  • XAML ComboBox SelectionChanged Fires OnLoad

    - by griegs
    If I have a ComboBox that has a SelectionChanged event, it fires when I'm loading the control. So at page load I set the SelectedValue and the SelectionChanged event fires which is not what I want to happen. What is the accepted apporach to stopping this?

  • Do WPF ComboBox SelectedIndex and SelectedValue have different behavior on SelectionChanged event?

    - by Junior Mayhé
    Hello guys I got this cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged firing as expected. The problem is when a external method tries to set cbxJobPosition. cbxJobPosition is databinded with a list of objects of type JobPosition: JobPositionID: 1, JobPositionName: Manager JobPositionID: 2, JobPositionName: Employee JobPositionID: 3, JobPositionName: Third party Here's the XAML: <ComboBox Cursor="Hand" DataContext="{Binding}" ItemsSource="{Binding}" FontSize="13" Name="cbxJobPosition" SelectedValuePath="JobPositionID" DisplayMemberPath="JobPositionName" SelectedIndex="0" Width="233" Height="23" SelectionChanged="cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged" /> On UserControl_Loaded method, it reads from database the list of jobs and try to set the specific job position "Third party": //calls cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged and passes the correct SelectedValue within cbxJobPosition.SelectedIndex = 3; //calls cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged and but won't pass the correct SelectedValue within cbxJobPosition.SelectedValue = "3"; As you can notice, when the processing is automatically redirected to cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged, the SelectedValue attribute will have different values for each statement above when you're debugging within cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged event. Does anyone know if this difference is expected, am I missing something or it could be a bug?

  • SelectionChanged event binding in Silverlight+MVVM-Light

    - by Budda
    The handler of the "SelectionChanged" event of the ComboBox control has the following signature: void SelectionChangedMethod(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) How to bind to that property under Silverlight 4 and MVVM-Light to the corresponding method of the ViewModel object? As far as I know, I need to do something like this: public void Changed(Object obj, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { // .... implement logic here } RelayCommand<Object, SelectionChangedEventArgs> _command; public ICommand ObjectSelectionChanged { get { if (_command == null) { _command = new RelayCommand<Object, SelectionChangedEventArgs>(Changed); } return _command; } } The problem is that RelayCommand class in the MVVM-Light framework doesn't support 2 generic parameters... Is there any solution or workaround for this case? How bind control event to the method with 2 parameters?

  • ComboBox.SelectionChanged doesn't catch the first selection

    - by trnTash
    I need to fill textboxes depending on the item selected in a combobox. I fill combo async and in Completed event I have the following code combo.ItemsSource = e.Result; combo.DisplayMemberPath = "Name"; combo.SelectedIndex = -1; Then in the SelectionChanged event of the combo, I catch the selected object MyClass mc= ((ComboBox)sender).SelectedItem as MyClass; tbxName.Text = mc.Name; ... However, when I load the project and select any event for the 1st time, NOTHING happens. Every other time (2nd, 3rd, nth) the data is correctly caught and displayed. So I need to know why the combo doesn't catch the first selection? That's the reason I have the code combo.SelectedIndex = -1 (when the app loads, combo is empty - selection -1 works).

  • DevExpress AspxGridView clientside SelectionChanged problem when using paged ObjectDataSource

