• HTML, PHP No data in drop down box

  Hey, I am trying to figure out why a website's drop down box will not show any options. The data file for this drop down box comes from a microsoft access .mde file. The file is present and after the last update was working fine. Some changes happened to the site, i.e. text got added along with some photos. Im not saying this was when the drop down box went bad, but when it was discovered these were the only changes made. The data file seems fine as it is worked with everyday. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to begin looking for the bug? • Image display permissions in PHP/Apache

  I have a PHP site with a login system, and am trying to make a feature where only specific usernames can view particular images. I think what I'm trying to do is more involved than merely changing the .htaccess file, because a) this won't help discern between users that are/aren't allowed to view the image, and b) if someone enters the exact URL of the image ("directory/images/photos/230ru0q0238rn230nd_asdi0nqn8.jpg") they can still view the image (since it's a physical file in the directory, and not text in a DB, etc.). Again, restricting via .htaccess would restrict the directory as a whole, or all files in it, so I can't figure out how it would work. Ideally, all images would be blocked by trying to access them directly through their direct URL, and the image would only appear between <img> tags if the user's session/username is valid, else they get an error message. I've heard the term ACL but I'm not sure this is related to what I'm trying to do.

• How do I secure a folder used to let users upload files?

  I have a folder in my web server used for the users to upload photos using an ASP page. Is it safe enough to give IUSR write permissions to the folder? Must I secure something else? I am afraid of hackers bypassing the ASP page and uploading content directly to the folder. I'm using ASP classic and IIS6 on Windows 2003 Server. The upload is through HTTP, not FTP. • Serving images from Amazon S3 in PHP application

  So it just occurred to me that once I upload profile pics to S3, I have to figure out a way to keep track of the files. For example, if "susan" uploads 3 profile pics, I need to recall those 3 pictures and display it on her profile page if someone views her page. With that said, would the following work? User uploads picture from form Save file information (filename, user info, etc...) into DB and reference URL from S3 Upload photos to S3 When displaying pictures, I'll query the DB for the info and display the images from S3 accordingly.

  This is my script - it simply looks for the image file associated to a person record. Now the error will display if there is NO .jpg evident when the query runs. Msg 4860, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot bulk load. The file "C:\Dev\ClientServices\Defence\RAN\Shore\Config\Photos\002054.2009469432270600.001.jpg" does not exist.   Here's a function to calculate the digital sum of a number in J: digitalSum =: +/@:("."0)@": If I use b. to query the rank of this verb, I get _ 1 _, i.e., infinite. (We can ignore the dyadic case since digitalSum is not dyadic.) I would like the monadic rank of this verb to be 0, as reported by b.. The only way I know of to do this is to use a "shim", e.g., ds =: +/@:("."0)@": digitalSum =: ds"0 This works great, but I want to know whether it's the only way to do this, or if there's something else I'm missing.

• iPhone UIImage Display Controller

  Hello, I would like to be able to display a UIImage from within my app and support a lot of the functionality available in the built-in Photos app (i.e., pinch-to-zoom, pan, etc). I don't really want to write a bunch of code that someone has already written, so I'm wondering if there is a library out there already that I could just import into my project. I'm aware of the Three20 project, but I don't want to import a huge library if I don't have to. Is anyone aware of an available library that's already out there for displaying UIImages? Or part of some open-source project that can be pulled out on its own? Thanks!

• iphone app photo upload to server from app threads

  I have an app that needs to upload a least 5 photos to a server using API call available with the server. For that I am planning to use threads which will take care of photo upload and the main process can go on with the navigation of views etc. What I cant decide is whether it is OK to spawn five separate threads in iphone or use a single thread that will do the upload. In the later cases obviously it will become quite slow. Basically an HTTP POST request will be made to the server with the NSMutableURLRequest object using NSCOnnection. More threads mean more complexity and sync issues, but I can try to write code as neat as possible if it means better performance than a single thread which is simple but is a real stopper if performance is considered. Anybody with any experience in this kinda app. ??

  I'm developing commercial CMS running on Google App Engine. I'm thinking of selling it in two ways: 1) Software as a service (SaS). The CMS running in my App Engine account (as single app), hosting the sites of all customers. A turn-key solution for "end user" customers. 2) Licence for running the CMS in customer's own App Engine account. Targeted for digital agencies for reselling as SaS. Being not a lawyer myself, I don't trust my abilities to read between the lines of TOS jargon. Counting on the general knowledge of SO community, my question is: do the above scenarios violate the App Engine Terms of Service?

