  • How can I Instal shockwave on Ubuntu

    I got this computer from someone and it had ubuntu installed on it. I like it but I find it complicated and I have been trying to download and every time I try to install something an error comes up Archive: /home/singh/Downloads/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe [/home/singh/Downloads/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe] End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/singh/Downloads/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe or /home/singh/Downloads/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe.zip, and cannot find /home/singh/Downloads/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe.ZIP, period. Please help me uninstall ubuntu and get Windows back or help me get these downloads to work.

    I am not able to pin point what is missing. I have configured freenx-server (useradd, passwd etc). However, server drops the connection after authentication. Please note my server is ubuntu 10.04 and client recent version.   • I can't get over a resolution of 640x480 after upgrading to 12.04, how can I fix it?

    Ever since I upgraded to 12.04 my screen resolution has gone down to 640 x 480, even though I had higher resolutions before.   • Upgrade from 11.10 to 12:04 failed

    I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 using the update manager. At the end of the upgrade the console said the upgrade had failed and it forced me to restart. After a restart I am not able to do anything other than logging in. I just see a blue screen with the ubuntu one icon, I can open applications, but nothing beyond that. I opened the terminal but after that the keyboard is not being recognized. Basically the laptop is now rendered useless. Any pointers on how to recover? This is on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with a 64 bit AMD Sempron Processor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sandeep

  • Resolving a cname using different DNS

    I have a domain name (e.g. abc.com) registered in GoDaddy and I have a few subdomains (mail, blog) correctly setup to a different hosts. Now I want to park my domain with a parking host (seohosting.com) which asked me to change my nameserver to their DNS. What I want is to only redirect dns queries for (www or @) cname to seohosting.com while still being able to use my other cname for my own purpose. Is there a way to do this? I dont have the host IP address for parking host.

    I have built a website using PHP and MySQL and now I am looking for a hosting service. I am expecting about a 1000 users registering and about 5-10k pageviews/day in a week's time. So which host should I opt for? It will let users submit contents of type blobs and submit around 10 pictures per users. I hope that traffic will increase so can justhost's or bluehost's shared hosting serve that purpose or should I go for more dedicated ones. Basically the site is write heavy and there are average 2-3 MySQL queries per page and it is quite dynamic. So depending on these requirements which web hosting will be optimal for me.

But the issue is that, both the sub reports are growing (i.e. their height is not static as the number of records are variable).     Is it possible to use Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code? I have a Windows Mobile application written using Lazarus(Object pascal) and I want to use it with Symbol MC70. The sdk that they have are for C, .NET and Java. I had a look at the C sdk and it comes with .LIB files which I cannot use with Object Pascal. I have no clue as to how the scanner is working with .NET stuff, I could not see a WIN32 dll in the files provided, maybe it is in the cab file.     I have a requirement where I have to set environment variables calling a script file eg:set_env.sh. set_env.sh contains all the environment variables. export SCRIPT_DIR=/e/scripts/ ... when I call the set_env.sh from my code the variables are available in that file itself. They are not available in file where I have called the script. What should be done so that environment variables can be retained and can be used in file which calls set_env.sh. Thanks, Sandeep M.

    Consider a circle. Now consider a radius of the circle, drawn from the center of the circle towards the right. Now imagine that the radius is rotating about the center of the circle, sweeping out an area as it rotates. My problem is: I want to use iPhone's animation techniques to fill up the swept out area with a different color from the background area of the circle, as the radius rotates from 0 degrees to any chosen number of degrees about the circle.   • Forward Shibboleth Environment Variables to Tomcat via Apache

    I am using Shibbolethv2.3 with Apache web server and Tomcat application server. I am using Apache as a reverse proxy using mod_proxy.so. I am not able to forward the Shibboleth environment variables from Apache to Tomcat. I am able to forward the attributes in the headers but as already mentioned in the wiki this approach is not safe. I have tried forwarding the environment variables by the following directive : SetEnv AJP_username ${username} then at the Java side I can access the attribute by : request.getAttribute("username"); The strange thing here is that, I get a different value instead of the one set by Shibboleth. I get the Windows account name as a result. If I use any other attribute name, I get a null value. I have searched a lot and have run out of options. Please guide me towards the right solution. My setup details : Shibboleth version : 2.3 OS : Windows XP SP3 Webserver : Apache 2.2 Application Server : Tomcat 6 Proxy module : mod_proxy.so
