  • Which tools to use and how to find file descriptors leaking from Glassfish?

    We release new code to production every week and Glassfish hasn't had any problems. This weekend we had to move racks at our hosting provider. There were not any code changes (they just powered off, moved, re-racked and powered on) but we're on a new network infrastructure and suddenly we're leaking file descriptors like a sieve. So I'm guessing there is some sort of connection attempting to be made which now fails due to a network change. I'm running Glassfish v2ur2-b04/AS9.1_02 on RHEL4 with an embedded IMQ instance. I have no idea what these sockets are. I've undeployed my application so there is only a plain Glassfish instance running and I still see it leaking 12 file descriptors a minute. So I think this leak is in Glassfish or potentially IMQ. What approach should I take to tracking down these sockets of unknown protocol? What tools can I use (or flags can I pass to lsof) to get more information about where to look? thanks, chuck

Now I created my own XML/RSS feed so that I can add additional XML tags and values. Now here's my big problem: enabling search. Since I'm not relying on Picasa's API anymore to return custom RSS/XML for the user's search, how can I create xml from another xml based on the user's search queries using only JavaScript and Jquery?     I'm trying to develop a new feature for our vb.net order entry system. At the moment I provide an assisted paypal login which loops through transactions and copies the transactions. My program then looks at this data and copies it into text boxes. The operator then approves and saves the record. So my code uses IHTMLFormElement and loops round form elements and adds values. However I only really use this to log in to paypal. See my code... Unfortunately you need to click on 'find a transaction' which then uses some javascript to shows the post fields. So the problem is that the fields I need to use are hidden. How can I click on this java link in code ?

  • "Android Create" call fails in windows 7 - missing JDK

    I'm having a problem getting my android dev environment setup in Windows 7. I follow the instructions here, as well as several environment sublinks. I am using Eclipse with the Android plugin. I have installed the Java JDK several times, in various locations (jdk-6u20-windows-i586.exe) - but I am obviously missing something. Every time I run "android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd" I get an error: C:\Users\andrew>android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd WARNING: Java not found in your path. Checking it it's installed in C:\Program Files\Java instead. ERROR: No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the Android Developer Tools, you need a suitable version of Java installed on your system. We recommend that you install the JDK version of JavaSE, available here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ You can find the complete Android SDK requirements here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/requirements.html This error message is the reason for me installing the JDK several times over. First I tried installing to a location on my e: drive. I then moved it to the default loc (program files (x86)\java\jdk.6.something. I also tried forcing it to go into the program files\ path, but it still automatically installs into the (x86) path. I have added the install path to my path environment variable every single time, yet I still continue to get this error. My suspicion is that windows 7 and the android tools are not playing together well in terms of finding the JDK, but who knows, it may be something entirely different. If you have seen this error before, I would appreciate a hint.

  • Android NDK import-module / code reuse

    Morning! I've created a small NDK project which allows dynamic serialisation of objects between Java and C++ through JNI. The logic works like this: Bean - JavaCInterface.Java - JavaCInterface.cpp - JavaCInterface.java - Bean The problem is I want to use this functionality in other projects. I separated out the test code from the project and created a "Tester" project. The tester project sends a Java object through to C++ which then echo's it back to the Java layer. I thought linking would be pretty simple - ("Simple" in terms of NDK/JNI is usually a day of frustration) I added the JNIBridge project as a source project and including the following lines to Android.mk: NDK_MODULE_PATH=.../JNIBridge/jni/" JNIBridge/jni/JavaCInterface/Android.mk: ... include $(BUILD_STATIC_LIBRARY) JNITester/jni/Android.mk: ... include $(BUILD_SHARED_LIBRARY) $(call import-module, JavaCInterface) This all works fine. The C++ files which rely on headers from JavaCInterface module work fine. Also the Java classes can happily use interfaces from JNIBridge project. All the linking is happy. Unfortunately JavaCInterface.java which contains the native method calls cannot see the JNI method located in the static library. (Logically they are in the same project but both are imported into the project where you wish to use them through the above mechanism). My current solutions are are follows. I'm hoping someone can suggest something that will preserve the modular nature of what I'm trying to achieve: My current solution would be to include the JavaCInterface cpp files in the calling project like so: LOCAL_SRC_FILES := FunctionTable.cpp $(PATH_TO_SHARED_PROJECT)/JavaCInterface.cpp But I'd rather not do this as it would lead to me needing to update each depending project if I changed the JavaCInterface architecture. I could create a new set of JNI method signatures in each local project which then link to the imported modules. Again, this binds the implementations too tightly.