    - by Constantin Baciu
    The context is as follows: One DexExpress AspxGridView with a server-side paging/filtering/sorting mechanism (using ObjectDataSource). I've been having problems with the filter mechanism ( see this stack ). Now, the problem I'm having is this: the client-side events get mangled between DataSource events. :O . Let me explain what happens: if I change the page (or sort/filter for that matter), then, select one row from the grid, the client-side SelectionChanged event fires well. If I change the page (or sort/filter), the event doesn't fire anymore. Instead, on the server side, I get a "The method or operation is not implemented" exception with the following stack-trace: at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProviderBase.GetListSouceRowValue(Int32 listSourceRowIndex, String fieldName) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProxy.GetListSourceRowValue(Int32 listSourceRowIndex, String fieldName) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProxy.GetKeyValueCore(Int32 index, GetKeyValueCallback getKeyValue) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataSelectionBase.GetSelectedValues(String[] fieldNames, Int32 visibleStartIndex, Int32 visibleRowCountOnPage) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProxy.GetSelectedValues(String[] fieldNames) at DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridView.FBSelectFieldValues(String[] args) at DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridView.GetCallbackResultCore() at DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridView.GetCallbackResult() at DevExpress.Web.ASPxClasses.ASPxWebControl.System.Web.UI.ICallbackEventHandler.GetCallbackResult() Am I doing something wrong? • [WPF] SelectionChanged of a child ListBox

    - by quimbs
    Hi, I have a ListBox bound to an ObservableCollection with an ItemTemplate that contains another ListBox. First of all, I tried to get the last selected item of all the listboxes (either the parent and the inner ones) from my MainWindowViewModel this way: public object SelectedItem { get { return this.selectedItem; } set { this.selectedItem = value; base.NotifyPropertyChanged("SelectedItem"); } } So, for example, in the DataTemplate of the items of the parent ListBox I've got this: <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Tails}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=DataContext.SelectedItem, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"/> The problem now, is that when I select an item from the parent ListBox and then an item from a child listbox, I get this: http://i40.tinypic.com/j7bvig.jpg As you can see, two items are selected at the same time. How can I solve that? Thanks in advance.

