• Make input field background image disappear after text is inputted

  I'd like to make the background image for my input field disappear once the user has typed any amount of text in it. Is there a simple way to do that in javascript? I can get it so the bg disappears while the field is focused, but then it returns once they move on to the next field. • Content area not expanding with the content within it!

  I have been coding a design I had been working on for a week or so and have core across a snag. While doing the HTML/CSS of one of my right column modules the content within it expands however the bg and bordered area it is within does not. htttp://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/ (url with example) http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/css/style.css (css stylesheet used on page) This website is purely HTML and CSS at this time all code can be viewed through the View Source option on all browsers. The area that is not working properly is the bullet links in the right module with the blue background that says "League Menu". The content above that will make the module background expand however the linked bullet menu will not.

  Can you bottom repeat a sprite background where I want the sprite to be set of the background on the bottom of the div. I have this: .statistics-wrap { margin-top: 10px; background: url(../img/bg-sprite.png) repeat-x 0 -306px bottom; overflow: hidden; border: 1px #BEE4EA solid; border-radius: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; padding: 10px; } It doesn't seem to appear, if I remove the bottom it will appear but it is set in the background repeating horizontally at the top of the div which I want it to repeat at the bottom. Is it possible?

• Any Way to Further Customize Embedded Google Calendar?

  I'd like to embed a few Google Calendars for my client's web site. The "Google Embeddable Calendar Helper" provides very few customization options. Updating the hex code for the background color in the generated source only works if you pick one of the ~70 standard Google Calendar bg colors. (I can tweak the "border" selector because at least it's in an actual statement.) A "view-source" on the rendered page shows a CSS file loaded from the iframe, but I obviously can't change anything in there. And I assume I can't force an override of selectors with my own CSS file because I have no way of "injecting" it into the iframe. Does anyone know of a (non-API) way of tweaking the colors, fonts, and other CSS thingies in an embedded Google Calendar? Thanks in advance...

• page transitions using javascript

  hey, i saw this on a site a couple of days ago and i cant seem to find it again. in any case, this is what was on the site: the page opened regularly when you entered the url. upon clicking one of the links on the page, it "transitioned" to the next page (there was a color change). and the url in the address bar was changed to reflect that. eg: if the background was blue on site.com, when clicking on the about link, the background would change to green and the browser would show site.com/about. and so on. also, if the url entered was site.com/about, the bg would be green and on cliking the home page, the site would transition from green to blue and browser would show site.com im interested in finding out how this was done. searching on google got me the meta-refresh tag, but the ffect was much more complex and worked on all browsers. is there any other method out there?

• Unable to use opacity animation w/ position:relative on children

  Consider the following (applies to all IE6+ browsers -- including IE8): <div id="picture"> <div class="thumb" style="position: relative;"><img .. /></div> <p>Some description</p> </div> When I animate the opacity down to 0 it only works if I change the .thumb class to position: static. This has bigger problems because I use that to constrain absolutely positioned children to that container. I've tried all the hacks I have discovered, none work (bg-color, zoom, etc). • memory of drawables, is it better to have resources inside APK, outside APK or is it the same for me

  Hi I have an application that draws a lot of graphics and change them. Since I have many graphics, I thought of having the images outside the APK, downloaded from the internet as needed, and saved on the files application folder. But I started to get outOfMemory exceptions. The question is: Does android handle memory different if I load a graphic from APK than if I load it from 'disk'? code using APK: topView.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.bg); code if image is outside APK: Drawable d = Drawable.createFromPath(pathName); topView.setBackgroundDrawable(d); Thanks Daniel

• IE7,8 Alpha PNG fade

  Does anyone know what is causing this issue? http://i.imgur.com/z1pzh.png The div in question has a solid 1x1 alpha opaque png repeating in its background-image property, and it's supposed to be all one bg color, not that fading effect. It doesn't appear in FF, Opera or Chrome. If you need more details, I can provide some CSS, but I assure you the CSS is in order. If someone doesn't just out-and-out know why this is happening, they more than likely won't find an answer looking in the code.

