  • Closing InfoWindow with Google Maps API V3

    - by Oscar Godson
    I've seen the other posts, but they dont have the markers being looped through dynamically like mine. How do I create an event that will close the infowindow when another marker is clicked on using the following code? $(function(){ var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(45.522015,-122.683811); var settings = { zoom: 10, center: latlng, disableDefaultUI:false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), settings); $.getJSON('api',function(json){ for (var property in json) { if (json.hasOwnProperty(property)) { var json_data = json[property]; var the_marker = new google.maps.Marker({ title:json_data.item.headline, map:map, clickable:true, position:new google.maps.LatLng( parseFloat(json_data.item.geoarray[0].latitude), parseFloat(json_data.item.geoarray[0].longitude) ) }); function buildHandler(map, marker, content) { return function() { var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({ content: '<div class="marker"><h1>'+content.headline+'</h1><p>'+content.full_content+'</p></div>' }); infowindow.open(map, marker); }; } new google.maps.event.addListener(the_marker, 'click',buildHandler(map, the_marker, {'headline':json_data.item.headline,'full_content':json_data.item.full_content})); } } }); });

  • Old fashioned html onclick return false doesnt in IE work when jquery script included

    - by user292662
    Ok, so im quite new to jquery but found this bizzar problem just now, If we ignore jquery for a second and consider this scenario, if i have two links like below both with an href and both with and onclick event. The first link will not follow the href because the onclick returns false, and the second link will because the onclick returns true. <a href="/page.html" onclick="return false;">Dont follow</a> <a href="/page.html" onclick="return false;">Follow</a> This works just hunky dory in every browser as it should, the thing is, as soon as i include the jQuery script on the page this stops working in all versions of IE which then always follows the href whether the onclick returns false or not. (it continues to work fine in other browsers) Now if i add an event using jquery and call .preventDefault() on the event object instead of doing it the old fashioned way this behaves correctly, and you may say, well just do that then? But i have a site with thousands of lines of code and i am adding jquery support, i dont want to run the risk that i might miss an already defined html onclick="" and break the website. I cant see why jQuery should prevent perfectly normal javascript concepts from working, so is this a jQuery bug or am I missing something?

  • Is there a way to TouchEndInside in Mobile Safari?

    - by Ken Sykora
    I'm trying to determine whether a users does a touchupinside in mobile safari for an iPhone web app. So far I've been unsuccessful. touchend event fires regardless of where the touchup event happens on the screen, and I can't seem to discern that the target has changed by anything in the event argument. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to capture a touchendinside (vs. touchendoutside) event using javascript? $('a.arrow').bind('touchend',function(e) { console.log($(e.srcElement)); //both of these always return the same element console.log($(e.toElement)); //both of these always return the same element });

  • Any difference between lazy loading Javascript files vs. placing just before </body>

    - by mhr
    Looked around, couldn't find this specific question discussed. Pretty sure the difference is negligible, just curious as to your thoughts. Scenario: All Javascript that doesn't need to be loaded before page render has been placed just before the closing </body> tag. Are there any benefits or detriments to lazy loading these instead through some Javascript code in the head that executes when the DOM load/ready event is fired? Let's say that this only concerns downloading one entire .js file full of functions and not lazy loading several individual files as needed upon usage. Hope that's clear, thanks.

In my example above, those required files being Two.js and Three.js.