  • Metro: Creating a Master/Detail View with a WinJS ListView Control

    - by Stephen.Walther
    The goal of this blog entry is to explain how you can create a simple master/detail view by using the WinJS ListView and Template controls. In particular, I explain how you can use a ListView control to display a list of movies and how you can use a Template control to display the details of the selected movie. Creating a master/detail view requires completing the following four steps: Create the data source – The data source contains the list of movies. Declare the ListView control – The ListView control displays the entire list of movies. It is the master part of the master/detail view. Declare the Details Template control – The Details Template control displays the details for the selected movie. It is the details part of the master/detail view. Handle the selectionchanged event – You handle the selectionchanged event to display the details for a movie when a new movie is selected. Creating the Data Source There is nothing special about our data source. We initialize a WinJS.Binding.List object to represent a list of movies: (function () { "use strict"; var movies = new WinJS.Binding.List([ { title: "Star Wars", director: "Lucas"}, { title: "Shrek", director: "Adamson" }, { title: "Star Trek", director: "Abrams" }, { title: "Spiderman", director: "Raimi" }, { title: "Memento", director: "Nolan" }, { title: "Minority Report", director: "Spielberg" } ]); // Expose the data source WinJS.Namespace.define("ListViewDemos", { movies: movies }); })(); The data source is exposed to the rest of our application with the name ListViewDemos.movies. Declaring the ListView Control The ListView control is declared with the following markup: <div id="movieList" data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemDataSource: ListViewDemos.movies.dataSource, itemTemplate: select('#masterItemTemplate'), tapBehavior: 'directSelect', selectionMode: 'single', layout: { type: WinJS.UI.ListLayout } }"> </div> The data-win-options attribute is used to set the following properties of the ListView control: itemDataSource – The ListView is bound to the list of movies which we created in the previous section. Notice that the ListView is bound to ListViewDemos.movies.dataSource and not just ListViewDemos.movies. itemTemplate – The item template contains the template used for rendering each item in the ListView. The markup for this template is included below. tabBehavior – This enumeration determines what happens when you tap or click on an item in the ListView. The possible values are directSelect, toggleSelect, invokeOnly, none. Because we want to handle the selectionchanged event, we set tapBehavior to the value directSelect. selectionMode – This enumeration determines whether you can select multiple items or only a single item. The possible values are none, single, multi. In the code above, this property is set to the value single. layout – You can use ListLayout or GridLayout with a ListView. If you want to display a vertical ListView, then you should select ListLayout. You must associate a ListView with an item template if you want to render anything interesting. The ListView above is associated with an item template named #masterItemTemplate. Here’s the markup for the masterItemTemplate: <div id="masterItemTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="movie"> <span data-win-bind="innerText:title"></span> </div> </div> This template simply renders the title of each movie. Declaring the Details Template Control The details part of the master/detail view is created with the help of a Template control. Here’s the markup used to declare the Details Template control: <div id="detailsTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div> <div> Title: <span data-win-bind="innerText:title"></span> </div> <div> Director: <span data-win-bind="innerText:director"></span> </div> </div> </div> The Details Template control displays the movie title and director.   Handling the selectionchanged Event The ListView control can raise two types of events: the iteminvoked and selectionchanged events. The iteminvoked event is raised when you click on a ListView item. The selectionchanged event is raised when one or more ListView items are selected. When you set the tapBehavior property of the ListView control to the value “directSelect” then tapping or clicking a list item raised both the iteminvoked and selectionchanged event. Tapping a list item causes the item to be selected and the item appears with a checkmark. In our code, we handle the selectionchanged event to update the movie details Template when you select a new movie. Here’s the code from the default.js file used to handle the selectionchanged event: var movieList = document.getElementById("movieList"); var detailsTemplate = document.getElementById("detailsTemplate"); var movieDetails = document.getElementById("movieDetails"); // Setup selectionchanged handler movieList.winControl.addEventListener("selectionchanged", function (evt) { if (movieList.winControl.selection.count() > 0) { movieList.winControl.selection.getItems().then(function (items) { // Clear the template container movieDetails.innerHTML = ""; // Render the template detailsTemplate.winControl.render(items[0].data, movieDetails); }); } }); The code above sets up an event handler (listener) for the selectionchanged event. The event handler first verifies that an item has been selected in the ListView (selection.count() > 0). Next, the details for the movie are rendered using the movie details Template (we created this Template in the previous section). The Complete Code For the sake of completeness, I’ve included the complete code for the master/detail view below. I’ve included both the default.html, default.js, and movies.js files. Here is the final code for the default.html file: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>ListViewMasterDetail</title> <!-- WinJS references --> <link href="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/css/ui-dark.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/base.js"></script> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/ui.js"></script> <!-- ListViewMasterDetail references --> <link href="/css/default.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="/js/default.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/movies.js"></script> <style type="text/css"> body { font-size: xx-large; } .movie { padding: 5px; } #masterDetail { display: -ms-box; } #movieList { width: 300px; margin: 20px; } #movieDetails { margin: 20px; } </style> </head> <body> <!-- Templates --> <div id="masterItemTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="movie"> <span data-win-bind="innerText:title"></span> </div> </div> <div id="detailsTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div> <div> Title: <span data-win-bind="innerText:title"></span> </div> <div> Director: <span data-win-bind="innerText:director"></span> </div> </div> </div> <!-- Master/Detail --> <div id="masterDetail"> <!-- Master --> <div id="movieList" data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemDataSource: ListViewDemos.movies.dataSource, itemTemplate: select('#masterItemTemplate'), tapBehavior: 'directSelect', selectionMode: 'single', layout: { type: WinJS.UI.ListLayout } }"> </div> <!-- Detail --> <div id="movieDetails"></div> </div> </body> </html> Here is the default.js file: (function () { "use strict"; var app = WinJS.Application; app.onactivated = function (eventObject) { if (eventObject.detail.kind === Windows.ApplicationModel.Activation.ActivationKind.launch) { WinJS.UI.processAll(); var movieList = document.getElementById("movieList"); var detailsTemplate = document.getElementById("detailsTemplate"); var movieDetails = document.getElementById("movieDetails"); // Setup selectionchanged handler movieList.winControl.addEventListener("selectionchanged", function (evt) { if (movieList.winControl.selection.count() > 0) { movieList.winControl.selection.getItems().then(function (items) { // Clear the template container movieDetails.innerHTML = ""; // Render the template detailsTemplate.winControl.render(items[0].data, movieDetails); }); } }); } }; app.start(); })();   Here is the movies.js file: (function () { "use strict"; var movies = new WinJS.Binding.List([ { title: "Star Wars", director: "Lucas"}, { title: "Shrek", director: "Adamson" }, { title: "Star Trek", director: "Abrams" }, { title: "Spiderman", director: "Raimi" }, { title: "Memento", director: "Nolan" }, { title: "Minority Report", director: "Spielberg" } ]); // Expose the data source WinJS.Namespace.define("ListViewDemos", { movies: movies }); })();   Summary The purpose of this blog entry was to describe how to create a simple master/detail view by taking advantage of the WinJS ListView control. • How do I get a ComboBox SelectionChanged event to fire from a nested ListBoxItem?

