• Refer to a Spark view component in code

  I'm building a mobile AIR app using Flash Builder 4.5. The initial view in my views package is TestHomeView.mxml. I want to refer to it in one of my .as classes elsewhere in the app, and I'm not sure how to do that. Theoretically I should be able to add an "id" attribute to TestHomeView.mxml, but FB gives me an error: "id is not allowed on the root tag of a component". The root tag is s:view. The reason I need to do this is that within another class I make various calculations and then need to pass an array of values to a component in my view class. So in SomeOtherActionScriptClass.as I first assemble the array, myArray, and then in that class I want to do this: myViewComponent.viewArray = myArray; If I'm going to do that, I also need to import the view class into the .as class, which strikes me as weird. So is there a simple way to do what I want, or do I have to dispatch a custom event which contains the array, and listen for it in the view class? Thanks.

• WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - unable to access data

  I have a WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - (WD20000H2NC-00) Was working fine until a few days ago. I guess there was a power failure and after that I am unable to access the 'Public' or the 'Download' folder anymore. I have been searching for answers everywhere but came up empty handed. Web GUI still works, SSH works. I hooked up both the drives on my PC and UFS Explorer sees the drive. But so far I am unable to retrieve any of my data. I do not remember what RAID setting I used when I first got the drive. I can see from GUI that it is set as "Stripe". The drive contains 10 years of family pictures which I really do not want to loose. Sadly and stupidly, I didn't even keep a backup of this drive. Can somebody please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help. Disk Utility on Ubuntu reports 1405 bad sectors on one drive. How can I retrieve my data? Please help. • is there any light weight javascript date picker

  I am using JQuery Date picker, but it is too much heavy, the minified version of ui.datepicker.min.js is of 44 KB. the images of datepicker have their own weigh. the jquery framework is of 59 KB. and total images on page are of around 80 KB the total html of page is around 70 KB and the css file size is around 72 KB. and much more, and all the things go upto 600 KB. which is 0.6 MB. do you think user will wait for 600 KB to be downloaded in the browser? it may take upto 8 - 10 secs. and I dont think that user will wait for such long time. I want to keep my website light weight. is there any light weight javascript date picker.

  I know of at least three light weight C++ XML parsers: RapidXML, TinyXML and PugiXML. However, all three use a DOM based interface (ie, they build their own in-memory representation of the XML document and then provide an interface to traverse and manipulate it). For most situations that I have to deal with, I much prefer the SAX interface (where the parser just spits out a stream of events like start-of-tag, and the application code is responsible for doing whatever it wants based on those events). Can anyone recommend a light weight C++ XML library with a SAX interface? Edit: I should also note the Microsoft XmlLite library, which does use a SAX interface. Unfortunately, it's ruled out for me at the moment since as far as I know it's closed source and Windows only (please correct me if I'm wrong on this).

  Hi, With sifr, how do I make a font use the light weight version. I have... var gillsans = { src: '/resources/swf/gillsans.swf' }; sIFR.activate(gillsans); sIFR.replace(gillsans, { selector: 'h1', css: '.sIFR-root { background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #000000; text-transform:uppercase; }' }); which is displaying regular Gill Sans, the light version has been exported with the swf (said so in the export report), but how do I get it to display in sifr?

  Hello, I'm using ImageMagick to resize an image to a smaller size gif. In this process I'm trying to give the image a light effect, not a side-light, just like a shiny look all over. Not a good comparison but for a better understanding think of an image seen in a old screen or an image seen in glossy monitor - I'm trying to enhance the image the closest to this point. An important point is that I can't make a image-to-image treatment, it must be something that I can use in all the images. I know ImageMagick is a powerful tool, and can certainly do something for my images! Many thanks!

  These answers don't satisfy MY needs. My mobile supports .3gp and .avi formats 3gp files are always smaller in size but with least quality (especially audio part) Avi (certainly) exhibits better quality but the video converter I am using (namely Xillisoft VidConverter) outputs avi file with very high size, which isn't suitable for portable devices So I'm looking for (essentially free or open source) software that creates smaller files with a better quality than 3gp! thank you :-)

• Fastest light-weight image viewer over forwarded x11 session (linux)

  I have a slow network connection over which I'm forwarding x11 over ssh. I want to view images on the remote host (Ubuntu) quickly and efficiently. I'm looking for an image viewer that will take into account the image viewer window's resolution and downsize the image before sending it over the network, instead of sending the full size image. The images I want to view will be around 5MB and I only need to be able to browse through tiny thumbnails of the images to identify the image I'm looking for. It is not necessary to be able to see more than one image at a time. Highest speed over slow network connection is the priority. Thanks! Matthew EDIT: It's possible that the way x11 forwarding works, only the image at the display resolution will be transferred anyway. • Light Voip and IM server for small teams

  So I have a small group that would need a self hosted Im/voip and possibly video conferencing solution. My goal is for a small group of people (no more than 40) to be able to collaborate within a local area network. I need something that is self hosted, so unfortunately outside solutions like Skype and hosted Lync would not work. I'm looking for something that would allow both one on one, and group communication, so and IRC server would not work. I'm hopefully looking for something that does not require multiple servers, or is too complex to set up. As a student, I have a license of Lync 2013, but setting that up on a single server without active directory is practically impossible. Would Lync 2010 be easier to do on a single server? Are there any other good solutions? Thanks

• Dlink DIR-615 suddenly stops working - Orange internet light

  I unplugged my Dlink DIR-615 router last night from the wall due to a storm rolling in. I've done this countless times, no problem. However, when I went to plug it in and use the internet today, nothing. Check everything, cycled everything. Hard reset the router, nothing. The little globe on the front is red/orange, and it should be green. Windows gives me an error of a "DNS Issue", and the internet works when connected directly to the modem. How can I fix this issue? Why would it suddenly stop working?

