  • Android: onKeyDown() problem

    - by niko
    Hi, I would like to create a photo/video capture application. I have created a CaptureView class which extends SurfaceView and placed it in the main form. The main form's activity has onCreateOptionsMenu() method which creates a menu. The menu worked fine but then I tried to implement a method onKeyDown: @Override public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if(event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN) { switch(keyCode) { case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_CAMERA: videoPreview.TakePicture(); return true; } } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } The menu doesn't appear anymore and the method doesn't catch onKeyDown event. Does anyone know what could be the reason for this issue? Thanks!

  • Why doesn't onkeydown working properly on IE?

    - by Fabian
    function checkEnter(event) { var charcode; if (event && event.which) { charcode = event.which; alert("Case 1. event.which is " + charcode); } else if (event && !event.which) { charcode = event.keyCode; alert("Case 2. event.keyCode is " + charcode); } document.getElementById("text1").value=""; } <input type="text" id="text1" onkeyup="checkEnter(event)" /> The above function works on both IE7 and Chrome. function checkKeyPressed() { document.onkeydown = function(event) { var charcode; if (event && event.which) { charcode = event.which; alert("charcode is " + charcode); } else if (event && !event.which) { charcode = event.keyCode; alert("charcode (keyCode) is " + charcode); } } } <input type="button" id="button1" onclick="checkKeyPressed(event)" value="Button" /> However this one works only in Chrome. Any idea why?

  • How to exit grid with ctrl-TAB when grid is on a tabpage (onkeydown works when grid not on tabpage)

    - by Charles Hankey
    winforms .net 3.5 Ultrawingrid 9.2 In my subclass of Ultrawingrid.Ultragrid : Protected Overrides Sub OnKeyDown(ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) If e.KeyCode = Windows.Forms.Keys.Tab andalso e.control = True then SetFocusToNextControl(True) End if Mybase.OnKeyDown(e) End Sub This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well. FWIW I tried a different combination like ctrl-E and got pretty much the same result with focus disappearing from the grid but not going anywhere I could detect. The sub still saw the e.control as controlkey. Oddly, ctrl-X, ctrl-A etc all work in the grid and a ctrl-Delete combo I put in the subclass for deleting a row works fine. Once again - grid directly on form and it all works. I'm definitely over my head on this one. Guidance much appreciated. vb or c# fine. TIA

  • input type text and onKeyDown not working under IE

    - by dygi
    Hi there. I am writing a WWW application, it has to run under IE. I have the problem with the code that runs under FF, but i can't get it running under IE. // JS code function test() { if (window.event.keyCpde == 13) window.location.href.ssign("myPage.php"); } I've tried some similar ways around window.location and location.href, also document.location. I've read that IE has problems with that, so i ask for a solution. The goal is, that page reloads after typing in some text into <input type='text' name='item_code' onKeyDown='test()'> and click enter. So the result is similar to pressing submit type button below the text input. Within IE it reloads the same page and nothing happens. In FF it correctly works.

  • Can't find asp:textbox in Javascript.

    - by Andrew
    I am trying to add the onkeydown attribute to an asp:textbox. For some reason my code can't find the textbox that is inside a loginview. Am I doing something wrong? <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function() { UserName.Attributes.Add("onKeyDown", "KeyDownHandler('" + btn.ClientID + "')"); Password.Attributes.Add("onKeyDown", "KeyDownHandler('" + btn.ClientID + "')"); } function KeyDownHandler(btn) { if (event.keyCode == 13) { event.returnValue=false; event.cancel = true; document.getElementById(btn).click(); } } </script>

  • Using numeric values to select item from a dropdown box with JavaScript

    - by Shyam
    Hi, I have a multitude of dropdown boxes within my webpage. One of these dropdown boxes is used for a single selected value out of a list of options. <SELECT id="Box0" name=""> <OPTION value="0">none</OPTION> <OPTION value="1">first</OPTION> <OPTION value="2">second</OPTION> </SELECT> How can I add an event to this section, so when it is in focus, I could use numeric keys like 1,2.. to select an option instead of using the mouse or arrow keys for selecting an option? For clarification: if I press "1" on my keyboard, the selected value would become "first", with "2" the selected value becomes "second". I choose not to use a library/framework such as JQuery/Mootools. Thanks,