    - by Stephen McCusker
    This is a rather complex problem that has me really confused right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Setup: ListBox of Type A UserControls -ListBoxItem of Type A UserControl --ListBox of Type B UserControls ---ListBoxItem of Type B UserControl ----ListBox of Type C UserControls -----ListBoxItem of Type C UserControl (contains the ComboBox) In other words, the Type A control has a ListBox of Type B controls that has a ListBox of Type C controls. All of the controls are hierarchical in nature. Type A contains the data that's needed to load the Type B controls and the Type B contains the data that's needed to load the Type C controls. The Type C control has a standard ComboBox in it for changing the values of the present items. In addition to the above structure, I have drag and dropping tied to the PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown event on both the Type A and Type B UserControl levels to handle reordering/deleting/etc commands in the GUI. All of this is working as intended. The Problem: When I attempt to change the value in the ComboBox, the SelectionChanged event never fires on the Type C "level" unless I'm careful enough to click on the borders/spacing in between any Type A or B controls. This happens when my ComboBox popout menu overlaps on either a Type A or B control located below itself. The selection events for Type A or B are firing instead of the Type C events, so the ComboBox is never changing its value reliably. In the debugger, the code for handling the drag and drop is triggering on the next ListBoxItem that's located underneath the ComboBox. Thoughts: Is there a way I can make my ComboBox popup take prevalence over the items behind it while double-nested in a ListBox (ie, ignore anything behind it while it's open)? Is there some way to reroute the incorrectly firing SelectionChanged events down to the ComboBox that's supposed to be triggering them?

  • Eclipse Plugin: Enablement of an Action based on the current selection

    - by Itay
    I am using the org.eclipse.ui.popupMenus extension point for adding a sub-menu whose Action that is bounded to the following class: public class MyAction implements IObjectActionDelegate { private Logic logic = Logic.getInstance(); // Singleton public void setActivePart(IAction a, IWorkbenchPart targetPart) { // Nothing here } public void run(IAction a) { // Do something... } public void selectionChanged(IAction a, ISelection s) { a.setEnabled(logic.isEnabled(s)); } } This action is working correctly in most cases (including the call a.setEnabled() in selectionChanged()). My problem at the very first time my action is being invoked. The selectionChanged method is called only after the menu item has been displayed (and not when the user has made the selection) which means that the call to a.setEnabled() will have no affect. Any ideas on how to make my action receive selectionChanged() notifications even before the fist time it is being invoked?

