  • Why is my USB-to-VGA'd monitor working, but not showing in Display Settings?

    I have a USB-to-VGA adapter, which I use to connect a second monitor to my laptop (totaling 3 screens). It worked alright with Vista. I upgraded to Windows 7, and now it no longer works properly (I downloaded the latest drivers just to get it to work on 7). The extra monitor is detected and used to extend the desktop (I can move things onto it, etc), but is not shown within the Control Panel. This is annoying because now I can't changes its resolution, set its logical position to match its physical position, etc. Can I do anything, besides waiting for better drivers? I'm mainly concerned with moving its logical position. (I'd also like to understand how Windows can use a monitor it can't detect. Weird.)

  • Massive amount of subfolders and long subfolders. ¿How can I delete all of them?

    Good day. We have a little problem here. We have a share with the backup of all the server's offices, Its a really big share with more than 8.000.000 files. Our users usually give long names to the folders they create, and then make subfolders (long too) and more subfolders... and more suboflders.... We have a new share with more capacity, and with a simpe robocopy bat we copied all the files and folders (some give problems, but we manually copied them) But the problem is deleting them. del command didnt work well when so long paths, neirder rmdir... I'm tried some commanders, but no luck. Can u recommend me any tool that can delete recursively or able to delete 255+ paths? Edited: The SO on background of the share it's NetApp OS. But I can access it from Windows Servers. 2000 and 2003 Thanks.

  • AMD Radeon 7900 series: setting up 3 monitors

    I have an AMD Radeon 7900 series, which should support up to 6 screens. I'm having problems getting my third one working. Im running windows 8, and have installed all the latest AMD drivers. My screens are: Samusng syncmaster S27D391HS Samusng syncmaster S24B350H Samusng syncmaster S24B350H The first 24" monitor I use HDMI to DVI cable. The second 24" I use VGA to DVI cable. Lastly, for the 27" I use HDMI cable. The result is, no matter what I do, I never get more than two screens on simultaneously. I have also tried getting a DisplayPort to HDMI cable to use for the 27", but Im not sure if it was passive or active (didn't say on the box, nor did I ask). So my question is: is an active displayport to HDMI the solution, or is there someting else Im overlooking? (I have read similar posts on this subject, but I use a slightly different combo of cables. That is why I made a post of my own as well)

    I'd like to use the native 1920x1200 laptop monitor that comes with the Alienware m17x along with 2 additional external monitors, one through the displayport and another through the hdmi port. Is there any way to do this? And if so how? I've tried to update the nvidia drivers, I've installed ultramon, etc., but I can't seem to make it happen. I've seen posts that suggest it's possible, but I can't seem to figure out how.

  • Dual Monitors in Ubuntu

    My only issue that is stopping me from moving to Linux is the dual monitor support. If I use TwinView, maximizing an application causes it to take over both monitors, not maximize in the current monitor the way it works in Windows. If I use two separate X windows, certain programs default to a specific monitor with no way of moving it to the other desktop. Has anyone else had these issues? Are there any detailed dual monitor resources.for Linux/Ubuntu I can read?

  • Daisy-chainable DisplayPort Monitors

    I am the proud new owner of a MacBook Pro with a mini-DisplayPort. My desk setup used to allow me to position the screen of my old MacBook beside an external monitor, essentially allowing dual-head. It was also advantageous that my old MBP and my external monitor had the same resolution, 1440x900. Now, I'm searching for a set of two monitors that I can use a HengeDock with. Unfortunately, the MacBook Pro suffers from having only one mini-DisplayPort. Looking up the spec for DisplayPort 1.2 (which the MBP supports), DisplayPort daisy chaining is supported. What I'm looking for is a monitor that has two DisplayPorts so I can daisy chain two monitors off the single mini-DisplayPort. What I don't want is a USB-based video solution. I need full acceleration on both monitors; an external video card won't cut it. I hope I don't have to wait a few years for these monitors to come out. TL;DR: I need two monitors with two DisplayPorts each that I can daisy-chain. Thanks!

    I have three SyncMaster 932a monitors I want to use with two Radeon X1600/X1650 cards under Linux. I am running X.org X Server 1.6.0, as provided by Ubuntu's Wubi installer. Maximizing only fills the current monitor. Either have menu/task bars on only the left monitor or all three monitors How can I make this possible?