  Hello, I'm developing an project, which consists in a webservice and a client application. It's a fair simple scenario. The webservice is connected to a database server, and the client consumes from the webserver in order to get information retrieved from the database. The thing is: 1. The client application can only display data after a previous authentication; 2. All the data transferred between Web Service and clients must be confidential; 3. Data integrity shouldn’t be compromised; I'm wondering what is the best way to achieve these requirements. The first thing I thought about, was sending the server a digital signature containing a client certificate, to be stored in the server, and used as comparison for authentication. But I investigated a little about webservice security, and I'm no longer certain that this is the best option. Can anyone give me an opinion about this? TIA

  Need some help figuring out how to best Store Passwords, User information/Profile data and Photo/Video albums for a social website? For photos/videos the actual photo/video + even encrypting the URL with the IDs to the photo/videos so other users cannot figure it out. Creating a site like myspace and designing retirement documents but i am unsure how to specify the security requirements for the database. Two things: 1) Protect from outside users 2) Protect all these from employees being able to access this info For #2, the additional question is: If we encrypt the user info and password so even the system admins cannot get in, how can we retrieve the user data tomorrow if someone flags the user's account as spam and admin needs to check it out or if law enforcement wants info on a user? • Good overview tool / board for visualizing Subversion branch acitivity?

  Our team is sometimes finding it a bit confusing and time-consuming to figure out which subversion operations have been perrformed on our different branches in Subversion. Example, when has the Development branch last been merged into the Trunk? When was this particular Tag created, based on what branch etc etc. All of this information can of course be extracted from the Subversion Log, but thats always a manual, time-consuming and error-prone process. Simplest solution seems to be a simple whiteboard with a visualization of all the different branches/tags/trunk in Subversion and people drawing on it, whenever something significant happens. But we're not averse to finding some kind of a digital solution as well, stored centrally. Obviously both systems depend on people actually maintaining the model, but you'll always more or less have that. What do you use as best practice for keeping a clear view on all Subversion operations in the current Sprint (or beyond)?

• Webserver for publishing adjusted images

  I want to create webserver which will be receiving data (images probably) from webclients who will be uploading these photos. And then the webserver must execute some graphic programs (client select whichone) to modify the image(s). After the graphic program is done, the results (output image(s)) will be uploaded to the web temp database (by webserver) to publish results of graphic programs. I found the C++ web toolkit (http://www.webtoolkit.eu), but I'm not sure if this is a suitable C/C++ library for me because I haven't any experiences with making C/C++ web apps/servers. Can someone tell me some advice please? The webserver should have some SDK too, for adding next graphic programs. I'm searching only for any C/C++ tools/libraries/etc.

• Displaying a "Loading..." screen in a UITableView like the AppStore App...

  the App Store app and fairly a lot many apps display a view that says "Loading.." while the content is being retrieved. How can we do this? Should I remove the UITableView and call addSubView and then once the data is available, add the tableview back? Or is there any other shortcut? • Some little extra space is being added when a drop-down is on :focus

  My problem is that when I place :focus style for our dropdown lists like so: input, select { margin: 0; padding: 0; } select:focus { background: #FFC; } ...the dropdown with the focused selection suddenly has an extra spacing on all sides (1-2px spacing). See images below: It may seem unnoticable on the photos above but when you do a selection, the increase in padding/spacing cannot be missed. I already tried removing margin: 0, padding: 0, thinking that the :focus state might be reverting to the padded version but still the same. Has anybody encountered this problem? Only happens in Firefox.

  I'm using attachment_fu and Rmagick to create thumbnails after upload. The thumbnail is a fixed 135 x 135 px and I'm currently forcing the width to 135px on all photos. The problem is that if it's a wide and fat photo is has to stretch the height awkwardly.   I've got blocks of text with various specs in them and want to have jquery highlight whatever matches a specific pattern without inserting any extra html.   Hi, I'm trying to get the users full activity throughout the website. I need to Join many tables throughout the database, with that condition that it is one user. What I currently have written is: SELECT * FROM comments AS c JOIN rphotos AS r ON c.userID = r.userID AND c.userID = '$defineUserID'; But What it is returning is everything about the user, but it repeats rows. For instance, for one user he has 6 photos and 5 comments So I expect the join to return 11 rows. Instead it returns 30 results like so: PhotoID = 1; CommentID = 1; PhotoID = 1; CommentID = 2; PhotoID = 1; CommentID = 3; and so on... What am i doing wrong?

• Unable to sign an imported msi.dll assembly using tlbimp

  This seems so trivial, yet I can't get it to work.. I have an msi.dll wrapper (named Interop.WindowsInstaller.dll) which I need to sign. The way to do it is by signing it upon import (this specific case is even documented in MSDN: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/zec56a0w.aspx). BUT - no matter how I do it (w/ or w/o a keyfile, w/ or w/o adding "/delaysign"), the generated assemly's size is always 36,864 bytes and when viewing the DLL's properties there is no "Digital Signatures" tab (needless to say - the DLL is NOT signed). What am I missing here?? (... HELP!...)

• Browser graphics: Java Applet vs Flash vs anything else?

  Hello! We sell photoalbums which our customers create theirselves using a client album editor program (for Windows). Now we are going to develop an online program so customers could create their albums in the browser: upload photos and edit them. This is going to be a rich browser application with full graphics support. The problem is what technology to use? Our server application is build in Java and we think about Java Applets so that we could reuse some Java-code. We are also not very familiar with Flash. But some people say that Flash is preferred. Maybe there're some modern technologies now? SVG or some Google technologies (like GWT but with graphics support) or something? What do you think? Thanks in advance!
