• Need to adjust touchpad edge scroll area

  I have an Acer Aspire that I have dual booting XP and Ubuntu. On the Windows side, the driver allows you to set how close your finger has to be to the edge of the touchpad before it goes into scroll mode. In Ubuntu I don't have the option (at least in the GUI) to change the scroll area on the pad. Is there a conf file or other way to change this? I'm constantly getting into the scroll area during normal usage. I would like to leave it on without losing so much pad area to the scroll feature. Thanks a lot.

I mean when i am in windows and i press the middle click somewhere i can scroll in a 4 way pointer shows on the screen and when i move the mouse in any direction the window will scroll in that direction even without pressing the middle click.   I have a Intel Cedar Trail netbook. For graphics to work, i had to build kernel 3.1 with the drivers. I followed the steps in this document After doing that, now my graphics is fine, but my mouse scroll does not work. Is that because I have not build the kernel properly? Have i missed selecting some options in the kernel compile menu? It will be nice if someone can help me. Also my wacom bamboo tablet is not recognized, i have installed the xserver-xorg-input-wacom drivers.

• How do i fix the slow scroll in browsers and high XOrg cpu usage

  I am facing an issue while scrolling in browsers(firefox, chrome, and opera) , scroll is jagged and slow. Also when scrolling the cpu usage spikes. I am currently running ubuntu natty(beta 1), switched from ubuntu 10.10 where the problem was worse. I am using the nvidia beta driver, which ubuntu installed automatically. My graphic card is nvidia Quadro NVS 150M. I tried running ubuntu without the effects on , but when using multiple applications at the same time xorg usage spikes again. Additional info: 2GB of RAM and an intel core 2 duo processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

• Need a new mouse: clicky scroll wheel and additional thumb-operated scroll wheel

  I'm having some carpel tunnel syndrome or RSI issues, and I need to get a new mouse. I've tried a friend's Logitech MX Revolution and it's almost perfect. I LOVE the thumb-operated scroll wheel, and I think that that alone would solve many of my hand pain issues. The problem is that it uses their newfangled smooth/click scroll wheel. It can be either smooth or clicky, and is switched by pressing in the scroll wheel. I really question Logitech's user research on that one. I've been using middle-click to open new links and close tabs for years now in my browser, and I'm not willing to give that up for this cool technology. In fact I HATE smooth scroll wheels in general, and need a clicky one. The option would be ok, but not if it's activated via the middle-click button. In closing, I'm looking for these items in my mouse: Thumb-operated scroll wheel or 'joystick'-like apparatus. Clicky, as-stiff-as-possible scroll wheel on top Normal middle-click functionality. Comfortable, preferably ergonomic design. Anyone have any suggestions? Logitech, want to get rid of that smoothing-scrolling crap so I can buy your mouse?

I'm using this site as a tutorial, but it seems that I can only get the infinite scroll on one way, because when I add elements to the leftmost side, the scrollLeft property auto-adjusts thus the page gets a quirky scroll, jumping instead of making a smooth movement. Is there any way of achieving infinite scroll both-ways? I don't plan to use scrolling buttons, just mouse drag for moving the scroll view.

  In Emacs, after a lot of editing, I press C-x s (save-some-buffers), then Emacs asks "Save file ...? (y,n,.... d ...)" for each file, I sometimes answer d (diff) to see the changes, but then it's not easy to scroll the diff buffer because the cursor is on the minibuffer. Scrollbar does not work. C-M-v works, but if I try to back-scroll by pressing C-M-- C-M-v, Emacs just says "Type C-h for help". How do I scroll the diff buffer in such cases?

  Exactly the opposite of http://superuser.com/questions/101482/global-scroll-acceleration-in-windows, is there a way to disable scroll-accelartion on windows (touchpad -- maybe from lenovo drivers). It's heck of annoying -- using no accelartion but high sensitivity like on linux is so much more precise. ( With this silly acceleration, I either have incredibly slow scrolling, or scrolling so fast it skips whole chunks of text at once. Speed control but not acceleration control. Could say the same for mouse cursor, though that's less annoying. )

• Safari specific scroll bar issue in legacy code

  I am trying to debug an issue that is occurring specifically in Safari. On a few pages of a web application, the content is larger than the frame and a scroll bar appears on the right but when the scroll bar moves up or down the content does not scroll with it. So you can "scroll" the scroll bar but the content itself was inaccessible even though the scroll bar was mobile. The issue only occurs in the "Multi-Process Windows" debug mode option but not in the "Single-Process Windows" option. The scroll bar works perfectly fine in Firefox, IE, and Chrome, just not in Safari. Because there's a lot of legacy code, I'm not quite sure exactly what the actual content is and which specific html elements are relevant. From what I can tell there's an Iframe element, html element, body element, div element, iframe element html element, body element and finally some divs. edit Does it matter if some of the elements within the <iframe> have the attribute scrolling="no"? I see this on a few of the elements within iframe but my coworker reassures me they don't matter.

