• Juniper SSL-VPN Application Data encoding

  Hi, I want to know how the request & response from the VPN server on e.g.: https://host.tld/dana/jw?con=1234567890&seqno=7 is encoded, the output seems to be binary. I assume it is the application data which gets exchanged with this request, am I right in this? If not, what else gets transferred over this, what is contained in the response? I'm pretty new to this product and want to understand how it works in deep. Thanks in advance folks.

• Setting up Lan within a Lan

  How unreasonable would it be to setup a small LAN within an existing LAN? I'm setting up a series of video surveillance servers and a number of IP cameras in a client's location and cannot have my equipment on the same network as their local machines. My network is essentially self-contained and the only device that anyone needs to access is a web-app on one of the machines. Basically I'm thinking of installing a SOHO router which would uplink to their LAN, and then set up some NAT rules on both their router and my router, to allow outside access to the webserver. Is there anything fundamental that i'm missing which would prevent this from working?

• Error on clicking on Text to Speech tab in Speech properties in Control Panel

  When I click on Text to Speech tab in Speech properties I receive error: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Speech\sapi.cpl",Speech". There's a hotfix mentioned the the KBs in MS support.For that MS sent me a password protected file ; 170483_ENU_i386_zip.exe which contained two files : WindowsXP-KB838659-x86-ENU.EXE and WINDOWSXP-KB838659-X86-ENU-Symbols.EXE . The first one did not install as it said i already had it and the second one unpacked some dlls which i don't know how to use. I also tried Re-registering sapi.dll on Windows XP using C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe Is there any other fix to this error?

  This may seem like a strange question because it involves a non-traditional approach. What I'm looking for is a standard rackmount cooling/humidity control module. The idea is to build a portable server rack (in a case) that can be deployed to the field but limit the cooling/temperature control requirements to just the case that the server gear is contained in. I understand that the chiller may warm it's surrounding environment so, as an additional approach, it will be possible to have a separate case for the chiller alone. Do these exist? What are they called? Where can I find one?

  Some of my servers collect a lot of packet data. Is there a utility (or patch to tcpdump(1)) to log a pcap stream to disk which: Rotates based on size of data written Prunes written files, keeping only the N most recent Does not re-use output filenames Is self-contained (Ruling out, e.g., a rotation with external pruning via crond(8)+tmpwatch(8)) Basically I want a multilog or svlogd that groks the pcap record format. The -W filecount option of tcpdump-4.0.0 "prunes" by recycling old filenames, which violates #3 above, forcing me to consult mtimes to determine recency and providing no guarantees against surprise truncation of the log file. The -G option introduces strftime(2)-specifier support in output filenames, which would give me at least second-precision in file names, but I can't figure out how to get pruning to work with this scheme.

• Problem modifying read-only files on Samba NAS

  Hi, I have files on a Samba server in the local company network and accessing them from a Windows Vista machine. Usually, if I want to delete a directory containing write-protected (read-only) files, Windows would ask "This file is read-only, are you sure?". However, when I do this with a dir on the server, Windows just tells me that I need permissions. The workaround is to remove the read-only flag from the directory and all contained files and then deleting. However, I have a TortoiseSVN versioned dir on the server, and the .svn dirs contain read-only files. I need to remove the read-only flags from the dir before every commit, or else it fails. This is quite distressing and shouldn't be so. Does someone know how to attack this problem? (If someone knows how to tell TortoiseSVN to not make its files read-only, that would probably be ok as well) ... Thanks!

  I have added a cert to my application cacerts file. The new cert is issued to one DNS(abc.com) and they have added few other DNS(XYZ.com, TEST.com) to the SAN attribute while creating. I tried accessing one of the DNS(XYZ.com) given in SAN attribute, it throws me the below mentioned error. <Certificate chain received from XYZ.com failed hostname verification check. Certificate contained abc.com but check expected XYZ.com> If we have more DNS for an application, Do we need to generate cert for every single DNS?

• tar fails to open .tar file on OS X

  I need to unarchive a file to the /Developer folder. My file is in /Users/User/Desktop/VMware/Downloads And I am trying tar -xf qt-everywhere-ios-4.8.0-arm7-nossl.tar.gz -C /Developer and keep getting: Lions-Mac:Downloads User$ tar -xf qt-everywhere-ios-4.8.0-arm7-nossl.tar -C /Developer tar: Error opening archive: Failed to open 'qt-everywhere-ios-4.8.0-arm7-nossl.tar' How can I achieve this? Install Qt for iOS SDK The Qt for iOS SDK has been configured to be installed in the default Xcode installation location /Developer. It is not possible to install the SDK into another location without first rebuilding it, as the install location is contained within the qmake executable, and that is built as part of Qt. • Does the Windows "Sources" folder need copied to C: like the "i386" folder did?