• Looking for Light Time Management Software Suggestions (for Mac)

  I'm looking for a simple project management app that performs task scheduling, along the line of Merlin or MS Project, but no where near as robustly. I don't need to deal with other (human) resources, but I work on anything from 3 to 6 different projects at a time. What I'd like is to be able to input deadlines and tasks, and have a schedule suggested to complete them. I do technical work, but I don't think I need anything specifically for software development, especially considering I do plenty of other kinds of things, like graphic design and social media PR. I'd really like this to be dead simple, as simple as possible. Suggestions? OmniPlan, something web-based? Definitely cannot afford anything too extravagant, really looking for something under $200.   Lugging my X301 between work and home, I realized my laptop's accessories weigh more than the laptop itself! I'm ordering a 2nd AC power adapter so I don't even have to carry one at all, but I may as well get the lightest one possible. Also, I have decided to swap my Logitech Kinetik briefcase for a Tom Bihn Ristretto. Less protection, but much lighter, less bulky, and easier to carry. Any suggestions for better laptop cases/bags?

Good quality integrated video & mike are prerequisites, as is Windows (though I'd entertain OSX). Doesn't need to be large, a 12" screen is probably fine. If I went new, where should I look? • VPS Memory Exchausted Even With Light Settings

  Linux noob here. I have a 256MB VPS on Ubuntu 11.04 server and when I run "free -m" the result shows all memory being used (including the second line re: buffers/cache). I found this very strange, considering I only have 5 Apache processes running each chewing up about 20MB each. MYSQL is taking up 30MB. To my knowledge, and according to "top", I have no other memory hogs operating. Settings that may be relevant: PHP memory_limit = 32M MYSQL key_buffer = 16M Prefork MPM Maxclients = 10 So when I reviewed these settings, I naturally thought maxclients was too high, so I tried switching it to 5. Now not only does my memory still show as being 100% used, my website loads much, much slower, despite not getting any traffic aside from mine at the moment. I don't understand this. I thought a single Apache process handles all requests from a client received within the "KeepAliveTimeout" window, which I've set to 2 seconds. With my initial config. of 10 maxclients, my page load times are around .3ms, so a single process should handle that no problem, correct? So next I went to an extreme level of 1 for maxclients. My memory is still at 100% usage and my site loads painfully slow. I'm a noob at a complete loss here. According to the many tutorials I've read on basic server setup, I should be good to go. Help! • Windows 7 PC freezes frequently with hard disk light constantly on

  I recently replaced a defective hard disk with a new one - Windows 7 - "A disk read error occured. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" I have been using the new hard disk with a Windows 7 installation for about 4 days. Now it has started freezing frequently. Sometimes every 2 minutes and sometimes every 10 seconds. There is lots of software installed - I am a developer and my PC is full of IDEs, database servers, web servers, developer tools, testing tools, all browsers etc.. My windows is up to date as of now. I have installed ALL updates including optional drivers etc. All my installed software is up to date. I scanned my computer using Microsoft Security Essentials and found nothing malicious. I did a chkdsk /r and found no problems. I did a memory diagnostic and found no problems. When I go into safe mode, it doesn't freeze and I am able to use it normally for longer periods of time. What other steps can I take to locate the problem?

  I have a small website with a Joomla and a Moodle set up. It seems that both of these are very slow. The server (CentOS release 5.5 (Final)) is a virtual dedicated server with about 2GB of ram. I don't expect to ever get more than 10-15 people on at the same time (and if that is high) What settings could I change in either apache, mysql, or even the OS to increase the performance of my site? I'm not concerned about running out of resources if I get too many visitors. If you need more specific data leave a comment and I'll edit the question.

  I am using emacs on MacOS 10.6 with Terminal. I have a white background. It's very hard to read quoted C++ strings. They are coming up in pale green. Keywords are in turquoise. After searching through the source I cam across cpp.el and have determined that I am using the cpp-face-light-name-list instead of cpp-face-dark-name-list. Apparently this function is supposed to chose the correct list based on the background color: (defcustom cpp-face-default-list nil "Alist of faces you can choose from for cpp conditionals. Each element has the form (STRING . FACE), where STRING serves as a name (for `cpp-highlight-buffer' only) and FACE is either a face (a symbol) or a cons cell (background-color . COLOR)." :type '(repeat (cons string (choice face (cons (const background-color) string)))) :group 'cpp) But it doesn't seem to be working. What should I put in my .emacs file so that I get the cpp-face-dark-list instead of cpp-face-light-list? Thanks!
