    I'd want to know how to change to text of the UIAlertView appearing when I record a video with a UIImagePickerController and I reach the videoMaximumDuration. If it is not possible to change the text of that UIAlertView, is it at least possible to display it in another language ?   • What exactly happens when Complex Script Support is enabled?

    When we click the check box "Install files for complex script and right to left languages (including Thai)" in Regional and Language settings what exactly happens? Changes to registry keys? I noticed that it installs some .fon files and keyboard dlls. Is this totally necessary if one just wish to read complex script on Windows XP? My test inside VirutalBox as Windows 7 as the host OS seems to indicate that for reading Complex Script need not be enabled. Yet that's not what all the literature on the subject says. What's going on?

    How do I get a JLabel displaying a HTML string to appear greyed out (which is the behaviour of JLabels that don't display HTML text)? Is there another way than actually changing the colour myself by modifying the foreground property? From what I gather, it seems that Java doesn't support automatic greying out of JLabels when they use HTML text. Suraj's solution has come closest to the fix considering the limitations. I have however, tried a different out-of-the box approach, where I have put the HTML text JLabels inside of an inner JPanel and did this: mInnerPanel.setEnabled(shouldShow); //shouldShow is a boolean value Which hasn't worked. Any suggestions for this way? EDIT: Added implemented solution.

  • Rails equivalent of respond_to |format| with a straight render

    I'm working with ActiveResource a lot so my service models are only using XML. Thus, I have no need for a respond_to block, I literally just render :xml => @model I can't however figure out how to render a 404 header using this. I've had to resort to respond_to, which I think adds a few unnecessary method calls. Here's what I'm using: respond_to do |format| if (record_found) render :xml => @some_record else format.xml{ head :not_found } end end but I just want something like render :xml => head :not_found which doesn't work. Can anyone tell me the proper syntax?

    Hi, I am using MVVM to show the database records in a gridview (ListView view). i have a textbox where we can enter the text to be searched in the results listed in the gridview. i tried many ways to highlight the search text (Not the entire row only the text matches in the record) in the records displayed in the list view but unable to highlight. i am able to find the starting and ending indexes. i tried to created rectangles using those indexes on the text block but unable to highlight.     Hi! Flash/Actionscript 3 lack the possibility to "draw" text to a displayobject graphics - a textfield has to be created, added and set. This is rather clumsy and time consuming. In the wait for simple and stable alternatives (for example http://lab.polygonal.de/2009/12/15/font-rendering-with-the-fp10-drawing-api/), is there a class or library for simply plotting text strings using graphical primitives (lines), something like the text is "drawn" on plotted technical drawings?

    In my Python script which uses Curses, I have a subwin to which some text is assigned. Because the text length may be longer than the window size, the text should be scrollable. It doesn't seem that there is any CSS-"overflow" like attribute for Curses windows. The Python/Curses docs are also rather cryptic on this aspect. Does anybody here have an idea how I can code a scrollable Curses subwindow using Python and actually scroll through it? \edit: more precise question

    How can I speed up the scrolling of UserControls in a WinForms app.? My main form has trouble scrolling quickly on slow machines--painting for each of the small scroll increments is CPU intensive. My form has roughly fifty UserControls (with multiple fields) positioned one below the other. I’ve tried intercepting OnScroll and UserPaint in order to eliminate some of the unnecessary re-paints for very small scroll events, but the underlying Paint gets called anyway. How can I streamline scrolling on slower machines?

  • Cocoa/Objective-C - Child window with text input without main window becoming inactive

    Hello All, I have a need to spawn a window that will hover just above my main window in a cocoa application. I want this main window to allow the user to enter some text in an input box. All is well until the text input box actually gains focus. The main window becomes "deactivated." This window is borderless and is a slightly custom shape -- its more like a hover card than anything else, I suppose. Basically, I'd like this thing to work almost exactly like Spotlight (Apple + Space) -- you can enter text, but this is such an an ancillary operation that in the context of the greater UX, you don't want the jarring effect of the main window graying out (becoming inactive). You'll notice when you have some application open and in-focus, spotlight will not cause the window of that application to become inactive. This problem arises because text input seems to REQUIRE that the child window become the key window (it will not let you place the cursor in the text input field). When it becomes key, the main window becomes inactive. So far I've tried: Subclassing NSWindow for my main application and overriding isKeyWindow such that it only loses key when the application is no longer the users focus (as opposed to the window). This had the unintended effect of colliding with key status of the child window and having very strange effects on the keyboard input (some keys are not captured, like delete) Creating a view instead of a window. Doesn't work because of this problem -- you cannot draw over a Webkit WebView these days. Anybody Cocoa/OSX wizards have any ideas? I've become a little obsessed with this one. An itch I can't scratch.

    in the following code <html> <body> <div style="height:400px; width:400px; -moz-border-radius:100px; -webkit-border-radius:100px; border:3px solid #500; background-color:#a00; overflow:hidden;"> Why is this getting cut at the beginning??? </div> </body> </html> Why isn't the browser wrapping the text around the rounded corners. In webkit browsers(i tested both chrome and safari) the overflow hidden cuts the text outside the border. Firefox just renders text outside the border. I also tried this without overflow:hidden; but again the text just rendered outside the border.