  On all flavors of Windows prior to Windows Vista, the Windows install CD contained a folder called i386. After installing Windows, this folder is suppose to be copied to the C: drive. Once the folder has been copied, if user is ever installing a program or windows updates that require the Windows install CD, it will retrieve the files from the hard drive INSTEAD of prompting for the Windows CD. On new versions of Windows, including Windows Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2, the i386 folder has been renamed to "sources". Should this folder be copied to the hard drive? Or do the new versions of Windows work differently (i.e. by installing all features on the hard drive to eliminate the need for ever prompting the user to insert their disc.) It does not hurt to copy the sources folder, so I have been doing it. But if I could eliminate time wasted it would make installations faster which helps my customers' bottom line.

• What's the simplest way to serve RhodeCode over HTTPS on windows?

  I have RhodeCode working with http using the paster serve tool that it comes with... I'm struggling to find a "simple" solution to get this running on HTTPS. A lot of discussion is about using Apache to do this on unix. Not a lot of info on how to do it on IIS. I was looking at paster serve and it seems to be able to serve using HTTPS, but can't quite work out how to get this going. However the real goal is just to serve RhodeCode over HTTPS in the simplest way possible ( all self contained would be brilliant).

• SQL Server: "This filegroup cannot be used as a backup destination" error when attempting restore

  When running a command like the following: "RESTORE FILELISTONLY FROM DISK='\\\\server\\folder\\DummyDB.bak'" I'm getting this error: Backup destination "\\server" supports a FILESTREAM filegroup. This filegroup cannot be used as a backup destination. Rerun the BACKUP statement with a valid backup destination. RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally. Unless someone comes up with a better idea, it seems that the drive from which restore is being attempted must not contain any database file contained in a filegroup. Is that the case?   I'm migrating from an archaic version of Red Hat to Ubuntu 9. When going through my old nfs mount script, I found that it contained the -P option. So my script looks like: sudo mount -t nfs -o -P ... It looks like the -P is one of the -o options. My question is: what does the -P option do? I've searched every man page I can find, with no luck. Could it have to do with privileged ports?

• Where does Picasa store albums?

  For people searching, the question might also be phrased: How do I restore Picasa albums from backup? When I reinstalled my computer and restored my photos from backup, some of my albums showed up, but many didn't. I've found the following info: Picasa on Windows stores (stored?) album info in these places: Vista: C:\Users\<myaccount>\AppData\Local\Google\Picasa2Albums\ XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<myaccount>\Local Settings\Application Data\google\Picasa2Albums\ I restored that folder and was still missing many of my albums. That folder also contained a folder of backups, but the most recent one was from a long time ago and I've created albums since then. According to https://support.google.com/picasa/bin/picasa.google.com/support/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=release_notes.cs, since the Dec 8, 2011 build, Picasa saves album info in .ini file(s). This probably explains the albums that I do see. http://katelharrison.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-restore-picasa-albums-mac.html has some great info on restoring albums on Macs, but the folder structure seems to be different there than on Windows.

  I have a bootable DVD which boots the same Kernel as the Hard Drive (which uses SELinux). I have copied /etc/selinux and all kernel modules to my ramdisk, and have tried various combinations of selinux=1 and selinux 1 with enforcing 1 and enforcing 0. as Kernel boot parameters. All files contained in the checkpolicy, libselinux, policycoreutils, selinux-policy and selinux-policy-targeted rpms have also been copied into the ramdisk tree. After the system boots from the ramdisk, I check dmesg: % dmesg | grep -i selinux Kernel command line: initrd=idrd.img ramdisk_size=110476 selinux=1 SELinux: Initializing. SELinux: Starting in permissive mode selinux_register_security: Registering secondary module capability SElinux: Registering netfilter hooks But SELinux isn't running: % /usr/sbin/getenforce Disabled % /usr/sbin/setenforce 1 /usr/sbin/setenforce: SELinux is disabled Neither /var/log/messages nor /proc/kmsg hold clues.

• Error burning DVD using Devede on Ubuntu 9.04

  I'm trying to burn a DVD in DeVeDe under ubuntu -- on my computer it's already in DVD format (a VIDEO_TS folder) but when I try and drag it into DeVeDe it says "Some files weren't video files. None added." From looking at it, all the files look like they belong there, just from doing this a few times already and seeing all the files contained in a DVD. The file extensions in the folder are: VOB BUP IFO and the files are all named like VTS_02_1.VOB. I have tried excluding the IFO files when dragging them into DeVeDe but get the same error. Is the problem in the types of files in the DVD data or is the DVD corrupt?

• eMail with Conflicting Headers not blocked in MS365

  On occasion, a company receives eMail with two header fields (“Received” and “From”) containing data that contradict each other drastically. Should they not expect their anti-spam system to flag or block items with contradictions in these fields? For example, they received an eMail which contained [almost exactly] these two headers: Received: from [107.52.51.26] by web315204.mail.ne1.yahoo.com via HTTP; Mon,28 Oct 2013 04:28:04 PDT From: Barry Smith [email protected] Obviously, eMail from an @att.net address isn’t coming from a server on the domain yahoo.com, and Yahoo isn’t forwarding AT&T’s eMail. There were no other headers indicating that the item was sent “OnBehalfOf”, or “Forwarded-by”, or “By_Proxy” or any other such. Should I write a utility to scan incoming eMail for such conflicts, or look more closely at their spam filtering to block this kind of eMail? Their eMail system is Hosted Exchange on MS-365. My central question is, where specifically do I look in MS-365 to get this type of conflicted eMail blocked?