  • ATI Catalyst setting to stretch Windows XP start bar across both displays

    I have a Lenovo T400 laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series video card, using the ATI Catalyst Control Center to span my Windows XP display over the laptop display and a Dell flatpanel LCD. This works fine, but I'm used to NVIDIA multi-desktop that let me control the "Start bar" to either exist on only 1 screen... be duplicated on both, or (what I want), stretched across both. Is this possible with the ATI card/Catalyst Software? If not, are there any utilities out there that will handle this for me?     I have a company issued laptop and docking station as well as two monitors The specifications of the hardware are as follows; Laptop: Latitude E6430 BIOS: A02.00 Processor: i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.60 (8 CPUs) Memory: 4096MB RAM Page file: 1825MB used, 4793MB available DirectX 11 Display Driver/Chip: MVIDIA NVS 5200M DAC: Integrated RAMDAC Aprox Total Memory: 2376 (Above 3 details same for both displays) Current Display Mode (Display 1): 1600x900 Current Display Mode (Display 2): 1440x900 the docking station is a Dell Latitude E6420 Docking Station PR03X Port Replicator and I don't think the monitor model is particularly relevant to resolving this issue but they are both Acer V193Ws The story goes like this; the laptop works fine if I VGA one monitor into the laptop through the vga port on the back of the lefthand side of the laptop I can achieve dual monitor display fine (laptop screen + monitor) if I plug the laptop into the docking station and use the vga port in the back of the docking station I can dual monitor fine (laptop screen + monitor) if I plug the laptop into the docking station, the laptop's lefthand side VGA port no longer seems to function at all I've spoken to internal IT about this issue and they're going to get me some kind of VGA splitter or a DVI-VGA adapter to use with the docking station for the second Acer Monitor, but that isn't going to happen for a few days. So I guess what I'm wondering is; is there any way to continue to use the side VGA port on my laptop while using the docking station VGA port? and as a secondary 'followup' pending resolution of the initial issue with getting both monitors up and running (at the moment I have both monitors on my desk but am just using my laptop screen as one of my dual monitor display with one of the monitors [the one connected to dock]), is there any way to CONTINUE to use my laptop monitor to in effect have a triple monitor display (2 monitors + docked laptop)? I am wondering this because internal IT told me that they were aware of some issues with the particular display drivers in my box and triple monitor displays but weren't really going to look TOO much in-depth into that (which is perfectly understandable) since getting the adapter for the dual monitors up and running was the greater priority within their purview. So this is a two parter; Can I dual monitor using two vga cables with 1 docking station vga port and one laptop vga port? is there a setting that can be tweaked somewhere? because plugging the box into the station seems to make the side port stop working and... Is there any reasonably simple and cost-effective work around (e.g. I am find with shelling out maybe a few dollars out of my own pocket for some hardware or software to make my company box tri-display capable) but if this requires some extensive rebuild or new OSs or doing stuff to the BIOS I'd rather have a straight answer about this being untenable as a slight modification to a (once again) company laptop and stop wasting time looking into it Thanks! and please let me know if you guys need any more details (tech specs or something) to answer this question [EDIT] 2/10/2014 Just an update; turned out it really was just a hardware limitation issue. The old laptop just couldn't hack it. Got a new laptop with a better video card and different monitors from my company and am successfully using a triple display currently (2 monitors + laptop screen)

  • Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 PC resolution slightly off

    I have a PC running two Nvidia 8500 GTs in SLI mode and I am trying to use my TV in dual mode. When I switch the TV to PC the screen is nearly centered with a slight offset. All resolutions are effected from 800x600 all the way up to the TVs native 1360x768. I have tried with SLI on and off and have PhysX turned off as well as I thought that might have an effect. I am running Windows XP 64-bit SP2 DirectX ver 9.0c Nvidia driver version 181.22 Any other information please let me know. Thanks in advance.

  • HP Probook 6550b has issues with an external monitor

    I recently got a new HP Probook 6550b laptop for work. However, very often, when left alone (not put to sleep), the built in display will go dark. Not only that, but whenever I plug in an external monitor, the display will blank out as well. Sometimes after this happens, putting the laptop to sleep and then waking it up solves the problem. But only sometimes and only for a short time. The next time I plug in my monitor, it happens again. I know this isn't only my problem - 6 other people got the same laptop as I have at the same time, and we're all having such issues. Any suggestions as to the root of this problem and a way to fix it? It's driving me crazy!

    I run a user group, and often host LiveMeeting sessions. I use a projector, with a crowd watching. How do I do the admin stuff (respond to Q&A, etc) on one window, and just have the video on the 'extended monitor'? I dont' want the people in the audience to see anything except the video feed, but I want to be able to watch questions come in, etc... Note: I don't have a problem extending the screen across the two monitors - I already have different stuff showing on my screen compared to the projector. I just want a way to put the LM video on Monitor 2 (projector), and the LM controls on Monitor 1.

    I just turned 11 CDs with a total of 1gb of stuff into ISOs. Is it possible for me to just burn all the ISO videos into a DVD? Any alternative way for me to do it? Edit: I need to be playable on any DVD player. It's videos for my grandparents. Update: I read that DVD shrink should work (re-authoring software), but I didn't try it because when I imported the VIDEO_TS folders into the software, my video wasn't played widescreen, and I dont' know how to fix it.

  • Can I use an nVidia Geforce 9600GT for triple-monitor?

    My work PC has (as you can guess from the title) a single Geforce 9600GT card. According to the spec page for this card, both DVI ports are Dual-Link DVI. Both are currently in use on Dell 19" 1280x1024 screens. I'm running Windows 7, with Aero enabled, for what that's worth. What I'm wondering is if I can use a standard DVI splitter cable to drive a third screen from one of the ports -- specifically a Samsung 22" 1680x1050. I'm really outgrowing the two-screen setup, and am strongly considering bringing in my home monitor (which is almost never used) to bolster my usable space. If I can't, then my alternative is to replace one of these Dells with that Samsung, to give me at least a "little" more space. (Before you ask, there's probably no chance I can get my company to spring for a second video card and third monitor. Even if I could, it would not be politically expedient, as a number of my other coworkers are already pretty jealous at my setup.)

    I use one of my PCs for flight simulation as well as for home theater. In case one it has 2 monitors attached, and in case 2 (home theater) a HD TV is being used. All 3 monitors are attached at the same time to the graphics card. How could it best switch best between different configurations. In case 1 I'd like to have the configuration with monitor 1/2, alternatively I'd like quickly to switch to another config only with the HD TV as primary screen. A similar question has been asked 6 months back with no full solution yet, so I come up with it again. The comment there of Darius (Windows + P key) is the best so far.
