• How to implement a Google-chrome-like title bar for Java SWT application

  I have inherited development of a Java/SWT application running on Windows only. One of the feature requests that I need to scope is a Google-chrome-type title bar in place of the SWT windows title bar. The application's tabs appear at the same level as the window control buttons. My understanding is that I will need to: write a Windows widget capable of rendering the custom look and managing tabs as opposed to menus. expose the Windows widget as a dll for use in Java via JNI write a custom SWT widget to wrap it and expose the tab management interface. I have a lot of experience with Java programming, GUI programming with Swing/AWT, and non-GUI C# programming. Windows GUI programming and SWT are new to me so I'm not sure where to start. The best I have found so far is a 2001 article on writing your own SWT widget. My biggest unknown is the best way to implement a custom Windows application-window.

  Hi, i've written this peace of code: var a=function(){ }; a.name="test"; a.prop="test2"; Now if i debug the code with the console: console.log(a.name); console.log(a.prop); In Firefox i get a.name="test" and a.prop="test2", while in Safari and Chrome i get a.prop="test2" but a.name="". It seems that there's no way to assign a "name" property on a function in Webkit browsers. Do you know why? But the most important thing is, do you know a workaround for that?

• Chrome starts to load image then show broken link icon

  Chrome (21.0.1180.79 m) On several random pages it has started to load an image and then suddenly the image disappears and there's only the broken image icon. If I right click the icon and choose to open the image in another window then the image opens, so it seems to me that it isn't a problem with the page? But the response is lost, in the console ---type of data = String ---data in function = So for some reason I am not getting the response back. Works from the browser. I even tried doing a get against cnn.com and got no response. any ideas? thanks

• Jquery JSON .each() doesnt work in Google Chrome

  I have a really simple chat application on a site which works pretty good. This is driving me nuts, have tried everything I've come across online for days but I can't seem to get it right. Please someone help!   Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result. • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

  When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

  So I have been working on a game in HTML5 canvas and noticed that the games lags and performs much slower when hardware acceleration is turned on in Google Chrome then when it is turned off. You can try for yourself here From doing some profiling I see that the problem lies in drawImage. More specifically drawing one canvas onto another. I do a lot of this. Hardware Acceleration on. Hardware Acceleration off. Is there something fundamental I am missing with one canvas to another? Why would the difference be that profound?

  Regarding 301; If I redirect nonwww to www domain with 301 redirect, do I still have to determinate inside google webmaster tools which version (www or nonwww) is prefered?   I'm developing an RTS game and I want to add multiplayer support to my game. I picked the easiest technique to implement for start frame locking technique. I used server client networking architecture (I think it's my first mistake I think using peer to peer is a better one for this) On game update every clients send their commands and maybe receive some command then render the frame and wait for all clients to send their update complete message then all of them can go for the next frame. I send commands and all logic is calculated on the clients based on commands but the clients can go out of sync easily. Every AI controlled units make different decisions on each clients What I have to do to sync my game? Do you suggest me a better network architecture or technique?

• Do AdWords conversions only track AdWords visitors?

  I have set up an AdWords conversion and put the conversion tracking JS code on a test page. However, I don't see any conversions tracked when I visit it. Does the AdWords conversion tracking only register your conversion if you come to the site by clicking on an AdWords campaign? Google's help page advises me to test the code by clicking a campaign. However, I would like to use the tracking to track all conversions, not just AdWords. I considered using Analytics as well, but it seems you can only track via url there, not JS, which would mean I had to restructure a part of my page. (Because currently a conversion appears does not necessarily happen on a different URL.) Is AdWords tracking not a viable solution to track all visitor conversions on my site?

• Could the rel="author" just be a username?

  I want to use rel="author", however the type of blog I run is about a game, and doesn't relate to my real identity. I'm more known for my screen name, so would this still be okay to use for the rel="author" tag? For example, if my Google+ account is for my user, and not for myself, could I still use it within the rel="author" tag? I don't want to get penalized in any sort of way. • Why the amount of 'indexed' images can go down?

  I have a site with several thousand of images. All those images included into the sitemap submitted to Google Webmaster Tools. The amount of 'submitted' images is OK, but the amount of 'indexed' is significantly lower than the amount of 'submitted' and it is going DOWN! I'd understand if not all of my images got indexed (however it is also not clear and very frustrating for me) but I can not understand how the indexing can go in the negative direction?! All the images stays on their places. And pages containing them stays unchanged. At least they intended to be. Any thoughts?

How can I tell Google to re-index and that the structure has changed? Internally I redirect in ASP.NET when the URL contains myfolder by I want Google to update the URLs. Thanks for the answers - I use IIS 6 and I do not know how to configure a redirect of all pages that contains the folder to page one folder below. So I did the trick in the Begin_Request method and did a Context.Response.Redirect. This is no 301 redirect, only a redirect done with ASP.NET via code. Will this also do the trick so that Google notices that the URL /folder/page1.aspx now is redirected to /page1.aspx?

  Several times in the past I've bought a domain through Google Apps, and every year Google automatically renews the domain for $10. Somehow when I did this today, I ended up additionally being signed up for an annual Google Apps for Business plan at $12/license/yr. I don't need this; I'm only one user. I'd like to cancel this $12/yr Google Apps plan without cancelling the automatical $10/yr domain renewal. However, there is no "cancel" or "downgrade" link, apparently (according to the help docs) because I have an annual pre-paid account. If I choose not to auto-renew my annual account, it also declines auto-renewal of my domain. How can I make this domain just like my others -- auto-renewed at $10/yr, with a free Google Apps account in front of it?

• Resize content for "frame" on .aspx page which draws product content from suppliers' page

  I have a retail store site, no online sales, which displays the webpage of our supplier in a "frame" in order to have the most accurate and up to date information for our customers. (example) My issue is that the size of the page it is pulling in doesn't fit in the frame. It looks pretty poor, and part of the content is obscured. Is there a way to scale the content drawn in to the size of the frame? The same site also has an intermittent issue with the Flash banner loading. When it doesn't load, the layout of the header on the page is awful. Any ideas there will also be appreciated.