  • Accessing parent-level controls from inside a ComboBox's child controls

    - by eponymous23
    I have XAML similar to this: <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding SearchCriteria, Source={StaticResource model}}" SelectionChanged="cboSearchCriterionType_SelectionChanged"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Name="spCriterion" Orientation="Horizontal" Height="20"> <ComboBox Name="cboSearchCriterionType" Width="120" SelectionChanged="cboSearchCriterionType_SelectionChanged"> <ComboBox.Items> <ComboBoxItem IsSelected="True" Content="Anagram Match" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Pattern Match" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Subanagram Match" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Length" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Number of Vowels" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Number of Anagrams" /> <ComboBoxItem Content="Number of Unique Letters" /> </ComboBox.Items> </ComboBox> <TextBox x:Name="SearchSpec" Text="{Binding SearchSpec}" /> <TextBox x:Name="MinValue" Text="{Binding MinValue}" Visibility="Collapsed" /> <TextBox x:Name="MaxValue" Text="{Binding MaxValue}" Visibility="Collapsed" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> As you can tell from the markup, I have a listbox that is bound to a collection of SearchCriterion objects (collectively contained in a SearchCriteria object). The idea is that the user can add/remove criterion items from the criteria, each criterion is represented by a listbox item. Inside the listbox item I have a combobox and three textboxes. What I'm trying to do is change the visibility of the TextBox controls depending on the item that is selected in the ComboBox. For example, if the user selects "Pattern Match" then I want to show only the first textbox and hide the latter two; conversely, if the user selects "Length" or any of the "Number of..." items, then I want to hide the first TextBox and show the latter two. What is the best way to achieve this? I was hoping to do something simple in the SelectionChanged event handler for the listbox but the textbox controls are presumably out of the SelectionChanged event's scope. Do I have to programmatically traverse the control hierarchy and find the controls?

  • Master Details and collectionViewSource in separate views cannot make it work.

    - by devnet247
    Hi all, I really cannot seem to make/understand how it works with separate views It all works fine if a bundle all together in a single window. I have a list of Countries-Cities-etc... When you select a country it should load it's cities. Works So I bind 3 listboxes successfully using collection sources and no codebehind more or less (just code to set the datacontext and selectionChanged). you can download the project here http://cid-9db5ae91a2948485.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/PublicFolder/2MasterDetails.zip <Window.Resources> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding}" x:Key="cvsCountryList"/> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCountryList},Path=Cities}" x:Key="cvsCityList"/> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCityList},Path=Hotels}" x:Key="cvsHotelList"/> </Window.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="0" Text="Countries"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="0" Text="Cities"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="2" Grid.Row="0" Text="Hotels"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" Name="lstCountries" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCountryList}}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" Name="lstCities" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCityList}}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="2" Grid.Row="1" Name="lstHotels" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsHotelList}}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged"/> </Grid> Does not work I am trying to implement the same using a view for each eg(LeftSideMasterControl -RightSideDetailsControls) However I cannot seem to make them bind. Can you help? I would be very grateful so that I can understand how you communicate between userControls You can download the project here. http://cid-9db5ae91a2948485.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/PublicFolder/2MasterDetails.zip I have as follows LeftSideMasterControl.xaml <Grid> <ListBox Name="lstCountries" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged" DisplayMemberPath="Name" ItemsSource="{Binding Countries}"/> </Grid> RightViewDetailsControl.xaml MainView.xaml <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding}" x:Key="cvsCountryList"/> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCountryList},Path=Cities}" x:Key="cvsCityList"/> </UserControl.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition Width="3*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Views:LeftViewMasterControl x:Name="leftSide" Margin="5" Content="{Binding Source=}"/> <GridSplitter Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="0" Background="LightGray"/> <Views:RightViewDetailsControl Grid.Column="1" x:Name="RightSide" Margin="5"/> </Grid> ViewModels public class CountryListVM : ViewModelBase { public CountryListVM() { Countries = new ObservableCollection<CountryVM>(); } public ObservableCollection<CountryVM> Countries { get; set; } private RelayCommand _loadCountriesCommand; public ICommand LoadCountriesCommand { get { return _loadCountriesCommand ??   • WPF Combobox: Autocomplete

