  • JSP to Bean to Java class Validation

    - by littlevahn
    I have a rather simple form in JSP that looks like this: <form action="response.jsp" method="POST"> <label>First Name:</label><input type="text" name="firstName" /><br> <label>Last Name:</label><input type="text" name="lastName" /><br> <label>Email:</label><input type="text" name="email" /><br> <label>Re-enter Email:</label><input type="text" name="emailRe" /><br> <label>Address:</label><input type="text" name="address" /><br> <label>Address 2:</label><input type="text" name="address2" /><br> <label>City:</label><input type="text" name="city" /><br> <label>Country:</label> <select name="country"> <option value="0">--Country--</option> <option value="1">United States</option> <option value="2">Canada</option> <option value="3">Mexico</option> </select><br> <label>Phone:</label><input type="text" name="phone" /><br> <label>Alt Phone:</label><input type="text" name="phoneAlt" /><br> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </form> But when I try and access the value of the select box in my Java class I get null. Ive tried reading it in as a String and an Array of strings neither though seems to be grabbing the right value. The response.jsp looks like this: <%@ page language="java" %> <%@ page import="java.util.*" %> <%@page contentType="text/html" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> <%! %> <jsp:useBean id="formHandler" class="validation.RegHandler" scope="request"> <jsp:setProperty name="formHandler" property="*" /> </jsp:useBean> <% if (formHandler.validate()) { %> <jsp:forward page="success.jsp"/> <% } else { %> <jsp:forward page="retryReg.jsp"/> <% } %> I already have Java script validation in place but I wanted to make sure I covered validation and checking for non-JS users. The RegHandler just uses the name field to refer to the value in the form. Any Idea how I could access the select box's value?

  • GPA and Resume and PDF vs Doc.

    - by Recursion
    As a recent graduate of a CS program, I am looking for my first job. My GPA was not above 3.0, but incredibly close. Should I still put my GPA on my resume, or is it best to leave it out? Also, is it best to submit a resume as a PDF or a DOC file?

  • To run two CGIs simultaneously

    - by Punit
    On my form onbutton submit following events takes place: 1) CGI is called which uploads the file 2) Javascript/Ajax function is called which opens a request for another CGI and is supposed to receive updated values from there. However, it seems that the CGI with which Ajax is communicating is not responding to Ajax requests. My question is that is it possible to run two CGIs simultaneously?

  • Script to create a table and fields in SQL wont work

    - by Jacksta
    Warning this is lenghty! attack if you knowledagble. well at least more then a newb beginner like me. This script uses three files as detailed below. It is suppoed to create the database and fields from the form input. It gets to the end and shows my_contacts has been created!. But when i go into phpMyadmin the table has not been created. I have a file named show_createtable.html which is used to create a table in MySQL <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <h1>Step 1: Name and Number</h1> <form method="post" action="do_showfielddef.php" /> <p><strong>Table Name:</strong><br /> <input type="text" name="table_name" size="30" /></p> <p><strong>Number of fields:</strong><br /> <input type="text" name="num_fields" size="30" /></p> <p><input type="submit" name="submit" value="go to step2" /></p> </form> </body> </html> This Form Posts to do_showfielddef.php <?php //validate important input if ((!$_POST[table_name]) || (!$_POST[num_fields])) { header( "location: show_createtable.html"); exit; } //begin creating form for display $form_block = " <form action=\"do_createtable.php\" method=\"post\"> <input name=\"table_name\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"$_POST[table_name]\"> <table cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"5\"> <tr> <th>Field Name</th><th>Field Type</th><th>Table Length</th><th>Primary Key?</th><th>Auto-Increment?</th> </tr>"; //count from 0 until you reach the number fo fields for ($i = 0; $i <$_POST[num_fields]; $i++) { $form_block .=" <tr> <td align=center><input type=\"texr\" name=\"field name[]\" size=\"30\"></td> <td align=center> <select name=\"field_type[]\"> <option value=\"char\">char</option> <option value=\"date\">date</option> <option value=\"float\">float</option> <option value=\"int\">int</option> <option value=\"text\">text</option> <option value=\"varchar\">varchar</option> </select> </td> <td align=center><input type=\"text\" name=\"field_length[]\" size=\"5\"></td> <td aligh=center><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"primary[]\" value=\"Y\"></td> <td aligh=center><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"auto_increment[]\" value=\"Y\"></td> </tr>"; } //finish up the form $form_block .= " <tr> <td align=center colspan=3><input type =\"submit\" value=\"create table\"> </td> </tr> </table> </form>"; ?> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Create a database table: Step 2</title> </head> <body> <h1>defnie fields for <? echo "$_POST[table_name]"; ?> </h1> <? echo "$form_block"; ?> </body> </html> Which in turn creates the table and fields with this file do_showfielddef.php //connect to database $connection = @mysql_connect("localhost", "user", "pass") or die(mysql_error()); $db = @mysql_select_db($db_name, $connection) or die(mysql_error()); //start creating the SQL statement $sql = "CREATE TABLE $_POST[table_name]("; //continue the SQL statement for each new field for ($i = 0; $i < count($_POST[field_name]); $i++) { $sql .= $_POST[field_name][$i]."   • What does the MVC Controller.UpdateModel<T>(T) actually try to do?