  • Page_load event firing twice. User control not properly loading

    Here is the code I am using to pull my usercontrol (content.ascx): Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load 'load module If TheModule = "content" Then Dim control As UserControl = LoadControl("~\Modules\Content.ascx") Controls.Add(control) End If End Sub Within the usercontrol is the following code (data access taken care of by DAAB and ive replaced sql statements with 'sql'): Imports System.Data.SqlClient Imports System.Data Imports System.Web.Configuration Imports Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common Imports Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data Partial Class Modules_WebUserControl Inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl Dim db As Database = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase() Dim command As SqlCommand 'database Dim reader As IDataReader 'general vars Dim pageid As Integer Dim did As Integer Dim contentid As Integer Dim dotpos As String Dim ext As String Dim content As String Dim folder As String Dim downloadstring As String Function getimage(ByVal strin As String) As String If strin > "" Then dotpos = InStrRev(strin, ".") ext = Right(strin, Len(strin) - dotpos) getimage = ext & ".gif" Else getimage = String.Empty End If Return getimage End Function Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load, Me.Load 'test Response.Write("(1 Test from within page_load)") 'get session vars folder = Session("folder") pageid = Session("pageid") did = Session("did") 'main content command = db.GetSqlStringCommand("sql") db.AddInParameter(command, "@pageid", DbType.Int32, pageid) reader = db.ExecuteReader(command) While reader.Read If reader("content") IsNot DBNull.Value Then content = Replace(reader("content"), Chr(38) + Chr(97) + Chr(109) + Chr(112) + Chr(59) + Chr(98) + Chr(104) + Chr(99) + Chr(112) + Chr(61) + Chr(49), "") If reader("id") IsNot DBNull.Value Then contentid = reader("id") End If Else contentid = -1 content = String.Empty End If End While Outputcontent.Text = content 'contacts info If did = 0 Then command = db.GetSqlStringCommand("sql") db.AddInParameter(command, "@contentid", DbType.Int32, contentid) reader = db.ExecuteReader(command) While reader.Read() Contactinforepeater.DataSource = reader Contactinforepeater.DataBind() End While End If If Not did = 0 Then command = (db.GetSqlStringCommand("sql") db.AddInParameter(command, "@contentid", DbType.Int32, contentid) db.AddInParameter(command, "@did", DbType.Int32, did) reader = db.ExecuteReader(command) While reader.Read Contactinforepeater.DataSource = reader Contactinforepeater.DataBind() End While End If 'downloads box command = db.GetSqlStringCommand("sql") db.AddInParameter(command, "@contentid", DbType.Int32, contentid) reader = db.ExecuteReader(command) While reader.Read If reader("filename") IsNot DBNull.Value Then downloadstring += "<a href='/documents/" & folder & "/" & reader("filename") & "'>" downloadstring += "<img src=images/" & getimage(reader("filename")) & " border=0 align=absmiddle />" End If If reader("filesize") IsNot DBNull.Value Then downloadstring += Convert.ToInt32((reader("filesize") / 1000)) & "kb - " End If If reader("filename") IsNot DBNull.Value Then downloadstring += "<a href='/documents/" & Session("folder") & "/" & reader("filename") & "'>" & reader("description") & "</a><br />" End If End While Dim downloadsarray As ArrayList downloadsarray = New ArrayList If downloadstring IsNot Nothing Then downloadsarray.Add(downloadstring) End If If downloadsarray.Count > 0 Then DownloadsRepeater.DataSource = downloadsarray DownloadsRepeater.DataBind() End If 'get links command = db.GetSqlStringCommand("sql") db.AddInParameter(command, "@contentid", DbType.Int32, contentid) reader = db.ExecuteReader(command) While reader.Read Linksrepeater.DataSource = reader Linksrepeater.DataBind() End While End Sub End Class Now instead of seeing my page content and what should be within the repeaters on the page all I get is 2 x the output of Response.Write("(1 Test from within page_load)") (1 Test from within page_load)(1 Test from within page_load) This leads me to believe the page_load is firing twice, but not properly displaying all the information. Please can one of you willing experts help me to get this working? Thanks a lot in advance

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    - by user268249
    The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly. Thanks for any help in advance!