    I have a Maven web application with text files in src/main/webapp/textfilesdir As I understand it, during the package phase this textfilesdir directory will be copied into the target/project-1.0-SNAPSHOT directory, which is then zipped up into a target/project-1.0-SNAPSHOT.war Problem Now, I need to do a string replacement on the contents of the text files in target/project-1.0-SNAPSHOT/textfilesdir. This must then be done after the textfilesdir is copied into target/project-1.0-SNAPSHOT, but prior to the target/project-1.0-SNAPSHOT.war file being created. I believe this is all done during the package phase. How can a plugin (potentially maven-antrun-plugin), plug into the package phase to do this. The text files don't contain properties, like ${property-name} to filter on. String replacement is likely the only option. Options Modify the text files after the copy into target/project-1.0-SNAPSHOT directory, yet prior to the WAR creation. After packaging, extract the text files from WAR, modify them, and add them back into the WAR. I'm thinking there is another option here I'm missing. Thoughts anyone?

    I have an already pre-designed PDF, and I would like to fill the PDF with some database information. So I'm curious if I should save the PDF into JPG's and render them out with the data on top of the image and re-create a PDF. Or is there a way to use the PDF already, and print data into the PDF that is already made? I am trying to figure out the best solution to generating this type of PDF. All thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    In the OpenSocial Data specificaiton 1.0 for a Person object (social profile data) it includes the use of a generic called Plural-Field. The spec can be found at: http://opensocial-resources.googlecode.com/svn/spec/1.0/Social-Data.xml#Person In the 1.0 data specification there is no XSD and no examples showing the use of this generic Plural-Field. After puzzeling the spec for some time I think I might understand the user of this generic. I was hoping that someone could confirm or correct my understanding. For example the accounts field is a generic Plural-Field<Account> while the activities field is Plural-Field <string>.     I would like to be able to place the word "hello" centered on a specific point. I need to do this completely in XAML without extra code. Best I can tell, all the text alignment properties/styles in XAML act on text within some bouding canvas or other element. Since I don't know the length of the text I want to center, I can't center it using my own code. The reason I need to solve the problem entirely in XAML is that I'm not using WPF to create the XAML, I'm writing it directly to an XML DOM. It will then be loaded into a Silverlight or WPF control for display. In most graphic languages, including SVG, which is where my code originated, text can be aligned against a "stationary point" without a bounding box. Any suggestions appreciated

    I have a complex custom view - photo collage. What is observed is whenever any UI interaction happens, the view is redrawn. How can I avoid complete redrawing (for example, use a cached UI) of the view specially when I click the "back" button to go back to previous activity because that also causes redrawing of the view. While exploring the API and web, I found a method - getDrawingCache() - but don't know how to use it effectively. How do I use it effectively? I've had other issues with Custom Views that I outline here.

In order to do this I need to know what character position in the text the click occurred at, so I can then locate nearby whitespace and insert some formatting around the word. Finding out where the click occurred within the text is the trick here. Is that kind of thing possible?

    I am using the negative-text-indent technique I learned to show a text-image to the user, while hiding the corresponding actual text. This way the user sees the fancy styled text while search engines can still index it. However I am started to think this sounds like cloaking since I am serving different content to the user vs the spider. However, I am not using this in a deceitful way. Plus it seems like this is a popular technique. So is it SEO-safe or is it cloaking? Thanks!

    Is it possible to register (include) javascript within RenderingTemplate? (RenderingTemplates are used to render list forms or fields) By using <SharePoint:RenderingTemplate ID="NewRelatedListItem" runat="server"> <Template> <span id="part1"> <SharePoint:ScriptLink Name="SPFormFieldAssistant.js" Localizable="false" /> ... </span> ... </Template> </SharePoint:RenderingTemplate> it couldn't be done - it didn't include script at HEAD area, but...: Is something wrong with my code? Althought script IS at Layouts folder and I checked with Reflector that it uses Layouts folder if Localizable='False'. I don't want this script to be loaded with every page, but only for forms. Any ideas on how this could be achieved?
