicked and so on. So, what is a really good book for someone that is a developer but mostly need the hard facts about developing something specific like Android apps & widgets? Thanks a bunch!

• Connection make b/w iphone to windows pc-rajay [on hold]

  I Need to create connection between ios to windows by using socket programming in ios. I'm trying to to use an application to communicate with Windows via sockets. At the minimum, I'm trying to at least figure out how I can create a connection from the iPhone (maybe using the iPhone to ping the Windows machine?) I'm not really clear on where I need to start. I'm pretty new to iOS development in general, and brand new to socket/network programming. I've tried several tutorials that haven't gotten me far. My goal is: Connect to a server via sockets (the server will be a Windows machine with a service waiting for incoming connections from the iPhone) If possible, I would like to write/build the client piece first, but I have been lost thus far. Hopefully the nice folks in the SO community can lend a hand and point me in the right direction.

  Sorry for asking this here, I bet it has been asked plenty of times before but this time it's something specific which I haven't understood anywhere else: Suppose I have a service which requires to seek the database for different data once and in a while. For this I have 2 or 3 SSE, each one with a different retry basetime (20000 miliseconds, 1000 miliseconds...). What I'd like to know is if websockets can handle different "data type" accordingly to the request, for example, could I create one websocket to handle a notification system, a chat system, a group system instead of separated SSEs and treat data differently with javascript? And if so, would it be of higher interest (performance) than actually performing different queries to the server through different SSEs?

  We have an Azure service (web role) that heavily depends on the database. For offline development/testing, we'd like to have the app+db run offline within the emulators. Running the webrole itself within the emulator is straightforward but doing so for the Azure SQL storage isn't so. What is the simplest way to ensure that the cloud Azure SQL database and the emulator/local Azure SQL database are in sync? We can afford some level of staleness for simplicity of sync operation (meaning it's ok for the local copy to be a few hours stale versus mirroring every write as soon as it happens) Thanks

I have been using Tumblr and pointing blog.mydomain.com to the domains.tumblr.com CNAME to get a free blog that looks like it belongs to my site. I want to be able to display my blog on my root level hostname like mydomain.com/blog. The whole point of moving from blog.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/blog is for SEO purposes. Whats the best way to go about this and still get to leverage a hosted blogging platform like Tumblr?