  • NHibernate listener/event to replace object before insert/update

    - by vIceBerg
    Hi! I have a Company class which have a collection of Address. Here's my Address class:(written top of my head): public class Address { public string Civic; public string Street; public City City; } This is the City class: public class City { public int Id; public string Name; public string SearchableName{ get { //code } } } Address is persisted in his own table and have a reference to the city's ID. City are also persisted in is own table. The City's SearchableName is used to prevent some mistakes in the city the user type. For example, if the city name is "Montréal", the searchable name will be "montreal". If the city name is "St. John", the searchable name will be "stjohn", etc. It's used mainly to to search and to prevent having multiple cities with a typo in it. When I save an address, I want an listener/event to check if the city is already in the database. If so, cancel the insert and replace the user's city with the database one. I would like the same behavior with updates. I tried this: public bool OnPreInsert(PreInsertEvent @event) { City entity = (@event.Entity as City); if (entity != null) { if (entity.Id == 0) { var city = (from c in @event.Session.Linq<City>() where c.SearchableName == entity.SearchableName select c).SingleOrDefault(); if (city != null) { //don't know what to do here return true; } } } return false; } But if there's already a City in the database, I don't know what to do. @event.Entity is readonly, if I set @event.Entity.Id, I get an "null identifier" exception. I tried to trap insert/update on Address and on Company, but the City if the first one to get inserted (it's logic...) Any thoughts? Thanks

  • How should I handle "real time" events in an online strategy game?

    - by Hojat Taheri
    Some online strategy games have real time events. For example when you send troops to attack somewhere, the attack happens at the right time in the future. Checking the database again and again to get the list of attacks happening each second would cause heavy load. Is there any technique to achieve this goal? Another example: You want to attack a village 3 hours away, you send troops and the attack occurs 3 hours later. Should there be an script to check the database at each second to run the query at the specified time?

  • Problem with keyPress in Mozilla

    - by sudhansu
    I am usingtextarea to get some inputs. A label shows the updated chars left. It works fine in IE, but in FF 3.0, after reaching the max limit, it doesn't allow to delete or backspace key. I am using a javascript function on keypress event of the textarea. the javascript code is function checkLength() { var opinion = document.getElementById('opinion').value; if(opinion.length > 50) alert("You have reached the mas limit."); else document.getElementById('limit').innerHTML = 50 - opinion.length; } while on the page, i am using this <label id="limit">50 </label> <textarea id="opTxtArea" onkeypress="javascript:checkLength();"></textarea> Everything is working fine. The problem arises in FF, when the inputs reach the max limit, the message is displayed, but it doesn't allow to delete or backspace.

  • Binding mousemove within mousedown function with jQuery

    - by colinjameswebb
    I am trying to bind a mousemove event to a div when the left mousebutton is down, and unbind when it is released. This code should be fairly self-explainatory. function handleMouseDown(e, sbar){ if (e.button == 0){ console.log(sbar); //firebug sbar.bind('mousemove', function(event){ handleMouseMove(event, sbar); }); } } function handleMouseUp(e, sbar){ sbar.unbind('mousemove'); } function handleMouseMove(e, sbar){ // not sure it this will work yet, but unimportant $(".position").html(e.pageX); } $(document).ready(function (){ var statusbar = $(".statusbar"); statusbar.mousedown(function(event){ handleMouseDown(event, this); }); statusbar.mouseup(function(event){ handleMouseUp(event, this); }); }); The important part of the HTML looks like this <div id="main"> <div class="statusbar"> <p class="position"></p> </div> </div> Firebug says that the bind methods are undefined on the variable sbar within handleMouseDown and handleMouseUp. The firebug console prints out <div class="statusbar"> for the line commented //firebug. I'm doing something wrong, probably when binding the mousedown and mouseup... but what?! I'm using jQuery v1.4.2, if that helps?

  • How to use keyword this in a mouse wrapper in right context in Javascript?

