  I am trying to setup my domain name with a self signed cert. I created the cert and placed the server.key and server.crt files into C:/apache/config/ Then I updated my httpd.confg host to include the following, <VirtualHost 192.168.5.250:443> DocumentRoot C:/www ServerName mydomain.com:443 ServerAlias www.mydomain.com:443 SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile C:/apache/conf/server.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile C:/apache/conf/server.key SSLVerifyClient none SSLProxyEngine off SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" \ nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \ downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 CustomLog logs/ssl_request_log \ "%t %h %{SSL_PROTOCOL}x %{SSL_CIPHER}x \"%r\" %b" </VirtualHost> Now when I go to https://mydomain.com I get the following error. SSL connection error Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have. • Apache on Windows random long wait times

  I have a development machine with Apache installed as a service on Windows. The installation is fresh out of the box, with no changes to configuration aside from adding the PHP module. From day one, I've had a problem that looks like this: Essentially, Apache is freezing for about 11 seconds before replying on random requests. This appears to happen more frequently when the host hasn't been connected to in a while, but this is not always the case. I've eliminated MySQL, PHP, and the specific application; this long wait problem will occur even when loading a static file such as favicon.ico. Thus, the only factor remaining is Apache, which is freezing for consistently around 10-11 seconds before replying. The problem is not the DNS problem that many people point to; as you can see, the DNS lookup is instant, and the problem occurs both on localhost and 127.0.0.1. Thanks for the time.

• PHP 5.2.13 doesn't work on Windows 7 on apache 2.2

  I have a test server on a Windows 7 Machine with apache 2.2 installed. On it PHP 5.2.11 was workig fine (as a module). But when I try to install 5.2.13 (or greater). It doesn't start. Nothing beside the PHP version is different. I unzip the files and add the lines. LoadModule php5_module "c:/PHP/php5apache2_2.dll" AddType application/x-httpd-php .php PHPIniDir "c:/PHP" But that LoadModule directive doesn't let apache start. When I comment that line apache starts. When I replace the files with those in 5.2.11 package Everything works fine again. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Logging the client IP with Nginx/Varnish/Apache

  I have Nginx listening on port 443 as an SSL terminator, and proxying unencrypted traffic to Varnish on the same server. Varnish 3 is handling this traffic, and traffic coming in directly on port 80. All traffic is passed, unencrypted, to Apache instances on other servers in the cluster. The Apache instances use mod_rpaf to replace the logged client IP with the contents of the X-Forwarded-For header. My problem is that if the traffic is coming via Nginx, while the 'correct' client IP is getting logged in the VarnishNCSA logs, it looks as if Varnish is (understandably) replacing Nginx's X-Forwarded-For header with 127.0.0.1 downstream, and this is getting logged with Apache. Is there a nice simple way to stop Varnish rewriting X-Forwarded-For if it's already populated?

  I used Webmin to create the following Virtual Host: <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot "/var/www/whatever" ServerName whatever.ourdomain <Directory "/var/www/whatever"> allow from all Options +Indexes </Directory> </VirtualHost> And when restarting Apache I get Starting httpd: Warning: DocumentRoot [/var/www/whatever] does not exist The thing is, the directory absolutely DOES exist. I'm staring right at it. pwd shows me that's my current directory, etc. It's not that hard to spell it right. I can't find any other errors or warnings in the httpd logs. apache:apache owns the directory and all subdirectories/files. There isn't any symlinks or anything involved here. What am I missing or what else should I look at to determine why this is? OS is CentOS 6.0

When I restart it, it asks me for a pass phrase; here's what the dialog looks like: Apache/2.2.16 mod_ssl/2.2.16 (Pass Phrase Dialog) Some of your private key files are encrypted for security reasons. In order to read them you have to provide the pass phrases. Server 127.0.0.1:443 (RSA) Enter pass phrase: I've already worked out how to remove the pass phrase from the key file in question, but I can't find any information anywhere on how to determine which key file Apache is complaining about in the above dialog. I have dozens of key files on the server in question, although I don't know which ones are in active use (all I did is 'locate .pem' and ignore the false positives). Does anyone know how to track down which pem file I need to remove the passphrase from?

  I am trying to start Apache 2.2.22 under Fedora 15 on my local machine. After fixing some errors related to missing modules, httpd -t will just give me 'Syntax OK'. However when I try to start apache as the root user: service httpd start it still returns: Starting httpd (via systemctl): Job failed. See system logs and 'systemctl status' for details. [FAILED] When entering systemctl I don't see any extra information other than: httpd.service loaded failed failed LSB: start and stop Apache HTTP Server So I wonder where to look now to get this back up and running.

  I am wondering if it is possible to redirect requests through Apache to eg. OpenVPN. As long as I need to bypass firewall, I need to use port 80/443 for openVPN, but there is Apache server which has both port for itself. Client ---> Firewall (allows 80/443 only) --->| ---> Apache (80/443) ---> OpenVPN (1194) | -------------------------------------------- My Server I was thinking about mod_proxy, but I am not sure if it is good idea, have you got any ideas? I hope possible solution will be applicable on virtual host as well.