    - by user279244
    Hi, I have implemented a Autocomplete enabled Combobox in WPF. It is like below... private void cbxSession_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { cbxSession.ApplyTemplate(); TextBox textBox = cbxSession.Template.FindName("PART_EditableTextBox", cbxSession) as TextBox; textBox.IsReadOnly = false; if (textBox != null) { textBox.KeyUp += new KeyEventHandler(textBox_KeyUp); textBox.KeyUp += delegate { ///open the drop down and start filtering based on what the user types into the combobox cbxSession.IsDropDownOpen = true; cbxSession.Items.Filter += a => { if (a.ToString().ToUpper().Contains(textBox.Text.ToUpper())) return true; else return false; }; }; } } void textBox_KeyUp(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if ((e.Key == System.Windows.Input.Key.Up) || (e.Key == System.Windows.Input.Key.Down)) { e.Handled = true; } else if (e.Key == System.Windows.Input.Key.Enter) { e.Handled = true; cbxSession.IsDropDownOpen = false; } } void textBox_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { cbxSession.SelectionChanged -= cbxSession_SelectionChanged; if (e.Key == System.Windows.Input.Key.Enter) { e.Handled = true; cbxSession.SelectionChanged += cbxSession_SelectionChanged; } if ((e.Key == System.Windows.Input.Key.Up) || (e.Key == System.Windows.Input.Key.Down)) { e.Handled = true; } } private void cbxSession_DropDownClosed(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (cbxSession.Text != "") { TextBox textBox = cbxSession.Template.FindName("PART_EditableTextBox", cbxSession) as TextBox; if (!cbxSession.Items.Contains(textBox.Text)) { textBox.Text = cbxSession.Text; } } } private void cbxSession_DropDownOpened(object sender, EventArgs e) { cbxSession.Items.Filter += a => { return true; }; } <ComboBox x:Name="cbxSession" Width="260" Canvas.Top="5" Canvas.Left="79" Height="25" Visibility="Visible" SelectionChanged="cbxSession_SelectionChanged" MaxDropDownHeight="200" IsTextSearchEnabled="False" IsEditable="True" IsReadOnly="True" Loaded="cbxSession_Loaded" DropDownClosed="cbxSession_DropDownClosed" StaysOpenOnEdit="True" DropDownOpened="cbxSession_DropDownOpened"> <ComboBox.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VirtualizingStackPanel IsVirtualizing="True" IsItemsHost="True"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemsPanel> </ComboBox> But, the problem I am facing is... When I try searching, the first character goes missing. And this happens only once. Secondly, When I am using Arrow buttons to the filtered items, the ComboboxSelectionChanged event is fired. Is there any way to make it fire only on the click of 'Enter'

  • Datatemplates while using theme does not work - WPF

    - by bobjink
    I am using the theme DarkExpression from WPF Futures. It does not seem to work well with datatemplates. Scenario 1: Here is how it looks like without datatemplates: Pic 1 Code: <ListView Name="playlistListView" ItemsSource="{Binding PlaylistList}" Margin="0" SelectionChanged="DatabindedPlaylistListView_SelectionChanged" Background="{x:Null}" Opacity="0.98"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}"> <GridViewColumnHeader HorizontalContentAlignment="Left" Content="Playlist" Tag="Playlist"/> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> Scenario 2: Here is how it looks like trying to use datatemplates while using the theme: Pic 2 Code: <ListView Name="playlistListView" ItemsSource="{Binding PlaylistList}" Margin="0" SelectionChanged="DatabindedPlaylistListView_SelectionChanged" Background="{x:Null}" Opacity="0.98"> <ListView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <UserControls:SongDataTemplate Margin="4" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListView.ItemTemplate> </ListView> Scenario 3: Here is how it looks like trying to use datatemplates while overriding the theme: Pic3 Code: <UserControl.Resources> <Style x:Key="ListViewItemStretch" TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}"> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> </Style> </UserControl.Resources> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <ListView Name="playlistListView" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListViewItemStretch}" ItemsSource="{Binding PlaylistList}" Margin="0" SelectionChanged="DatabindedPlaylistListView_SelectionChanged" Background="{x:Null}" Opacity="0.98"> <ListView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <UserControls:SongDataTemplate Margin="4" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListView.ItemTemplate> </ListView> I want to keep the theme style but I also want to use datatemplates to define how a playlist should look like. Any suggestions? Note: In scenario 2 and 3 I had to remove <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}"> <GridViewColumnHeader HorizontalContentAlignment="Left" Content="Playlist" Tag="Playlist"/> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> Before the datatemplate would be used.

