I discovered the following resource on maxmind: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/api/php/timezone/ I suspect that I could use this with another api that provides the state that an area code belongs to.   I've been getting into Backbone.js lately and I'm enjoying it so far. All the examples tend to be simple to-do lists, so it's been a little difficult extrapolating code organization and file structure for a larger/more robust single page application. I've come to a crossroad: Should I use something like Yepnope.js to load models and views as I need them or, Combine and minify into fewer files and front-load it all. Some combination of both? Any advice would be appreciated!

• What's your favorite cross domain cookie sharing approach?

  I see iframe/p3p trick is the most popular one around, but I personally don't like it because javascript + hidden fields + frame really make it look like a hack job. I've also come across a master-slave approach using web service to communicate (http://www.15seconds.com/issue/971108.htm) and it seems better because it's transparent to the user and it's robust against different browsers. Is there any better approaches, and what are the pros and cons of each?

• Why isnt int pow(int base, int exponent) in the standard C++ libraries?

  I feel like I must just be unable to find it. Is there any reason that the c++ pow function does not implement the "power" function for anything except floats and doubles? I know the implementation is trivial, I just feel like I'm doing work that should be in a standard library. A robust power function (ie handles overflow in some consistent, explicit way) is not fun to write.