  • Overfocus in GridView

    - by chuck258
    I'm trying to implement a GridView that Focuses the next Item and "Overscrolls at the End of a List. E.g. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I want to scroll 1 2 3 4 5 6 ... just by pressing the right Key. Right now I can only Scroll 1 2 3 and then it stops and I have to scroll with the down Key. I already tried to set the focusViews in code (In the getView() method of my ArrayList Adapter, that fills the GridView) view.setId(position); view.setNextFocusLeftId(position-1); view.setNextFocusRightId(position+1); But that doesn't work. I found the boolean *Scroll(int direction) Methods on grepcode But theese are Package Local and I can't overwrite them. Any suggestions on how to solve this. Can I use another View and get the same Layout as a Gridview? I also set a OnFocusChangeListener to see what happens with no reaction. Edit: I just added this to my MainActivity, but now it seems to onKeyDown only get called when the GridView doesn't handle the KeyEvent (If the Last Item in a row is selected). @Override public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { switch (keyCode) { case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT: if (focusedView > 0) { mContainer.setSelection(--focusedView); Log.v("TEST", focusedView+""); } return true; case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_RIGHT: if (focusedView < mAdapter.getCount() - 1) { mContainer.setSelection(++focusedView); Log.v("TEST", focusedView+""); } return true; } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } Edit 2: This is so f***ing stupid but works so damn fine :D @Override public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { switch (keyCode) { case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT: mContainer.onKeyDown(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_UP, new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_UP)); mContainer.onKeyDown(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_RIGHT, new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_RIGHT)); mContainer.onKeyDown(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_RIGHT, new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_RIGHT)); return true; case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_RIGHT: mContainer.onKeyDown(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_DOWN, new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_DOWN)); mContainer.onKeyDown(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT, new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT)); mContainer.onKeyDown(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT, new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT)); return true; } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } I really don't want to post this as Answer, and I really don't want to have to use this Code because it is such a stupid workaround ;TLDR: Help still needed

  • How to translate formulas into form of natural language?

    - by Ricky
    I am recently working on a project aiming at evaluating whether an android app crashes or not. The evaluation process is 1.Collect the logs(which record the execution process of an app). 2.Generate formulas to predict the result (formulas is generated by GP) 3.Evaluate the logs by formulas Now I can produce formulas, but for convenience for users, I want to translate formulas into form of natural language and tell users why crash happened.(I think it looks like "inverse natural language processing".) To explain the idea more clearly, imagine you got a formula like this: 155 - count(onKeyDown) >= 148 It's obvious that if count(onKeyDown) 7, the result of "155 - count(onKeyDown) = 148" is false, so the log contains more than 7 onKeyDown event would be predicted "Failed". I want to show users that if onKeyDown event appears more than 7 times(155-148=7), this app will crash. However, the real formula is much more complicated, such as: (< !( ( SUM( {Att[17]}, Event[5]) <= MAX( {Att[7]}, Att[0] >= Att[11]) OR SUM( {Att[17]}, Event[5]) > MIN( {Att[12]}, 734 > Att[19]) ) OR count(Event[5]) != 1 ) > (< count(Att[4] = Att[3]) >= count(702 != Att[8]) + 348 / SUM( {Att[13]}, 641 < Att[12]) mod 587 - SUM( {Att[13]}, Att[10] < Att[15]) mod MAX( {Att[13]}, Event[2]) + 384 > count(Event[10]) != 1)) I tried to implement this function by C++, but it's quite difficult, here's the snippet of code I am working right now. Does anyone knows how to implement this function quickly?(maybe by some tools or research findings?)Any idea is welcomed: ) Thanks in advance.

  • Synergy 1.4.2 Linux server, OSX client, Media/Function key mapping issues

    - by at165dB
    I'm using an Apple bluetooth keybord to control my Linux synergy server. SSH tunneling, Mouse, Keyboard, and Copy&Paste all work. Linux sees all the media/app keys that are on top of the F# keys correctly. However if I press any of those keys while controlling my OSX client, nothing happens on the client. Running synergys with -d DEBUG1 I can see the following keycode info: Pressing the "dim monitor" key that also serves as F1 generates: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=232, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 If I press "fn" and the same key, I can see it sending what I'm assuming is an F1: event: KeyPress code=67, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=61374 mask=0x2000 button=0x0043 send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=61374, mask=0x2000, button=0x0043 new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=67, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=61374 mask=0x2000 button=0x0043 send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=61374, mask=0x2000, button=0x0043 I'm guessing I need to tweak my synergy.conf so that the server sends keys that it currently isn't. I'm also not sure what I need to do to tweak the keys that it is sending, but are not working. Below are all the other keys I'm having issues with. • Trying to modify the text of a document onkeydown is inserting text incorrectly.

