  I've got this verry funny javascript error showing up in an aspx page. load page. CLick a link to enable editing (does not do any page validation). Click the Save button (does do validation) The following error occurs. • Where can I find up-to-date information / walkthroughs on VS 2010 deployment?

  I am looking for information on deploying my web app to our test server. Having heard Hanselman say this is something you can do within VS 2010 easily I set out too find information on exactly how to do this but can not seem to find anything. Ignoring the fact that most of the blog posts / articles are over a year old, there just seems to be no clear step by step information on how to do this. Has anyone found the light? where did you learn this information? • Google Maps 'API key' problem

  I finally got this google maps page working however, it seems that everybody except the client can see it? They're saying the following error message appears "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at..." Here's the page: http://www.sportingemporium.com/google-map.htm When I sign-up for a new key Goggle gives me exactly the same one that I am already using! • Finding the best jquery plugins

  Is there a resource for finding the "best" jquery plugins, or at least just the most used ones? For example, I wanted to find a menu jquery plugin but when I goto the jquery website there are so many to look through and I don't see a way to see how popular each one is. For ruby there's the http://ruby-toolbox.com/ which lists many plugins, how popular they are, info about them, etc. Is there something similar or at least some way to filter through all the jquery plugins? EDIT 1: To shed some more light on this - the "most popular" link on the jquery page is useless. I can't find a way to search through it but even worse, the ratings don't seem to mean much. Ex - the first item, in other words the most popular plugin in that list has 5 stars and TWO votes. Doesn't seem like a very reliable resource to me.

• OpenNETCF.Net.Ftp Behaving Flaky

  I tried posting on their boards (authors of this library), however it literally takes months for them to reply when it comes to the free software (can't blame them). But anyways I have found that this library is behaving weirdly - for instance, a major problem with my application is when someone is trying to sign in (through FTP), they provide a correct login and mistype the password, no reply is received from FTP server. I tried doing the same from command window just to verify that it's not the FTP server's fault; and FTP commands were received instantaneously. It almost looks as though this library eats the commands. The same actions often times will yield different results. Can anyone recommend a stable, reliable library to use with Compact framework? Or shed some light on this issue...?

• Adding Colours (Colors) Together like Paint (Blue + Yellow = Green, etc)

  I'm making an iOS game using cocos2d libraries. Lets say you have two objects that have two separate colours - defined in RGB as Blue: 0,0,255 Yellow: 255,255,0 I want to add blue and yellow to make green. To over complicate things, let's say that the Blue object is bigger than the Yellow object (for the sake of argument let's say that the ratio is 2:1), I'm adding twice as much blue as yellow - how to I calculate this new (light green) colour correctly. I understand LAB * Color Space is useful for this sort of 'natural colour' kind of thing, but I'm not sure how to use it - especially in the context of a cocos2d object which (AFAIK) is limited to using RGB in its colour schemes. I'd really appreciate practical help on how to implement this. Thanks heaps!

• Losing DateTimeOffset precision when using C#

  I have a SQL Server table with a CreatedDate field of type DateTimeOffset(2). A sample value which is in the table is 2010-03-01 15:18:58.57 -05:00 As an example, from within C# I retrieve this value like so: var cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT CreatedDate FROM Entities WHERE EntityID = 2", cn); var da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); DataTable dt =new DataTable(); da.Fill(dt); And I look at the value: MessageBox.Show(dt.Rows[0][0].ToString()); The result is 2010-03-01 15:18:58 -05:00, which is missing the .57 that is stored in the database. If I look at dt.Rows[0][0] in the Watch window, I also do not see the .57, so it appears it has been truncated. Can someone shed some light on this? I need to use the date to match up with other records in the database and the .57 is needed. Thanks! Darvis

  I am wondering if anyone can definitively tell me if Flash / AIR can find all these mobile devices front facing camera and use RTMP to stream the video captured ? I would like to create a video conferencing app for these devices. Of course none of them support testing this in the simulators and I don't have the funds to purchase or access all of them that I would like to test. Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I have seen some posts where they have done this for android but not sure about support for finding a list of cameras, choosing one and streaming from iphone 4 and playbook. thanks for any help on this.

  I'm trying to figure out the best way to insert content into a light box using rails UJS. I have a link that looks like this: <%= link_to "login", login_path, :remote => true %> Which produces html as such: <a data-remote="true" href="/login">login</a> So this all works great, and I've created the view file: user_sessions/new.js.erb which also loads just fine, but my question what is the preferred method of inserting appending the html into the page? Like I already have the login form on the non-js page, so can't I just load that partial into the page? Any ideas would be very welcomed.

• NHibernate, each property is filled with a different select statement

  I'm retrieving a list of nhibernate entites which have relationships to other tables/entities. I've noticed instead of NHibernate performing JOINS and populating the properties, it retrieves the entity and then calls a select for each property. For example if a user can have many roles and I retrieve a user from the DB, Nhibernate retrieves the user and then populates the roles with another select statement. The problem is that I want to retrieve oh let's say a list of products which have various many-to-many relationships and relationships to items which have their own relationships. In the end I'm left with over a thousand DB calls to retrieve a list of 30 products. Thanks. I've also set default lazy loading to false because whenever I save the list of entities to a session, I get an error when trying to retrieve it on another page: LazyInitializationException: could not initialize proxy If anybody could shed any light I would truly appreciate it.   Hi, I am trying to use jQuery to position an inpage div (Context-Menu) relative to a clicked tablerow on a webpage. This works fine until I add an offset with either "left" or "margin-left" to the outer container. Using padding-left works.... The relevant code is: $('#supermenu').position({ my: "left top", at: "left top", of: $(event.target).closest('tr'), collision: "fit" }); The caller looks like: <tr onclick="getMenu(event)"><td>.... What happens: The left margin is added "twice" to the X Offset, so the Menu is not aligned to the left border of the table but somewhere right of it. The offset from the border is exactly the offset from the outer container. Anybody can shed some light? Oliver