• Which Message Queue should I choose (must run on Linux)

  There are many open source Message queues for Linux, and I need some help deciding what I should go for. My problem is simple - I get sent a list of files that needs to be processed. Each job can't be split up, but they are self contained and can be spread to multiple computers. I'm thinking of solving this using a message queue. Multiple clients send a message to a central queue. Each queue has a number of subscribers that will take jobs from that queue when they have finished processing the current job. Ideally it should have the following qualities Message queue must be able to store unprocessed messages in case of a shutdown/reboot A job can only be processed by a single subscriber (don't want duplicate jobs) The subscribers should be able to send jobs of their own, that will be processed by a different set of subscribers. Can anyone suggest a simple to use message queue?

  I'm following this tutorial to setup a Postfix/Dovecot mail server with Postfix Admin as a web front end. As regards directory structure for virtual mail users, the author of the tutorial writes: Virtual mail users are those that do not exist as Unix system users. They thus don't use the standard Unix methods of authentication or mail delivery and don't have home directories. That is how we are managing things here: mail users are defined in the database created by Postfix Admin rather than existing as system users. Mail will be kept in subfolders per domain and account under /var/vmail - e.g. [email protected] will have a mail directory of /var/vmail/example.com/me. • Automated method to convert .reg registry file to reg.exe commands

  Occasionally I need to put registry entries into batch files to use in login scripts, unattended installers, etc. While it's pretty easy to add one or two registry commands to a batch file using reg.exe, when there is a large amount of registry data, it becomes tedious. I usually just end up merging an external reg file in those cases, which I would like to avoid, since it ruins the self-contained nature of the batch file. Does anybody know of any tools which can automatically convert a .reg file to a series of REG ADD and REG DELETE commands? This would make life a lot easier! Thanks.

  I want a cheap multi-function printer for Linux usage. I'm looking for rock solid scanning and printing that works with big images. I'd prefer drivers that are available in Debian, or other drivers that are open source, but will settle for proprietary drivers if they are well contained and clean. Some choices I have are: Samsung SCX-4300 HP LaserJet M1120 MFP Samsung SCX-4500 Canon i-SENSYS MF4010 Brother DCP-7040 I am also interested in opinions what printer communication language is best for Linux usage for cheap printers. PostScript is nice, of course, but low-end PostScript printers often have problems when printing complex (large) PostScript files. It seems Samsung printers use SPL for communication, HP uses XQX and ZJS, then there's ofcourse PCL.

• How to get the Three.js import/export scripts into Blender on Ubuntu?

  I have been working with 3D primitives in Three.js, but now I want to import some models. I plan on using Blender, which I have just downloaded with: sudo apt-get install blender However, I was instructed to put the import/export scripts in the .blender/2.62/scripts/addons folder, but it does not exist! .blender/2.62 does exist, but it only has a config folder. The next thing I did is manually changed the script search path in Blender's preferences from // to my homefolder/scripts, which contained the required io_mesh_threejs folder (which, in turn had the .py scripts inside). I saved the changes, restarted Blender, but still nothing: in the menu there is no mention of Three.js at all! What do I do? It would be great if I knew the installation path for Blender, because maybe I could put those scripts there manually. Where should it be installed? • How to make VLC show single FLAC file containing many tracks as separate tracks

  I have a single .flac file that encompasses multiple tracks comprising a music album along with the corresponding .cue file. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with VLC player, and am trying to get VLC player to show the individual tracks and allow me to use the previous and next controls to move back and forth between tracks. The problem I'm having is that when I open the single .flac file with VLC, it just shows a single track the duration of the entire album, and I'm unable to skip back and forth between tracks. Is there any way to have VLC show the individual tracks contained within a .flac file without having to pre-split the .flac file into individual track files first?

• concatenate files including path in header - path contains spaces

  I have to concatenate a number of files in a directory structure which contains spaces in the folder names looking like this: ./CH 0000100014/A10/11XT/11xt#001.csv find . -name "*.csv" -type f -print0 | xargs -0 cat > allmycsv.txt does the job, however now I need to include the information contained in the path, i.e. CH 0000100014/A10/11XT as a header of each inputfile to cat. find . -name "*.csv" -type f -print0 | xargs -0 -I % sh -c 'echo %; cat %' >allmycsv.txt would do the job, if I had no spaces in the path, but in my case, cat does not get along with the space in the path name. • Exchange mail users cannot send to certain lists

  First of all, everyone's on Exchange 2010 using OWA I have a dynamic distribution list that contains all users in my domain called 'staff'. I can send to this list, other people can send to this list, but I have one user that cannot send to this list. Sending to this list gives the user an email back with the error: Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: Staff The e-mail address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's e-mail address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. and then a bunch of diagnostic information that I don't want to paste here because I don't want to have to censor all of the sensitive information contained (lazy) Can you guys throw me some possible reasons why this would happen? If there are an innumerable number of reasons, where should I start to troubleshoot this? EDIT One Exchange server inside the network that acts as a transport server, client access server and mailbox server and one Edge Transport server in the DMZ.
