• Call to a phone number through iPhone App

  Hi iPhone developers, I want to add a feature in my iPhone app, the are: call to a phone number in my app play a recorded mp3 voice to that number after call end, relaunch the previous app I know I have to use following code snipt for dialing to a number XXXXXX: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"tel:XXXXXX"]]; My be play record not worked, as my app will terminate when call dial launch. is there any way to do this? And, after call ended, or call failed will my previous app relaunch? please answer ASAP.

• How do I properly embed third-party frameworks in my Cocoa application?

  I am writing a Cocoa application that makes use of the ParseKit framework (http://www.parsekit.com/). I've included the Framework in the proper folder, added a Copy Files build phase, and added it to the build phase. I can build and launch the application on my Mac. However, when I try to run it on another Mac, it crashes. The Console shows the following error message: dyld: Library not loaded: /Users/Jordan/Files/ParseKit/build/Debug/ParseKit.framework/Versions/A/ParseKit It looks like when the app launches, it is looking for the framework on my local drive. However, the framework is in the Copy Files build phase, so it has been copied into that application's Contents/Frameworks folder. If if the application were looking in this folder, it would be able to load the framework just fine, but for some reason it's looking for it on my local drive on the original Mac (which obviously doesn't exist on the other Mac). What am I doing wrong?

  Trying to understand this problem I'm running into. I create file welcome.rb. The contents of this file: welcome_message = "hi there" I then launch an irb session. And type require 'welcome'. That works fine. Then I type: puts welcome_message I get the error message undefined local variable or method `welcome_message' for main:Object What is the best way to bring in predefined variables and have initialization work done when you require something into your irb session. Global variables didn't seem like the right path.

  I am helping a startup business to launch and I will be building or finding a shopping cart software for its website. There will only be one product for sale, but anytime someone buys a product, I have to use customer information like their zipcode and which distributor they bought from to calculate commissions that will go to the different distributors. All the incoming money will be sent to one sort of escrow account for a few weeks, and after that few weeks is over, I need to be able to "throw the switch" and cause each of the 20,000 distributors to get their rightful share of that escrow account, depending on the data stored that reflects their sales activity and commissions due. Is this something I can write a script to handle? Better yet, is this something an inexpensive or open source solution can handle, or something that can be setup in something like Paypal? Or is a better approach to somehow create a webpage where each distributor can login to and see their commissions due and initiate the account transfer on their own, but the web app restrict them from transferring more than what they're due? • Why won't the VisualVM Profiler profile my application?

  I've created a simple 1 file java application that iterates through a loop, calls some functions, allocates some memory, adds some numbers, etc. I run that application via eclipse's Run As->Java Application. The running application shows up in Java VisualVM under Local. I double click on that application and go to the Profiler tab. The default settings are: Start profiling from classes: my.main.package.** Do not profile classes: java.*, javax.*, sun.*, sunw.*, com.sun.* I click on CPU. The CPU and Memory buttons gray out. Nothing happens. The Status says profiling inactive. When my application terminates the Status says application terminated. What am I doing wrong here? Are there some settings I need to tweak? Do I need to set a VM flag when I launch my application?

• Container Options in AWS Elastic Beanstalk

  We have deployed a java webapplication in Elastic Beanstalk with the minimum instance count 1 and max instance count 2 for Autoscaling. The custom AMI we are using is c1.medium with Sun JDK 6. The environment status changed to yellow and then red. After checking into the log file from the snapshot logs we found a exception - Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. Assuming this could be one of the possible reason for the Environment failure. The settings that we have configured in the Environment Container option are Initial JVM Heap Size (MB) - 256M Maximum JVM Heap Size (MB) - 512m The maximum heap size the java virtual machine will ever consume, specified on the JVM launch command line using -Xmx. Maximum JVM Permanent Generation Size (MB) - 512m Should i increase the Heap size from 512m to more or is it fine.

• Eclipse RCP application launcher not working properly in Arabic

  I have an RCP application which I build using the .product file and PDE. In my product file I create a binary launcher for different applications to provide convenience to the user. It all works fine except when testing in Arabic languages. In Arabic the application starts and it actually shows the Arabic characters that I mocked for testing but, it does not mirror. That said, if I invoke the launcher and pass the -nl switch launcher.exe -nl AR Then it mirrors. Also if I launch from the IDE with the target platform environment set to AR it mirrors too. I am shipping the bidi plugins for jface and swt (along with the NL plugins) and for the platform delta packs... Does anynone know what could be wrong with the laucher?

  hi I am using Android 2.2 . I am unable to connect my emulator to internet . When I open my web browser in the emulator it shows the message "Web Page not available" . I have set proxy settings in the emulator (settings - Wireless & Networks -Mobile Networks - Access Point Names). Also , I set proxy settings in eclipse (Windows- Preferences- Android- Launch- Default Emulator Options). I have read many blogs and forums but I haven't found any solution yet .I am really frustrated . Please help me out. Abhijeet

There are a lot of philosophies on development of software. Like the UNIX-philosophy. Often vague and not easy to understand. I am looking for statements such as the one cited below. Which you can ask about the software when it's in the design-stage, is ready to be coded, and has been coded and is ready for launch. The software I am talking about, is of course the software made for the end-user. Ken Rockwell wrote: "I expect that it will let me get more accomplished in less time."   I have a little Java Applet and I have an annoying issue. I have signed my JAR with my own keystore using jarsigner tool (following these instructions). The Java Applet downloads a signed JAR and tries to launch it with an extended class of URLClassLoader. This JAR tries to execute this line of code: ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResource("aResource"); It fails with a large stack trace finished by: Caused by: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied ("java.lang.RuntimePermission" "getClassLoader") at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:366) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:555) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:549) at java.lang.Thread.getContextClassLoader(Thread.java:1451) ... 21 more When the Java Applet is launched, the user is prompted to accept the certificate if he/she trusts the publisher: Even if I accept it, the exception occurred. Even if I install the certificate, and the prompt message is automatically accepted, the exception occurred. Any help would be appreciated!