    - by Benny
    I have the following html: <html> <head> <script> function myKeyDown() { var myDiv = document.getElementById('myDiv'); myDiv.innerHTML = myDiv.innerHTML.replace(/(@[a-z0-9_]+)/gi, '<strong>$1</strong>'); } function init() { document.addEventListener('keydown', myKeyDown, false); document.designMode = "on"; } window.onload = init; </script> </head> <body> <div id="myDiv"> This is my variable name: @varname. If I type here things go wrong... </div> </body> </html> My goal is to do a kind of syntax highlighting on edit, to highlight variable names that begin with an @ symbol. However, when I edit the document's body, the function runs but the cursor is automatically shifted to the beginning of the body before the keystroke is performed. My hypothesis is that the keypress event is trying to insert the new character at a specified index, but when I run the replace function the indices get messed up so it defaults the character insertion point to the beginning. I'm using Firefox to test by the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, B.J.

  • How do you handle key down events on Android? I am having issues making it work.

    - by user279112
    For an Android program, I am having trouble handling key down and key up events, and the problem I am having with them can almost certainly be generalized to any sort of user input event. I am using Lunar Lander as one of my main learning devices as I make my first meaningful program, and I noticed that it was using onKeyDown as an overridden method to receive key down events, and it would call one of their more original methods doKeyDown. But when I tried to implement a very small version of my own onKeyDown overide and the actual handler that it calls, it didn't work. I would probably copy and paste my implementations of those two methods, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. You see, I ran the debugger and noticed that they were not getting called - at all. The same goes for my implementations of onKeyUp and the handler that it calls. Something is a little weird here, and when I tried to look at the Android documentation for it, that didn't help at all. I thought that if you had an overide for onKeyDown, then when a key was pressed during execution of the program, onKeyDown would be called as soon as reasonably possible. End of story. But apparently there's something more to it. Apparently you have to do something else somewhere - possibly in the XML when defining the layout or something - to make it work. But I do not know what, and I could not find what in their documentation. What's the secret to this? Thanks!

  • How do you add a key handler to a GWT FlexTable?

    - by Eric Landry
    I'm trying to change the row highlighting in my FlexTable using KeyCodes.KEY_UP/DOWN. This doesn't seem to work (based on 1809155): public class KeyAwareFlexTable extends FlexTable implements KeyDownHandler, HasKeyDownHandlers { public KeyAwareFlexTable() { this.addKeyDownHandler(this); } @Override public void onKeyDown(KeyDownEvent event) { GWT.log("onKeyDown"); // check if up/down & do something useful } @Override public HandlerRegistration addKeyDownHandler(KeyDownHandler handler) { return addDomHandler(handler, KeyDownEvent.getType()); } } I've also tried this (based on this site): FlexTable table = new FlexTable() { @Override public void onBrowserEvent(Event event) { super.onBrowserEvent(event); GWT.log("Event type = " + DOM.eventGetType(event)); switch (DOM.eventGetType(event)) { case Event.ONKEYDOWN: if (DOM.eventGetKeyCode(event) == KeyCodes.KEY_UP) { GWT.log("up"); } else if (DOM.eventGetKeyCode(event) == KeyCodes.KEY_DOWN) { GWT.log("down"); } break; default: break; } } }; table.sinkEvents(Event.ONKEYDOWN); I'm looking for a way to have this behavior more or less. Does anybody have a way to do this in GWT?

  • Having some fun - what is a good way to include a secret key functionality and fire the KeyDown event?

