    I have been asked to help a small non profit organasation with some IT problems. They currently have a mailing list of around 200 people saved on a mac inside adres book. Now currently these people are send emails in groups of around 20 as the standard apple email program does not allow more. I know that there are programs that can be used to send email to a larger number of people however these usually require a database and I'm not sure how to use those. Anybody got any tips?

  • Undo clicking chrome never save password on the mac

    Sometimes you may want to undo your choice of "Never for this site" when Chrome asks if you want to save a password. But on the mac clicking on the "Show saved passwords" in the Preferences opens the Keychain Access app and you have no way to remove that site from the exceptions list. This is obviously a bug. I suppose that deleting all saved passwords will do but I don't want to delete them all. Is there any other workaround? (Chrome 6.0.472.63)

  • Can one use Airport (Time Capsule) with an external DHCP server?

    I currently share my DSL connection using a wireless router with DHCP disabled, and dnsmasq running on a Mac Mini serving DHCP & DNS. This setup is important because I have clients doing PXE boot, and I need the control over DHCP that dnsmasq provides. There is also a Time Capsule on the network that's used purely as a backup device; its wireless functions are disabled. The wireless router is starting to get a little flaky, and since it doesn't support 802.11n I'd like to replace it. Rather than buying a new router, I'd like to just use the Time Capsule. But I see no way to disable its DHCP server; when I set the connection type to PPPoE, it insists on serving DHCP. Is there any way to use Airport PPPoE with a DHCP server elsewhere on the network?

  • Installing flex on Mac Parallels

    Hello folks, I am trying to install Flex 3 on my Windows 7 Virtual machine (parallels desktop) on my Mac Pro. The problem seems to be some sort of conflict between the copy of Flex 3 Builder installed on Mac OS X. The installer tries to install Flex in x:/Program Files/Adobe/Flex Builder 3/ but since Parallels Desktop connects all directories, there resides the Flex Builder 3 installation of MAC.   • install make command without already having make (mac os 10.5)

    I'm trying to write a script that uses the make command, but Mac os 10.5 doesn't come with make installed by default, and when you download the make source code from gnu's website, you have to use make itself to compile and install it. which is hard if you don't have it in the first place. How can I install make? (I know you can get make by installing Xcode and the developer tools that come with mac os, but I don't want people to have to go find their mac os install dvds to be able to use the script.) It doesn't even have to be make, i'm just looking for a utility that you can easily download in a script (using ftp or curl) and use to compile source code.

I am using the following command on Mac, sudo scp ~/.ssh/mykey.rsa [email protected], there is no output from Mac command line. I am not sure whether the scp is success or not.     Hi all, I am on Mac Os X 10.5 (but I reproduced the issue on 10.4) I am trying to use iconv to convert an UTF-8 file to ASCII the utf-8 file contains characters like 'éàç' I want the accented characters to be turned into their closest ascii equivalent so my command is this : iconv -f UTF-8 -t ASCII//TRANSLIT//IGNORE myutf8file.txt which works fine on a Linux machine but on my local Mac Os X I get this for instance : è = 'e à = `a I really dont undersatnd why iconv returns this weird output on mac os x but all is fine on linux any help ? or directions ? thanks in advance

    I was looking at my plugins, and ended up looking at Silverlight on several Mac systems. What I noticed (from Wikipedia), was that only Silverlight 1 runs on PPC. Without knowing about the technical details and trade-offs, I was surprised. On its face, if you build Silverlight 1 for PPC and Intel, would it have been hard to continue to support both chipsets? So, assuming this was a decision based on marketshare, I tried to search for information on the Mac OS PPC vs. Intel marketshare, but could not find anything on point. Does anyone here have an idea what the ratio is? It seems like the most important architectural/product decision you would make for a Mac OS X product.

For example has the Mac in its application menu the preference command, the about command and the exit command. These are under Windows usally in the file menu and the about command is found in the help menu. Is there a "standard" way of doing it with RCP programs? It should somehow be possible because Eclipse itself does it. But I can not figure out how.

I would like to send a logout message to my mac when I quit the iPhone app. I tried to send it on the : -applicationWillTerminate methode but it seems that the application shut down my service before.     I'm doing some development with C++ on Mac OS. The code worked fine on Mac OS 10.8.3/10.8.4, with GCC 4.7.3. However recently I upgraded my OS to Mavericks 10.9 and Xcode 5.0. I find that when I try to compile my code, both gcc/g++/clang responds with: *******.C:1:** stdlib.h:no such file or directory *******.C:2:** iostream.h:no such file or directory Since I'm not familiar with Mac OS(My working platform is openSUSE), what can I do for it? will it help if I install "Command Line Tools" from Xcode? Or is there anyway that I could re-build the include index? Include dir of GCC is /opt/local/include/gcc47 and it seems there is a stdlib.h in it. The path is /opt/local/include/gcc47/c++/tr1/ Please help me, and thank you very much.

    I know of FlashDevelop for windows but how about developing actionscript or haxe on a mac? besides flex plugin for eclipse, flex builder and FDT is there anny good IDE out there for actionscript development on mac? I would really like to se a good plugin for netbeans but it looks like all the projects on making something like this has halted. I have tryide using MacVim with various plugins but i never get it to work and it looks to be a hard learning curve to get starting using vim. What is people using to develop actionscript/haxe on a mac?

    I think (based on searching the forums), that NetCat is the best option, but wanted to hear if others are preferable. Anyone have good success with a packet-crafting tool (specifically on Mac)? I've tried HPing, but had some issues. I'm looking into NetCat ('nc' on mac) now, but it's not working as I had thought. Basically, I captured some packets that a remote control sends over a wifi network to turn lights on and off (using X10 controllers), and am looking for a way to replay them by crafting a TCP packet from the command line. I used Wireshark to sniff the traffic, so I know the package is: DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10" I'm trying: echo 'DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10"' nc 192.168.2.196 6003 but there's no response from the receiving system. The exact bytestream is (if anyone wants to check that I got the right dataframe): 08004642f1b400260897ad6308004500004b08e240004006aaf5c0a802c1c0a802c4d8d7177399aab39 e57ff4753801880ae37ea00000101080a323353ce01b406424445564943457e73656e64706c637e2243 34204f4e220a Next step I'm going to check is to make sure the packet arrives exactly by sniffing and compare it to the original.