    - by unanswered
    When I submit my MVC Page I get an IvalidOperationException from System.Web.Mvc Controller object in the UpdateModel method. the MSDN documentation states that this method does the following: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. Is the value provider referencing the current Request object? Or where exactly does it get the values that it is using to update the model? And what specifically does the UpdateModel method check and what does it 'mean' when it says that The model of type 'abcXYZ' was not successfully updated Thanks

  • jquery function call with parameters

    - by Kaushik Gopal
    Hi a newb question: I have a table with a bunch of buttons like so: <tr class="hr-table-cell" > <td>REcord 1</td> <td> <INPUT type="button" value="Approve" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Reject" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Delete" onclick="fnDeletePpAppl(222445,704);" /> </td> </tr> <tr class="hr-table-cell" > <td>REcord 1</td> <td align="center" class="hr-table-bottom-blue-border" valign="middle"> <INPUT type="button" value="Approve" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Reject" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Delete" onclick="fnDeletePpAppl(237760,776);" /> </td> </tr> I have my jquery like so: <script type="text/javascript"> // JQUERY stuff $(document).ready(function(){ function fnDeletePpAppl(empno, applno) { alert('Entering here'); $("form").get(0).empno.value = empno; $("form").get(0).applNo.value = applno; $("form").get(0).listPageAction.value = "delete"; $("form").get(0).action.value = "pprelreqlist.do"; $("form").get(0).submit(); } }); This doesn't seem to work.I thought this means, the function is ready only after the dom is ready. After the dom is ready and i click the button, why is not recognizing the function declaration within the .ready() function? However if i use the function directly: <script type="text/javascript"> function fnDeletePpAppl(empno, applno) { alert('Entering here'); $("form").get(0).empno.value = empno; $("form").get(0).applNo.value = applno; $("form").get(0).listPageAction.value = "delete"; $("form").get(0).action.value = "pprelreqlist.do"; $("form").get(0).submit(); } This works. I want to get my fundamentals straight here... If i do the declaration without the .ready() , does that mean i'm using plain vanilla jscript? If i were to do this with the document.ready - the usual jquery declaration way, what would i have to change to make it work? I understand there are much better ways to do this like binding with buttons etc, but I want to know why this particular way doesn't seem to be working. Thanks. Cheers. K

  • javascript: how to delay submitting data when several checkboxes clicked in short time interval?

    - by ~knb
    I have an array of checkboxes in a complex dynamic-html form. Whenever a user clicks one checkbox, a fairly expensive query is generated and submitted to a remote server. I want to delay this submit action depending on the users next action. If the user clicks several checkboxes quickly, all of the first clicks should be discarded, only the last one is processed and eventually submitted after 1 second or so. maybe this is a common problem but I have never worked with timeouts before.