    I have the following setup. Class, say, Car that has a CarPart (belongsTo=[car:Car]). When I'm creating a Car I also want to create som default CarParts, so I do def car = new Car(bla bla bla) def part = new CarPart(car:car) Now, when I do car.validate() or part.validate() it seems fine.     What are the best practices to be followed to update the contents of a listactivty by a background thread (Async Task) ? 1) Am calling the notifyDataSetChanged() to update the adapter as soon as i manipulate the contents of the adapter but still my app force closes while the user scrolls or click on the list. Any pointers to prevent this would be very helpfull. Logcat: java.lang.IllegalStateException: The content of the adapter has changed but ListView did not receive a notification. 2) Where exaclty should i update contents of the listactivity ? inside the doInBackground() or onProgressUpdate()? 3) Am experiencing regular crashes when the user clicks the list item. So will disabling click events on the listactivty during the background operation solve the problem ? If so am not sure how to remove or set item click listeners dynamically to the listactivity. Please instruct me on the too. 4) I dont think blocking all ui interactions during the background async task execution is the only way to solve the problem. I know there is a simple way of doing this but need some help. Thanks in advance.   • learning C++ from java, trying to make a linked list.

    I just started learning c++ (coming from java) and am having some serious problems with doing anything :P Currently, i am attempting to make a linked list, but must be doing something stupid cause i keep getting "void value not ignored as it ought to be" compile errors (i have it marked where it is throwing it bellow). If anyone could help me with what im doing wrong, i would be very grateful :) Also, I am not used to having the choice of passing by reference, address, or value, and memory management in general (currently i have all my nodes and the data declared on the heap).   • Anyone know where I can download a copy of Sun Java System Active Server Pages 4.0.3 for Solaris

    I've contacted Sun regarding this and they have told me that the download is no longer available as Active Server Pages 4.0.3 is now End Of Life. We need to upgrade our server to 4.0.3 to acheive PCI-DSS compliance. Anyone know of a site where I can download older copies of Sun files? Sun offer 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 to download but not 4.0.3 which is going to cause problems come October when Visa stops accepting transactions from non PCI compliant servers. If Sun kept their naming system consistent across versions, the file would be called "sjsasp403-sol-sparc.tar". I know the real solution is to upgrade every site on the server to use a different server language, i.e. PHP, and in the long term, this is our goal but we have over 100 sites requiring upgrading and its not a viable solution to get this done before October.

    I am testing a client application that authenticates using RSA SecurID hardware tokens. The authentication is failing and I am not finding any useful information in the log files. I am using Authentication Manager 8.0 and the Java SDK. I have a traffic capture which I would like to analyze with Wireshark to and from port 5500 on the authentication agent. But I can't find the packet format searching the internet or on the the RSA SecurCare knowledge base. Can anybody direct me to the packet format? It works well with integers up to 127 and then again with integers over 256. I believe it has something to do with Java types being signed but don't seem to get it to work. I would like to create unique variables for each group. In my .ai file, I have named my groups and I would like to use these names to create the variable names.     I have a CentOS 5.5 server running Apache on port 80 as well as some other applications. All works fine until I for some reason need to restart the httpd process. Doing so returns: sudo /etc/init.d/httpd restart Stopping httpd: [ OK ] Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs First I thought perhaps httpd had frozen and was still running, but that was not the case. So I ran netstat to find out what was using port 80: sudo netstat -tlp Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *:7203 *:* LISTEN 24012/java tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:smux *:* LISTEN 3547/snmpd tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN 21966/mysqld tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 3562/sshd tcp 0 0 *:http *:* LISTEN 3780/python26 Turns out that my python process had taken over listening to http in the instant that httpd was restarting. I killed that too and could then successfully restart httpd. But this is a terrible workaround. Why will these python and java processes start listening to port 80 as soon as httpd is restarted? How to solve? Two other comments. 1) Both java and python processes are started by apache from a php script. But when apache is restarted, they should not be affected. And 2) I have the same setup on two other machines running Ubuntu and there's no problem there. Any ideas? Edit: The Java process listens to port 7203 and the python process supposedly doesn't listen to any port. For some reason, they start listening to port 80 when apache is restarted. This hasn't happened before. On Ubuntu it runs fine. For some reason, on my current CentOS 5.5 machine, this problem arises.
