    I have compiled and jarred the various projects in my Java application, generating serialVersionUIDs automatically through Eclipse for all my classes derived from Serializable. I read the answers to this question, and verified that serialVersionUids are all private static final long. Nevertheless, I get an error like this when I try to run: java.io.InvalidClassException: com.acme.product.Widget; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 5226096973188250357, local class serialVersionUID = -5432967318654384362 What am I missing?

    I have an div Element with the ID mypointer, wich has an absolute position. I animate this div on a page with jquery. The goal is a presentation where the elements show the same reaktion on the div element like the mousepointer. So I want to simulate mouseover, click and rightclick events. Is that possible?   • Generate Makefile from Xcode Project for port of project to other UNIX systems

    (This was asked before but the answers were not conclusive) While I love development using Xcode (3.2.1), I have the need to port some projects to other UNIX systems, and even Windows. The code is all C++ but fairly complex. I'm looking for a way to automated / semi-automated generation of equivalent Makefiles out of my Xcode projects, after getting tired to do this by manual trial-and-error. Thanks for any hints.   • Procedure in converting int to decimal data type?

    I have an int(11) column which is used to store money. I read some of the answers on SO and it seems I just need to update it to be a decimal (19,4) data type. Are there any gotchas I should know about before I actually do the converting? My application is in PHP/Zend and I'm not using an ORM so I doubt I would need to update any sort of class to consistently identify the data type.

I already get all Types defined, but there is no IsStatic property. Counting 0 constructors is really slow and did not work either. Any tips or a line of code? :-) Chris

    I know the answer depends on the particular JVM, but I would like to understand how it is usually implemented? Is it in terms of popen (posix)? In terms of efficiency do I need to keep something in mind (other than using a Buffered stream as suggested by the javadoc).   • Why is giving a fixed width to a label an accepted behavior?

    There are a lot of questions about formatting forms so that labels align, and almost all the answers which suggest a pure CSS solution (as opposed to using a table) provide a fixed width to the label element. But isn't this mixing content and presentation? In order to choose the right width you basically have to see how big your longest label is and try a pixel width value until "it fits". This means that if you change your labels you also have to change your CSS.