  • jQuery + Dialog Form Validation

    - by Panther24
    Hi, I have a jQuery Dialog form and on submit I'm trying to validate the fields. I'm using http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation to validate. In this I'm facing an issue, the validate function is not being called. I'm posting some snippet of my code $("#register-dialog-form").dialog({ autoOpen: false, height: 350, width: 450, modal: true, buttons: { 'Register': function() { $("#registerFrm").validate({ rules: { accountid: "required", name: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, username: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, password: { required: true, minlength: 5 } }, messages: { firstname: "Please enter your firstname", accountid: "Please enter the lastname", name: "Please enter a user friendly name", username: { required: "Please enter a username", minlength: jQuery.format("Enter at least {0} characters") }, password: { required: "Please provide a password", minlength: jQuery.format("Password must be at least {0} characters long") } } }); //****************** //TODO: Need to submit my form here //****************** $(this).dialog('close'); }, Cancel: function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } }, close: function() { //$('registerFrm').clearForm(); } }); Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here. I've also tried to put the validation into $(document).ready(function() {}, but with no success. Here is the html code <div id="register-dialog-form" title="Register Account - Master" align="center" style="display: none"> <s:form name="registerFrm" id="registerFrm" action="registermaster" method="POST"> <table width="90%" border="0" class="ui-widget"> <tr> <td> <s:textfield label="Account Id" name="accountid" id="accountid" cssClass="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield label="Name" name="name" id="name" cssClass="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield label="Username" name="username" id="username" cssClass="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <s:password label="Password" name="password" id="password" cssClass="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </td> </tr> </table> </s:form> </div><!--End of RegisterAcc form-->

  • It is only uploading first row's file input

    - by user1304328
    I have a application which you can access here. If you open the application please click on the "Add" button a couple of times. This will add a new row into a table below. In each table row there is an AJAX file uploader. Now the problem is that if I click on the "Upload" button in any row except the first row, then the uploading only happens in the first row so it is only uploading the first file input only. Why is it doing this and how can I get it so that when then the user clicks the "Upload" button, the file input within that row of the "Upload" button is uploaded and not the first row being uploaded? Below is the full code where it appends the file AJAX file uploaded in each table row: function insertQuestion(form) { var $tbody = $('#qandatbl > tbody'); var $tr = $("<tr class='optionAndAnswer' align='center'></tr>"); var $image = $("<td class='image'></td>"); var $fileImage = $("<form action='upload.php' method='post' enctype='multipart/form-data' target='upload_target' onsubmit='startUpload();' >" + "<p id='f1_upload_process' align='center'>Loading...<br/><img src='Images/loader.gif' /><br/></p><p id='f1_upload_form' align='center'><br/><label>" + "File: <input name='fileImage' type='file' class='fileImage' /></label><br/><label><input type='submit' name='submitBtn' class='sbtn' value='Upload' /></label>" + "</p> <iframe id='upload_target' name='upload_target' src='#' style='width:0;height:0;border:0px solid #fff;'></iframe></form>"); $image.append($fileImage); $tr.append($image); $tbody.append($tr); } function startUpload(){ document.getElementById('f1_upload_process').style.visibility = 'visible'; document.getElementById('f1_upload_form').style.visibility = 'hidden'; return true; } function stopUpload(success){ var result = ''; if (success == 1){ result = '<span class="msg">The file was uploaded successfully!<\/span><br/><br/>'; } else { result = '<span class="emsg">There was an error during file upload!<\/span><br/><br/>'; } document.getElementById('f1_upload_process').style.visibility = 'hidden'; document.getElementById('f1_upload_form').innerHTML = result + '<label>File: <input name="fileImage" type="file"/><\/label><label><input type="submit" name="submitBtn" class="sbtn" value="Upload" /><\/label>'; document.getElementById('f1_upload_form').style.visibility = 'visible'; return true; }

Thanks in advance for any info on this, most appreciated! Dave B

  • jquery event listening, non-standard events

    - by Stacey
    I'm attempting to build a way for my selectors to 'listen' to 'global' events that are beyond the typical 'click' 'change' 'submit' etc. I've explored the various 'eventmanagers' that I could find, and they're all still designed for forms. Is there any way to do something like this for non-standard (i.e. custom) events? The goal is to have selectors subscribe to an event, and then be able to trigger it in one place and it will raise it for everything subscribed to it.

    Hello, I'm trying to make a script that will download search results from a HTTPS website using POST. So far, I'm able to download the web page before the submission but not the response page containing the search results. The problem seems to be that curl isn't waiting long enough for the response page to appear. The website behaviors likes this. Website appears- input form data - click submit - progressing icon appears - returns new web page with search results( new data but the url doesn't change ) My code: curl -d "postData" -k url
