  • Ruby on Rails has_one Model Not Supplying ID Column

    - by Metric Scantlings
    I have a legacy rails (version 1.2.3) app which runs without issue on a number of servers (not to mention my local environment). Deployed to its newest server, though, and I now get ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: #23000Column 'video_id' cannot be null errors. Below are the models/relationships, simplified: class Video < ActiveRecord::Base has_one(:user, :dependent => :destroy) end class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to(:video) end And below is a rails console transcript of the relationships failing: >> video = Video.create(:title => 'New Video') => #<Video:0xb6d5e31c>... >> video.id => 5 >> video.user = User.create(:name => 'Tester') ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: #23000Column 'video_id' cannot be null: INSERT INTO users (`name`, `video_id`) VALUES('Tester', NULL) from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract_adapter.rb:128:in `log' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb:243:in `execute' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb:253:in `insert' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/base.rb:1811:in `create_without_callbacks' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/callbacks.rb:254:in `create_without_timestamps' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/timestamp.rb:39:in `create' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/base.rb:1789:in `create_or_update_without_callbacks' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/callbacks.rb:242:in `create_or_update' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/base.rb:1545:in `save_without_validation' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/validations.rb:752:in `save_without_transactions' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:129:in `save' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/database_statements.rb:59:in `transaction' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:95:in `transaction' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:121:in `transaction' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:129:in `save' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/base.rb:451:in `create' from (irb):3 from :0 Has anyone else come across ActiveRecord not sending an ID when it clearly knows it?

  • ASP.NET: Large number of Session_Start with same session id

    - by Jaap
I'm running a ASP.NET website on my development box (.NET 2.0 on Vista/IIS7). The Session_Start method in global.asax.cs logs every call to a file (log4net). The Session_End method also logs every call. I'm using InProc session state, and set the session timeout to 5 mins (to avoid waiting for 20 mins). I hit the website, wait for 5 minutes unit I see the Session_End logging. Then I F5 the website. The browsers still has the session cookie and sends it to the server. Session_Start is called and a new session is created using the same session id (btw: I need this to be the same session id, because it is used to store data in database). Result: Every time I hit F5 on a previously ended session, the Session_Start method is called. When I open a different browser, the Session_Start method is called just once. Then after 5 minutes the Session_End each F5 causes the Session_Start method to execute. Can anyone explain why this is happening? Update: After the Session timeout, all subsequent requests have a session start & session end. So in the end my question is: why are the sessions on these subsequent request closed immediatly? 2010-02-09 14:49:08,754 INFO Global.asax[7486] [(null)] - Session started. • A C# app that references a C# dll which uses Enterprise Library is throwing an error

    - by Matt
I have a C# app that references another C# dll which in turn uses Enterprise Library. Because my app has no config xml file for setting the Enterprise Library settings, it is throwing an error, specifically: "The configuration section for Logging cannot be found in the configuration source." "Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Logging" I would rather not add an XML config file to my app to just turn off Enterprise Library. Is there a code way to do so in my the source for my app? EDIT: I'm on EL 4.1

  • Win32 API P-Invoke to bring a disk online, offline, and set unique ID

    - by Andy Schneider
I am currently using Diskpart to accomplish these functions, but i would like to be able to use P-Invoke and not have to shell out to an external process in my C# app. The example Diskpart scripts are: //Online a disk Select disk 7 disk online // Reset GPT Identifier select disk 7 UNIQUEID DISK ID=baf784e7-6bbd-4cfb-aaac-e86c96e166ee I tried searching pinvoke.net but could only find functions that dealt with volumes, not disks. Any idea on how to accomplish these diskpart commands using Pinvoke?

  • Unique ID Defined by Most-Derived Class accessible through Base Class

    - by Narfanator
Okay, so, the idea is that I have a map of "components", which inherit from componentBase, and are keyed on an ID unique to the most-derived*. Only, I can't think of a good way to get this to work. I tried it with the constructor, but that doesn't work (Maybe I did it wrong). The problem with any virtual, etc, inheritance tricks are that the user has to impliment them at the bottom, which can be forgotten and makes it less... clean. *Right phrase? If - is inheritance; foo is most-derived: foo-foo1-foo2-componentBase Here's some code showing the problem, and why CRTP can't cut it: (No, it's not legit code, but I'm trying to get my thoughts down) #include<map> class componentBase { public: virtual static char idFunction() = 0; }; template <class T> class component : public virtual componentBase { public: static char idFunction(){ return reinterpret_cast<char>(&idFunction); } }; class intermediateDerivations1 : public virtual component<intermediateDerivations1> { }; class intermediateDerivations2 : public virtual component<intermediateDerivations2> { }; class derived1 : public intermediateDerivations1 { }; class derived2 : public intermediateDerivations1 { }; //How the unique ID gets used (more or less) std::map<char, componentBase*> TheMap; template<class T> void addToMap(componentBase * c) { TheMap[T::idFunction()] = c; } template<class T> T * getFromMap() { return TheMap[T::idFunction()]; } int main() { //In each case, the key needs to be different. //For these, the CRTP should do it: getFromMap<intermediateDerivations1>(); getFromMap<intermediateDerivations2>(); //But not for these. getFromMap<derived1>(); getFromMap<derived2>(); return 0; } More or less, I need something that is always there, no matter what the user does, and has a sortable value that's unique to the most-derived class. Also, I realize this isn't the best-asked question, I'm actually having some unexpected difficultly wrapping my head around it in words, so ask questions if/when you need clarification.

  • Rails app w/ 2.2.0 embedd how to use ruby 1.8 vice 1.9

    - by Barb
Hello all, I have just downloaded an app that is based on Rail 2.2.0 which is included in the app. I have just upgraded to Ruby 1.9 and I still have Ruby 1.8 on my machine. Is there a way I can tell this app to use Ruby 1.8 vice 1.9? Would it be easier to decouple the app from Rails 2.2.0 and upgrade it to Rails 2.3.6? If changing the rails would be easier, how do I do that?

  • App.Config vs. AppName.exe.Config

    - by Randy Minder
I'm building a Windows Service app that has configuration data stored in App.Config. However, I noticed that when I build my application a AppName.Exe.Config is generated. Can someone tell me the relationship between these two files? Is the AppName.Exe.Config file what I install with my Windows Service app, instead of the app.config? Thanks - Randy

  • app icon not showing in iphone simulator

    - by Ben Collins
I have a 57x57 PNG file in the root of my bundle, and the "Icon file" setting in my .plist file has the correct filename, but when the app is installed to the simulator, the icon is the default grey/white one. I've tried deleting my app from the simulator (both through the simulator and through rm -rf on the app directory from the console), I've tried cleaning my target, and I've tried renaming my app icon, all to no avail. What do I have to do to get the icon showing?

  • Public Cell ID databases

    - by Alejandro Mezcua
Hi. I'm building a location aware mobile application which uses GPS, but i'd like to be able to add cell location too. The best thing I have found so far is to use Google Gears, which has a location API available, but my application is not web based. Are there any good public cell id databases that can be accessed from any kind of application? I have found a few interesting projects out there like OpenCellID, but the database is very poor right now.

  • How to upgrade a VB6 app with .NET components

    - by Craig Johnston
I want to make a change to a VB6 app which consists of a .EXE, no VB6 DLLs but a handful of .NET DLLs. The interop is achieved by a one of the .NET dlls being referenced by the VB6 app which seems to require REGASM-ing of an associated .tlb file. If I want to change only the VB6 app .exe, could I just compile it and drop it into the app folder on existing installations or are there going to be binding issues?