• Best way to perform authentication on every request

  Hello. In my asp.net mvc 2 app, I'm wondering about the best way to implement this: For every incoming request I need to perform custom authorization before allowing the file to be served. (This is based on headers and contents of the querystring. If you're familiar with how Amazon S3 does rest authentication - exactly that). I'd like to do this in the most perfomant way possible, which probably means as light a touch as possible, with IIS doing as much of the actual work as possible. The service will need to handle GET requests, as well as writing new files coming in via POST/PUT requests. The requests are for an abitrary file, so it could be: GET http://storage.foo.com/bla/egg/foo18/something.bin POST http://storage.foo.com/else.txt Right now I've half implemented it using an IHttpHandler which handles all routes (with routes.RouteExistingFiles = true), but not sure if that's the best, or if I should be hooking into the lifecycle somewhere else?   i am using fancybox.net for my light boxes. it works great with images. but when i use iframe option i am having problems with encoding. i use hebrew and english and russian on my website. when i use UTF-8 on the iframe page i get squares instead of hebrew letters. when i change to iso-8859-8 i have hebrew but inverted, and russian goes: ??????????? any idea? my website is UTF-8 and every thing works great.. except fancybox :(

• Fadeout a tiled background image in load using JQuery

  Hi, I've used JQuery in the past to fade divs in and out successfully. However, I have encountered a situation I can't quite wrap my head around: I am coding a site for a designer who has based the formatting of all the elements on a grid pattern he's created. As he wants the pattern elements to be the same size independent of the browser window, I think I can only do this via a repeating background tiled image in CSS. Now he wants the background pattern (only) to come in dark and fade to very light, while not effecting any of the other elements. Am I right in thinking it's impossible to call a tiled background pattern using a CSS selector? Does anyone have any suggestions of a workaround to this problem?

  I'm trying to make a 2d shooter game with 3d background. The player and enemies are essentially just quads with textures. The background will be simple 3d polygons with textures and some fog and light. Therefore, I don't need a really powerful 3d library. I tried Unity3D and Torque2D, but I don't like to use their GUI editors. I prefer to work with code. So, is there a cross platform (mainly windows and iPhone) 3d / 2.5d game library, commercial or open source? I assume it will be only limited to c, c++, and object-c due to apple's new ToS.

• When is it appropriate to do interaction based testing as opposed to state based testing?

  Hi, When I use Easymock(or a similar mocking framework) to implement my unit tests, I'm forced to do interaction-based testing (as I don't get to assert on the state of my dependencies. Or am I mistaken?). On the other hand if I use a hand written stub (instead of using easymock) I can implement state based testing. I'm quite unclear if I want to go with interaction based testing or state based testing. I'm biased and I want to use Easymock, but I'm not sure if there would be any side-effects that I may have to face in the future. Can anyone please throw some light on this? Thanks in advance!

• JQuery Validation using Remote posts empty data to webservice

  I'm using the JQuery Validation plugin. I'm using the remote option to make a call to my webservice to check if a company name exists. The webservice only accepts JSON data. I pass the data to the webservice from the Company Input Field in my Form as follows: data: "{'company': '" + $('#Company').val() + "'}" But this always returns a blank value for company so the response is {'company':''} i.e. correct JSON but missing the Company Input Field value. Can anyone shed some light on why I always get a blank value here? Thanks for the help, Ciaran

  I noticed something weird when using a query in a snippet. When I have a query like this: $sql = 'SELECT * FROM table WHERE colomn = ' . $variable; And I echo $sql, the query reads: SELECT * FROM table WHERE colomn = <code class="php plain">2</code> .. wich will result in an error because the sql is no longer valid. So for now I use strip_tags to remove the code tag, but I find it not a very clean method. I couldnt find anything about this, so maybe someone can shed some light on this for me?

In my Windows phone7 app I need to use a light weight relational DB Which didn't introduce with version 7.0 but SQL CE with 7.1 version. The problem is if I select the target version as 7.1, then the devices which came up with windows phone7 OS 7.0 will not be able to install this. But I heard that all the devices that came with windows phone7 OS version 7.0 is upgradable for windows OS version 7.1 for free. If this is the case then if I select the development SDK version as 7.1, then will all the windows phone7 devices be able to install this?   Dear experts, I would like to implement a API of Javascript that sort of resemble a light switch. For instance, there are two buttons on the actual HTML page act as the UI. Both of the buttons have event handlers that invokes a different function. Each function have codes that act like a state, for instance. button1.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //code effects 2 ) } button2.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //Code effects 2 ) } I the code works fine on the surface but the 2 state functions overlap. the effects is going to take place for the rest of the way until the next reload of the document. Basically what I want to achieve is that when 1 button is clicked, it will switch "OFF" the state of function invoked by the other button and vice versa. Thus, the effects achieved are unique are not overlapped. Is there anyway to achieve this or could any experts point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.