  • MasterDetails Loading on Demand problem

    - by devnet247
    Hi As an exercise to learn wpf and understand how binding works I have an example that works.However when I try to load on demand I fail miserably. I basically have 3 classes Country-City-Hotels If I load ALL in one go it all works if I load on demand it fails miserably. What Am I doing wrong? Works <Window x:Class="MasterDetailCollectionViewSource.CountryCityHotelWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="CountryCityHotelWindow" Height="300" Width="450"> <Window.Resources> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding}" x:Key="cvsCountryList"/> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCountryList},Path=Cities}" x:Key="cvsCityList"/> <CollectionViewSource Source="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCityList},Path=Hotels}" x:Key="cvsHotelList"/> </Window.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="0" Text="Countries"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="0" Text="Cities"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="2" Grid.Row="0" Text="Hotels"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" Name="lstCountries" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCountryList}}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" Name="lstCities" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsCityList}}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="2" Grid.Row="1" Name="lstHotels" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource cvsHotelList}}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="OnSelectionChanged"/> </Grid> </Window> DOES NOT WORK Xaml is the same as above, however I have added the following that fetches stuff on demand. It loads the countries only as opposed to the other one where it Loads everything at once and not code behind is necessary. public CountryCityHotelWindow() { InitializeComponent(); //Load only country Initially lstCountries.ItemsSource=Repository.GetCountries(); DataContext = lstCountries; } private void OnSelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { var lstBox = (ListBox)e.OriginalSource; switch (lstBox.Name) { case "lstCountries": var country = lstBox.SelectedItem as Country; if (country == null) return; lstCities.ItemsSource = Repository.GetCities(country.Name); break; case "lstCities": var city = lstBox.SelectedItem as City; if (city == null) return; lstHotels.ItemsSource = Repository.GetHotels(city.Name); break; case "lstHotels": break; } } What Am I doing Wrong? Thanks

  • MVVM - ListBox SelectedItem Binding Property Going Null

    - by Peanut
    So i have a listbox: <ListBox x:Name="listbox" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="8,8,0,8" Width="272" BorderBrush="{x:Null}" Background="{x:Null}" Foreground="{x:Null}" ItemsSource="{Binding MenuItems}" ItemTemplate="{DynamicResource MenuItemsTemplate}" SelectionChanged="ListBox_SelectionChanged" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedItem}"> </ListBox> and i have this included in my viewmodel: public ObservableCollection<MenuItem> MenuItems { get { return menuitems; } set { menuitems = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("MenuItems"); } } public MenuItem SelectedItem { get { return selecteditem; } set { selecteditem = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("SelectedItem"); } } and also in my viewmodel: public void UpdateStyle() { ActiveHighlight = SelectedItem.HighlightColor; ActiveShadow = SelectedItem.ShadowColor; } So, the objective is to call UpdateStyle() whenever selectedchanged event is fired. So in the .CS file, i call UpdateStyle(). The problem is, whenever I get into the selectionchanged event method, my ViewModel.SelectedItem is always null. I tried debugging this to see if the binding was working correctly, and it is. When I click on an item in the listbox, the SelectedItem Set is triggered, setting the value... but somewhere inbetween that and the selected changed (In the CS File) It gets reset to Null. Can anyone help out? Thanks