• How to "chain" modal dialogs in YUI 2 ?

  I have a modal dialog box presented in Yahoo UI. The user selects a value from dialog "A", and then I want to present another modal dialog box to collect some more data in dialog "B". I have been using the YAHOO.widget.Dialog successfully. The problem seems to be that you can't initiate dialog window "B" from the handler function of dialog "A". So, how can you programmatically launch a second dialog window after the user hits the "OK" button on the first ? (I had tried to create an additional Listener for a field that is updated in dialog "A" to trigger dialog "B" but this doesn't work either.) Thanks..

  Has anyone done a thorough comparison of AppFabric and NCache or AppFabric and ScaleOut? We are currently looking to implement either AppFabric, NCache or ScaleOut for distributed caching in geographically distant locations and I would like to know anyone's thoughts who has compared them side by side. I appreciate that many people use one or the other and tell me why their chosen solution is great but I am really looking for a comparison of the two products. Such things as what does AppFabric not do or not do well (if anything), partially from a features point of view but also from developer's point of view. Is working with one compared to the other nicer, easier, more flexible, more powerful, etc. There are plenty of lists of features which I can compare but am really looking for a comparison from someone who has perhaps been in a similar position to us and has performed the evaluation that we are about to launch into which will give us some food for thought whilst we do so.   When i try to check leaks of my iPhone App using Instruments, everything is just fine. Same App on actual real device shows this leak for a few times during the app launch. It is pretty non-deterministic and it happens in system libraries. I tried to google down the solution without a luck. Anyone experiencing the same problems? Anyone knows the solution? I find interesting, that every of my leak in code will crash the app sooner or later. These GeneralBlock-3584 leaks keeps app perfectly stable. Might this be reason for AppStore rejection? Thanx for any answer regarding this undocumented problem (Apple is silent unfortunately).

• STAThread and Process output capture in c#

  Hi: This is a strange problem I encountered. I have an window application written in c# to do testing. It has a MDI parent form that is hosting a few children forms. One of the forms launch test cripts by creating processes and capture the scripts output to a text box. Another form open serial port and monitoring the status of the device I am working on(like a shell). If I ran both of them together, the output of the script seems only appear in the text box after the test is done. However, If I don't open the serial port form, the output of the script is captured in real time. Does anyone knows what's causing the problem? I notice the onDataReceived even handler for serial port form has a [STAThread] header to it. Will this cause the serial port thread having higher priority than other processes? Thanks in advance.

  hi, I m stuck in a really simple problem. And i m afraid my question might annoy some people. The problem i am facing in short is that i want to add UITabBar Control to my iphone application other than the main screen. Let me explain, I have done everything successfully Added UItabbar control from IB in the main window's xib, added a variable at the back end , associated it by dragging the line. Also added a UIWindow variable and wrote these lines . [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; when i launch the application a blank window appears and tab bar shows on its bottom. But the problem i dont want to add it to a particular window which is inside my app. Its no the first screen of my app. Its actually the 3rd screen of my app. Can anybody help ? thanks Taimur

• when is a push notification old?

  I have noted that when the iPhone OS receives a push notification, it considers that a user action to click on the action button as a "response" to the push notification for some indefinite period of time. If the user lets the push notification sit on screen for a number of seconds, or lets the phone go to sleep, the phone no longer considers the users action as a response to the push notification itself, and therefore does not launch the corresponding app. So my question is... does anyone know what the precise definition from the iPhone OS is as to how long the phone considers a push notification response to be corresponding to the push? Sorry, I can't find a great way to phrase this question, but I hope it makes sense. I'm guessing its something like 20 seconds from my testing, but I don't see this specifically documented anywhere.

• Video packet capture over multiple IP cameras

  Hello We are working on a C language application which is simple RTSP/RTP client to record video from Axis a number of Cameras . We launch a pthread for each of the camera which establishes the RTP session and begins to record the packets captured suing the recvfrom() call... A single camera single pthread records fine for well over a day without issues.. but testing with more cameras available,about 25(so 25 pthreads), the recording to file goes fine for like 15 to 20 mins and then the recording just stops ..the application still keeps running .. Its been over a month and a half we have been trying with varied implementations but nothing seems to help .. Please provide suggestions.. We are using CentOS 5 platform

• Low Power Speed Monitoring

  I am aware of speed detection via gps, however as a background app, I am concerned about high power drain. I am looking to detect speed, say over 5mph, but it does not have to be accurate, say like a speedometer. Is there a low power way to detect if the phone is in motion, say by triangulation, or tracking tower strength and new/recently lost towers? I have an app design that is dependent on running in the background upon launch and knowing if the phone is in a car or not. Thanks!

So, as a result we would have image with some white transparent layer on top.   Using Visual Studio 2005, is there a way to export the images in an Image List to individual files on my PC? Using the IDE, I select the Image List and view its properties. In the "Images" property, I launch the Images Collection Editor dialog. I can only add and remove images, but I cannot find a way to export an image that is already in the list. Why? The developer who made the original list has left our company and I need the images for an ASP.NET application (will convert to .jpeg). Thank you for the help!

I need to minimize or resize it in order to remove the shadow of FolderBrowserDialog. How can I solvet his issue? Any help plz?
