    In c# there are attributes such as [obsolete] that create compiler warnings that will be shown in visual studio. Is there an attribute that I can use to mark a method or a class with a comment that should be shown as a warning in visual studio when I compile? Something like: [TBD(Msg="Please change me after 2010 07 20")] public void Foo(){ } or is there a possibility that I can derive from System.Attribute and make my own attribute, configuring visual studio so that it behaves as I described.

  • Can't convert the PocketPC project in Visual Studio 2010 project format

    Just downloaded the Visual Studio 2010 Premium and realized that can't compile the project, made for PDA! The error log in output window says: Loading D:\Work...\PDA2.csproj ... D:\Work...\PDA2.csproj : error : The project file 'D:\Work...\PDA2.csproj' cannot be opened. The project type is not supported by this installation. I want to know if mobile development projects are supported in RTM version or they are deprecated?

  • ASP.NET application developed in 32 bit environment not working in 64 bit environment

    We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application. If we try to start the application on this new server using Visual Studios 2008's own web server (not IIS 7) we get the error below. We have tried to compile the application in both 32 as well as 64 bit mode. We also tried to compile to "Any CPU". But nothing helps. We also tried running Visual Studio as an administrator but without success. We get the following error: Server Error in '/' Application. The specified module could not be found.     I have the following c# classes: class A : Object { foo() {} } class B : Object { foo() {} } I want to write a generic method that applies to both: void bar<T>(T t) { t.foo(); } this does not compile complaining the foo() is not a member of T. I can add a constraint for T to derive from one of the classes: void bar<T>(T t) where T : A but how can I have it for both?

Replacing it with: return new string[] { "Test" }; Will obviously compile though. Is this inconsistancy or am i being stupid, or am i just wrong :S.

    I've inherited a web site I'm editing in dotnet and it won't compile because the class in one file (say class1.vb) refers to a class in another file (say class2) (like Dim m_c As class2) , but the compiler says "Type Class2 is not defined". when I look in the object browswer the classes are listed separately (i.e. not all grouped under the same namespace) and appear as: Public Class Class1 Inherits System.Object Member of C:...\mywebsite\ Help!, thanks.