  There are already a bunch of rules in my Apache configuration. What I want to add is the following. There are some shared folders (.shared): /var/www/.shared/ and /var/www/.include/.shared/ and /var/www/.include/(.*)/.shared/. Now when someone visits http://domain.com/test.png it first executes the existing apache rules and will (when the file/folder was not found) look in those .shared folders. So suppose I've got this filesystem: /var/www/.shared/dog.png /var/www/.shared/test.gif and /var/www/domain.com/dog.png. Now when someone visits http://domain.com/test.gif, it must load the test.gif from the .shared folder. Now when someone visits http://domain.com/dog.png it must load the dog.png from the domain.com folder (because the existing apache rules will be executed first).

  netstat -ntp |grep 80 shows too many ESTABLISHED connection from single IP address. Around 300 of them and it is not an attack and user is using a 2G connection to access Apache. This is the case with other 2G connections also. As a result of this Apache is running out of children. Earlier it was showing too many close_wait and after enabling tcp_tw_reuse and tcp_tw-recycle there is not much close_wait but the number of ESTABLISHED connections increased. We are using Ubuntu 11.04 having 48 GB ram keepalive On keepalive timeout 10 max clients 800 max-request-perchild 4000 timeout 300 I have set syn_ack to 1 and syn_retries to 2. On wifi there is no such issue. Connections are closing properly, but with 2G connections Apache is running out of children and too many ESTABLISHED connection. also i have tried setting timeout from default 300 to 30,but since our project is image hosting for mobile phones,clients couldn't upload images properly as they are getting frequent time out.Also there were a lot of 408 messages so changed it to the default 300

  I have installed Tomcat Apache 6.0 onto my system after downloading it from http://tomcat.apache.org/download-55.cgi using the Windows installer I install the system. But after successful installation the service doesn't start. Stating an error like follows: Windows could not start the Apache tomcat on Local Computer, For More Information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to the service specific error code 0 I then try to install the same installer on Win XP and it worked. Don't know how to resolve this problem and how to get it started on Win7. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  We have recently migrated our website to a new server, and JPEGCam is now reporting a 406 (Not Acceptable) error when trying to upload the image from the SWF to the server. I know that it isn't supported any more by the developer, but I wondered if anyone has encountered this problem before. I suspected the issue was with the Mod_Security module in Apache (i.e. not whitelisting Shockwave Flash), but the server admins have also drawn a blank. The request is being sent as a POST method, and returns a 406 error, but according to the Apache logs, it is returning a 404 error. I wondered if anyone has encountered this problem before, or knows of a 'simple' fix. Everything was working on our Xampp flavour dev server, so I am 100% certain this is an Apache issue. Also, when trying to access the requested page directly in the web browser, everything gets served up without a problem...

  I apologize in advance if this is a basic question, but I am quite confused after reading the Apache documentation and other tutorials. Does a single Apache prefork process serve all HTTP requests for a given client? That's what I thought, but when I reduce maxclients down to a low number, my page load times go to a crawl. This despite the fact I'm the only client on the server in question. This would suggest each process serves a single HTTP request at a time, rather than serving all requests within the TimeOut window. So if a single webpage requires 15 HTTP requests to load fully, do I require 15 prefork Apache processes to optimally serve it?

  Lets say we want a library of javascript-based pieces of functionality (I'm thinking jquery): For example: an ajax dialog a date picker a form validator a sliding menu bar an accordian thingy There are four pieces of code for each: some Python, CSS, JS, & HTML. What is the best way to arrange all these pieces so that: each javascript 'module' can be neatly reused by different views the four bits of code that make up the completed function stay together the css/js/html parts appear in their correct places in the response common dependencies between modules are not repeated (eg: a javascript file in common) x-------------- It would be nice if, or is there some way to ensure that, when called from a templatetag, the templates respected the {% block %} directives. Thus one could create a single template with a block each for CSS, HTML, and JS, in a single file. Invoke that via a templatetag which is called from the template of whichever view wants it. That make any sense. Can that be done some way already? I have used ModX for quite a few designs and appreciate the ability to create different page templates and custom variables to be assigned to those templates. However I seem to be having some issues making the transition. The site I am working on theming in Drupal is for a real estate agent. Each page/section will have a different set of content associated with it and will need to display only that content. For example, there will be a page for current listings, each of which will be formatted by a custom content type. However, when I call the content on the home page (or on other pages) I do not want to see this listing data. Layout The layout of the site and the regions associated with each page/section is as follows: Home Spotlight Featured 1 Featured 2 About Spotlight Bios - Profiles of each agent (each will be a node with name, contact info, pic, etc) listed on the page; multiple nodes listed Sidebar Listings Spotlight Listings - Profiles of properties (each will be a node with locations, basic info, pic, etc) listed on the page; multiple nodes listed Sidebar Services Spotlight Content - general paragraph text area Sidebar News/Blog News/Blog Items - List of stories with summaries and links to full article Sidebar Each page/section will use the same header and footer. Issue I have done some reading on Drupal, custom content types (and CCK), Views, and Pathauto. However I have not been able to get a clear picture of how to put it all together to accomplish what I am attempting. What I really would like to know is which modules to use, how best to use them, which elements I need to use where, and what template files I should be using to theme the elements I need to use. Any help or reference to useful resources would be much appreciated.