  I am trying to run the following code using allegro. textout_ex(screen, font, numbComments , 100, 100, GREEN, BLACK); numbComments is an integer, the function prototype of this function is void textout_ex(BITMAP *bmp, const FONT *f, const char *s, int x, int y, int color, int bg); and i cannot, according to my understanding pass this integer in the third position. I therefore need to convert the integer into a string. I did it like this, but it didnt work. For example, how would one implement the quests of a typical role-playing game (e.g. BG or TES)? Or how would you implement weapons with multiple stacking effects in a first-person shooter (e.g. the Shrink-gun or Freezer from DN3D)? How would you implement multiple choice options with a possibly intricate decision tree leading to several different outcomes (e.g. the mission trees in WC)?   Litmus released an email analytics service last month (may 2010). See here: http://litmusapp.com/email-analytics They boast a very cool "read rate" tracking: they can track normal reads, Skims, and Glanced/Deleted. How can they track skims and glanced/deleted? This to me seems impossible :) They also track forwards and prints. Prints are easy (they include a css @media print query with a bg image). But forwards? I think this might be a combo between subsequent opens and different IPs/reffering URLs. However, this means that if I open my mail and re-read it from another computer, it counts as a forward. Any ideas on this one? To summarize: Litmus Email Analytics says they can track email reads, skims, glanced/deleted, prints and forwards. How do they do it (skims, glanced/deleted and forwards)?

  Hi, I want to create a button which resize dynamically with content. to achieve this, I created a MovieClip in library and added four layers into it namely - text, bg, shadow and border. Problem I'm having is, if I make textfield autosize, only textfield resizes and others stuff remain as it is. if I calculate width required using xxxLineMetrics function and apply it to Button, background resizes properly but textfield also stretches with them and looks ugly. I want backgrounds(sibling of textfield) resize properly with textfield so button looks nice with resized background and normal autosized textfield. • Running matlab in the background

  Hi, I am running matlab on 48 virtual machines and would like to automate it. I ssh into the machines then use matlab -r matlab_command > outfile.txt & to get the process to run in the background and run fine when I logout. The only problem is that when i jobs my process is stopped and won't start until I fg ^z bg. Is there a matlab flag so that I can run it in the background without having it stop? Thanks, Mike

But, to my great disappointment, it's not working at all. It's just giving out a black background behind it. • How do I view Visual Studio BuildLog.htm files without cutting and pasting into an external browser

  This may or may not be specific to VS2005 (as that is the version I'm referring to for this question). I find often the case is that I see this in the Output panel inside Visual Studio 2>Build log was saved at "file://c:\\vsdll_example\MyExecRefsDll\Debug\BuildLog.htm" Now, since that looks and smells like a URL, I would have thought that I could simply left mouse click on it, or left mouse double-click on it, and a browser window of some sort would be displayed. No, that doesn't work. So, to view it, I have to cut and paste the "file://bla/bla/bla" part into an external window. Is there a way to set up Visual Studio to allow me to browse to that file directly, or view it inside Visual Studio IDE, or something to that effect, without the extra fiddling with cutting and pasting? Or is there some type of keybinding I'm not aware of? Thanks, bg

  I recently created a Sinatra app with a login form (no basic auth). To prevent access to the app unless the user logged in I put a before block in place before do unless request.path_info == '/login' authenticated? end end I quickly realized that this prevented me from accessing resources in the public directory like my style sheet and logo unless authenticated first as well. To get around that I changed my filter to the following: before do unless request.path_info == '/login' || request.path_info == "/stylesheets/master.css" || request.path_info == "/images/logo.png" authenticated? end end If there were lots of resources I needed to provide exceptions to this way of making them would quickly become overwhelming. What is a better way to code this so I can make exceptions for the public directory or even its specific sub-directories and files like /stylesheets, /images, /images/bg.png but not /secret or /secret/eyes-only.pdf? Or ... Is there a completely different best-practice to handle this situation of locking down everything except the stuff related to logging in (handlers, views, resources)?