    - by Sisyphus
    To keep myself interested, I try to put little Easter Eggs in my projects (mostly to amuse myself). I've seen some websites where you can type a series of letters "aswzaswz" and you get a "secret function" - how would I achieve this in C#? I've assigned a "secret function" in the past by using modifier keys bool showFunThing = (Control.ModifierKeys & Keys.Control) == Keys.Control; but wanted to get a bit more secretive (without the modifier keys) I just wanted the form to detect a certain word typed without any input ... I've built a method that I think should do it: private StringBuilder _pressedKeys = new StringBuilder(); protected override void OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs e) { const string kWord = "fun"; char letter = (char)e.KeyValue; if (!char.IsLetterOrDigit(letter)) { return; } _pressedKeys.Append(letter); if (_pressedKeys.Length == kWord.Length) { if (_pressedKeys.ToString().ToLower() == kWord) { MessageBox.Show("Fun"); _pressedKeys.Clear(); } } base.OnKeyDown(e); } Now I need to wire it up but I can't figure out how I'm supposed to raise the event in the form designer ... I've tried this: this.KeyDown +=new System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventHandler(OnKeyDown); and a couple of variations on this but I'm missing something because it won't fire (or compile). It tells me that the OnKeyDown method is expecting a certain signature but I've got other methods like this where I haven't specified arguments. I fear that I may have got myself confused so I am turning to SO for help ... anyone?

  • Is it possible to create a Service that listens for hardware key presses?

    - by VoteBrian
    I'd like to run an Android background service that will act as a keylistener from the home screen or when the phone is asleep. Is this possible? From semi-related examples online, I put together the following service, but get the error, "onKeyDown is undefined for the type Service" public class ServiceName extends Service { @Override public void onCreate() { //Stuff } public IBinder onBind(Intent intent) { //Stuff return null; } @Override public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if(event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN) { switch(keyCode) { case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_A: //Stuff return true; case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_B: //Stuff return true; //etc. } } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } } I realize Android defaults to the search bar when you type from the home screen, but this really is just for a very particular use. I don't really expect to distribute this. Also, it'd be nice to use the camera button to wake the phone.

The problem is that we can't show popup while typing, Probably, many people think a way of utilizing OnKeyListener or OnKeyDown. But, when the word is composing, nothing come into OnKeyListener or OnKeyDown, So, we can't show popup when we want to. Is there anyone who have smart idea to solve this problem?

    This is a very noob question so I hope you can help me with this... This is my built code: public class PantallaOpciones extends PreferenceActivity { private SharedPreferences preferences; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { preferences = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); findPreference("speechkeycode").setOnPreferenceClickListener(keycodedialog); Preference.OnPreferenceClickListener keycodedialog = new Preference.OnPreferenceClickListener(){ public boolean onPreferenceClick(Preference preference){ keycodedialog(); return false; }}; } private void keycodedialog(){ final Dialog dialog = new Dialog(this); dialog.setContentView(R.layout.keycodedialog); dialog.setTitle("Speech keycode"); final TextView keypresstext = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.keypresstext); Button savekeycode = (Button) dialog.findViewById(R.id.btnsavekeycode); savekeycode.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { dialog.dismiss(); } }); Button resetkeycode = (Button) dialog.findViewById(R.id.btnresetvalue); resetkeycode.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { dialog.dismiss(); } }); dialog.show(); } Okay, now I want to add this code to dialog: public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { //SOME STUFF return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } So I want to listen to a keypress when dialog is opened and show the keycode of hardware press by using textview.settext()... • ASP.NET AJAX postback and jQuery

    - by Echilon
    I have a Textbox, a LinkButton and a RadioButtonList inside an UpdatePanel. When the button is clicked, the UpdatePanel shows matching items in the radiobuttonlist. This works fine, but I now need to make the same happen OnKeyDown on the TextBox. I'm trying to cancel all AJAX requests in progress but not having much luck. Firstly, on every keypress the UpdatePanel posts back, so only one letter can be changed at a time. Secondly, the textbox loses focus on postback. I need to show the list as normal, but OnKeyDown as well as when the button is pressed. This is what I have (control IDs shortened) $('#textBoxId').live('keydown', function(e) { if((e.keyCode >= 47 && e.keyCode <= 90) || e.keyCode == 13) { Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().abortPostBack(); $('#buttonId').click(); $('#textBoxId').focus(); } }); Thanks for any insight.

There are no other form boxes so I can't rely on onBlur or expect that they will change focus ever. How do I do this? I just want to evaluate the value of the textbox everytime the value of the textbox changes. <input type="text" onKeyDown="myfunction()">