• Scroll wheel causes browsers + Windows explorer to go back

  I use Windows 7 on a VirtualBox VM on a Mac. Lately, when I'm using any browser (IE9, Chrome or FireFox or even Windows Explorer), use of the scroll wheel followed by any movement of the mouse cursor causes the browser to go back. Very annoying. This happens when I use the scroll wheel on a USB connected mouse (brand/model unknown, since I don't have it in front of me as I write this) or when I use two-finger scrolling on the trackpad when no mouse is connected. When I connect from my VM to a remote Windows box (Windows Server 2008), I experience the same problem. I have tried rebooting the VM to no avail. I am not sure when the problem started exactly. It may or may not have been after I connected the USB mouse for the first time, but trying to unplug it and then rebooting didn't help. I have tried to google for a solution, but all I've found are people who accidentally pressed the shift key while scrolling, which will cause the browser to go backward or forward in the browser history. This however is not the problem I'm having. To be clear, in my case the browser only goes back when I move the mouse after I've used the scroll wheel. I'm at my wits end :(

• my mouse scroll wheel doesn't scroll

  It's only a minor thing but i can't solve it. I have a ps2 mouse on win xp sp3. the wheel has stopped scrolling in all apps however in apps that support it i can click the wheel and bring up the scrolling four way arrows and scroll that way. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and changing the wheel settings but to no effect. It obviously recognises the wheel since i can click it. Any ideas super users?!

  If you go to the iphone library and then go to songs, you will see the songs being displayed in a similar way to the MPMediaItemPicker class does. The only difference is that the ipod application shows the search bar right at the top of the list and also a nice alphabetical scroll on the right hand side whereas the MPMediaItemPicker class only isplays a simple scroll going up and down. How can i implement an alphabetical scroll on the right in the MPMediaItemPicker class? Can someone please help me.

To my surprise, the scroll goes to the first row (although if I go back to 25th row, the row is in edit mode) My issue, how I can make sure that the scroll bar maintains its position to 25th row after clicking on Edit button? • VS2010 almost always zooms text on scroll

  You know the neat text zoom feature in VS2010 where you hold down Ctrl and then use your scroll wheel? Well, this seems to happen by default (and without ever pressing Ctrl) to nearly every file I open. Usually I open a file and have to scroll to some lower point, but instead it starts zooming the text! I have found that by tapping the Ctrl key VS then realizes that it should scroll instead of zoom, but it's still very annoying. Any ideas?

  Currently trying out KDE, and I'm a big user of multiple workspaces/desktops while I work. I've noticed that essentially, KDE isn't able (or doesn't bother?) to tell between my mouse's standard vertical scroll, and the left/right scroll that it has. Just FYI, my mouse has a pretty sensitive scroll wheel with no discernible "clicks" so I can easily make my desktop look like it's on crack. Here's what I'd like: vertical scroll does nothing when applied on desktop, but left/right scroll causes me to switch to previous/next desktop.   I am facing a problem and it is in Ubuntu (14.04) permanent scroll bar is not there but it appears when you move the mouse pointer to right most side or bottom most side. But it is very difficult to use and lately it takes too much to appear and sometimes it doesn't appear at all and so i have to close the application and reopen it.   I can't seem to capture the scroll event on an iPad. None of these work, what I am doing wrong? window.onscroll=myFunction; document.onscroll=myFunction; window.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); document.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); They all work even on Safari 3 on Windows. Ironically, EVERY browser on the PC supports window.onload= if you don't mind clobbering existing events. But no go on iPad.

• WPF TreeView - How to scroll so expanded branch is visible

  When I expand items in my treeview so that scrolling is necessary, a scrollbar appears. However, it doesn't scroll down for the newly expanded branch of items - they get cropped by the bottom of the control. So as I continue expanding items at the bottom of the tree, I have to keep manually scrolling down to see the new children. Anyone have a suggestion for how make it automatically scroll to show the newly expanded items?