    - by MartyIX
    Hi, I'm trying to write a simple wrapper for mouse behaviour. This is my current code: function MouseWrapper() { this.mouseDown = 0; this.OnMouseDownEvent = null; this.OnMouseUpEvent = null; document.body.onmousedown = this.OnMouseDown; document.body.onmouseup = this.OnMouseUp; } MouseWrapper.prototype.Subscribe = function (eventName, fn) { // Subscribe a function to the event if (eventName == 'MouseDown') { this.OnMouseDownEvent = fn; } else if (eventName == 'MouseUp') { this.OnMouseUpEvent = fn; } else { alert('Subscribe: Unknown event.'); } } MouseWrapper.prototype.OnMouseDown = function () { this.mouseDown = 1; // Fire event $.dump(this.OnMouseDownEvent); if (this.OnMouseDownEvent != null) { alert('test'); this.OnMouseDownEvent(); } } MouseWrapper.prototype.OnMouseUp = function () { this.mouseDown = 0; // Fire event if (this.OnMouseUpEvent != null) { this.OnMouseUpEvent(); } } From what I gathered it seems that in MouseWrapper.prototype.OnMouseUp and MouseWrapper.prototype.OnMouseDown the keyword "this" doesn't mean current instance of MouseWrapper but something else. And it makes sense that it doesn't point to my instance but how to solve the problem? I want to solve the problem properly I don't want to use something dirty. My thinking: * use a singleton pattern (mouse is only one after all) * pass somehow my instance to OnMouseDown/Up - how? Thank you for help!

  • C# event handlers not thread safe?

    So i've read around that instead of calling a event directly with if (SomeEvent != null) SomeEvent(this, null); i should be doing SomeEventHandler temp = SomeEvent; if (temp != null) temp(this, null); Why is this so? How does the second version become thread safe? What is the best practice?

  • The Elegant way to handle Cyclic Event in Java ??

    - by dex
    Hi fellows, i think this not a specific problem to me; everybody might have encountered this issue before. To properly illustrate it, here's a simple UI: As you can see, those two spinners are controlling a single variable -- "A". The only difference is that they control it using different views. If i change the top spinner, "A" will be changed and the bottom spinner's value will also be updated accordingly. However, updating the bottom spinner's call (such as setValue) will also trigger another event instructing the top spinner to update based on the bottom spinner's value. Thus creates a bad cycle which can eventually cause a StackOverFlow exception. My previously solution is kinda cumbersome: i placed a guarding boolean to indicate whether the 2nd updating call should be performed. Now i'd like to ask "how can i handle such situation elegantly?" thx

  • How to pass an event to a method and then subscribe to it?

    - by Ryan Peschel
    Event Handler public void DeliverEvent(object sender, EventArgs e) { } #1: This Works public void StartListening(Button source) { source.Click += DeliverEvent; } #2: And so does this.. public void StartListening(EventHandler eventHandler) { eventHandler += DeliverEvent; } But in #2, you cannot call the method because if you try something like this: StartListening(button.Click); You get this error: The event 'System.Windows.Forms.Control.Click' can only appear on the left hand side of += or -= Is there any way around that error? I want to be able to pass the event and not the object housing the event to the StartListening method.

  • Updating ToolStripProgressBar and ToolStripStatusLabel along with with an action

    - by TChristian
    In a Windows Form, I have a search box that fires an event to search a remote database and display some results. The query is pretty fast, usually just a fraction of a second, but in case the delay is noticeable there is a progress bar and label in the form's status bar. When the user clicks "Search" the status label should appear and the progress bar show some progress. Then when the result comes back the label should disappear and the progress bar should be full. Pretty basic response. The problem is, I can't get those actions to happen in that order. Using the code below, I click "Search", nothing happens until the results are displayed, and then the progress bar fills up from 0 to 100. The label never appears. I even threw in a sleep command immediately after the event to be sure I wasn't just missing it, but it's as if the first 2 statements are not being executed. What am I doing wrong here? private void searchButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { toolStripStatusLabel1.Visible = true; toolStripProgressBar1.Value = 20; m_changeRequestedEvents.Fire<String>("SearchTerm", searchTextBox.Text); toolStripProgressBar1.Value = 100; toolStripStatusLabel1.Visible = false; }
